This is a poor product. The image quality is low with lots of shadowing occurring.The full image did not show up at HD quality (1080) Edges were cut off, and I could not see any scroll bars. Manual adjustments to move the screen around did not move it enough to show scroll bars.The sound quality is extremely low. My small laptop has better speakers.Do not buy this product, there are lots of other product in the same price range with much higher quality.I'm returning my order, and I'm stuck with shipping fees now.

I bought this monitor because of the fact that it was "cheap". I would soon learn how much this monitor is the opposite of cheap. The monitor is huge and allows for a complete layout while doing homework or searching many sites at once. The speaker have shown no problem and actually get quite loud. If I had the chance to buy this for everyone I know I would definitively buy one for anyone.

I'm very pleased with this product so far. Despite the refresh rate, I have noticed some ghosting and tearing when the monitor renders images with extreme contrast. Other than that, it's perfect. I'll probably get another two eventually.

Like all of you, I bought this monitor based on the glowing reviews from Amazon and newegg. I have been disappointed by some problems.EDIT!!!!: I decided to keep this monitor, despite the ghosting problem. It really is the only monitor on the market with the features (HDMI, LED) for the price point I got it for ($181 @ warehouse deals amazon). You'll have to try it out and see if the ghosting kills it. Most non-techies prolly won't care.1) BAD GHOSTING! Horrible. Terrible. This is a REAL problem! Don't listen to the positive reviews that say it isn't! If you don't believe me, there's an entire LEGION of users on the web that has this problem. The problem has been traced to Asus's "overdrive" feature. You can go into the service menu (search for the video on youtube with this monitor's model#) and turn it off, BUT when you turn off the monitor and back on, the setting is reset. Very disappointing ;(Here is a post on Asus's own support forum. The response from Asus has been less than stellar -_-(Google for this problem. amazon won't allow links).The problem is particularly noticeable when scrolling text with middle mouse button in a browser like IE/FF/Opera. The ghosting is so bad the text is unreadable.Also, there is a "overdrive" feature that can be turned off via a special service menu, BUT when you turn the monitor off anytime, the problem returns -_-2) Black backgrounds bleed a @*@$& of light! Tried every combination of display settings. The ones out of box are horrendous. An Amazon reviewer mentioned his specs, which was the best I could find as well.3) Viewing angles are subpar. I realize it's not an IPS monitor, but :(Everything else is fine. For the novice user, it's a great <200 USD monitor.

After a disappointment with the VS228 H-P (very weird reverse ghosting issues) and the BENQ GL2450HM (a little too much inverse ghosting). I decided to buy this monitor and I must say I am extremely pleased with it, I use this for coding, docs and gaming so ghosting was a big concern for me. If you set the Trace free Setting to 60 there really isn't any noticeable ghosting at all. Although color quality/reproduction is better on the GL2540 the no ghosting made this a clear winner for me.The stand does move when you are pressing the buttons, but otherwise if you have a stable desk it will not move otherwise.For the price it is the best 24 Monitor you can buy!.

This is a very nice monitor. It was a little too bright and turning that down helped. Also I noticed a little too much text ghosting when dragging my browser around the screen. There is an adjustment in your monitor settings. Go to Image, then adjust Trace Free. I set mine to 80 and its great.This is a second monitor and seemed way too blue as compared to my old monitor. There are many places you can get reference jpg images that are true to color and gray scale. Do a search for a page named, Monitor Test Images, and any on that page are good, my favorites are from Inkjet Art. Also dpreview.com has a nice image, R3000_TestPrint.As it turns out my old monitor was too red and this new monitor's color is very nice. Eyeballing adjustments are ok but using calibration equipment is better. Especially if you print much and find you prints don't match what you see on your monitor.Its a very nice monitor that's priced right. Very good contrast, brightness, and color. Skyrim looks and plays great (lets face it, that's the most important part... hehe).02/27/2013 I haven't had any problems with this monitor. I upgraded to Windows 8 from Vista so I don't know if this is in Win 7 or not, but... In Windows 8 search "calibrate display color" and in "settings" you can tweak your monitor. Then click "How do I calibrate my display" for instructions. My monitor looks better than ever.

