Ne pas acheter ! En plus je n'ai pas pu être rembourser !
From a feature perspective, it has all I could possibly need and more. Wifi 6, 2.5gbe (though not very useful until someone starts building 2.5gb routers), Bluetooth 5.1, all easy to use and good reception. Occasionally I pick up the wifi from a nearby hotel that's gotta be at least a quarter of a mile away. I'll probably never use all the available USB ports, but it's got loads of them in every flavor that's relevant in 2020. (At least one good thing to say about 2020.) I'm strictly a headphone user, but it's got superb 7.1 audio available, too. I can't even think of something I would like to have that isn't there.
Overclocking is a piece of cake, especially for newbies. I've got my proc running at 4.8GHz, and 3200MHz on the memory and it's completely stable. Could probably do even better if I really knew what I was doing, but I'm just relying on the AI overclocking for now.
Conventional wisdom is that the LGA1200 socket is going to support at least up to 11th Gen when it comes out (and Intel's 7nm woes make that even more likely), so future drop in upgradeability is built in. Also a good chance (but no guarantees) that it will support PCIe 4.0 when it shows up on the processors, though I'm not sure how useful that will be until several generations down the line.
If gaming is your primary concern, this MB paired with the 10600K is where it's at today. For a productivity heavy workload, AMD is probably still a better bet, but personally I'll only be using some light to moderate Photoshop work, and possibly future personal/youtube video editing so I have no need to push things to the productivity limit with the radical price increases involved in doing so. YMMV.
Overall, a strong recommend from me on this product.
(Disclosure: By posting this review I am eligible for a 90 day warranty extension, but as the base is 3 years that's not a big deal. The opinions herein are my own and were not influenced by this bonus, just happy timing as I was planning to post a review anyway.)
1. Memory slot it too close to cpu. Makes it almost impossible to install a air cooling fan.
2. bios instructions are not user friendly
The only issue I did have with the board is with the included optional chipset fan. I installed it for kicks, but it doesn't do a thing. Not once has the fan spun up or even been registered in BIOS. Not sure if the fan itself is dead or if it's an issue with that fan controller.
Aside from that, this is a fantastic board with typical ASUS quality and the best BIOS in the biz. Would recommend.
Pros:
-solid construction
-tons of options in bios
-software aka "bloatware" is really handy and I like it
-packaging and accessories are a bonus
-lighting
Cons:
-on board leds are dim
-firmware outdated
-AIO blocks ram (need to re-orient cpu heatsink)
-wifi, i dont need it ( or do I? see below)
-Armoury crate has old drivers (check website)
-The extra fan was installed but no clue how that works ...
Suggestions:
-download the software armoury crate, AI suite 3, ez updater
-Go to the website and download the latest drivers, Armoury crate is outdated
- get the 707 firmware and install it using the AI suite3 custom firmware installer
==> download from the site, run the renamer, copy the renamed file onto a clean usb and plug it into the bios port in the back, then browse from AI suite updater and hit update on the bottom right. PC reboots twice be patient and don't touch anything.
-Install the WIFI antenna, YOU need it for Bluetooth. I didn't and couldn't understand why my Bluetooth has zero distance and figured it uses the Wi-Fi antenna. I don't use WIFI but am hard wired and disabled WIFI in device manager.
-Lights staying on after shutdown ? Go into bios>advanced>APM Config> ERP > enable (S4+S5)
ASUS HAS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE!
This is completely unacceptable. These are currently the most expensive Z490 ITX boards, with the least amount of power stages leading to the hottest VRM in the high end. And to add reliability issues on top of that? They should issue a recall and take all of these boards off the shelf until they figure out what the problem is. I was hoping ASUS would bring back high end small form factor to the Zx90 platforms like they have for AMD's X570 in their ROG Crosshair VIII Impact. Now I'm just happy I didn't spend $400+ on unreliable board that is supposed to be the best.
Got a second one to fix the USB issue, only new change to the system and now the PC will randomally shutdown after 20 minutes, no BSOD. Just a hard freeze, and then shut down.
The board look great and had all the features I wanted let's see how the replacement is.
You are able to set some UEFI settings to non values. Like you can set your vCORE to "Q" if you wanted on the BIOS version I was sent.
The VRM fan NEVER turned on. After I contacted support they literally had no answer. VRM fan curve can not be changed. VRM fan is a gimmick on this board [literally none of them work] check other reviews / forum posts.
