Awesome camera, use it for so many things. Great price for such an awesome bit of kit in the middle range of the enthusiast category. Highly recommend it.

Love the camera. Feature packed. Good results. Works well with my Tamron 16-300 lens.

Update: Had taken off one star due to back focus issue this camera or lens has. Or at least with 18-135 kit lens.

If you're serious about buying this camera, you've probably already done tons of research. If you are on the fence, I will say this:
I had a 10D, 1D, 40D, and 60D. I upgraded to the 70D and it is by far the best yet. AF at night (very low light) is tremendous. WiFi works great once set up.

I haven't had a chance to fully test the camera yet but so far the results are very good. Focusing is lighting fast in daylight but I haven't tried it in poor light yet. The ability to autofocus in live view is also a bonus. Nearly bought the original version of the 7D instead but I think the 70D will be hard to beat if you're looking for an APS-C format camera at a reasonable price.

1. The 19 point autofocus system, when using auto-select mode in the viewfinder, consistently miss-focus the pictures, with my Canon 300mm F4 IS L lens. (The situation is much better when using liveview auto-focus. )2. The 19 point autofocus, when using auto-select mode in the viewfinder, will ONLY focus on the closest subject, no matter what the main subject of the frame is. For example, if there is a cup sits on a table, even the cup occupied the main area of the frame, the autofocus points, nonetheless, will almost always keep locking on the front surface of the table in front of the cup, while miss-focus the cup, which is actually the main subject. (The situation is much better when using liveview auto-focus. )3. It is a Brand New Camera, and when I first opened the package, I found quite a few specks of small dusts on the assembly mirror, it is UNACCETABLE manufacturing control when you consider how EXPENSIVE this 1 pound little machine is.Shame on Canon, This camera will DESERVE one Star.

This is a "in the middle camera" for a profesional and an starter. If you are starting with Photography buy a EOS T5i. For a pro user save your money for a 6D.

Everything great about this camera has been said here ad nauseum , so I'll just say it is everything I could have possibly hoped for. It's absolutely perfect in quality, features, and very fair on price. Couple it with a battery grip and you've got a great shooter.

This camera is fully automatic, or you can program it any way you want to take pictures. It is very easy to use in auto mode, and works well in all the other settings if you program it correctly. I just love it.

I really liked this camera but had to return it for a defect. Photos were often blurry when using the full auto mode. Occasionally the built-in flash didn't fire even in low light situations. I thought about getting a replacement but worried about quality control.UPDATE: I decided to take a chance and purchase a replacement 70D (from a different online retailer this time) and I'm having similar focus issues with it. The flash is working 100% this time but the images are still blurry when using full auto through the viewfinder (live view focuses properly). I'm using the kit lens (ef-s 18-135 stm). It appears the 19-point auto-focus is not focusing on the points indicated in the viewfinder, but on something closer. It also chooses a high ISO when using the flash (like 1600) guaranteeing some graininess. If this camera was for me I would keep it because I never use the auto-mode anyway, but it's my wife's and she does. It will be returned.

Has almost everything that I wanted in a camera, the pic come out fantastic! with the high ISO i and getting pictures even in dark settings while hand held. The only thing that I feel is missing id the audio out put jack for headphones when you are filming video.

I run a small media company and this is our go to camera for most video shoots. The images are crisp and rich...especially at this price point. Pulling focus is not difficult at all and the auto focus does a nice job for motion shots.

The few times I have used it for stills I was happy...but still prefer my Nikon.

I really love this camera. I had been renting it from Borrow Lenses but was approved for financing with the amazon store card so i decided to purchase it instead of racking up more rental fees. I'm so glad i bought it. Feels good in my hands, excellent photo qualify, silent autofocus and high speed burst mode. With enough light and Sandisc extreme plus, i can hold down the button with burst mode set to high and the buffer never seems to run out, it keeps going and going. I also like the metal mount vs the plastic one on my old T1i

