First impressions after having used an Android device for the last 10 years (Samsung S3, HTC One, Motorola Defy, and on and on)
1) It's small. Why did Apple wait so dang long to come out w/ the larger iPhone 6? The screen on this thing is tiny...no way around it. It's small.
2) I can't customize my homepages? What??? I guess I'll get used to it, but WTF? Why does Apple lock this down?
3) The buttons rattle when I set the phone down. So much for the AMAZING Apple build quality I'm always hearing about.
4) Setup - seems like any bit of customization or setting I need to play with on an ap I have to go into the main settings menu (not the ap menu). This seems too "clicky"
On a positive note:
1) the call quality is really good. Had major issues on my HTC One w/ call quality.
2) LTE speed for whatever reason is faster on this phone than w/ my HTC. Top speed I ever saw on the HTC was ~30mbps...now I'm getting 40+ mbps from the same location.
3) I can still sync my google contacts and listen to all the music i have on my google drive...ah, phew!
Will keep updating...just thought I'd throw out some first impressions from a longtime Andoid user.

Although the description did not say so, these phones (I bought 2) were shipped without SIM cards. I am told that this is usual for phones sold on Amazon or e-Bay, although I have no idea why this should be true for new phones.
This caused me considerable trouble, as the 3 area Sprint stores I called claimed they did not have any SIM cards for the Apple iPhone 5s, but they could order them and probably get them in in 2-3 weeks. One store quoted me a price of $35 per SIM card, and another wanted $36. I was also told that I could not get the Sprint SIM cards I needed at an Apple store. This was NOT acceptable, but if you read Sprint forums online, it appears that it is not unusual. The Sprint stores REALLY want you to buy your phone from them, not Amazon, or Apple, or elsewhere...and they offer the 16GB 5s at the full retail price of $649.99 (plus tax, of course).
Luckily, I had also called Apple Tech Support about the problem of the missing SIM cards (1-888-My-Apple). They called the local Apple store while I was on the phone with them, and informed me that not only did the Apple store have the Sprint SIMs in stock, but that they would provide them to me free of charge. Now that's better.
We were able to easily install the SIM cards and then take the phones to the local Sprint store to have them activated (you can no longer do this online, unfortunately). This was a very long process because we wanted to keep our current phone numbers, but eventually we were able to get everything squared away.
Moral of the story: buy the phone from Amazon (great deal), call Apple Tech support, procure a SIM card, install it, and THEN and ONLY THEN, consult Sprint.

This is for those who haven't purchased one yet and are expecting the Second Coming. I bought mine through a wireless service. I did not abuse the device. A little over a year later, the screen is curling up and away from the case. The battery can be fully charged and not used. One hour later, the battery reads 12%. That's more garbage then I am willing to put up with. This messes me up when anybody mentions Apple's quality. "Quailty is conformance to requirements" (I did some Quality Engineering in the aerospace industry). This product does not meet my requirements. I have just purchased a different phone. I'll get back to you if it too falls apart. Let me add that at one time I owned a Blackberry. I took that to the Suffolk County, New York Shotgun Range and "offed" it with a Beretta 682E 12 gauge shotgun. I get a little upset when things do not work as advertised.

I bought this item as a gift for my mom in China, before I buy this item, I thought this is a new phone in sealed box with a free case and car charger. After two days I bought this item, this seller did not give me any tracking number for this item. So, I contact with them, they told me that I did not use an expedited shipping, so, they cannot send me the free case and car charger. BUT they "care deeply" for their customer, so, they send a free case to me. I thought this seller are very nice.
Afterwards, I thought this should be a new phone in a sealed box with a free case. However, it is not after I received it. I contact with the seller several times and try to ask an exchange of an actual new phone without activation in a sealed box for this item. First, seller told me that this phone is new, not secondhand piece, they just open it to check if it is work fine ( They told me that they got this item from apple warehouse and the apple factory unlock it, so, I do not understand what they are checking for?) . Second, The seller told me I have to ship the phone they send to me to them first in order to send another new one to me. I cannot wait any longer, because my friend back to China soon (Seller knows that). Then, I told seller, even this is a new phone, it is in an unsealed box, it is not worth $680. Then, seller just ask me to return the phone to them and indicates that they do not want to talk about this anymore. As the same reason, I cannot wait any long. In the end, I have to take this phone. I swear if I have to buy a phone next time, I will not buy it from here. For Iphone, I will buy it from iphone factory directly .

