Нужна была точка доступа для раздачи интернета с выделенной линии, то есть с портом WAN и желательно с WiFi N.Сначала думал взять какой-нибудь D-Link DAP-1160 (который кстати только WiFi G), так как до этого пользовался только ими (опять же в силу цены/качества), но потом наткнулся на отзывы о TP-Link, в частности ревьируемой модели. До это, сказать честно, к TP-Link относился скептически, потому как слышал много лестных отзывов ("греются, разрывы" и т.д.), но в этот раз решил...

С Билайном (Украина) роутер работает не очень хорошо, но это скорее всего проблема у Билайна, т.к. на другом провайдере роутер работает на все +5.

- - При установке созвонилась с менеджером провайдера интернета и тот сказал, что модель сильно устарела и скорость интернета будет низкой. Но уже покупка сделана, буду пробовать этот роутер.

I'm a neophyte when it comes to Wi-Fi, so I wanted something truly plug & play. I'm also always interested in a bargain & don't need the $100+ routers with bells & whistles I won't understand, don't need & will never use. I'm not setting up a network or running a biz... I just want to walk around my house with my laptop when listening to an online chat show or YouTube clip.This TP-Link did the trick & was easy. I must admit that I needed to do research for a day first, to read up on what I needed & to understand the tech words I might come across. If new to Wi-Fi, I'd suggest to do that anyway. I went to one of the big box office supply stores & they sold me the wrong equipment twice... so, I decided to just go online, read, research & purchase & install it myself.I had a few hits & misses, but the day of researching first helped me in the sense that I knew where to go to find answers, like online message boards. To anyone with even a bit of Wi-Fi experience, you'll set this up in 15-30 min. For someone brand new like me, well, it took a few hours because I misunderstood a couple of steps & was afraid to proceed until I researched more & understood exactly which direction to take. Honestly, looking back, it was easy... it was just my first time through & I had no idea what wireless was before setting this up myself.For the low, low price, for me, it's the way to go. For newbies, I'll say, remember there are 2 passwords needed to protect your connection, so go through the user's manual. It's all in the directions, which by the way, are not included beyond Easy Start Up instructions. You'll need to find the free user's manual with a simple browser search & read through it.Since I've been through it once, I could easily set this up in 30-min for someone else. I have had no problems with it & it's been 1-mo now. Some online techies with good intentions warned me about buying a cheaper router. I don't see why. For my simple purposes, it's been great & I'm glad I went with one of the cheapest routers out there with very good reviews.

I am really impressed with this router and I am very pleased with this purchase especially at this price!I wanted a low-cost replacement and got tired of spending a lot of money for routers that worked "okay". I have owned three Linksys routers: BEFW11S, WRT54G and WRT54GS; all had problems requiring constant physical reboots at least every day (even with DD-WRT isntalled). Eventually replaced these with an Airport Extreme Wireless N a year ago. The AE was a HUGE disappointment and for $199 I was severely irate that the Linksys had MORE controls and features for 1/3 the cost. Unfortunately the AE did not need resetting like the Linksys'. With my bad experience I wasn't about to drop another hundred for a Buffalo or Asus either.My original intent of this router was to install OpenWRT and Gargoyle for the bandwidth monitoring and control so the pricetag of $35 was my deciding factor --if I screwed up flashing it, I would only be out a small chunk of change... However, if you do want to run custom firmware, this router is (generally speaking) unsupported; mine shipped as v7.1 and thus far v5 is the only supported/released version.Upon physically installing the router I immediately noticed the webadmin IP address, username and password printed on the identification sticker located on the bottom of the router. Wow, no needing a manual just to login; what a great start! The remaining portion of router setup was extremely simple and if ANY of the options did confuse me, the webGUI's right-side contains well written and detailed help info.The biggest bonus (for me) that came built in this router is bandwidth control. NICE! Just the feature I was wanting. And to think I only bought this to install custom software. I will say that bandwidth control setup is intuitive and works great. Keep in mind though that you MUST bind the IP address with the MAC address of the computers you wish to control or setup static IP or something. Binding is easier, but that's your choice. Bandwidth control is configured by creating rules; rules which can be applied to a single or IP range. Each rule can also specify min and max upload and download speeds.The only improvement I would love to see (which is available in Gargoyle) is bandwidth capping based on usage as opposed to overall limits. So, if your ISP gives you 10GB per month and you want to limit each PC in the home to 2GB per month, than this router (unmodified) is not for you. However, if a user is always downloading something and you can't stand all the bandwidth hogging --than you should find this router acceptable.Another nice surprise was in the Security control with which I can limit local web setup to specific MAC addresses; great if you do not want other computer users to try and access the web setup page and WLAN bridging.More features I have yet to try:Parental controls: The Router, providing convenient Parental Control function to control the internet activities of the child, can limit the child to access certain websites and restrict the time of surfing. On this page, you can create the ruleaccess control.Access Controls: The Router, providing convenient and strong internet access control function, can control the internet activities of hosts in the LAN. Moreover, you can flexibly combine the Host List, Target List and Schedule to restrict the Internet surfing of these hosts.[edit 1Feb2011]Okay, I have owned this router for one week now and thought I would do an update:1- WiFi hangs or does not always restore itself following a software reboot -have to power cycle to get WiFi back online.2- With that said, the TP-Link does come with a power button! Much easier to click-off-click-on than to unplug and hope the cord doesn't come out all the way. Very very handy when the router is shoved under a desk or some place painfully inaccessible and a power cycle is necessary.3- The parental and access controls have me thoroughly confused. There are 4 pages (maybe more) that deal with setting up these controls; very convoluted. My attempt to time-lock one computer at a specific time apparently knocked everything offline.Other than these (3) problems, I am still really happy with this router

