The product has arrived as promised. This Hard Disk Drive is fast and silent. It's worth its price for its large storage capacity, even though it's not a Tera Byte Size Hard Disk Drive, for a home user such as I, it's more than enough for OS and Storage needs until I could afford to upgrade to a Solid State Drive.

I AM USING THIS DRIVE AS A SECOND HARD DRIVE IN MY SYSTEM TILL I CAN BE CERTAIN IT WILL NOT CRASH. AMAZON HAS ISSUED SOME CAN OF WARNING ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS DRIVE. I HAVE HAD IT IN MY SYSTEM ABOUT THREE WEEKS SO FAR SO GOOD. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON USING THIS DRIVE AS YOUR MAIN DRIVE I AM NOT SURE I WOULD DO THAT. HOPE THIS HELPS.

I've already had a Western Digital (500 GB) HDD installed in my PC (well it wasn't the same model but the same brand and capacity)All I can say is the item is very good from a very good company.Now between the 2 Hard drives in my desktop I have 1TB of space.Western Digital is a very good brand and if you were to say go to Staples to buy this Hard drive I doubt you would pay less than $70 for it.The hard drive is fast (for the price) and reliable.Also even if you've never installed a hard drive in your PC before it isn't rocket science and it is well worth it.So i would recommend this to anyone who's running out of space and who's other hard drive is about to croak.Overall I am very satisfied with this product and the price (i paid only $37 i believe) , the price is outstanding!5 years ago this would've cost you $400 or more.Anyway like I said ,if you have ANY doubts about getting this item - DON'T!You will not be disappointed ! ! !

The drive work right out of the box. I was glad after I seen it how it was packed butSo far no problems encountered with the hard drive installed. Using the drive on older PC system when the original one died one me.I was impressed with the price from Amazon. They are the cheapest around for hard drives.

I'm overall happy with this drive. Western Digital drives typically last a long time for me as long as they have decent cooling. I've only used this particular one for a week. As expected, no problems. Am reviewing it now because it'll probably be quiet a few years before it fails. I've a touch of buyers remorse in that the 1TB drives are starting to really drop in price now. I think they're the best bang for buck at the moment. Such is life. At least it's quiet. I'm typing this review on the very quiet office desktop this drive went into. I can hear crickets outside and a computer in a different room, but can't hear this little PC two feet away. This drive does what it's supposed to, and is MUCH faster than a 5,000 RPM drive. I use it in my MacBook Pro 15" (2007/2008 Pre-Unibody).My only complaint is that it is louder than some drives, making the classic whirring and clicking sounds when performing hard work, and also seems to heat up a bit more easily.I've had it for a few months, and it hasn't acted up yet.UPDATE: After a year, it's still going strong. No complaints!

This drive works fine and seems to be lasting a long time. I like WD drives for raid and the blue line is rated for desktop raid systems. When my client's raid drive lost a member we used this drive to replace it. It went it and worked fine. So far - perfect!

Bought this for a computer I am rebuilding for my neighbor, comes with just the bare minimums: A Hard Drive. Works as expected with just plugging it into the computer, installed Windows XP Media Center 2005.The hard drive comes with a 3 Year Warranty, I've only had to go though Western Digital's warranty once (Not with this drive), and they were very good about it, very fast turn around time in the event of a drive failure. I've used them from servers, to a regular PC - Never had a single issue with their products.It features very quiet operation on this model, and fast SATA operation. Perfect for a reliable value hard drive, still capable of fast speeds too.The Amazon packaging was perfect, Just break the tape off the box, then peel the anti-static bag top off, remove drive, then install. No need for some box cutter or any other annoying plastics.

This drive was way cheaper than what was available on newegg, shipping was super fast especially with prime 2 day. I've been running it for about a month now and have had no problems. Works great!

Ranked as the mid performance hard drive in the Caviar family (Green, Blue, Black,), this hard drive does a good job providing good value performance and hard disk storage.Simple to install, remains relatively cool, is very dependable, and has fared well when storing music, movies, documents, and gaming files. Thus far, I'm very pleased with the performance. I've been using this for about 7 months now without any hiccups.A solid companion/additional hard disk drive. Personally, I don't mind installing windows on this hard drive. Not the fastest, but definitely dependable and has decent speed and cache.

Great HDD, quiet, large capacity, and it keeps my data safe. Any bumps/dust has no affect on it, and if it failed I'd still be able to get data off of it.10/10 would buy again.

I am very comfortable with the Western Digital brand (my PC has two SATA Western Digital hard drives and I have purchased others as well) so when I decided to increase the size of the #2 drive I naturally leaned toward WD. In addition, I had a problem some years ago with a WD external hard drive that was quickly taken care of under warranty by WD's customer service. So I have had only good experiences with WD equipment. At the time of purchase I believe the price/value for a 1 TB (and larger) was better than the 500GB but I was attempting to keep within a budget so I stuck with the 500GB. This hard drive is currently priced at $39.99, a 1 TB is $60.80, and a 1.5TB is $59.99. So the price/value for drives at 1TB and above seems to be better than smaller drives. The 500GB hard drive works as I expected (no complaints).

My 5 yr old 500Gb drive in my dell started to make ugly noises so it was time to backup my data and get a new drive. I ordered this drive on a Friday, it didn't ship until Sunday (I selected free shipping) but it arrived on the next day - you cannot complain about free and super quick shipping like that.Installation was painless, restoring my old PC image was not. Finally hit on the right plan that involved copying my backup image to the 2nd partition of the new drive (I split the drive into 2 partitions) and restored from that.Drive is much quieter than my old one. I have 1 drive slot free and I am planning on getting another copy of this drive to hold backups of the main drive (USB external drives are too slow). I am even considering getting a third internal drive so that I can have a very clean Win installation test rig.

Had a problem with my #2 HD in that the computer wouldn't recognize it. When booting up the computer, it wanted to stop and ask for a bootable CD. Even though it was the boot drive. Replaced it with the Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB drive and everything is working as it should. Good buy, good price.

Great Product, though it fails to provide a SATA data cable for hook up. Have had no problems and the product was packaged extremely well for transport.

Had my doubts after reading bad reviews but this baby fired right up without a hitch! Installed my OS, went to Best Buy and when I returned, OS installation was finished! Very pleased with this HDD :>

I used it to replace a smaller driver. Did a fresh Vista install. Drive works and I have plenty of room for media files. The drive appears to be fairly quiet. I have had it for about 2 months.

It is against my superstitious mind to write a good review after using a product for one day, so no long story, just an add-on about what I was looking for in other reviews:Holding on to Win XP I was worried about the new format of WD HDs and their compatibility with XP. And with their jungle of HD names and series's I wasn't able to find out. But I had no problems at all so far installing a fresh copy of it onto the new HD including partitioning without any slipstreaming of drivers etc. All you need is SP2 included in your XP install CD, that does the job.Now I don't know if I could tweak a couple of minibittymicroseconds out of it by installing some WD tool or changing blocksizes or whatever - I don't care, it runs fine right now and fast enough for me so never change a running system :o)As for further performance and durability I will update this later...

It was received quickly and installation was a snap. Much faster and larger than my previous hard drive and can take advantage of the 6 Gbs SATA ports on my Sandybridge Motherboard. I have had it for almost a month and have had no performance or technical problems. Overall a very good product, just glad I got it before the flooding of Western Digital Factories.
