The Xerox Documate 150 Scanner works great, with all I use it for which is daily all day long, had very little issues with it, overall a 9 rating out of 10. The only problem with the set up was the disc that came with the product. It would not completely install everything, I purchase 3 Xerox Documate 150 and as of now 2 are being used and the 2 had the same set up problem, so I would ask that you check the disc that you are enclosing with the product. On both, we had to have our computer technician get the download from online. I was installing fine til it froze and would not go forward. I shut down and rebooted and it started again, but never finished. That is my only issue, otherwise anyone should be able to set it up. Everything else seemed pretty easy. It works like a charm. I had a flat screen, will not give the brand, but like this one much better.Thanks

Excellent scanner, much cheaper than others, have 7 at the office. Easy to install and use. Scanning is fast and gives good quality images.

This product sems to work pretty well.It is very small, came with a leather sleeve for travel, and software included. It has one big button on the scanner, but I do not know if it does anything, becasue it comes to life and scans anything you stick in there automatically (no need to turn on).The software was a little crazy to install (had to install twice) but seems to work well. Comes with some warnings about not plugging the device in until the software is installed, but then it was unclear exactly when to connect the scanner.This is USB powered so there is no AC plug.Scans in black and white or color, just have to change the settings to color.It is a little tricky to get a straight and complete scan. Helps to have a flat surface and smooth paper. It starts scanning when the sensor is triggered so if the paper is not all the way in to the feeder then you will miss some of the paper and have to try again.My biggest grievance with this product is the software. You only get a trial version of their software! If it was a full version I would have given this product 5 stars. The trial version only allows one page at a time. The full version allows you to merge those pages into a single .pdf. Sending someone a 12 page contract on 12 different pdf files is a joke and far from professional.If you merge these and send them with the trial version, the pdf will have "TRIAL VERSION" all over the front of it - embarrassing as well.The full version of the software cost $100 as much as the scanner.Work around - Set the software to scan into Adobe pdf format, get free pdf995 and then you can merge pdf documents for free.Thinking of sending this back only becasue of the lack of ability to merge pages scanned into one pdf. This should not be a $100 add on, everyone is going to need to do this.The work around is OK, but why should anyone have to take extra steps for this most basic function? Come on Xerox!!

Had setting up issues as software was set to Windows XP but had Windows 7. Customer service helped a lot. Now it is working great and I am happy.

I wish I'd known that it was one-sided scanning (simplex) as opposed to two (duplex). I would have paid just $20 more and gotten the duplex scanner, the Documate 152.Also, the software is very Windows 3.11, and of course Xerox doesn't make their drivers compatible with the Mac, so I had to install Parallels with Windows XP to get this working.

I bought it for use in our temple. We scan a lot of documents occasionally - as many as 100 in a couple of hours. I rarely have paper jams and that's also because of thin or folded papers - not scanner's fault in my opinion. I love this scanner so far.

Seems to do what I need to do in a small office. I don't use fancy or advanced features, but I needed something that supports TWAIN. No complaints after over a year of using it.

Apparently my boss doesn't read reviews. I requested a new scanner after my ancient Visioneer 9450 started eating paper for breakfast. I wanted a new brand and found one at a different website for a decent price. Instead, this one was ordered. I figured since it wasn't the same brand it would be better. Until I found it is a Visioneer. I thought perhaps since it was newer it'd be better. I was wrong. I use it for the ADF to scan hundreds of old files into digital files so we can get rid of the paper and reduce storage costs.The PaperPort software has OK settings, it allows you convert into a PDF, single page items, or multipage. The scanning quality is fine. The problems start when scanning. It seems to have trouble scanning one or two pages and randomly jams while it tries to feed the paper crooked. If you're scanning a large mutli-page file and it jams, you have to start the whole document scan over again. PaperPort FREEZES all the time. At first I thought it was neat that you could drag and drop pages onto one another to combine files, but it quickly lost its appeal when it started freezing and I'd have to force close it.The speed of which it scans is pretty poor, and it's FAR from quiet. The pin connector that plugs in the ADF is incredibly large so it doesn't fit in my oversized desk drawer like my previous scanner.I rarely hate devices as much as I hate this one. When scanning hundreds of sheets of paper it just makes the process twice as long and twice as annoying. I'm just hoping it breaks soon so I can get the one I actually wanted.

This is by far the best scanner I have ever used in my office. It scans very fast and the quality of image is great. I strongly recommend this for anyone who wants to go paperless in the office and has lots of documents to scan and get rid of.

I forked over 'real' money for this scanner because I didn't want something that was mickey mouse. I also thought that it would be better to get a product that just claims to do one thing - scan - instead of a multifunction print/copy/fax/scan. I was willing to pay an extra $150 to get duplexing so that I wouldn't have to cobble together documents that were printed on both sides. Makes sense so far, and it is probably why you are looking into this scanner.I strongly recommend against it. Even though I am good with technology, I can't beat this thing into shape. It jams, it fails to initialize, the software is awful and there is too much of it (multiple apps.) Even the OCR is worse than some of the free versions out there.I want it to work, I'm still in love with the concept, but this is not even a $100 machine. Please don't waste your money on it.

