very good product. a bit loud but depends on how much noise u can take. the only thing is one of the rollers broke off after first use, roller wash head, also it should have a gauge to know where the clean water level is. but overall very good. it does the job and cleans real good.

Replacement for a previous model which had given long and faithful service, quite hard work when cleaning a large carpet however if you want a jack of all trades it will take a lot of beating.

As well as it carpet cleaning abilities, which it does admirably it will suck up spills which if diluted first with lots of clean water and brushed it the direction of the pile disappear completely and then of course it is much easier to use for the car than the hose and nozzle of the upright cleaner.

I've had one of these vacuums for the last 20 years before we needed to replace it - so it goes without saying that this product is excellent in both lasting and performing to a high standard.

Great carpet cleaner. I've got a dog and it is extremely difficult to get the ones stuck on the carpet. But this carpet cleaner is so powerful that it gets rid of all of them. It is harder to use than just hoovering but it does the job. It leaves the carpet dryer than I expected! I once asked a professional carpet cleaner to do my living room, well let's say that I can do a better job than them with the Vax6131.

Cons: would be good to have a bigger tank for the clean water but then the machine would be too big. Does a lot of noise, no really it is very very noisy, it even spooks my dog, when I use it he keeps growling at the hoover. But hey, it does the job and does it well so it worth the temporary noise.

Pros: gets rid of stubborn stains, loads of attachments I like the small ones for the stubborn stains. Leaves the carpet just as new. Very powerful 1300W. Leaves the carpet almost dry if you hoover the excess water.

Haven't used it on dry hoovering yet cause I already have one, so can't comment on it.

A first class machine.I tipped some fluid on the lounge carpet.The vax sucked it up , so the resultant work was minimal.Pity it is notBAGLESS

well made and perfect vacuum cleaner however it is not very good as a washer and you may find it even uselees if you have old thick (>1.5cm)carpets ..ok on thin ones

I'll just start by saying that my previous 2000(+)Watt machines have not matched the suction of this 1300Watt Vacuum cleaner. It is PHENOMENAL!
It grips the carpet with the wash head or the dry head. Even with the brush head attached it sucks to the furniture mid stroke so you have to angle the head slightly. This is by no means a criticism.
The engineering and build quality are superb. It gives the performance that you might expect from an industrial machine.
If you have pets then look no further. Our cat brings in fleas from 'stray-like', poorly looked after PETS?, in the area. The fleas do not stand a chance against this thing!

The 6131 is a great general vacuum as well as carpet cleaning. I originally bought the Vax 124A, but had problems with it leaking from the nozzle (replacement did as well), so I purchased this instead. The cleaning ability was almost equal, and I have a lot of dirt on my carpet with a toddler. There is a knack to it (don't underestimate how many dry strokes you need to do), so start on the smaller dirtiest areas so you don't have to redo the rest!
It is a 1300 watt vacuum, so is pretty powerful. The reviewers who say it doesn't pick up lint are possibly using the wrong bags? I bought a Henry previous to this, and much prefer the Vax. It's easier to move along and the vacuum head provided is better (particuarly for hair).
My mum had an original 6131 and the style is the same, but they have improved the vacuum and cleaning heads. Not sure if my mums is so old it's not powerful anymore, but this is a definite improvement in that as well.

Great item, best used so far, upholstery attachment is a bit flimsy and had already broken, but other than that great. I use in Spain so you have to buy the bags online as not available here.

quite happy with this product use it daily for hoovering and it hoovers my dog fur up easily and she sheds a lot as is a husky. However have used once for shampooing carpet and came up quite good was pleased. Still slight stains but the stains are old so will redo.

We used to have an older model Vax (looked identical) and had no problems with it - it wasn't anything spectacular but it cleaned the house which is what you want really.

When we moved house several years ago we ordered a new Vax to replace it and since we had no issues with the old Vax we went for another of the same (or rather, updated) model.

This is where it went wrong however.

The machine wasn't anything like as powerful as the older model - the old one would lift the carpet from the floor, the new one needed multiple passes just to lift the visible dirt! This never improved, and every time we used it we had to make several passes over the same areas just to pick up the most basic of bits (it particularly had a problem picking up cotton or fluff - even with the brushes down - but that's another issue!).

The brushes you could extend from the head were, in my opinion too firm, and as a result they glided over the carpet rather than brushed it as intended. If you applied more force to get it to brush then the point where the main pipe joined the head would visibly bend (and I'm not talking about excessive force - just enough to brush the carpet).

Now that leads to the next problem. Repeated pushing on it to use the brushes caused the connection where the pipe joins the head to snap. I had to buy another at about

Read the reviews and this influenced my decision to buy as apposed to renting a carpet cleaner from the one of the high street shops. The vac itself is ok but use as a wet carpet cleaner using the accompanying tools is not very good, only the small utensil for stair cleaning was effective. Expected a lot more from this machine.

The Vax Multivax is a reasonably good dry suction vacuum cleaner, but when you take it apart and put it back together in its carpet washer configuration it truly comes into its own. I have to point out here that, unfortunately, when the product came to me it was missing a vital component that prevented me from using its washing feature. I phoned customer services and they were very helpful and sent me the missing piece in the post. These things happen; it would be unfair of me not to mention it in the review, but also unfair of me to let it influence my review score. Luckily, I have to say that it was worth the wait, as the amount of muck it managed to remove from the carpets was phenomenal. You could actually see the difference on one of the carpets, and it looked like new for the first time in ages. The unit itself has a long cord and rolls about on 5 wheels, meaning that it's never difficult to get it to follow you about the room as you go.

Great poduct does all that i was looking for, carpets and upholstery . We have a very light couloured couch and using the vax was easy. It made an amazing difference first time.

Bought these recently. They fit well, vacuum still works as well using these as the ones that came with it. but the benefit is that these are much cheaper than originals. happy days!

Very very efficient, the vacuum is a lot more powerful than any other I have ever owned, and not noisy. It is easy to switch to the carpet cleaner which also is very good especially with two cats in the house. Very good value for money.
