For my first external harddrive, this one gets the job done. I haven't had it very long (a month) but it hasn't been finicky and I can easily transfer my information over to it. It is compact and light so it is easy to carry from place to place if I need to. So far, no complaints.

I purchased this for a travel to asia recently. I stored a bunch of digital pictures and media for the trip. It worked as expected and is of great value.

This external hard drive is simply great, light to carry and perfect.It handles roughness good and it's size is just great.I recomend WD "my passport" in any of it's presentations, sizes or colors.Buy a neoprene protector or something cause the black one gets stained with fingers and dust.

I bought this product to back up my laptop and it does the job! It does not require a seperate cable for power - simply the usb cable. I havn't had any errors with it so far. The only flaws that I don't like is that the usb cable is short, and that it has its own program to copy programs (which I find it useless since I just copy and paste the files into the hard drive). Other than that, it's nice, slick, portable, and USER FRIENDLY. Recommended!

Pros: Easy to carry. Fast and efficient. After 1 month - no problems to report. The passport also looks wonderful. Nicely designed caseCons: Easy to scratch the surface. Carrying/protective case is a must. Due to its small size, perhaps easier to damage.Summary: A good buy.

I'm very pleased with this purchase. The drive is quite portable, and extremely easy to use. I've had no problems with it at all, and like the file transfer speeds. For some reason, the Western Digital software that comes installed in this drive won't install on my pc. So I really have no idea whether there are some good features I'm missing out on. For this reason, I gave the product 4 stars out of 5.

THe WD Passport external hard drive is light weight, compact, and easy to carry around. I have other external hard drives but I find myself using this one the most because it is easy.Thus far I've not had a problem with it getting power through the USB cable but my laptop batteries rarely get run down below 50% reserve. Most of the time my laptop is plugged into an AC outlet.This is great to store pictures, movies, or any data you don't wish to put on your hard drive or comes from another machine.

I've had this product a little while and have used it a small amount. So far it's worked fairly well. The only problem I've had with it is that when I tried to remove some files from the Passport, it deleted them from my computer's hard drive too. Luckily I had them backed up on another CD so I didn't lose them for good, or it could've been pretty devistating. So be on guard!Besides that, it's worked out pretty well for me so far.

Looks like it will work OK on my Windows XP machine because I did not load their stupid software and the Google junk programs or Sync software. - Win XP machines ask you in advance if you want to use their program or not - you have option to "Do Nothing" (HIGHLY RECOMMEND you select: "Do Nothing"). - On my Windows 2000 machine the unit immediately took off on "autopilot" - BIG MISTAKE!!! Took me two hours and numerous "lock-ups" to get their Sync program and two other programs and related files off my machine.

I had some issues initially getting this running. It requires either two USB ports or a powered USB hub. But now that I have that sorted out it has been working great. I'm not using the sync software. If you transfer over a folder or file and then delete the file from your other drive it will delete it from the WD next time you sync them. I got this so I can move some files and folders off of my laptop and free up some space. But it is nice and compact, smaller than I was expecting but that is a plus for me.

Well, this is a really good device, it is fast if you want to play from it, but the transfers is really slow, and if you do it with the software it is worst.

I purchased this item from Amazon.Com.The item arrived in time.Although it says 160GB but in reality its 148GB.Besides this problem, the portable drive works fine.

This is another great product from Western Digital. It is very small and looks sharp. I would recommend getting a case for it because it looks like it would scratch easily. The software looks like it is easy to use for syncing data between PC's. I am only using it for storage right now. I like not needing an external power source. Good value hard drive.

There isn't a whole lot else to say. I will mention this, the fact that it does not need an external power supply makes using it with my laptop so much easier. I did experience some problems with it not hooking up properly, but I am suspecting that to be a problem with my USB drive/cable. It is a nice, solid, high quality hard drive, and the price makes it all worth it.

This is a great little backup drive. I use the older MacOS 10.3.9 on a 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4. The drive is (all but) completely compatible! I recommend reformatting the drive for Mac users; the PC filter hic-cups on special characters and other Mac eccentricities! No power cord, no transformer, just a USB 2.0 plug. A great little drive for the money!

I carry this on all my business travel for all the data I might need with clients. Small, handy and at 160 GB, plenty for me on the road. Four stars because of minor speed issues (feels slow sometimes.

product is not bed for the price, but when transfering data, I lost some file content. File itself was copied, but not what was in it. I can not say about product in general, becouse I never had problem with company before, but i am not happy with this item.