I wanted to switch from android to iPhone and also switch to Verizon . I was on the Boost Sprint network which had spotty coverage in my area.verizon has a $45 pre paid plan which is working quite well for me so far.
now to the iPhone 5 s:
I really like the 4 inch screen, the iPhone fits in my hand and it is easier to navigate all the apps. I find typing with the keyboard much easier. I always had trouble using the keyboard on my galaxy s3, even with different keyboards.
the iPhone is not as customizable as android but I can live with that.
so far, the battery has lasted over 2 days and is still at 32%. this is since I activated it 2 days ago.True, I am still setting it up but I will manually sync my iPhone with iTunes. my android phone was driving me nuts, always updating several times a day from google play. my battery lasted around 1 1/2 to 2 days. if the iPhone is similar, I will be happy.
all in all I am very pleased with my new, pre owned iPhone 5s. buying from amazon warehouse or fulfilled by amazon is the way to go!

Well this seller is a tricky one, it says that is selling a new iphone but it does not come with a case (forget about a seal case) even if it come with the protective plastic on the display of the phone and accessories (at least), the phone arrive with a DING close to the upper right rail corner pretty visible. Also, came LOCKED even if it says that he sell them unlocked, I contact seller and after struggling for a couple days, he finally unlocked it (thank god, I was so pist due). Also he said that he was going to give a discount (I thought he was going to give me at least $100), he want it to give me 30 dlls wich I totally refuse it !! He ask me how much do I think is fair and told him that $100 would be it, He said that is to much money so he ended up giving me $50 (not happy). All this dealing whit the seller last more than 2 weeks (a waste of time). In conclusion, I been having the iphone for a little more than 2 weeks and is been working fine but I would not buy another phone from this seller, is to much Hustle + I have the feeling that the iphone might not even be a new one. Aahhh !!! I forgot to say that shipping takes 1 more week that what its says.

Hello to all my fellow distinguished and esteemed iPhone users! Initially when I entered the world of the iPhone experience, I was a little timid and apprehensive about this pervasively popular communications device. That was pre July 3, 2013. I first got an iPhone 4. I thought I would be overwhelmed! But alas, once I put in all my passwords for apps and email I was able to discover for myself what a truly remarkable phone the venerable late Steve Jobs helped to create as furthering the cutting edge of Apple computers.
Since my dealings with the iPhone 4 and a few iPhone 5c devices, I now have the fastest, most reliable smartphone ever! It is, of course, the iPhone 5S. I absolutely thrive on it and love every aspect of it! The camera is superb, the battery life is wonderful and it is almost instantaneous the way the Internet comes to life so easily, it's almost daunting how fast it is!
And the charge is really quick as well.
I could not imagine any other phone in the foreseeable future for me. Thank you Apple and your head designer Sir Jonathan Ive for assembling all the great products Apple has to offer.

I mean it's an iPhone. It's easy to use, sleek, syncs with my Macbook Pro, and does everything I need it to do. The colors are WAY brighter and more vivid than the 4s. It's actually off putting at times. I dread getting a text from someone who doesn't use iMessages because the green is SO bright. It's slimmer and smaller than the 4s, which is part of the general appeal, but it's taken me some getting used to. The camera, both front-facing and back, are way better than the 4s too. I haven't taken that many pictures but the ones I have were awesome (and I took some great ones with my 4s). I feel like there are more options to customize on this one than the 4s, too, even though without jailbreaking your phone it's still pretty standard Apple stuff. I just shove all the pre-installed apps I don't like into a folder and never touch it.

I highly recommend buying any smartphone (new or used) ONLY from your cell carrier or directly from the manufacturer (like Apple). Otherwise, there is no way to 100% guarantee your phone is legitimate, and won't be locked by your carrier at some time in the future. It isn't worth the risk or the few bucks you might save in the short term. I learned all this the hard way, so take my advice and avoid going through it yourself. (By the way, I took all the recommended precautions, but still got burned. Luckily I was able to get my money refunded. For that I am VERY grateful.)
Note that Apple sells only through selected retailers. Amazon does not sell iPhones directly, but only by way of 3rd parties. I thought I was buying a new iPhone 5S legitimately here, but I later learned it was actually used, thus no longer covered under the warranty because I wasn't the original buyer with a properly dated sales receipt. Thanks to Amazon, I was able to get a full refund. Had I not checked with Apple right after my purchase however, I would probably not have known any of this until it was too late.
As for companies or individuals selling on eBay or Craig's List or whatever, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!

