This router is really awesome! The signal is very good, and the three working models are really good for home and office. I have tried all the working models, it all works well! And the price is very reasonable compared with Cisco. I definitely recommend this router!

I bought this router and use it for 3 months with Tomato. I have a hard time keeping my router at 250/300 mbps transfer and it falls between 20 mhz and 40 mhz bandwidth. My neighourhood around me all use b/g when I do the wireless survey. And I have to do hard reset once a week. Now I got the Linksys E2000 and this router aways stay at 40 mhz bandwidth and I get 250/350 mbps no problem. Same location and same tomato software! You make the call!Good thing is that the price is cheaper than most N router and you can flash DD-WRT or Tomato.

Hi,I bought this router from amazon. The day I got it and I plugged in to the power outlet, it was fine for 5 mints, then it went to power off.Then I waited for 2 to 3 mints, then power it up, it was ok and I was working fine for 10 to 15 days, then it automatically powered down.Then I have to return to amazon. I thanks amazon that they refund my money since it is within 30 days of time.

I tried to use it 2 months after I bought from amazon. Turns out that the Lan gigabit port #1 does not work. I paid for gigabit lan and expected all 4 ports to work. Bad Asus QA. Bad Asus support page. Very confusing warranty repair procedure.

I've used 54g, various netgear and various other linkysy routers.This one is top cake. 128MB !!!! RAM - I have no trouble with dropped connections, P2P, streaming video. It is the best, fastest, router i can find today - I do not regret the purchase - I would like to send everyone i know one of these routers.The very nice thing - is that you can even go further with it and install tomatoUSB or DD-WRT - Which takes this little beauty to a whole other level.Just today i got my N16 working as an IPV6 tunnel! It has great potential - and on top of this - the defaults worked fine for the few days that i ran them.A tweakers dream - or someone who is looking for a router that will go the distance and is very likely to be considered memorable technology artifact.

I have purchased a number of things from Asus over the years (motherboards, video cards, etc). I have never been disappointed. They even make Android tablets now. I will have one of those very soon.Gotta love a company that makes stuff that works.

Nothing spectacular here but for the price you can't complain.If you are getting this router for casual wireless browsing I would highly recommend it. If you want loads of features, DD-WRT, QoS management, or if gaming is super important to you, consider looking elsewhere.I would recommend leaving all of the settings at default. I used "EasyQoS" thinking it would improve my latency and connection (for gaming) and it actually made things much worse. Don't waste your time messing with the configurations, just update the firmware, quickstart the router, and enable security. Leave the rest alone.Again, it is what is it; a good, cheap router.

This ASUS RT-N16 replaces an elder WRT54G that has been running my home network without many issues for the last 5 years. I really didn't have a pressing need to replace the older router, I just wanted to be N-ready and capable of using Gigabit network speeds on my wired connections.I bought this router based upon other reviews that confirmed that third party firmware can be loaded without issue. This was important to me as I like to use WOL and other features in the Tomato firmware. I only used the stock firmware long enough to make sure the router worked before I replaced it with Tomato(with USB support).So far the router has been working great for the last few months. I hope I can get many more years out of it. My only complaints at this time are that the router is single band, which I understand to mean that it won't run at N speeds if any G or lower devices are connected, and the annoying blue lights.

The repeater is weak in range, even weaker than my notebook. You can use it only when the wireless singal is medium or higher. However it works when you find a place where the singal is strong enough, and it's very easy to setup as a repeater.

Great little 802.11n router for ipv6 with DD-WRT! Wired and wireless connectivity have remained stable so far. Though the appearance of the plastic is a bit flimsy and it runs a little warm, there isn't much in the way of cons-- put it somewhere that it can ventilate and not fall down. I got this router up and running DD-WRT with ipv6 6rd tunneling to my provider. I didn't bother futzing with the stock firmware. The latest DD-WRT as of this writing has ipv6 kernel modules, but no actual ipv6 firewall installed (ip6tables). At 32 Megs, (about 6 used by DD-WRT and the rest formattable for jffs)-- this router provides enough space to setup your ip6tables kernel modules and client in jffs partition to get a nice ipv6 firewall going, and thensome!

1. Very easy to setup2. Provides multiple SSID support which allowed me to create one network for my home devices with maximum security and then create another for DS which doesn't support AES etc.3. Range is great... I have not tried really far but up to 100ft from this router across 3 walls and few trees, I was still able to get 3 bars and great internet reception4. I get max of 144Mbps sitting next to it and don;t have the data for farther out casesCONS1. Interface is not really there yet although it is pretty good. It is difficult to know how to check connected devices for various SSIDs. Moreover simply giving each connected device a name was challenge2. LEDs are really bright - so don;t have this router in your bedroom. will keep you awake :-)OVERALLGo for it.... really nice product and I am happy so far

This is a great router for installing Tomato from [...] on it. It shows then its full potential with minidlna for sharing content from hard drive. Minidlna is the only open implementation of DLNA standard working well with Samsung TVs.

