My husband and I are not TV people. This drives our local cable company nuts. We have a mobile device we use to hook up to the internet because we like to write from various location and you can't take cable service on the road with you. However, this left me with an old desktop that occasionally needed to get online. The TP-LINK Dual Band Wireless Adapter was the answer! The box contains a mini set up disc with quick set up guide, the TP-LINK TL-WDN3200 Dual Band Wireless N600 USB adapter and should you need it, a 3 foot extension cable. I followed the instructions and in less than 5 minutes, I was online. This adapter works with XP, Vista and Windows 7. If it works on our old desktop, I think it would work on most laptops. It was easy to set up and use and works great!

I bought two of these, one for mine and one for my wife's computer. They were a pain to get working from the start. The device would randomly stop, no light. And it wasn't any faster than the wireless-G adapter I took off. The first one stopped working after about a week actually. The computer could not see the device, and when I picked it up to disconnect/reconnect it was very HOT. Hours of troubleshooting yielded no results, and I was thinking maybe it was the computer. But last night the other did the same thing. It was working fine, and the connection dropped. But then the light on the device was not on either. When I grabbed it to check it, it practically burned my hand, I unplugged it and let it sit over night. This morning "it's dead Jim", the computer will not see the device, it "Kirk'd out" on me. I took my older wireless-G adapter and plugged it in, and I got connection. These don't even deserve a 1 star, I'd give them 0 star's if I could. I need to find my receipt....

This adapter is packaged well and includes a 3 feet long USB extension cable and a mini setup disc. I use this adapter for my HP desktop to get the wireless internet connection. It comes with instructions for easy installation. You can use either use the cd to install the driver or download the latest driver from the tplink website. It is easy to set up and works great. It works well with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. It downloads and uploads with faster speed. All in all, it makes the wireless experience awesome.

If you have a tower in another room in your house, or don't have a laptop with a wireless interface, this USB port link is reliable. You have to take a few steps to set up the link, but once done - it seems to work fairly well (only been testing it a few days, and the new VINE rules want reviews in 30 days, so long term testing is out). If you are actually in a situation where you need a USB based wireless link - this seems like a good one. I'm not sure who needs this these days.

This little guy works with Linux Mint 14 (likely previous versions of Ubuntu and Linux Mint as well).Although others have indicated this is plug and play, here is how I got it to work on Linux Mint 14: 1. plug it into your USB port (nothing happened for me) 2. connect an ethernet cable to your PC 3. Start your Update Manager and let it find the software it needs 4. Go into your Network Manager. It should detect your wireless adapter. Configure your wireless security and you should be good to go.For anyone wondering, this USB wireless adapter works flawlessly with LM14 including being able to wake up normally from suspend mode. My only concern is the week signal it shows (80%) when the PC is within 5 feet of an Asus N Router. Hopefully, it will behave normally once I move the PC 35 ft away.

I understand that the product description indicates it's for use with "Windows XP 32/64bit, Vista 32/64bit, Windows 7 32/64bit," but other reviews - and even the product website itself - imply that there is a driver available to make it function with Windows 8. I followed all the reasonable steps and others' advice, and could not get it to work. I would also echo other reviews in pointing out the larger size of this product - on my laptop, it blocks a 2nd USB port from even being accessible.

It does do the job of increasing my bandwith on an older macbook I would say about 80% of the time.The other 20% not so much of a difference but not enough of a drop for me to say that it's not worth it if you have an older laptop/macbook and looking to get a nice little boost on your MPS (providing the rest of your network is stable which ours is).

We had an old pc that didn't have wireless built in. This was a great way to make it wifi ready and allow for the fastest speed available with n standard and 5GHZ. It was easy to set up and has been working well since then. I would recommend this product.

I've been having great success using this to connect my PC to the wireless network in my house. Worked out of the box with both Windows 7 and Ubuntu. Also, it came with a little USB extension cable, which helps plug it into cramped USB slots.Occasionally (usually just after the computer boots up or wakes from sleep mode) it needs to be unplugged and replugged to be detected, but I've yet to have it suddenly stop working while I'm on the computer.

The building I live in has free wi-fi but the signal in my apartment is weak. Service was really slow. Because this adapter is a dual band device when I hooked it up to my computer it made all the difference in the world!! Highly recommended.

Update November 11, 2012:Changed Stars from 3 to 5.Retested this adaptor both on an encrypted connection, and an open wifi.At this point, on ArchLinux, adaptor worked flawlessly. The reason for the change may be improved Arch software.Original review follows:For those of you who are looking for a USB wifi adaptor that is well supported by the Linux kernel, this unit is a definite possibility.I used this unit for a long time with Arch Linux. And until very recently, it worked fine. Suddenly, it was problematic. I worked to troubleshoot it for some time, without luck.I determined the device would work fine in a new install, but somehow it would fail in an updated system. As you may well know, Arch Linux gets updates continuously.Buyer beware.Steve.

Just plug it in and it will work for you in seconds. Fast setup. My wireless router only got 150Mbps so I can't say how fast it is.

works well in my laptop but not recognized in my WD TV live, even though the WD web site tells me this model is supported. May send 1 back and try another WD compatible adapter

Have been using it for 2 years since my builtin laptop adapter stopped working; very reliable so far and great speed. Able to get signals anywhere from my house; far better than a mini USB adapter that I have. Probably the negative reviewers had issues with software installation or setup; for me, it just worked once the drivers are installed and no issues since then. If you are looking for a good USB adapter, this is highly recommended based on my experience.

I debated about getting the Onkyo UWF-1 Wireless LAN Adapter (currently $25.45 ) and the TP-Link TL-WN722N 150Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Adapter (currently $15.91) and this TP-LINK TLWN721N Adapter (currently selling for $7.99 at Frys). I decided on this cheaper option. What did I have to lose?This little adapter works like a charm with my Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver, for much less money. By the way, my receiver sets about 25 feet (next room) away from my ATT U-Verse router. I get between 85 - 95% signal strength. The unit comes with a USB extender cord for placing the adapter behind the receiver, if desired.I would highly recommend this adapter, at least for the kind of use that I have explained above.

The internal wireless adapter stopped working on my laptop and this works great as a substitute. Have had it for 4 months and haven't had any problems with it. My only complaint is that it's a little bulky but for the cost I can't really complain.

No complications whatsover with the installation and setup for my Windows 7 64-bit systems. Recognized by Windows immediately, and with a wired ethernet connection as backup Windows Update loaded the Atheros driver automatically. Updated manually to the TP-Link Website's posted driver following that and there have been no hiccups. Internet throughput is NO different than if I was plugged in...although I haven't tested the data rate within my LAN (D-Link DIR-655) yet. Signal is good everywhere I've tried -- so not a bad deal.

At first I was very apprehensive because I was not very familiar with TPlink and their products. The price was also very dirt cheap ~ $11.00 which did not instill any confidence on my part about the product's reliability and workmanship. I am extremely happy I made the purchase anyway as the item has performed superbly for me for the past week or two. My computer is on the first floor of my home and the router is on the second floor, and there is no problem with the signal strength no matter where I go in the house. I have used it for skype, netflix, online gaming, etc and it has never dropped the signal or locked up in any way whatsoever. I have thrown everything I can to get this adapter to choke but it refuses to and all this with full bars to boot...it never goes below the full bars. If you are on windows 7, just plug it in and windows will install the driver automatically...easy...done. If you are one of those who must have the latest drivers, it is available at their website and that is what I use although the built in windows drivers work fine but I only tested it for about a day.