I read the reviews carefully before ordering this one,some bad and most good/decent. I liked the fact that it is supposed to have good range and EXTERNAL antennas, as most new routers have internal ones. I'm old school; I like to see my equipment and that includes antennas. Most of the new wireless routers have the turtle effect: everything is inside and out of sight, so who knows what is inside (this includes the RF end of things and it's effectiveness in radiating out the signal).Alas, I went to set it up and the Ethernet ports were dead on arrival. I changed the cable to rule that out and still no connection. Yes, I also reset it.So back in the box it goes. I refuse to work for free trying to diagnose some one else's problem when it is brand new and apparently there is very little quality control/post production testing/production line sampling of their product(s). I guess that's what happens when things aren't made in the country where they are used.Good luck to all the others that roll the dice.

First thing I did was open this up and get DD-WRT on it. The process was pretty straight forward, just get the newest version with the build for this model and flash it through the web UI. One drawback with DD-WRT is the LEDs on the top no longer flash with activity, but this is a minor drawback.I set this up first as a wireless bridge to provide ethernet port access to local devices over wifi adding the WAN port to the switch. This worked fine, but even with wireless N to my router the performance wasn't quite up to par; it was slow. I believe this is mainly due to the weak fios router antenna and weak wireless signal downstairs. So I ended up running cat6 anyway and just doing it right, nothing against the device.Since wireless signal downstairs wasn't the best, I figured why not set up two APs then? Leave this in one area of the house with weak signal and have the main fios router to cover the upstairs? Works great for that, now I have two APs set up with the same SSID and WPA2 settings, one on channel 11 and one and channel 1 for full house coverage. My laptop and phone both seamlessly choose the strongest AP and I have no complaints. DD-WRT is great software and it truly makes this router perform wonderfully. Zero issues with wireless stability and no real complaints with the coverage from the built in antennas.I didn't try tomato or any other distribution with this router, I've used tomato in the past and it was wonderful, but I'm not aware of a build for this particular model, but no complaints with DD-WRT for what I'm using it for.

5 months after I ordered this router it started giving me problems, cutting in and out, and ultimately not connecting to the internet at all. I called TP-Link for customer support and they were very helpful. I was on the phone with them for 35 minutes one day and we thought we resolved the problem by resetting the router. The very next day the network wasn't showing up again, so I called again. After another 20 minute phone call we determined that the router wasn't working properly and needed to be returned to the supplier. Unfortunately, Amazon is only able to give me a partial refund since I only had 30 days after purchase to return the item. I will not be buying a TP-Link router again. Super frustrated.

The TP-Link TL-WR841N is a good wireless router for a good price. Key benefits:* Thanks to its large antennas and configurable power level, it offers much better coverage than the more expensive Medialink 802.11n router (Medialink - Wireless N Router - 802.11n - 150 Mbps - 2.4 Ghz - NEW Design w/ Internal Antenna) that we were previously using. We now get full-house network coverage, whereas half the house had very poor connectivity with the Medialink unit.(!) One thing to look out for is a powerful wifi router can interfere with a weak cable internet signal. If you're using high power mode and can't access the internet, try switching to medium or low power, or moving the router further away from your cable modem and cable line. I also found that using a higher wifi channel number (e.g., 11, the highest authorized in the US) causes less interference. In the end, I just moved the cable modem and router to a different cable outlet much closer to the cable connection to the house to get a stronger cable signal.* The web-based configuration menus offer a lot of useful options. Each configuration page includes documentation on the right hand side. This is a lot easier than looking things up in a separate manual or online (especially if your internet connection isn't working!).* Bonus: Includes WDS support, to allow the router to act as a repeater for another wifi router (sometimes called a "signal booster"). However I wasn't able to properly configure WDS, because the only wifi network I could connect to was my neighbor's, and they use the Medialink 802.11n router with WPA2 enabled (WDS isn't standardized, so it generally doesn't work with WPA2 between different brand devices). For what it's worth, I wasn't able to get Netgear or Belkin WDS wifi repeaters to work with my neighbor's WPA2 network, either, so this is another strike against Medialink, not TP-Link.* The physical enclosure has a simple design and feels solid.

