Recommended by a computer friend of mine. Setup was super easy. provides 10x the wireless signal I had with my old router, all wireless devices in the home are working amazingly. Highly recommended.

Do not believe that this router will cover all the rooms in your house, because it will not. It covers well the room in which the router is setup. Into the very next room, there is a dramatic decrease in reception. I went from 60+ mbps in the living room where the router stood with its three antennas pointing into the air, to the next room with an open doorway where it only managed 11 mbps. In the very next room there was no reception at all, and none outside the house. My old router managed to reach all rooms of the house with an average 20mbps in all rooms. That was the Medialink with 150mbps speed and only internal antennas.Do not waste your time. I wasted an afternoon on this lousy router. Oh what fun to return stuff.

It has very poor rang and signal. I'm fixing to return it. It is only 10 feet far from devices and slow signal broadcasting.

Short and sweet,very easy to set up, I configured it for fixed channel and wide bandwidth (high data transfer) and than it crashed and it crashed Hard LOL. Streaming HD on 2 flats plus transferring movies from my DTV Nomad to a laptop simultaneously. After multiple resets it never came back to life, unable to interface just lights and sits like a brick.Returned and bought the ASUS RT-N66U, what a workhorse, mimicked the above scenario and worked flawlessly with no bogging.I'm no expert but I know quality, so I guess the old expression is true "you get what you pay".

InstallationA mini CD is included in the packaging. This won't work if you have a slot-loading drive like the current macs, bummer! Since the complete manual is not included, you can find it on the TP-link website if you need. I'm not sure if there is a software for installation for Mac OS. If you have basic knowledge about router the easiest way set it up is to use the web browser-based utility (which is not difficult to use).TestI decided to upgrade from my old WRT54G2 V1, because we kept dropping connections on our macbooks and xboxs and the wireless speed was much slower compared to wired. Tried to set it up but did not work. Keeps missing "Network Staus check" stage, although the internet works perfectly and everything is fine. :/... It happened as well with the last wireless router made by this company as well... I guess I should have learned my lesson then. I'm going to try my luck with a different company next time.

So far I have had this router for about three weeks and have reset or unplugged it about 4+ times a day. I had high hopes for this router because of the reviews. After many attempts to figure what was wrong I finally sent it back for a refund. The setup was easy once I took out my four year old laptop having no luck with a 2011 MacBook air and a 2011 MacBook pro. I do not recommend this router for anything but a headache

My local Micro Center has had some of TP Link's products for awhile now. Documentation is sparse, firmware updates don't exist but the device worked well (and it was $15). However, I could not pass this deal up at $20 for a DD-WRT compatible router. Installed DD-WRT without a problem, wireless propagation is good and I couldn't be happier. If you are on the fence for this device all I can say is do it, but make sure you install DD-WRT (download file, flash via firmware update link on routers configuration page).DO IT, DO IT YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.

I have an pair of older G class wifi routers as wifi bridge made by Buffalo. They work reliably. However, I like to move to high speed wifi N network. I tried the wireless-N router made by Buffalo, they cannot work reliably as bridge or even AP at the N speed. Then I brought this one and trying to make it to be wireless N AP+bridge.Once I setup, it was working fine. However, four hours later, AP function still working, wifi-bridge stopped working. I don't get why wifi-G can work reliably, wireless-N can not? This wifi router working little better in time span than Buffalo. But the wifi speed was not as good as Buffalo. However, Buffalo only works for half hour, before I have to reset it.I am disappointed. I had high hope for this brand would work for setting up wifi bridge reliably at N speed. I have to start new search again.

This router was very easy to setup...the easiest I've ever worked with. My laptops connected to it very quickly. I have a couple bridges that also connected easily but the link quality and signal strength on them only reads in the 50%-65% range. The Transmit Power is "High" on the router and I've moved the bridges around and changed wifi channels with no improvement. Main concern is to avoid choppy streaming movies. I purchased an Alfa 9dBi WiFi Booster SMA OMNI-Directional High-Gain Screw-On Swivel Antenna to help so we'll see. I can live with these ranges but expected better based on reviews here.

My Dlink DIR655 has been giving me problems whichI have hopefully resolved. I installed this routerin order to make sure it works. The install usingthe supplied CD was a piece of cake. It was up andrunning within 15 minutes and works great. The rangeis about the same as my Dlink but the lights are notas bright which is a good thing in a semi-lit room.All in all, a nice piece of equipment which I'vedisconnected and will keep for a spare. Amazons pricewas fantastic for a router of this caliber.