The Canon EOS 70D borrows many features from the Canon lineup. It has built in wifi, but no GPS, fully-articulated touch-screen display from the T4i, which is very versatile, crisp and fully functional. The 63 zone metering system and movie quality are also brought over from previous models. I do like the design which flows over from the 60D which was a design change from my 40D. It's lighter than the 7D since it's not made from magnesium alloy. The true pleasure is the 7fps continual shooting, to capture a wide variety of shots at a faster clip than previous models.The greatest feature however is the large CMOS 20.2 Megapixel sensor with Dual Pixel AF capabilities. I'm not too versed in the camera lingo but I can honestly say the tracking speed and live stills is incredible, and the camera really allows a novice Photographer to really put forth some high quality images. I also like that it's smaller and lighter than the 7D. I've never owned one, but have held the model at several times and was not impressed with its heft on my neck.I like the system and the price range. I have paired with several lenses from my t4i and enjoy the quality of build, and features this camera brings to the market. I wish I could have taken part in early reviews of this system so I could have been working with these awesome features. Canon certainly has a high quality lineup, and has gone the distance in putting forth a lower priced high quality camera for the masses. I'll update my review as time permits, so until then enjoy!Update: The review was before the camera walked off. Perhaps having a Canon label on the neck strap is not all that's wrapped up to be. More like a walking advertisement. If anyone from Canon sees this and wants to take pity on me, I'd gladly accept.

It is amazing how much the quality of my work has improved by switching from a t3i to this camera. The images are so much clearer and focused. The camera is amazingly fast! I was looking for an upgrade that was comparable to full frame but would still allow me to use all my lenses and this definitely does the job.

I love this camera and all of the functions. I do a lot of filming for my work and it's by far the best camera I've used for taping. I haven't used it much for taking photos but the few I have taken look amazing.

I upgraded from a 650D to a 70D (both have touch screens and I like that) and I'm really happy with my purchase. Everything about 70D is great. Pictures are much more sharpen and detailed, even in low light or high movement conditions. I miss a couple of minor features I had on my 650D, such as being able to use timer or remote for 10 continuous shots (70D only allows timer or remote for one shot at the time), 70D doesn't have camera flash settings and I miss it, and the number of available shots displayed on screen doesn't show above 999 (3 digits) even though it is possible to look it up on camera settings and find out the real number of shots available. Like I said, all minor features. It has great features, it's faster to set due to all the dedicated buttons and the extra display, it shows a very accurate battery status and that's really useful. I haven't been able to wi-fi connect it yet (and I'm talking about the 70D(W)), but probably I'm not doing it the proper way, I've only had the camera for 5 days, I'll try it again. This is a simple review, I'm a newbie but I love photography and I'm trying on my own my best to learn what I can. Oh, and I bought my 70D on Amazon.fr, it was less expensive and arrived really fast in 4 days. Only downside, outside package was badly damaged but inside package looked good, so, I accepted it.

Having owned a 50D and 60D and also compared to my full sensor Mark 5D, this is an excellent DSLR with Wi Fi and excellent controls and features. My favorite EOS camera ever and I've been shooting EOS for years.

I have a 30D and a 40D both of which will be going on eBay soon. They are both very good cameras but the 70D is a massive step up not only in mega pixels but design, processor, screen quality and flexibility. If I was to nit pick I would say I would of preferred the wheel at the back to be the same size as the 40D and the body is a little smaller I prefer the 40D body size. The menu system is well sorted and the touch screen works really well, the images are excellent but then I use either prime or L series lens which helps. This is early days with the camera but I see little to fault with is even the white balance is much improved as is the ISO. Like all my previous canons I have a G12 as well I tend to slightly under expose about 2/3 and that sorts it. The only thing I would of really liked would of been a dual slot for the memory but that said these things are made to a price and canon have done well with this. I would of given 4.5 stars if I had the option but 4 wouldn't have been fair. If you need a battery grip canon have one for about

Wonderful camera. The new fast focus in movie mode is very nice. Great autofocus system in general including the AI Servo mode that tracks focus on a moving subject. I thought the touch screen would be a bit gimmicky, but it turns out to be quite useful for accessing camera functions or zooming in on a photo. The built-in wi-fi is interesting, but for the kind of photography I do, it doesn't seem that useful. If I was doing more portrait work, I might choose to pair it with my phone more often and use it as a remote. But I tend to do a lot more action or outdoor photography and pairing the camera with my phone in the field isn't that wonderful. Overall I love the camera. Well built, functional and some great features.

