I bought this because out of all the portable scanners, this had the best reviews. It runs off of USB not requiring an extra power adapter, which is a plus in my book. The instructions talk about using a cleaning sheet, which I have yet to find. So far, cleaning has not been and issue. I always put it back in the leather pouch that came with it after each use, so dirt and grime probably aren't going to be much of an issue for me.The reason it got 4 stars instead of five is the software, as most other reviewers have complained about. I am pretty computer savvy, and I had a heck of a time figuring out the issues with it. The scans were coming out dark and fuzzy in all formats. I went through the adjustment scanning process a couple of times and finally got the scans to come out clear. Because it has an auto scan feature, it made the process difficult.I am using Windows 7 64 bit, and it comes with Windows fax and scan software. I find that this makes the scan process much simpler. Clicking scan instead of the auto scan in the provided software eliminates issues of crooked scans or off page. Now it is a breeze. Click scan, pops up in adobe, name it, save it. Done.For the price, portability, and size, this is a great little product. If Xerox provided a more viable scan and edit software with the product, it would be a 5 star.

This is a great tool at a wonderful price. The only thing missing is a flat top for books, etc. Otherwise it does exactly what we need and does it quickly and efficiently. We use it in our small business and it saves a lot of time and errors.

This is the best value I've received in a long time. It is an excellent duplex printer. It is fast and works well with any program I have right now. I've been using it since May of 12 and have absolutely no problems with it.

I bought this because it was small so I could use it when I travel for business. It scans receipts very quickly with great quality and crops them automatically. The scan application opens and takes the scan automatically when you insert a paper. I can scan many receipts very quickly. I use it at home instead of my normal scanner now because it is so much faster and it makes doing my expenses much less of a headache. Well worth the money.

So far it is working well. I had a little trouble with the paper feed. The paper would go through fine but then the paper jam error would flash and I would have to restart it. I got on line and found that all I needed to do was remove and reinsert the paper feed and it works without a hitch now. Easy solution! Good product.

this produce meet an exceed my expectation. it is a problem solver and it works perfect . my home office finally is what it supposed to have been in the first case. i am now able to scan all documents and retrieve them whenever i need to. it also save me quite a bit on ink and paper by being able to scan and save rather than copying to save.this truly is the best investment i have made in my office fallowing my computer and my printer.

The 7600i Flatbed Scanner may be a perfectly good scanner. However, it shows up when the searching for the "Xerox Mobile Scanner" or the model XMOBILE. The one other review posted for this listing is for the eye-fi equiped Xerox Mobile Scanner. Please note that the photo, at least when this review was posted, is actually for the Xerox Mobile Scanner, not the flatbed scanner you will receive if you purchase this. You can always return it for a refund, but the cost of shipping it back will be born by you.

I got my first Xerox Documate 152 at work a year and a half ago. We were converting to a paperless office. I scanned an entire office of 15 years of documents, tens of thousands of pages before it started to misfeed. I got another one under warranty and put several thousand pages through it. The "one button" scan is great, and it does double sided images. Its a bit lightly built, so one has to be a little careful with it. And, the bottom paper receipt tray always breaks off for most users, but no big deal. I just put a piece of cardboard under it and works fine. I am getting read to buy a third one for home scanning.One program that is a MUST buy with this is Adobe Acrobat Professional. This allows you to paste together smaller documents, and thus reproduce large 3 ring binders. Having a home scanner will allow scanning of old magazines and other papers much more rapidly than a flat bed scanner.And, since this is a scanner only, there are no "cartridge errors" to disable your printer, as has occurred on 2 HP printer/scanners and one Canon printer scanner.

I downloaded the app for my iphone but upon scanning a document as a PDF it would just show a grey thumbnail with the word PDF on it. The app would not display and WILL not display PDF's. It works for jpegs. The files would transfer from the scanner to my mac wirelessly. Then this morning I was reading the tech section of the NYTimes and David Pogue reviewed the scanner and it turns out that Xerox has an app called DocToMe. I downloaded it and it works great. NOWHERE was this mentioned on the Xerox site or in the manual that came with the scanner.

I looked at lots of scanners before picking the Xerox Documate. I was a bit concerned because it cost quite a bit less than the others; however, I have been pleasantly surprised. The included PaperPort software works great. I was much more impressed with it than I usually am with bundled software. It lets you scan, label, categorize, edit PDFs, and organize everything. The scanner itself works flawlessly after some initial configuration (for scanning business documents, I set it for one sided PDFs, 200 or 300 dpi, black and white; otherwise you get huge files that are hard to email and store). I scan quite a bit. So far, no problems with the sheet feeder or the quality and reliablity of the product. This one is a winner.

Auto-feed jams with even ONE sheet of paper in the feeder. Just forget about scanning multiple pages- it will suck in 2 or 3 pages at once. You literally cannot use this machine for it's intended purpose- it's THAT bad. Basically every single sheet of paper placed in this results in a jam, every single time. All it does is JAM, JAM, JAM. I think the machine is simply designed defectively. I tried for 1.5 hours to get it to work and gave up. Shame on Xerox for soiling their name with this overpriced rubbish. Software takes FOREVER to install and is every bit as terrible as the machine itself. DO NOT BUY- REPEAT-DO NOT BUY. I wish I could give this thing 0 stars.