The manual explains you can use the PUMP fan headers to control a PWM fan at any value. This is not true. It just runs at 100% all the time. The included manual is misleading.
The wifi drivers included from the UEFI are broken. Wifi drivers from their website are broken. Bluetooth never worked. During install of UEFI the motherboard kept setting PCI_M2_1 as primary boot and install drive [This drive goes thru the PCH and is not directly connected to the CPU] No way to set PCI_M2_0 as primary boot drive easily. I had to unplug my PCI_M2_0 to install windows to the correct drive.
Board was scratched, chipped, and dented in a few places due to sloppy screw installs at the factory. Foam packing for the board was good tho.
The cover for the M.2 drives is a giant pain in the butt if you have a GPU or CPU cooler installed.
Go with any other board. Over clocking was a hassle. One of the worst boards I ever had to deal with. And the "AI fan auto tuning" crap seemingly can not be disabled. And caused my fans to constantly ramp up and down. It made "Vroommm. VRoommm. VRooomm" noises.
Everything considered. I'd rather take a tub with a 12 pack of Amazon basics toasters.
My CPU warranty is void and I'm salty about that.
Function: I have had no issues with the board thus far. The RGB lights have had no issues, the troubleshooting two digit pad present on the board works as desired, and the BIOS accomplishes its task. No connectivity issues and this included when I installed a non-Asus GPU (installed immediately)
BIOS: Very easy to work with, I used this to maximize the RAM memory frequency. This was easily accomplished. I did not explore the more advanced functions as I do not know enough about them.
Compatibility with components: no compatibility issues with Intel 10th gen CPU, DDR4 RAM, EVGA GeForce RTX 2060, case RGB, case power buttons, PSU.
Quality: clearly high quality and the aesthetics of the board are very nice. Were I to somehow drop my case off the desk, I would see the board surviving the fall no problem.
Verdict: more expensive motherboard that comes with attractive aesthetics and functionality needed for a gamer or researcher (myself more of the latter). 5/5, highly recommend if you have the money for it. I have not tried other boards (this is my first build), so cannot compare it to less expensive MoBos
I have asked for a replacement and we will see if that one works. I will update once I receive.
Update: Replacement is working.
Update week 1: would turn off without any warnings and restart.
-Pros, good VRM temps, stable bios, easy to use software and lighting. Easy install and access to headers, good build quality and feature rich.
-Cons, The "smart AI" is absolutely terrible. Like it will shove 1.5V into your CPU if you tell it you have a water cooler and follow the "training" process. Effectively what it tries to do is have you setup what cooling solution you have in the BIOS and proceeds to have you load up the computer on cinebench a couple of times and trains the algorithm with the data to fine tune your Voltage, Temps, and Clocks. Good on paper, terrible in practice. I have a 10700k, intel CPU's are not happy above 1.35v, I have no Idea why they think shoving 1.5v is safe or a good idea regardless of temps. That type of voltage will destroy a CPU easily within a couple months. Either disable it and enforce all of Intels limits and play with your boost duration and speed profiles or manually dial in an OC but do not use the Auto OC feature! Also Intel needs to get their stuff together when it comes to the LAN drivers on the board, it works but it's extremely unstable and doesn't seem to be an RMA issue but really immature LAN and Wifi6 drivers. The Bluetooth also suffers the same fate as all three are wrapped in the same chip-set.
Conclusion:
Besides these faults it's a great board. I've manually OC'd at 5.0 Ghz on my 10700k w/ the lowest voltage I can run to stay stable. My VRM stays cool, the M.2 Drives run cool under the heat sinks provided, everything else works as expected, RAM has no issues and the BIOS is stable. That being said it's a 300$ Mobo, I expect stuff to work regardless of age tbh it's premium product especially when good OC boards can be had for 100-200$ max.
TLDR: If you have a LAN/Wifi Card or adapter and a Blue tooth adapter than this board will be fine, if not then look elsewhere it's not worth the money when key features don't even work. It's not just me, this is a problem for every user that owns this mobo. Happy with it but kinda disappointed.
I bought this board and cpu to replace my 8700k and rog hero mobo that only lasted 2 years almost to date. Think this will be Asus' s. Last chance before I jump ship to another brand.
I wish i read more user experiences before buying