If you wish to use the Iphone for business, the following might be helpful. Note, as archaic as it sounds, the Iphone 5s has the limitations that you can not use the phone and internet at the same time. We moved from a Verizon Motorola Droid to a Verizon Iphone 5s and found: iphone takes 2 to 3 minutes to complete a call vs 3 seconds w/ Motorola droid (ie the apple cell technology is not as good as Motorola), the iphone drops more calls, IOS 8 is unstable and will cause the iphone screen to lock up or not respond for 2 to 5 seconds, the iphone will start playing music auto magically. This is very handy when trying to impress important clients. The Iphone battery life is no better than normal so keep your charger handy, the IOS GUI is confusing compared to Droid, eg: the phone app is worthless compared to droid. The default Apple calendar, email and keyboard are worthless for business use. However, the Iphone takes great pictures. Something you need after a serious client meeting when taking a selfie.... :)

I bought my iphone from Amazon Warehouse.
The cellphone is perfect, but the accessories are not. When I connected my iphone to my computer with the lightning, it cannot work. But it works well with my friend's lightning. So I compared my accessories with his, I found that they are quite different, and I am pretty sure his accessories are original beacuse he bought his iphone from apple store. Though my iphone is an used one, but it is "like new", and according to the definition of "like new", the accessories should be original, but mine are OEM.
I trust Amazon, but I feel hurt now.
I still believe Amazon is the best seller of the world, and I believe you can improve your service to a higher level.

Just what I needed!! I previously had a Samsung that was so slow and unresponsive in comparison with my iPhone. I am now a real convert to Apple. When I'm out and about I'm quickly on to the internet to get information, I've used the satnav to locate places, and facetime is just brilliant for keeping in contact with friends and family - for FREE. When we're travelling in Europe I can talk to my daughters and grandchildren, and I even keep in contact with cousins in America and Australia. It's lovely to see them as well as talk to them - and they show me their houses and things they've bought. Couldn't be better. I've even treated my daughters now. Brilliant.

A bit of background about me: my previous phone was an iPhone 4s and I've had the 3Gs and 3G. I have other Apple products. I'm not a head over heels Apple fan, but I do appreciate and am usually very satisfied with the Apple products I have.
When the iPhone 5 came out, I didn't feel that it the upgraded features were enough to spend on the upgrade. There were definitely features that were better than the 4s, but again, I don't need to get the new Apple iPhone just because it's new. However, given the speed claims on the 5s along with the bigger screen than the 4s and touch ID and LTE, I decided to go for it. Regardless of speed claims, when I received the phone and started using it, the speed increase was huge! the bigger screen is very nice to have. Seems like a good size to me (I'm not sold on the size of bigger phones). Even with the length increase it still feels good in your hand. The camera upgrades and LTE are great and not much more is needed to say on that.
On the touch ID, it's gotten more hype than I feel it deserves. I've never use a passcode on my phone, because I hated putting it in every time I got into my phone. I use my phone extensively so it was enough that I left it off. However, having the Touch ID has made it much easier to have more security on my phone. It rarely works if your finger is remotely wet. The nicest feature of the Touch ID is not having to put in the password when I buy apps. Not having to enter my password makes it much more convenient without losing security. Overall, it's a nice feature, but it needs a bit of work to make it truly efficient. Nothing out of the ordinary for a first time feature.
The feature I like about this phone is that it just works and it works well. There's not a lot of customization that you could get with Android phones, but it's nice to know that what it does, it does well. Also having other products, it's a nice way to integrate with other Apple products. You won't regret getting this phone!

This is my favorite iPhone by far. I bought the 5S last year after much agonizing whether I wanted it or the Note 3 instead. I ended up going for Apple for the superior Japanese language studying apps (a big hobby of mine). I was very excited for the iPhone 6 this year and sold my 5S and got the Plus.. but returned the Plus because it's way to big to one hand. I got then got the 6 (regular) and returned that after a week too. It's not way too big to one hand but it's still a bit awkward. I then got another 5S to replace the one I used to have. I could be happier - I'd like a sightly bigger phone but still big enough to use one handed without having to press a button to shrink the screen so I can reach it. However, this phone is pretty close to a perfect size for me and I can't complain. I -love- being able to use my smart phone one handed to do any task I want. And this phone has a great processor and camera too.