This router works great.And, installation is real easy, IF you are smart enough to write down the security code located on the s/n sticker on the bottom of the unit. You will need to enter this number in a text-box when you search for a wireless connection for each pc. The pc won't recognize the signal without this number entered into the text box.I had to call customer service. The gal was patient and helpful. There was a small language issue, but I am pretty used to it now so we repeated our questions/comments until we understood each other.Once you enter the security code it takes off and finishes the install on it's own. You'll be amazed at how much faster "n" is than "g". Great price and free shipping at Amazon.

I installed one of these for a client whose office is in an old Chicago home with plaster-on-wood-studs interior walls. Setup was a snap, and performance for both the computer, which is in the same room, and her Roku Internet TV adapter, which is several rooms away, is terrific. I haven't run any scientific tests, but a throughput test run using [...] produced results that were almost as good as when I connected the computer directly to the customer's cable modem. This is a basic router, so don't go looking for a particularly advanced firewall or support for QoS, but it does offer a few advanced features, such as the ability to reserve an IP address within the DHCP range for a particular device.

I had a Netgear given to me by Dish that was a total nightmare. It was not strong enough with its signal to even let my printer get online! Like most routers, that netgear had a small, fixed 2dBi antenna, and their customer service would not honor their warranty because I didn't buy it myself. But this TPLink has a big 5dBi antenna that really gets my signal everywhere! It has great security, is super easy to install and was really, really affordable! And their customer service is great too! A 2 year warrantyThis is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time!

I got this from Santa and it works great. I am not very computer savvy but this turned my PC into wi-fi like it was supposed to. I was a little concerned with set up because the disc that comes with it is a mini disc and I don't have a mini playing CD Rom so I didn't know how I was going to set it up. You do get instructions on how to set it up without the disc and they are super easy to follow (even for us non-tekkies). Great gift.

I'm NOT a tech person so I was beyond hesitant when buying my first wifi router (yes, this was my FIRST router... I've been plugged in to the modem for the past 10 years). This was SUPER easy to set up - I just plugged everything in and popped the little dvd into my laptop. I was connected to the internet within 5 minutes. I use the wifi within a space of about 600 sq. feet and get excellent reception. Very pleased!

For the most part this works very well, and my family is satisfied. However, I don't know what happened the other day, but the WiFi was just not working. Once I plugged my computer directly into the internet modem, it worked fine. But then the router eventually started working again later that evening, so I'm not really sure. It works all right. It's good for the money you pay.

I am pleased with the output of this router. I did run into problems with it not being compatable with my DSL router. When I plugged it in my internet light would stop responging. FIX! All I had to do was use an old router between the DSL router and the TP-Link router. No Issues at all since. If that was not an issue I would give 5 stars.

I've got no complaints with this little router. The range is good. The signal is strong.I replaced an old linksys 54G router and this is quite an upgrade. Most of my devices are "N" now and this router fits the bill. I've got a bit of a geeky background so the setup was a breeze through the web interface.I currently have a tablet, desktop, chromebook, and my phone connected without any issues. Highly recommended.

Got this mainly so my daughter could use her laptop while she's staying with us but also hope to use it for wireless netflix soon. Had to get help from the Comcast techs to get it working with their modem but that didn't take too long and since then has been just fine. Really good bang for the buck and hopefully longlasting too.

May be it is incompatible with Mac products (it does not indicate as such). But I have to keep rebooting it every once in a while, Sometimes, right in the middle of me watching a program on my apple TV, or being on the internet on my Mac or iPad, I lose signal resulting in my having to reboot. Really annoying!!

i got this product as a replacement for an aging airlink 'g' router which dropped wireless signals whenever the smart meter installed by the local utility company called home. and that happens two to three times a day. the tplink router had no issues with the smart meter. it gets hot when there is heavy internet traffic so its highly recommended to keep it in a well ventilated area. i got the best signal when i installed it vertically on a wall 4 feet off the ground with the antennas pointing down. my family watches HD videos simultaneously through netflix on at least 3 wireless 'n' devices with no problem.