This is the first SLR I have owned, and it took me a long time to decide what model to purchase. Canon was a no-brainer - I wouldn't buy anything else. I use a T3i at work and was impressed with its functionality, but wanted something a little more professional for my personal use. Photography is my favorite hobby/passion, and the review that sold me was someone who said that the 70D was "a camera to grow into." That's the perfect summary for this camera. It has the auto settings for amateur photographers but also plenty of creative settings if you want to try something new. I used this at my cousin's graduation this past weekend - gymnasium pictures are notoriously impossible to take, but all the pictures turned out perfectly. I've enjoyed learning more about my hobby through this camera - and I am certainly growing into it!

I'm a semi-pro user, I mostly do weddings, engagements, and baby shots for friends. It's not my day job, but I have pretty high demands. Other than not being a full frame camera, this 70D is nearly flawless. Combine with the Sigma 18-50 2.4 lens, I shoot about a thousand flawless photos over the last week (engagement photos, birthday party). The auto-focus (which was horrible on my 40d) is spot on 99.9% of the time. I couldn't be happier. The color is nice, though I did tweak the vibrance a bit on most my photos, but they were true to life, I just like my colors bolder. The resolution was adequate for my prints up to 30 inches. The bride and groom were very please at how "easy" it was to walk around and shoot a bunch of photos without having to do a lot of re-shoots and lighting fixes.

I have a 60D for the past 3 years since it was launched.

The only Achilles heel it had was the focusing when shooting video, it was so bad that I always used to focus manually as the lens would hunt sometimes and struggle to achieve focus.

The 70D has changed all that, since getting the 70D I haven't had to resort to manual focus at any time. The screen touch focus is especially handy. Just tap on the 3" LCD touchscreen and the camera snaps into focus much quicker than I could do manually.

Another feature is the Wi-Fi where you can download an app for Apple or Android called EOS Remote, as the name says you can control the camera with your smartphone which is just brilliant for so many applications.

I can highly recommend this camera and in my opinion it's a rival to many cameras more than twice the price.

My first DSLR was the Canon 40d. I skipped several upgrades before finally jumping on the 70d. I honestly didn't feel that the 50d or 60d really justified upgrading. The 70d is truly a step up! First it has the autofocus system from the 7d with a few little tweaks. Also the low light capability in comparison to the 40d is unreal. It has taken some time to get used to a new set of buttons and button configurations, but it has been fun learning. It's a first class camera that I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with. I am not into movies, but it is also commonly thought to be one of the best movie DSLR's available. If you buy it I hope you are as happy with it as I am and thanks for taking the time to read my review.

like the camera, i am a fan of canon. dont care for the flip out screen but other than that takes nice pics have to get used to where the controls are. havent figured out the wi-ri yet

So glad I replaced my older D80 Nikon with the Canon. I wasn't sure if I wanted to make the switch but the camera takes good pictures and is easy to use. I am still figuring out the manual settings but in time I will have it down.

Fantastic camera. Video is very difficult to take well even with a lens that has built-in stabilization. I find myself ALWAYS needing a tripod. It's not something I considered would be an issue, but it is really noticeable and disorienting in 1080p. Back in the day taking crappy 320x240 home video, a little camera wavering wasn't terribly distracting, but it is definitely something you have to consider with this. The video is almost TOO good, I guess is what I'm saying.

I upgraded from a 30D and am VERY happy with the upgrade.

The image quality is good with pictures, but I get red hot pixels with the video. Noticed too late for the return window. :(

I actually bought this camera on a whim with the expectation to try it out and see if it did what everyone was raving about with the expectation to send it back if it wasn't a significant step from my T2i. Its amazing! Low light blows my T2i out of the water. Live view focuses perfect and instantly! The live focusing during video is amazing! You can watch it put squares around faces and track them all over the screen focusing on them as they come towards you or away. The only thing is that if you're using anything but the new STM lenses you will hear the focus. Although this model put the stereo mics on top instead of next to the lens so it is better you will still hear the lens focusing in quiet scenes, but way worth it!I cannot say enough good stuff about this camera for the price!Touchscreen!Awesome low light!The mode selector goes 360 so you don't have to turn it all the way back to switch to another function!A separate switch to go from video to photo!Silent mode is awesome!High speed shutter is crazy fast!I just love it. If you're upgrading from any of the crop frame cameras it is totally worth it!