I have the iPhone 6 as a company phone. I bought a pre-owned 5S as a personal phone to work with my Macs, Apple TVs and Apple routers. Other than the smaller screen, the iPhone 5S is a very good phone. It is fast, responsive and the touch ID is very convenient. After I upgraded to IOS 8, I can make and receive phone calls from my 27" Apple Cinema Display as long as the iPhone and the Mac are connected to the same wifi network. A very convenient feature and I use it all the time.
If you are on a budget but want an iPhone, I would suggest to buy a pre-owned iPhone 5S from Amazon marketplace or eBay. They often have pre-owned phones in "Like New" condition and at half the price of a new one. Just be cautious that the phone doesn't have bad IEMI or it is iCloud locked. I took a chance on this it and it work out perfectly. By the way, 64 GB version is no longer in production so if you could grab one at around 50% off, it would be a good buy.

iPhone is a great product. The camera works well replacing the need for digtal camera in many cases. I really like the slo mo capture video feature. Next, siri is awesome. I found siri could answer consumer related question very well. It did not do as well with social questions or trivia questions, Next, contacts is easy to manage. I like calender and reminder and instan messenger, You need find me to locate it when you misplace the phone, If the phone is stolen you can wipe the data from the device and restore it on the new device from the icloud.
16 gig of storage is not enough for todays media needs, I think iphone will need a terrabyte of storage with better interation with icloud for manage large media sets, iMovie is getting better with more special affects and templates. It is getting easier to produce video

Had iPhone 4 until now, and aside from lagging on the account of up to date software which was tough for it to run, it worked perfectly.
This iPhone 5S works really fast and has all kinds of neat improvements like Siri, fingerprint reader and a neat iOS 8 support, but all of them don't run 100% smooth. Siri fails to understand simple tasks sometimes, although when she does - it's a wonder. The fingerprint reader doesn't recognize my thumb 30% of the time. When the alarm clock goes off in the morning, it can't be shut until I unplug the charging cable, the lock screen just can't be slid open. I expect more from Apple. Having that said, this is a neat phone.

I was suspicous at first but decided to take my chance. The phone arrived in brand new condition and with all the accessories. Everything was sealed with plastic protector. Considering the price, this is a amazing deal. You can probably get one from eBay for about $400 but that usually does not include accessories and the phone itself is in "New (other)" condition, whatever that means.
Activation took about 3 minutes in the t-mobile store.
The phone does not come with a t-mobile logo though. I am not sure if it actually was made for some other carriers, or even overseas. But so far so good, I will update this in a month if anybody is interested.
OK, it's been almost a month. Everything still good. My daughter loves the games on it. And my wife is satisfied with the battery life. Just for curiosity, I checked the ESN at Apple website and gladly found it is under warranty until next July. I guess I just got good luck.
Activation took about 3 minutes in the t-mobile store.
The phone does not come with a t-mobile logo though. I am not sure if it actually was made for some other carriers, or even overseas. But so far so good, I will update this in a month if anybody is interested.
OK, it's been almost a month. Everything still good. My daughter loves the games on it. And my wife is satisfied with the battery life. Just for curiosity, I checked the ESN at Apple website and gladly found it is under warranty until next July. I guess I just got good luck.

I bought this phone from Amazon via True Digital,It does not work and I have been on the chat line several times to find a solution as it is still under "Guarantee", you will see from the chat line that I have tried several ways of claiming (it is over 90 days), been told to take it to Apple to fix. As I am in South Africa, they will not touch it as it is an "international" phone, so I am going in circles and getting no where but extremely frustrated. So my only solution now is to put it down to a very bad experience and suffer the loss BUT highly recommend that no one purchase anything via True Digital.