A horrible experience indeed. After nearly 3 hours of frustrating experience to configure with my Cable internet provider service (DHCP) I returned it. What is supposed to be an intuitive 5 second operation failed repeatedly on 'Verify Configuration" step. My old DLink and the newer Belkin renew IP effortlessly and with same exact settings cables/devices.

I was looking for a basic but reliable wireless router so I could use my netbook around my condo, as well as hardwire my desktop PC and X360 to the internet. However I found that researching wireless routers is a nightmare, as for every person who lauds a particular model, there will be someone else who condemns it. This problem is especially prevalent among entry level models. Initially I was only considering LinkSys and DLink, since they are the two most famous consumer brands, but I couldn't find a basic model from either that was consistently rated well. There always seemed to be a small but significant proportion of users that would complain about dropped signals, running hot, firmware issues, etc. By chance though I saw this model reviewed on CNET [..]and immediately bought it from a local PC store. In addition to the good performance, long range, and ease of use as tested by CNET, this router was extremely affordable, which sealed the deal for me. After using this router for more than a year now, I can safely say that CNET's review is right on the money. It is a rock-solid router- I've only had 2-3 dropped signals to date. The signal easily covers every corner of my 3+1 bedroom condo, including the balcony. The unit does not run hot at all. Setting up and changing the settings on the router is indeed very easy and intuitive using the browser-based configuration. I strongly recommend that you download the latest firmware from TP-Link beforehand and update your router before actually setting up your network (it's very easy, just use the "update" option in the configuration screen and point to the downloaded firmware file). The fact that it is also one of the cheapest (but reliable) routers on the market is just icing on the cake. Keep in mind this is an entry-level model- 150Mbps only and no USB port for printer/HDD sharing, so if you need something more robust consider its bigger brothers like the 941ND or 1041ND. If you just need a no-frills, "fire and forget" wireless router to get online, buy this model, you won't be dissapointed.

Once set up, the unit works well. But the initial set up process took hours, partly because some of the instructions in the manual did not match what we were seeing as we went through the steps outlined. We were pleased with how quickly it arrived.

Got this up and running with little problem. Could browse the internet with my laptop just fine but then... I tried to connect with both my Roku box and my Wii. Ugh!! Apparently, this brand of router does not work well for this. I had to talk with Roku support several times and change this setting and that setting on the router but to no avail.. would never connect to the network. Went to the store and bought a Belkin router, installed it.. no problem at all connecting to my other devices. This is going DIRECTLY back to Amazon for refund.

I was in search of economic router to extend the reach of my wireless network. So I bought the router TpLink wr740n version 2 (the one with the UFO shape) which conforms with this premise, however I did not expect anything special from this wireless router, if it was capable of maintaining a speed of 54Mbps I'd be satisfied.So being a low-cost device and with the purpose of conducting a performance test, I decided to change the stock firmware with DDWRT firmware and that was an excellent decision, the device provides a super stable signal, wireless speed of 65Mbps at mixed mode BGN, it could reach the 150Mbps at N mode but I have to bear with my old wifi devices, good power (the router wr740n comes with a 5dBi antenna), the wan port (blue) is now an additional switch port, I bought it a month ago and I have not had to reboot it.Summarizing, this router, as second AP, is just what I needed plus all the improvements and tweaks the DDWRT firmware provides, it was an Excelent purchase.

I don't generally review products but this one deserves kudos.I had a WiFi G router and it just wasn't doing the job anymore, between Laptops, desktops with no ethernet access, blackberries, and now a new Roku player, we needed a wireless upgrade.As some other users mentioned, I just went with the manual install, no CD. Just go to 192.168.1.1 and you can click Quick Setup. There were two minor blips--one is the auto-detect tried to say Static IP but the correct option is Dynamic, so just selected that manually, no biggie. The second was I had to reboot the Cable modem. After that everything worked smoothly. I named the network the same as the old one with the same passkey and none of my other devices even needed any updating.Done. The whole process took 10 minutes and the connection is so much faster all around. By the way I live in a big high rise with lots of networks in range, and the interference is probably relatively strong, but the router is handling it beautifully.I also bought a TP-Link 300Mbs usb wireless card and that worked just as quickly.