[...]One of my criteria is to have built-in speakers. I don't have external speakers nor do I like more tangled wires. The speakers sound better than my old Viewsonic VA1912wb I replaced. That is a welcoming fact. Initially, there was a lot of waviness on screen. The troubleshooting guide suggested video connection as the issue. Turns out that it was my old VGA cable (I didn't want to craw behind the computer initially...). Once I hooked up with the new cable provided, it started working perfectly. I'm running Windows XP Media Center. After I turned off and on my computer, it recognized the new monitor and reset the resolution and refresh rate profile. It now runs at 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz. No driver is needed. I was afraid that I would need to update my video driver since I have a 4 yr+ old computer but I don't. With HDMI, DVI, and SPDIF Audio Output, it will be more than capable to handle my future computer (definitely not with Vista, though).Of course, not everything is perfect with this monitor. The buttons and OSD menu are not great. But they are within my expectation based on other reviews I mentioned before. In addition, once you move away from the center view by, say, more than 45 degrees, the picture quality starts degrading rapidly. It means that if you want to show someone standing behind you the pictures on your screen, he/she would need to bend down, sit down, or step back in order to appreciate what you are trying to show. These are just minor flaws that I'm willing to live with for what I'm willing to pay. Overall, I'm a very happy customer.August 11, 2009 Update:Shortly after I wrote the initial impression above, I began to experience some flickering with the screen. This is my description to ASUS Customer Service:"While in use, occasionally monitor would flicker. Anywhere from showing multi-color vertical bands (partial or full screen) to black or white screen. Sometimes it's vertical and horizontal lines covering the full screen (forming dense grid pattern). This is a brand new monitor (in use for 1 week). I'm using VGA cable. I've unplugged and plugged the cable and made sure connection is good. I've updated my video card driver to the latest version but did not solve the problem. Saw this posted in forum but no solution replied. If not resolved, may need to return the monitor."ASUS replied in about 2 days making several recommendations. I followed the advice the best I could. See my subsequent reply of findings:"Firstly, would you please tell us when and after what action this problem occurred?1. When the computer first boot up. Doesn't matter whether the monitor is on first or on after boot up. The screen flickers with vertical multi-color bands on the right or sometimes the whole screen. At times there are both vertical and horiztonal bands that form white fabric like pattern. Duration could last for 2 sec to good 5 seconds.2. When in use during any computer session. Very sporadic. Sometimes happens while surfing the net. Not always repeatable. In one particular session, every time I went to dpreview.com, it flickered. But it didn't happen again since.Secondly, please press Splendid key on LCD about 3 seconds to load the default settings.Did it and no change.Please replace another graphic card.Not possible but I have another laptop to test with. This laptop is much newer... 1 yr old. When switch to ASUS as external monitor, the same flickering happened, for long or short duration. But other than that, I did not experience other instances.Thirdly, please check if there is any updated BIOS or driver for your other PC components.Updated BIOS.Now the only times that it flickers are when the computer first boots up or when it goes in and out of screen saver or when the monitor is first turned on. I've not observed other in-session interruptions as before.Otherwise please change this LCD to another PC to test."Today, ASUS told me that this may be defective. I've proceeded to replace my unit via Amazon. Will update again in the future. Up to this point, ASUS customer service has been prompt.August 15, 2009:Requested Amazon for a replacement on Aug 11. Received a new unit 2 days later. Plugged it in. Not a single problem was observed. All flickering has been gone since. I have to commend the excellent customer services from both ASUS and Amazon. Couldn't be happier.

Monitor looks good. The LED backlid image is very good. But, it has problem to sync the HDMI input. It produced a smaller than full screen. Returned and not replaced. It is a popular model. I must got one of the unfortunately defective one.

The Monitor is beautiful and quite economical at this price range.The colors and images are sharp and clear. I cannot find the flaws regarding colors like some claimed, and I did not need to adjust colors to make it look good at all.The embedded speakers have a rather low volume even when turned to max. But that is exactly what I needed: a solution that does not disturb my neighbors while I am too tired to wear a headset. The speakers do have decent sound at low volume.The only drawback is that the monitor has rather hard to tune user interface...but that goes true for most of the monitors I encounter at school. I am still giving it a five star since with the the color presets (Splendid Video Intelligence Technology), I do not really need to mess with those controls much after initial setup.

I got this monitor after seeing it on sale for 165.99$ on Amazon after Mail-in-rebate. The monitor doesn't compete with other monitors for its full price at 205% with shipping. If you're looking for gaming monitor for a cheap price. This is the best one you'll find from price ranging 150-250.I placed the order on the 24th, and selected 1 day shipping. Item is arriving on the 8th of the next month. Amazon wouldn't refund me the money for the shipping etheir. Monitor seems to be great yet to arrive. Will update once i get it for know you get a 3.