We absolutely "used up" a Documate 510-- wore out the sheet feeder. The Document 525 is half again faster than the 510 and the cost was about half of the price we paid several years ago for the 510. Great value! Also, it was shipped a lot sooner than promised.

The price for this is a steal. Very fast scanner and the program paperport is awesome. If your looking to digitize reports than this scanner is for you. Document feeder works great. Highly recommended.

I bought this to replace our fax machine and get ALL the paper off my desk. I love it! It cannot scan a thick stack of pages, but can take 20 pages without grabbing two at a time. The Paperport software that comes with it is easy to use and has made life much easier. I was a very cheap scanner compared to the others I looked at - but I haven't had any issues as all.

I use a flat bed scanner at the office but, since I have started traveling much more, I wanted a portable solution to scanning receipts while on the road. This one got some good reviews and I liked the form factor. It will scan full 8.5x11 documents (common at hotels) as well as the small register tapes (restaurants, etc...). It's fairly quick, the images are perfect for submitting to my client, and it fits in my computer bag right next to my 17" laptop. The fact that it's powered directly through the USB cable is perfect - no extra AC adapter to carry.The applications that come with it are great, too. I love the drag-and-drop approach to building my single PDF of all my receipts. My customers do too. Very easy to work with - everybody can read PDFs.Only reason it doesn't rate a 5-star rating is because it has developed a habit of generating a faint line on scans wider than 2 inches. If I clean it before every use (about a 3-5 minute process since it requires multiple cleaning passes and test scans), it's under control and works like new. However, the line seems to continually recur and annoying. Not bad enough to ruin the scan but, still, it shouldn't be doing it at all. I may contact Xerox to see what they think but too busy just now to do so.Not a complete replacement for your flatbed scanner if you need high quality photo scanning but excellent for everything else.Highly recommended.

The software adds additional programs to every directory as it saves. You cannot stop it from happening - .ini and .ptn and .ptn2 files. I understand in the next version of the software you can turn it off but they won't approve it for the Documate (according to tech support at Nuance).

The scanner is reasonably quick, once it warms up. After going to sleep mode, you need to wait for the scan lamp to warm up, maybe 10 to 15 seconds.The paper handling has been perfect. I have had no misfeeds so far.We also use the scansnap scanners. The xerox sheet feeder is superior, and handles paper much better. The scanning speed is a little slower than the fujitsu.The quality of the scans are very good.

Awhile back, I had a chance to use a DocuMate 162 that someone else had purchased. I was blown away by its speed, quality and small footprint. I could not get over how something that compact could plow through so much paper so fast. On top of that, it handled duplexing very well. The software seemed Ok, and I was familiar with Nuance products. That was the 162.I bought the 152 because I really could not justify the additional $. The footprint for both machines is almost identical. What I found with the 152 was pretty much the same thing, except it was not quite as fast as the 162. However, it still was great. In a day, I got rid of most of my paper that had been piling up in the last few years. It actually took me a lot less time than that to actually scan. The time came in managing the hundreds of files it created in a short time. The management software was fine, but you simply have to create an electronic filing system to handle all the files it can throw at you - and it does. Takes them in, scans them, and then spits them out. FAST!It does at times jam. But it seems much more forgiving and better engineered than my older scanners. Scanning technology is getting better, and this machine has certainly kept up!I run it on a Vista machine. I did not quite understand some of the connection issues, so at one point I lost my connection and it would not come back. I believe this was a Vista issue, not the fault of the scanner. That has not happened again, so I can't say I have not had any problems. For this reason, I give it 4 stars rather than 5.If you have a business, you might want the 162. The 152 is great for a small home office. Comes with a lots of software. The Nuance software has some small issues - but they are Vista issues for me. The OCR was Ok, but I am very satisfied with the machine.

We bought 3 of these for our office and use them a lot. They are very robust. Recently one user had problems with the scanner driver crashing on their PC. Xerox/Visioneer support was very good. Toll free call, CSRs where located in the US (not out sourced to India or some other job stealing country), and the CSRs listen and don't make you repeat steps you have already taken.Only cons is that you can't re-install the drivers from the support website. The CD has a key driver component that is not included with the drivers on the website, so don't lose that CD.

The scanner is perfectly capable and in fact does a very good job on 20 or fewer pages per set. However, there is a wear item that they don't warn you about. It's called a ADF Pad assembly. They provide an extra one "Free" with every scanner. The wear part is a little silicone rubber pad smaller than a postage stamp. To get a replacement from Xerox will cost you $99.99 for a "cleaning kit, that has two pads and some alcohol pads and swabs. BUT, if you call to bring this to their attention, they WILL make a special deal for you at $29.95 per assembly IF you have a bulk order of 24 or so.I am going to find some 1/16" silicon rubber sheeting and cut my own. Should come out to about $0.10 per fix.

What can I say, I have two of the previous version of this scanner and got one of these because the price was the same as the older unit. This one's quality is just as great, it's faster, and has function buttons on the face. Great job, HP!

For the price, I think this has been worth it. I've scanned thousands of documents (black and white docs., color magazine articles) , but as other reviewers have pointed out, loading fifty pages at a time isn't possible. Also, while it does work now, it loads fewer pages at a time than when I first got it (and I don't see any paper fiber build-up). After extended use, it just doen't work as well, but I have gotten so much quality use out of it... and for the price... I recommend it.