Feature filled and yet still easy to use. The touch screen makes on-th-fly changes easy. The variety of focusing and exposure options provides great flexibility in controlling the image. The included lens is very good, but not great. The only problem that I have had is an occasional flash malfunction, getting an error code 5. This is apparently a fairly common error. My solution has been to simply turn off the flash when I do not need it. It has not affected the overall function of the camera.

Let me start off by saying I have never used the full frame models. I have most recently had the T3i and before that I had the XT years ago. This model is just incredible. I use it for everything... family photos, wildlife, birds and astronomy. The 7 frames per second come in VERY handy for bird shots. With the Wi-Fi feature I was able to set up the tripod just a few feet from my bird feeder and sit safely on the other side of the yard and with my iPhone remotely take pictures of the birds without disturbing them. The touch-screen display is very handy. I didn't think that would be something I'd use much, but the more I use it the more I want to use it. I use only Sigma lenses on it right now... the 30mm "A", the 18-200 "C", and the 150-500. They all work great on this camera. If you're looking for something to upgrade from the T3i, this is it (unless your budget can afford FF).

While not the perfect camera, the 70d is the best video making Canon DSLR. Its dual pixel AF is a true breakthrough in AF on the DSLR. Its stills aren't too shabby either!

Before I get any further, I just want to make sure that everyone understands that the instruction manual to operate this wirelessly is simply atrocious. You won't be able to do it from the manual and will have to resort to searching the internet. After an hour, I managed to link it to my phone and after a further four hours of trying to link it to my computer, I gave up. Thank goodness the USB cable works.

With that out of my system; this camera has surpassed my expectations in almost every way. It is incredibly quick and the images are incredibly sharp. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone and absolutely everyone.

Have had this camera for > 6 months now. Works great. Love the Live View feature. Auto focus is very fast and very seldom has to 'seek' (so far only happened during night sky shooting). Battery lasts much longer than the one in my Rebel. Could wish it had dual SD cards, but the 32GB SD card I bought with it stores over 800 photos so not a major issue. The other great feature is the wireless control from iphone/andriod. Phone displays what the camera is seeing, which makes family photos a breeze.

I still do not know if the camera works or not because the stupid battery is defected. I have been charging it for THREE DAYS and the charger never shows that charging is complete and I cannot turn on the camera. This one star review is ONLY for your STUPID BATTERY. I am going to buy a new battery and see if it works or not.

I needed an upgrade in speed when we had our first child and between the amazing focus speed and the frames per second in RAW, I couldn't be more satisfied without spending 5x as much.

BUY THIS CAMERA! I had a Rebel XS and was in the process of upgrading. Looked at the 60d and the 7d and the this just came out and did the research and it was a no brainer. Better than the 60d and the 7d for only $1000. It has built in wifi that syncs to your phone, tablet and computer. Can control camera from a App that has a remote trigger. Has the upgraded 19 pt focus system, 20 mega pixels and the list goes on. The swivel screen I thought might be a annoyance but I do not think twice about it. If anything it is an added bonus for video needs if ever, why not! Body is not too big and not too small, just right! If you want a bigger body then just get a added grip, problem solved. AWESOME CAMERA, NO REGRETS!

I bought this camera as an upgrade from my previous and I am not disappointed.

Many of the features on this camera enhance the overall experience, both at the point of use and the quality of the shots taken. The smart viewfinder technology is a great feature for a mid-level camera and the image quality is excellent with colours being especially well rendered - which is great when shooting at lower JPEG resolution than the highest quality RAW. The sensor and Digic 5+ processor allow for a high sensitivity range spanning ISO 100-12,800 and extendable to ISO 25,600 and the tilt touchscreen is fantastic!

The phase detect auto focus in LiveView is true innovation from Canon...beats contrast detection hands down and is very useful for auto focus during macro photography, videos and any kind of fast moving action (watersports).

