This product does "what it says on the can". The vacuum suction is of a quality equal to my current dyson and the wash facility is outstanding. I have been thinking about getting a carpet washer for some time and only wish that I had bought it long ago.

having looking for a good carpet cleaner i found this vax a good cleaner, it doses wot it says, just wen i ues it the pipes come off,no matter how tight i put the pipes together it still comes off and is enoying, but it dose clean my carpets well n gets all da dust up.

At the time I purchased this product I was on a budget and found this cleaner was cheaper than others on the market. However, the photograph of the hoover doesn't show the soft, fiddly attachments (pipes, clips, nozzles etc) which are not very fun to handle. The water bowl needs refilling quite often and you might have to go over dirty parts of your carpet more than once. That aside it cleans reasonably well.

A decent vacuum at a reasonable price. No problems so far. Upholstery attachment is good for stairs and more stubhorn stains on carpet.

Its almost a month now since we bought this machine after comparing n number of rival products and finally was down to dyson and Vax and then regressively compared the two from various feedbacks and videos on you tube. Following points we concluded (purely my personal observation as i have not used either of them before buying.)
-Suction power of both the machine is almost same.
-There were too many reviews and feedbacks suggesting Vax is Raw powerful machine which may lack some design sophistication like all tools on board, wire getting rolled in after use etc but the core job it does if not superior is no less than any other rival brand. What I meant is the power of the machine.This was very convincing. Many of them have used both and returned back to VAX.
-People even after 20 years have bought the new version of VAX so definitely a history of sturdy service there.
-For the price you pay its THE product.

Problems:
One little problem though worth mentioning is that the extended handles keeps coming out while hovering which to be fair is also mentioned in many reviews but could have been made better. This issue is because of the suction power being so strong that when on a carpet and you pull it towards you it gets separated and you will have to re-join them, bit annoying :(.

Used one for 15 years, did everything with 4 cats worth of hair and kids making the carpets dirty.

Moved house and treated myself to a new one, nothing really wrong with the old one, just fancied a new one.

Carpets washed every 6 months and are dry within the hour, soooo much cheaper than getting a company in to do it and the cleaning solution makes your house smell lovely.

My only worry is that they stop selling them when this one eventually needs replacing?

Summary - brilliant, just get one!

My house has pale carpets and the previous occupiers made them pretty grubby, especially in the dining room. Normally I'd hire a steam cleaner from the dry cleaners, but I can't do all rooms at the same time so I bought the VAX. Reviews were good and to be honest I expected better results than I got. Maybe I'll need several goes at it - certainly the water in the dirty water container was pretty grim.

It's a fairly chunky machine and there are lots of bits. It vacuums OK, but I have a Dyson for that and bought the VAX purely for the shampooing function. Those carpets I've done that looked reasonably clean already now look much better and the rooms are fresher. I'm just not sure how good it is at the really bad stains and spots, some of which look like grease/oil spots. My guess is this is a machine to keep carpets looking good on a regular basis, once you have gone over them with a more 'industrial' cleaner.

I won't give up yet, but the jury's still out.

This cleaner is very easy to use and is quickly assembled. Carpets came up as new,I would recommend it to anyone wanting an efficient job doing.

They are only Vax dust bags but they are a fraction of the cost compared to Comet and last just as long as the ones they sell.

With two dirty dogs and a cream carpet I was beginning to think I would have to have a new carpet but this cleaner has changed all that! Dry vacuuming is excellent, it nearly sucks the carpet off the floor, the tools make for easy access under furniture. The washing facility is in fact embarrassing, the colour of the water and the sludge in the bottom was unbelievable, not only does it clean very well but it brings the pile back up. BUT PLEASE change the courier, HDNL/Yodel are useless!

This is a good machine and easy to use. excellent for cleaning and shampooing carpets and soft furnishings. Used in conjunction with vax ultra shampoo it is really outstanding.

Good value, powerful vacuum. Particularly useful for immediate treatment of potentially staining spills on carpets: plenty of water then suck it up! If done soon enough permanent staining should be avoided, particularly if carpet cleaning facility of Vax is used afterwards.

after moving to a flat with dirty cream carpets I decided to try shampooing instead of buying new. First of all I thought about hiring a shampooer then saw the multivax

Generally pleased but the tubes fall apart when your cleaning. Very annoying indeed! Why oh why don't they clip together? Ridiculous.

Still, overall pleased, though if you're not interested in the washing function (which we hardly ever use)then you might want to consider something that doesn't fall apart every 2 minutes when you vacuum.

I used my new vax to clean up the stairs, the landing and one bedroom. It did a brilliant job and my carpet looks amazing. I cant get the small upholstery cleaning end off ( I used this on the stairs ) , it is stuck fast and all the tubes are stuck fast! So, although the Vax is brilliant and did a really good job on my cream carpets once it is put together - it stays together

well , a great working hoover , does everything it says on the tin , follows you around effortlessly cleans great , great suction , but i could only give it 4 stars unfortunately due to one small imperfection in that the extension tubes keep loosening off in use . if they had a locking mechanism i would have no hesitation in awarding it 5 stars as it would then be the perfect hoover .

Very pleased, wanted a wet and dry vac this one appeared to be exactly what we needed.

On use we found it to do exactly what it said on the box, together with prompt delivery and every thing was there. Simple instructions, we had it working within five minutes of opening.

For the price it's very god product.vacuum is a lot better then i was expecting, although it's a 1300 watt it sucks better then my old vacuum with 1800 watts. Carpet washing function it's about that what i expected from it. Only minus are that's a loudly machine (like my old cheap 1800 watts) and there is no cord storage on it but for less then 100 pounds it's acceptable. I would recommend that product to a friend especially if you heave a lot rooms with carpets.

Although not regularly used as a carpet washer, we have found it very useful and does an excellent job - especially after the dog!! The vacuum itself has a very strong suction.

Great product for both washing and vacuuming. In terms of washing, it's quite easy to use. I have a large living room though (10m x 5m) and have to refill the tank about 3 times to get around the whole thing.
The vacuum is great, sometimes the suction is so strong that it pulls the head off the tube... have to use the little air switch at the top of the handle to make it less strong.
My only gripe is the vacuuming head is prone to getting things stuck in it. I have a long hair dog who often drags in little twigs and leaves and they are constantly blocking the head and it's quite difficult to get in there to remove any blockages. I just have to make sure i pick up anything that could block the head before vacuuming.

I love this vax, my last vax was the 6130 model and was easy to use and excellent on pet hairs. I had to replace it last week after 10 years of great service. So thats why it was such an easy choice to replace it with another, the 6131 model and i am not disappointed, i love it, still excellent on pet hairs, the shampoo does a great job on carpet stains, i find it very easy to use and i look foward to many good years of sevice.

Bought this to clean carpets and it does a great job. It is also better than my dyson animal for picking up dirt. However i prefer the dyson because it is easier to use day to day.

Already have an upright Vax carpet cleaner which is good in the house, but wanted something for wet cleaning in the workshop. This has proved to be great for floor and wall cleaning in preparation for spraying cabinets, and even came in handy, when fitting new radiators, to finish draining the cental heating system. Yes, it is noisy and bulky but it is also robust and versatile. Unlke other similar machines it is sold by a company with a great after sales service reputation, and spares are readily available. It's been on the market for a long time in its current shape, but why change something that works so well?