I needed this as a repeater, and it works as advertised. It picks up a wifi signal coming from my garage at about 2 bars and blasts it at 5 bars for all the rooms and patio in the front apartment. No complaints, so far.

I've been using this for about a week and half and so far its been excellent. Set up was a breeze. This is the first ASUS product I've ever bought and so far cant complain. I am not sure about longevity of the product, as I just bought it. Last router I had was by Cisco and it lasted me for at least 4 years.

I was a little skeptical when I first received the product, but so far so good! I did have a little trouble getting it connected initially, but I figured that out after a few minutes. I went from a 1 bar connection on the opposite side of my house, to a full connection. Great connection, great speed, very happy customer!

Asus makes great hardware. Here is an N router with good specs for pennies compared to equivalent hardware. The router has 4MB of memory for flashing a new firmware. It has 32MB of RAM. It's running the Broadcom 4716 chipset. That puts this router in the same class as much more expensive competitors. Funny though that the router suggests in its documentation that it can be flashed with custom firmware. I use it as the hub for 2 wire computers and a laptop. Sometimes add in a smartphone. It is quick with all of them and has had zero problems.From the reviews it is apparent they don't spend time on their own firmware. The default look of the firmware was pretty cheap. Putting on a custom firmware makes it a beast that will consistantly act as an AP, Client Bridge, or Repeater with too many featers. I flashed it the minute I got it with the custom DD-WRT firmware built specifically for this model and it is as powerful as any router. No temporary drops, no slow downs, no connection problems. I recommend this to anyone who wants a cheap but powerful router, and has enough technical know how to flash it to take advantage of it. If you are willing to try, just read the DD-WRT forums, it is all explained there.

Used with DD-WRT, these are fantastic routers. I've setup 4 across the building and have completely blanketed the area with connectivity, (including an area with no ethernet access via WDS) I never tested the built in firmware as the first thing I did upon opening the box was flashing DD-WRT.I've been a WRT54G user from the beginning using Tomato, OpenWRT, and DD-WRT across various routers. DD-WRT has matured into an amazing platform and when looking for a complete upgrade I ended up with the ASUS RT-N16. Completely reliable and fast, with tons of memory space to install additional modules. The USB ports are great as well for NAS and Time Machine/Windows/rsync backups. Overall highly recommended.

I bought this as a DD-WRT compatible router to replace my (annoyingly bad) Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH, which never seemed to work.I've been very pleased with the ASUS, and overall it's been quite stable, doing everything I've asked of it. I typically have experienced uptimes of 40+ days, and (obviously) I'm not keeping up on the bleeding edge of the DD-WRT firmware. It works, does it's job, and gets a lot of bytes pushed through it.If you're looking for a solid router that will do the job without complaint, this is a great choice.

I bought this to run DD-WRT. Before I flashed the DD WRT firmware I setup the router with the shipping firmware as a hardware QA. I left the router running overnight and by the morning it was dropping packets all over the place. I upgraded to the latest firmware and the router couldn't get an IP address from my ISP.I went ahead and installed DD-WRT with optware and this thing is rock solid.

This router looks super cool...I love the blue leds with white/silver look.Performance wise, this router gets the job done excellent. No lag. This was with the stock firmware. Later I placed DD-WRT on it and love it. This router is a steal for the money. I have my PC, xbox 360, and blu ray player hooked up to it. I use the radio for my cell phone and laptop and that works great to.

Purchased this router to use as a repeater to extend wireless network. Once setup unit works well, but the install was a bit more dificult than the instruction claim. The interface did not launch on its own as described, and could not obtain stable connection using wpa encription. If you have a little bit of network knowledge you will be fine.

Received item pretty quick. It took my husband less than 5 minutes to set up. Gives excellent reception! Have not had bad connections at all. I have had NO problems with it. Great price, its cheaper here at amazon than any other store that have them in stock. VERY satisfied with product!!!!

This is a great router and even better if you change the OFW and install DD-WRT.1- 32mb of flash memory. The mega version of DD-WRT looks small right now, it barely uses 8mb.2- 128mb of RAM. This will allow you to have a lot of services running without problems.3- 480Mhz Broadcom CPU4- 2 USB2.0 Ports. Printer, Scanner, Hard Disk, Webcam, etc...5- Full Gigabit!!! All ports, even WAN, are Gigabit ports.6- 3G modem support (tested with DD-WRT)The only con is that it is NOT A DUAL BAND ROUTER, it only works on the 2.4Ghz bandRight know I'm using this router as OpenVPN server at home, at work, I use them as OpenVPN client on remote locations.Never had a problem with any of them.[...]