I took a little time before pulling the trigger to buy a new monitor, in the end I had my choice narrowed down to this one and a viewsonic. I'm very pleased with this monitor, I do play some games and it performs great on everything I have thrown at it. I suppose if there is anything negative to say about the monitor is that I don't really care for the stand too much, would have preferred something a little more sturdy, this one tends to wobble if I am too aggressive playing a game or something but as far as the performance, picture and quality of the monitor itself, I can't find anything bad to say about it.

Have had this for several months now.No issues whatsoever. It's bright and texts are crisp. Great for playing video games (I'm playing D3, Skyrim and WoW on it and it's beautiful). Low energy cost.No complain here about the stand. If you push it hard it will wobble, by why would you push it hard? Unless you live in a cargo building or someplace that has a lot of shock going through the building, this monitor will do you just fine !

Have an ASUS Transformer tablet and have been extremely happy with that so was leaning towards them for monitors when shopping around; after a good bit of research this looked like one of the better products on the market in it's price range. High contrast ratio really does make a noticeable difference. Colors are very vivid and high refresh rate makes for very smooth motion. We'll see how it holds up over time but as the tablet that I have has done great so far I expect no problems. Another quality ASUS product.

I bought this monitor to play my ps3 on an hook up my netbook to while deployed in Kuwait. The size is perfect, because I can put on top of a wall locker (I'm on top bunk) and it is does not take up a lot of room and it is not as noticeable. The integrated speakers are great and it has a headphone port so no one else in the bay will be disturbed by whatever your doing. The screen resolution is great and I didn't have to make any adjustments to the picture settings. No dead pixels and it does its job. I know it's just a monitor but I wish I had a remote for it. It gets a little annoying to have to push the input button on the monitor itself to switch from HDMI, VGA, and DVI. I guess that would be the only flaw that I can think of, if you can call it that. The price is real fair too.

With the sale, this monitor is very nice. Shipping was good, no dead pixels and started right up with HDMI input. People seem to talk about the ghosting, which I do not see. I do have to agree that the settings out of the box aren't the best, but who cares? Usually when you get a new monitor its best to calibrate it to your likings anyways.

This is my first monitor purchase and I am so glad that I made this decision! I was very hesitant at first with the reviews of the red saturation and from many sources this seemed to be the consensus. I decided that if it was too bad then I would return the monitor. This was the case however, yet at the same time it can be easily adjusted to fix the problem. I played around with it for about 5-10 minutes and it is now perfect for my daily use (course work/watching lectures), watching movies and Hulu, and for the occasional game or two that I partake in. I hooked it up to my Mac Book Pro and am using the HDMI hookup, which works like a dream! I have had no issues and the people at ASUS are phenomenal in the customer care department. Overall I would highly recommend this company and I would also recommend this specific model for anyone interested in getting a breathtaking display that is HUGE!

This is a very easy-to-use, bright, clear LED monitor with a thin bezel. I appreciate the fact it has VGA/DVI and HDMI inputs. You do get a better image quality using the digital inputs versus VGA. We love the 3 year warranty; given our Viewsonic lasted 1 YEAR and died shortly after the warranty (and is now in the garbage!) The speakers could be better. Some people prefer glossy screens, but this was a gift for my husband he prefers the matte screen. The color reproduction is excellent and the refresh rate is more than acceptable. With the 3 year warranty, this is a great buy! But use external speakers!

If this monitor had an adequate stand I would have given it four stars.As it was my eyes defaulted to a good 3-4 inches over the top when the stand was fully extended. It also wobbled far too much any time I moved. After a couple hours I got a kink in my neck from looking down at it and increasingly got irritated by the shaking. I thought about mounting it on my wall but there is no way to do that, the stand mounts from the bottom. I decided to return it.The screen was nice, the colors good and I had no problems with ghosting. If only ASUS had spend another $20-25 on a better stand.

This monitor went above and beyond. It is outstanding in every aspect it has great colors and is extremely nice when playing video games and watching movies. Only one dead pixel ONE! Thats pretty good if you ask me.

Received the monitor promptly from Amazon. Very good LED monitor . Setup was not easy. I wish they had included a sheet how to configure the monitor. Anyway with the help of my son we got this monitor configured.Disappointed with the quality of the speakers.Overall recommend the monitor for the Asus quality.

This monitor looks great and sounds Bad. But the thing that made me send it back was the ghosting (i tried to set trace free to 40 and it didn't work). If you plan to game on this don't buy it!!

