This is the second of these that I have owned. Both have worked well. The first failed (after many years) by cracking of the tube that carries the soapy stuff to the cleaning head. The second leaks a bit where the delivery tube joins the orange body of the main gizmo. So not ideal, but it works well. Perhaps either or both problems could be fixed, but I was in a hurry, so maybe it is all my fault!

Excellent in all 1 carpet cleaner and washer has very good suction and it well worth thè money saves having 2 appliances

That's what I thought before purchasing. Now I know for sure. This is a tremendous piece of kit! Simple to use and to clean. I have a Dyson hoover and thought I may have a little dirt in the carpet, but I was astounded to see what this machine pulled out of the carpet when in 'wet' mode.
If you are toying with the idea of buying a carpet washer, don't waste time, get one of these!

Had one of these badboys before,new relationship,she got the vax!,but seriously,nice durable well made kit,great at what it does,get a !couple more years out of your carpets!

Have used once so far as a carpet washer, which was the main reason for buying, and it performed extremely well. Took me a while to set it up, but that's just me, not being technical ! The instructions were clear; the only disadvantage is it is quite bulky for storage but because it does such a good job, its not a big problem.

This is just a wonderful bit of kit. I owned one years ago and eventually managed to kill it off after years of abuse. I've now bought another and love it to bits. Its powerful, versatile and I just know that it will run for years. They may not have a modern look and may not show you what you've just sucked up in a see through section. It's not a bagless system with some sexy whirlwind technology but I love it all the more for that. It does what I need it to do - its very powerful, cleans carpets and sucks up spills. Very highly recommended to all those who have never had one!

This is easy to use and carpet looks immaculate. Don't know how easy it is to change from shampoo to hoover as I only need to wash carpets.

Excellent. Good value got money. Cleans very well and wash the carpet like pro's do. Will recommend this fantastic 2 in 1 vacuum cleaner.

Brilliant cleaner, wouldn't be without one! The upholstery cleaner included is a great feature too. Can't get better for the money or anywhere near it.

The canister is very light and easy to move around e.g. Up and down stairs. The amount of suction is surprisingly good and the washer simple to set up. The results speak for themselves, we have a very fury/muddy dog this time of year and after a quick whip round the house this bad boy cleans everything.

I have very short pile carpets and it is okay cleaning them. Have to go over the same area several times. I suspect it is better suited to deeper pile carpets. A brush would have helped (as in the Rug Doctors).

I hate this machine.
The water comes out in the tiniest of trickles & it seems there is no difference when the pump is on or off. Worked for about 5 minutes and now doesn't dispense water at all. Literally used it all day & it was still full of water at the end of it.
Very disappointed as bought this to clean carpets in an office suite which I now cannot open due to this.
Probably a faulty product but surely vax should check before it is sent out?
Left unsure whether it's faulty or the machine is just rubbish.

I would never be without one of these solidly made machines. I couldn't fault my old one now still going after around 20 years and still up in my northern property. This one is very good and certainly has the same stamp of longevity as all the previous models have had. Will purchase again in around 20 years time then..

Paid only 55 pounds for a refurbished unit. This also included the handy upholstery attachment. As a hover it is good, as a cleaner it is good. Easy to use and setup.

I purchased this to replace a Vax that I'd had for 20+ years which I'd been fairly happy with. This is not a full review as I have not used the wet function yet. However the reason for 'disappointing' is that the two metal tubes that make up part of the hose will not stay together, so when vacuuming, the tube nearest the floor together with its attached nozzle comes adrift. This is a frequent occurrence despite pushing the tubes together as hard as I can.
It is quite frustrating and I will probably finish up taping them together. The problem then would be when you
want to use just one length of tubing. Had I had this problem with the original Vax then I would not have purchased
this one. On the plus side, it vacuums quite well and the disposable bags are an improvement on the old canvas re-usable bag on my old Vax. Only 3 stars from me.

I vacuumed my hall carpet first, as instructed and then used the carpet washer. I was horrified at the colour of the dirty water when I emptied the tank. The carpet was professionally cleaned last summer and there are only 2 adults in the house (plus 2 cats). I then cleaned the stairs and had the same shock.
I shall now wash my carpets at least twice a year- it should keep them looking as good as new!
My only reservations are
- you do have to fill the clean water tank (and empty the dirty water tank) very frequently - it took 2 refills to clean a small hall and then another 2 refills to do the stairs.
- I'm not quite sure where I shall store it - even though it has a small footprint, there are lots of bits and pieces with it.
I bought this machine after initially buying an upright Vax carpet washer which took ages and a lot of swearing! to put together and then it wouldn't work. I decided to buy one that was ready built and have been very satisfied with this purchase.

a replacement for my old one which the pump went on, although it still works as a vacuum cleaner.
This one is REALLY noisy...scares me a bit....sounds like its going to take off at any moment...with a sound like that i am worried its not going to last long so now i have two vax s in my already cluttered existence!

I am a big fan of Vax products; my everyday (well nearly every day) vacuum cleaner is a Vax Mach Air 2, which I find to be a superb vacuum cleaner.
The carpet is mid price/quality lounge carpet with a fiber (not rubber) underlay. Size is 14 feet by 12 feet. User = 1 human & 2 dogs – traffic = heavy. Carpet 4 years old never cleaned - Vax vacuumed most days.
I intend to use the Vax 6131T 3-in-1 Multivax Dry Vacuum and Carpet Washer as a washer only
The Vax is heavy. No problems setting up the Vax after reading and following the instructions.
I decided to clean the carpet in 2 parts just for my convenience. The solution tank was filled with 4L of warm water & 160 mls of the cleaning liquid provided. I started the clean using short – slow strokes and found the 4L fill did about 1/3 of the carpet. The drying process using the short – slow strokes recovered 3 and