Overall as a camera marketed at an 'enthusiasts' this is a superb choice of camera - another of Canon's great introductions to the EOS range and I would very much recommend.

I can't wait to buy a second one. Videographer here. Love it. Make sure you get STM lenses (They are silent from what I read). Older lenses make too much noise with the autofocus.. And trust me, the autofocus on this for video is GREAT! You can touch screen where you want to focus on - amazing.

I highly recommend this camera. Have been using it for a couple months now and it's doing things my Rebels couldn't do. Like auto bracketing for HDR post processing. Great high speed shutter for kids' sports. Pop up flash is always available for portrait fill outdoors (or indoors). Nice combination of auto-modes and fully manual modes. I've been waiting and watching Canon camreas for many years. Have been a Rebel user all these years, putting my money into their L lenses, but not pulling the trigger on the camera body until one came out that had the best feature set and price combination. That camera body, for me, is the 70D. Have shot a couple months now and am completely satisfied with the photos this captures. More importantly this camera combines ease of use with many "auto" modes along with total manual controls as well. And the pop up flash gets a lot of use as a fill in outdoor portraits without having to lug around a separate flash unit. Great high speed shutter for my kids' sporting events. Great exposure bracketing for HDR shooting.

Very disappointed with this camera. I have a Canon EOS 6D and I wanted a backup camera. This camera has great features, but the AF feature is awful. It does not focus very well and for someone that has taken many portrait shots, I'm horrified at the results. About 90% of the shots are not focused where I focused the camera. After having this issue, I went online and there are many issues regarding focusing issues. Canon should be ashamed to release a camera that is this faulty. I will be contacting Canon today!

Replaced my Canon T1i and this is superior in nearly every way. Particularly useful is low light performance and fast focusing speed, not to mention speed for rapid photo sequences. The touchscreen grows on you. Expensive, but worth it if you are upgrading from earlier canon bodies and already have APS-c lenses so don't want to go to full frame.

Brilliant camera. I was originally looking at the 6D, but got recommended this at almost half the price (from the guy in my local camera shop, oops), and found it on here even cheaper! Very pleased with my decision, I've had some cracking pictures already, here's to many more!

Purchased four of these for a high school yearbook program and they work great and the students love their new capabilities. Good investment.

This camera has all the bells and whistle that I could wish for and more my only critisism is the driving instructions that come with it the small paper manual gives all the basics but due the the size and vast amount of information that is trying to be put across meeans that the font size is very small and difficult to read and the spine is not strong enough for the book to last vey long more informative but still does not seem to cover everything particularly well and the int(this is typical Canon) the software version is not much better. The software packages supplied might be very good but finding out how to make the best of it is dreadful certainly not intuative and it would not work on my windows XP although it claimed to and having look at he internet I'm not the only one to find this. This is a shame and lets down whaqt is an exceptional camer especiallyn the hand held night shot mode which so far has been brilliant.

This camera is awesome. It's a great value for your money. One of the best things is it focuses on the fly while you are taking movies, which is generally unprecedented. I could rave about all sorts of cool features it has, but I'll just say I love that the viewing screen is not only fully articulated so it will adjust to the angle you are shooting from, but it is also a touch screen.

Far more eloquent people have articulated reviews than I, so I'll leave it at that.

I have only had it a few weeks, but I've already shot a short film with it, and I have to say I'm in love with this camera. The picture is so clear and it's so easy to focus and pull focus, and the touch screen is so helpful, because I don't have to figure out what dial or button needs to be used to do what in the menus. I haven't used the auto-focus yet, but after all the research I did before buying it, I know it has a great autofocus for filming if you don't want to focus yourself. The flip screen is very useful as well, so I can put the camera on a tripod in a place I can't really fit in to film and I have no problem seeing or working with the camera even though I'm in front of it instead of behind it.

I'm a beginning film student and this was my first major investment in a camera, so even with all the research, I was somewhat nervous of the purchase, but I am not disappointed at all. I couldn't be happier with this camera!

This camera is not user friendly at all. I have tried so hard to figure it out but it is completely useless.