Apart from the anti-glare (that due to not being mentioned in the specs on any site, I was unaware was on this monitor), it's an excellent monitor. The annoying part about the anti-glare (for those that don't know) is that it makes the monitor look like someone has sprayed it with water or smeared grime all over it. When watching movies from afar, you won't notice it; however, if you use it every day as a second (or third) monitor, you'll be constantly reminded of that annoying aspect.

Over all I'm un-impressed. I knew when I ordered the monitor that it was only listed at a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio and it wasn't the sharpest monitor on the market. The display quality is lacking compared to most displays I've seen recently.The built in audio is nice and works well with the HDMI audio input. When I'm not using it as a second monitor I have an Apple TV connected to it.I have found that while using the monitor with my Macbook Pro ITunes won't allow me to display HD DRM content such as TV shows or Movies on the monitor warning that the monitor isn't compliant with the DRM. Honestly the videos look much better on the Macbook display and there may be a trivial solution the DRM issue but I thought it was worth mentioning in the review.

have to use dvi hookup before it is reconized on pc, then can use hdmi hookup. great picture out of box, a little wobbly on its stand, but not unless your moving the desk around. overall a great buy for the options you get and picture is outstanding. just wish Asus would eliminate the speakers, although i don't use them, don't expect much from them.

I was very happy with my previous monitor (older Dell Ultrasharp) but was looking to move up in size and to a wide format. So, despite the positive reviews here, I was only cautiously optimistic that I wouldn't miss my tried and true screen.Well, after the most minimal of adjustments to settings, I can't believe I didn't do this sooner! Fantastic! The look of text, scrolling, color, brightness are unbelieveably good.No one should be looking at this as a cheap way out from buying a high-end, $500+ pro superscreen. You'd be disappointed. Those are professional for a reason. But if you're considering this one, you should definitely get it. While this screen is NOT a supermodel, it IS the hottest one I've ever gone out with--and people will wonder what it's doing with a guy like me. :)

I decided to pick this panel up after recommendations from several of my friends as well as reading numerous reviews...and I'm very impressedPros:-The screen is crisp, clean, and bright.-No problems with any of the inputs (all three are populated)-The speakers are a nice touch (albeit don't expect anything spectacular)-An incredible value fr the price, as I've seen monitors of a similar size that cost twice as much that don't work nearly as well-The 2ms response time is an incredible touch for gaming, as the response seems to be snappy with no visible lagCons:-The menus are difficult to navigate, as the controls are inconsistentOther comments:-The first unit that I received, had a stuck pixel out of the box almost in the middle of the screen, but Amazon promptly replaced it and it seems to work perfectly-I've read numerous reviews that have complained of the buttons are hard to press...but I fail to experience that myself-The preset modes aren't actually that bad...albeit I usually stick to the "gaming" preset.

I bought this monitor tentatively based on some other substandard reviews. I'm glad I pulled the trigger though. This monitor is, well I think the title sums it up best, gorgeous. There were no dead pixels and the item was well packaged upon receipt. First off I must dispell the "ghosting" rumor. There is zero ghosting on my monitor. It's running on a GTX 460 1gb graphics card with a mini HDMI-HDMI connection. I have watched high definition content online, blu-ray movies, and used various applications trying my hardest to find a flaw, but to no avail. It performs seamlessly. Moreover, the colors and factory presets were spot on. Some reviewers stated they had to spend hours calibrating this monitor before it was remotely viewable. I can't understand or relate to this in any way. I was more afraid to adjust the settings at all because it was already perfect right out of the box. I've also read some reviewers stating that you need to use a DVI before you can switch to HDMI. This is also not true. I started with the HDMI and after changing the input selection to HDMI the screen loaded right up. The initial display was at an old resolution for some reason but all it took was a reboot and I was viewing full 1080p.Moving on, the stand is secure but not the most stable. Let me explain, it's definitely not going to spontaneously fly off your desk however, if you have a desk or computer cart that moves then the monitor will wobble. Seems like more of a safety feature though because the base remains glued to the surface but the monitor jiggles a bit to absorb the motion. This is the only thing that could be considered a flaw. Other then that Asus has released 24 inches of brilliantly vivid glory. This monitor is remarkably clear while remaining very easy on the eyes. Not to mention energy efficient running at around 30 watts. Do yourself a favor and grab one, for $200 you can't do better.

I bought this monitor to use in a dual monitor set-up with my desktop computer. I had limited space and this was the right size to fit next to another monitor I already had. I liked the built in speakers and brightness of the display. My only negative is that the monitor does not have its own drivers to control features. You only have the default drivers that come with Windows OS. Overall a very good pick for the size and my video requirements.