I purchased a Xerox Documate 515 on Feb. 26, 2010 as my old Visoneer 9450 is not compatible with Windows 7 - nor will it be. The Documate 515 was recommended as a compatible replacement. Read all the literature and ordered it. Arrived in quick order. Due to a heavy traveling schedule however, it was not installed until March 26th. I Flatbed scanned a test a page and it scanned just fine. I did not however use the ADF to scan multiple pages. I registered the product this very day - March 26th, 2010. Back to a heavy traveling schedule and the Scanner was not used again to scan even one document after its initial set-up on March 26th, until early April. I noticed that it would frequently "freeze" half way through a page. Had to turn it off and try again. Sometimes it would scan sometimes it would freeze - more often it "Froze".Multiple page scans would freeze after the very first page. Most frustrating. Called Visioneer who recommended the scanner as a likely Visoneer 9450 replacement. They referreed me to PaperPort - manuafacture of the software used to scan my documents. They referred me to Xerox. Called Xerox on April 8th, 2010. They suggested I try connecting it to a Laptop and see if that corrected the problem. IT consultant was next scheduled for and came April 14th and we did just that, connected the USB cable to a laptop - still freezes with great regularity. Have to pull the page out of the scanner after turning it off and then on again.Called Xerox tech support on April 14th - how long is the USB cable they asked? 10 feet I said. That is probably the problem they informed - try a 4 foot cable. At four feet the scanner has to damn near sit on top of the computer and if not on top, I have virtually no place to put the scanner anywhere near the computer. This corrected the problem completely - single sheet, multile page scans - no freezing. I informed Xerox Tech Support that my Visoneer was working just fine with a 12 foot USB cable with virtually no problems. USB 2.0 Specifications is 5 METERS I informed and that four feet is just barely over 1 METER. The requirement to use a 4 four cable was NO where in their literature and had I known this I never would have purchased this product. I was then informed that ALL Xerox Scanners require a four foot USB Cable - "might" work with a 6 foot but that's a "might" they informed.Unacceptable - It is now April 14th and I am "Out of Warranty" for something I was never informed of - a four foot cable requirment. Nothing they could, or "would" do for me. Purchase a Xerox Sanner if you will - personally, I will never purchase another Xerox product of any kind for fear of what they don't tell me in their literature and also for their total lack of customer care.

I love using this scanner for our office!Easy to install, easy to use, works right out of the box. I've usd it with PaperPort 12 Pro for years without fail OR jams.Highly recommend the combination of this scanner and PaperPort. WE've scanned over 100,000 scans without fail.

This scanner is a pretty good bang for your buck. On average it scans 12ppm, which is close to the 15ppm it advertises. Like other reviewers have said, it is a better idea to download the driver off the Xerox website than install the outdated driver from the CD. The Paperport and OmniPage software can be a bit confusing at first, but is easily learned. The Omnipage program provides good OCR ability, with about 90% accuracy with common fonts based on my tests, but doesn't always get styles, specifically boldface, correct. Using the flatbed scanner, all pictures and documents seem to be slightly tilted, despite checking and ensuring it lines up with the edge of the glass. That problem can be fixed by a simple rotation of the image, so it's not too bad. Also, the scanner does take up a lot of space, so make sure you have a place for it to sit. Overall, it's a good buy if you don't run into driver issues with it.

I had to buy another separate program called VueScan to get this scanner to work with Mac OS X.And VueScan is a nasty little piece of software in itself but it will have to do since there is nothing else.The built in Mac OS X Image Capture program does not detect this scanner.Just an FYI. I would not buy this canner if you need to use it with Mac OS X. Look elsewhere.

Out of box failure so I sent it back. The item was shipped in its original container, no outside shipper box and the box was received crushed. It would not scanned so I returned and bought a neat receipt which works great.

Ever since I installed this scanner, my computer's been having problems. It's also not very user-friendly. Even though I have the box checked that says to combine all the pages into a single image, I get separate files for each page. It's very frustrating. I spent all day today uninstalling and reinstalling the driver and software. I give up. I wish I had gotten a different scanner.

Our company had experience with the Xerox Documate 510 in the past. When I found out it was superseded by the model 515, I was skeptical that the new unit would be as robust as its predecessor. I have been pleasantly surprised!Not only has the hardware operated flawlessly, but the software bundle allows more versatility, while maintaining a similar interface to the older version. Of particular note is the improvement in being able to scan documents with colored backgrounds. This made it almost seamless for us to inject the 515 into our system and have the existing users pick it up and run with it.I would highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for a compact, durable, high speed scanning unit.

What can I say, Fast processing of purchase, quick delivery and it arrived safe and in tact. Very simple set ip and software installation. Works better than I had hoped for. Very satisfied and would HIGHLY reccomend to anyone wanting a flatbed scanner. THe page feeder is very nice and works flawlessly.

We bought this to work with Quickbooks so the we could go paperless in the office. My office manager uses the scanner all day without any problems. She is very happy with it.