I just received my brand new Apple iPhone 5s and overall my experience has been rather pleasing. Apple only releases one iPhone each year so I had to act quickly to get my hands on one, especially the gold color since supplies went to China first. Nerveless, I was able to get my hands on the 32-gigabyte gold iPhone model for $299 on contract with AT&T.
I had upgraded from the iPhone 5 so I was familiar with the design and features but customers who are upgrading from older generation devices will be rather surprised with its results. The gold color is a nice touch since its new, but once a case covers it the color is unnoticeable. If you decide to use the device naked, the gold color differentiates the 5s from the 5 greatly.
Apple's Touch ID, the fingerprint sensor, is a cool feature but to me it does not appeal. As of now its use is limited to unlocking the device, signing into your apple account to make purchases, and store five prints, but the potential is great. Developers could soon utilize this feature and incorporate it into their apps or games to make them more exciting.
The 120 fps feature on the 5s's camera is a great way to show off action shots in slow motion to friends and family. The camera quality is OK but needs to be upgraded from the iPhone 5. The upgraded duel flash is a great improvement from previous generation iPhones, particularly in dark conditions. In addition, Apple's new A7 chip allows for faster responses on iOS 7. Apps that require more power such as iMovie can run faster on the 5s compared to the 5, which takes longer to export data.
Apple says the iPhone 5s is five times as fast as the iPhone 5, but my speed and responsiveness tests confirm it is actually twice as fast. The 64-bit architecture allows faster apps to run on the 5s, but compatible apps on the App Store are limited since its "new" technology.
In all, if you are available for an upgrade, the iPhone 5s is worth it from an older generation device such as an iPhone 4 or 4s. If the 5s's new features appeal to you, upgrading to the 5s is not a bad choice either, especially with the new technology. Additional warranties are offered from Apple to protect the device, but a simple case can prevent uncertain accidents from happening for years to come.

I purchased this product because it was listed as "New". It has worked well, but the battery doesn't seem to hold a charge as well as I thought a new product's battery should. The initial battery charge I made seemed to take almost a full 24 hours, much longer than I thought it would take. I took the phone to the Apple Genius Bar tonight to run a diagnostic on the battery and the result was disappointing. The diagnostic indicated the battery was working properly, it also indicated that it had been connected to a charging device more than 500 times, which the genius bar tech said was not a "new" phone.

Very happy with this 5S 64GB iPhone. We had expected the prices on the 5S 64GB to drop significantly after the iPhone 6 came out. But the issues with the iPhone 6 immediately after launch caused the 5S 64GB to stay in demand. We were happy to find it here, and at a good price. We activated it on Verizon, and Verizon provided the SIM Card at no charge. They said that they always provide free SIM Cards at their Verizon Corporate stores. Reviews that mention the fact that you need to get a SIM Card to go with this phone may be unaware that Verizon customers can take it to a Verizon Corporate store to have it activated and get the SIM Card at no charge.

In light of other comments in the reviews here I would like to clarify that I purchased my phone at the Apple Store, my review is about me experience with the make and model of phone listed here. If you want to read the review of someone buying from Amazon look for Amazon verified purchase in the first couple of lines.
Now onto my experiences with this phone...
I have upgraded from an iphone 4 and so this is my first experience with apples new longer phone.
First things first, this is apple and so the phone is beautifully presented and packaged.
It takes a nano sim card and so I had to ask my provider for a new sim card, which was no problem, and was provided free of charge.
The phone, as with most apple products arrived fully charged and was a breeze to set up, all my data, contacts etc were pulled in from icloud and in a short period of time I was good to go.
So, why was this worth the upgrade?
1. The larger screen is clearer to read (I have just started to wear glasses to read)
2. The finger print recognition is perfect, holding the phone in my left hand, I can use it one handed, ie, turn on, press thumb on home screen button and I am in. Before I needed my right hand to enter the 4 digit unlock code, which meanth putting things down etc etc
3. The phone is a lot faster the increased processor power is very noticeable
4. The new camera is awesome, it is a big improvement on the 4. The panoramic feature is excellent as the image quality with the new larger pixel sensor is a great improvement
5. The flash with the two lights, to make images warmer works.
6. The battery life is improved, but that may just be because it is a new phone
7. I like using my thumb to verify itunes ipurchases
So what are the gripes
1. I liked the glass back of the old phone 30 months and not a mark, the new back looks like it will not wear nearly as well
2. The new longer phone does not fit my case, and so I had to buy a new one of those as well.
3. The screen still shows up finger prints
At the end of the day, it is not a giant leap forward, but it is a big step forward and one that I am delighted with.
I love this more sophisticated phone.

This phone is fantastic. I bought used via Amazon Warehouse "like new" condition - wow the condition was perfect - no scratches, no dust and it works beautifully. Battery life - OMG what can I say - it is so great not to have to charge the phone a couple of times a day.
I didn't think I would like the iphone being and android user all these years. I glad I made the switch. The screen size is smaller than my old phone, but not by much. I had looked at the iphone6 - found that too big, the size of the 5s is just perfect