As a monitor, you can't go wrong when you pick asus - they're monitors are some of the most trusted brand.However, I picked out this monitor to go dual-monitor with my VE247H. I figured, same model line but just slightly bigger (23.6 vs 24 in) so why not. To my dismay, the display is completely off. After fooling around with it for hours, i got it to "kind of be close" where I had to change the settings on my 23.6 to match this one - settings that were nowhere near as good as my original. These settings probably would not be so noticeable had I not put them side by side to run a dual monitor setup, but if you were planning on doing so - it will be very frustrating.

As I wasn't expecting to write this review this fast, I'm slightly in shock!Ordered this on Feb 23rd, Paid for the 3-5day Standard Shipping. Recieved this Friday 2/25. Talk about fast? Amazon tracking still shows it is "Shipping Soon". Props to the Amazon and ANTonline for fast processing/shipping/delivery. Wasn't expecting this thing until next week!Out of box, yes the colors are horrible, Red/Blue/Green all turned up to 100%. Simply setting this to Theatre Mode fixed it, but to ever go off of a "Splendid Mode" you need to manually adjust those. I'm not going to dock stars because of Out Of Box Look, this is expected.This monitor is awesome. I haven't noticed any Ghosting, nor have I seen any Dead Pixels. There's no White visibly shown through around the edges, and the black is Black. The image is just awesome.I Jumped into World of Warcraft to check out the view, 10x better than my older 20" LCD. The colors just Pop out at you. It's amzing.The ONLY 2 negative comments I can make, although I knew this by reading hundreds of reviews first, is that you HAVE to hook up to DVI/VGA and adjust the settings to HDMI to run from an HDMI cable. Doesn't take more than 30 seconds, you can leave the HDMI cable plugged in while you do it, and you can unplug the DVI/vga cable immediately and it will Auto Refresh onto the HDMI slot.The 2nd negative is that the speakers suck. I didn't purchasse this Monitor for the system as I have a 5.1 Surround hooked up to my PC. Quite frankly I don't know anyone looking for a monitor because of the SOUND, but if you are, look elsewhere. You aren't going to get amazing sound past High pitch (Take your car stereo, turn the Bass and Mids as low as they can go, Turn the Treble all the way up, this is what you get from these speakers).

I've had this Asus monitor for 3 weeks now. It arrived well-packaged by Amazon and was in perfect working order. No dead pixels. Because other reviews of this monitor mentioned ghosting as a problem, I did my own informal tests to see for myself. I was able to observe ghosting only once, under the most extreme conditions. Under ordinary use (productivity apps such as photoediting and watching movies) this past 3 weeks, I have not been aware of ghosting at all.My only minor gripe is that the written instructions for adjusting the monitor settings are a little too sketchy. I resolved this by going to the Asus web site and downloading the manual in PDF format. The PDF manual is easier to read, and PDF allows me to magnify the small font to a legible size.All in all, I find this monitor to be excellent in all respects. It is a replacement for my LG 22 inch LCD monitor, which has served me well this past three years. This Asus however, is bigger, brighter, crisper, shows better resolution, and is more adjustable than my old LG. I highly recommend it.

Bought this as an upgrade for my old Samsung 2243bwx 22" monitor. Although that monitor was only a 3-4 years old, the technology now is leaps and bounds better than what is was a few years back. Got this ASUS VS248H-P in the mail today and noticed a huge difference immediately. The Samsung had a DCR of 8000:1, and the ASUS has 50000000:1!!! The blacks are blacker and the bright colors jump out at you. Keep in mind that I'm not an expert in displays and haven't really experienced a newer monitor for any long duration of time, so this review is kind of biased on the point of my ignorance & unfamiliarity. It's also biased on the fact that I've been a big fan of ASUS. I have personally had great experience with them and have been more and more impressed with their products over the years. They have really stepped up their game recently. So if you're not looking to make the jump to a 27-30" monitor, want to spend under $200 ($195 from Amazon), want a breathtaking display and have various display ports...then do yourself a favor and get this, you won't regret it at all!

I usually create four red, green, blue and white images at screen's native resolution (1920x1080 for this one) then view them in full-screen slideshow to test new monitors for dead pixels. I did the same with this monitor and found no dead pixel but something else instead. What I found is that about 5~7 pixel columns on the right side of the screen are dimmer than the rest of the screen with the dimmest column to far right. I returned it for a replacement and the got a new one however it have the same issue. I am guessing that it might me a batch defect or maybe they are all like that.I gave this product 3 star because I love every other features on it such as light weight, splendid colors, nice contrast, a clean onscreen user interface and thickness/thinness.