Good product!I used netgear 300Mbps wireless router provided by comcast. The signal is not so good in one of my rooms(farthest one from the router, other rooms are good) and my roomate complained about it. That room is 3 walls away from the router.I bought this TP-Link router because it has external antenna. It provides much better signal. And at the same time, it is much cheaper than netgear.Con: It does not support third-party firmware(they provide many extra features like fine-grained QoS). It does not support IPv6, just like most other routers.Overall, I think this router is worth buying. You can't expect a "perfect" router for such a low price.

The router now sits in the corner, and I almost forgot about it. The reason - it just works with no issues so far.It was easy to set up, it automatically found all the right settings to connect to my cable modem (once I figured out that I needed to power cycle the modem after I connected the router to it). I manually changed all the WLAN security settings to use an advanced encryption. Similar to the previous reviewer, I did not use the installation CD.Now the router pairs nicely with a laptop (WLAN N) and a desktop (using another great TP-LINK product - 150Mbps USB adapter TL-WN722N). Desktop reports 150Mbps link all the time (about 30 feet distance), and so far I experienced no dropped connection, despite having many active WLAN routers around my apartment. During installation, I looked for the least used WLAN channel and set the router to use it.I did an extensive research to find the best moderately priced 300bps WLAN N router before choosing this product, and so far I am very happy with my choice.

I didn't have a router since my laptop was near the cable connection; however, I had a lot of problems logging into my company's network and someone said a router might fix the problem. I really didn't know anything about routers and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I searched on-line and read all the customer reveiws before deciding on the TP-Link 300 Mbps Wireless N Router and I am thrilled with it! It fixed the problem I had logging in to my company's network and I am able to use my laptop anywhere in my house. The set up took less than 10 minutes (including security set up). I love it ... good value for the money! I have used it almost every day and it continues to function well.

I bought this after reading so many great reviews of this wireless router. The price is fine, but after reading the great reviews I expected very fast service.... if anything, my service is below normal, and I don't know if I can attribute this to the Modem, Router, or ISP (RCN).While I had trouble setting up the Router, I was able to send in emails to the company, and the rep (in Taiwan) was very responsive, helpful, but it usually took one day to get a reply to my questions, so if one is in a hurry for customer service, I don't know how one would go about getting it.I can view videos on Hulu and Youtube without any problems.In summary, it works fine - but it is not as fast (or superior) as I had expected but I am not sure if the reason is due to my router, that is why I give it an "OK" rating.Sorry for my own confusion my own unit.

For the money you couldn't ask for a better router, easy to set up, great security features and great price. Had it up and running in a matter of minutes. It is wall mountable, has 4 ports in back, compatible with my wireless G devices and arrived 1 day ahead of schedule. If you can read and follow the simple quick install guide, you should have no problems. Would recommend this router to anyone wanting to go wireless N on a budget.

If you need to send signal all the way down the block. If you dream of aiming signal right where it is needed. If you need a little less signal, take off one or more antenna.This thing broadcasts 100 yards on the maximum setting. It broadcasts a signal 60 yards on Medium and about 100 ft on low. If you need less, as I said, they recommend removing an antenna.Don't get this for a small apartment or small house. It would be overkill.But if you have a place of business and you want to offer WiFi to your customers, this is the fast wireless router you have been looking for. All sorts of option in the configuration, or just use their wizard to configure it simply. You don't need to know anything about installing WiFi to get this up and running.

This router is great. I bought one about 4 months ago and it has been running since the day I got it. No freezes, lockups, no drop in speed.The only things about this router is, do not use the CD that comes with it. Manually set the network up in the router. If you have a basic knowledge of routers/networking it is an easy setup. Also, it does run a little hot. However, if you elevate it to allow air to pass under it as well it keeps it considerably cooler.I would buy this product again.

After reading all previous good comments I bought the device. Installation was a breeze, the wizard is well designed and the manual is actually helpful. Preliminary runs were good, wireless speed is excellent (compared with my previous router, a D-Link best forgotten). Also the signal reaches all of my house and is strong.Then it went downhill just as fast: it drops (wireless) connection almost every 30 seconds or so. True, my laptop reconnects automatically, but that is just enough to avoid total disaster.Completely unreliable, look for something else. I guess I'll have to try returning it.

I bought one from the Amazon market. I have spent some time to configure it. In the end, I found I made a low level mistake to miss using the MAC clone. After using MAC clone according to the installation guide, it works in 54Mb/s. After modifing the wireless security to wpa2-private, it works in 130Mb/s. That's great.
