We purchased this when we set up our home office & needed to connect extra computers to our network. Installation was easy and we haven't experienced any network related issues with it so far.

As long as you understand what this is and how to use it, you will be happy. The price is right and the switch works perfectly. Easy to set up and use. The gigabit speed means no bottle neck on your network, at least not at the switch. Get wired up and enjoy the ride.

I purchased this switch for a small home network with public access e.g. a couple of websites.I am subscribing to a few static public IP's for my servers, unfortunately it is limited to somewhere around 700kBs upload speeds.Wish they could balance it more to a 50/50 ratio. Perhaps in the future, although Phone lines have their limitations.On the other hand it seems to be sufficient for what I am doing, with about 18,000 hits per year.The switch is directly connected to the DSL modem and provides thereby 15 theoretical public IP numbers, which 8 of them are used.Throughout the past two weeks the switch is just doing what it is supposed to do, working great.My server have Gigabit NIC's , so at least on this part of the network there will be no bottlenecks.Although, in my configuration I might not be able to use the full potential of this switch, it is nice to know that I have some horsepower left.All over I am very satisfied with the price to performance ratio.

Very solid performance. Really sped up my home network. I can fast forward through hi-def movies now over ethernet faster than I could with my DVR.

For the price, this thing is unbeatable. i have 22 of the ports in use, i ran cat5e throughout my house, did directv whole home dvr via this thing, works great, reliable speeds, plug n play, no hassles at all.

I need a 8-port ethernet switch to add more stuff to my home network. This worked as soon as I plugged it in. No delay, no set-up required. I just worked as I expected. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and there has been no problems. Nice!

The switch works as promised. I have it connected to a gigabit router via 100 feet of cat6 cable and I'm seeing 50MB+ on file transfers. Not bad.

I bought these units as a part of a home upgrade to gigabit ethernet (replaced 10/100 switches). My main router is a Netgear Wireless Dual-band with 4 gigabit ethernet ports, thus I needed these to propagate gigabit through my home network wiring. The TL-SG1008D installed easily, works as specified and are fan-less (thus, quiet, but yet cool).

I've been running this for 2 months now on my home network to extend the network to 2 additional Roku units in other parts of the home and extend the Gigabit router. It works! No problems. Stays cool and I've seen no issues with speed of any kind.

Works great! Installation couldn't be any easier. The lights are helpful and the switch runs quiet and cool. There are smaller units available if size is a premium, but this one seems to work very well.

This switch does what it says on the box. It is compact, lightweight and I like that it is green so that it uses less power on the unused ports.It also does not radiate heat out of the top so that it can be placed above / below other equipment.

I was advised to get this as I need to network a potential of 3 or 4 computers on the spot for sharing photos, syncing etc. I haven't had time to research it, but supposedly you just plug in all the computers and network... not so easy. Works sometimes, sometimes not. Very flaky connection, not dependable, very slow. Usually do not have time to wait for the pics to load on one machine attempting to view them on the other. I would like to have known what I need to do to make this work right, now I have to invest a lot of time researching it.

I was able to achieve transfer rates of ~560 megabits/sec with this device over a questionable cat5e cable @ 100 feet. I was a little worried that the house is plastic and feels cheap, but it runs very cool, which is a sign of good power efficiency.

The switch works flawlessly, and the gigabit speeds will easily handle any consumer load. I was able to transfer files from 10 of my machines all at once, every one of them transferring at 100MB/sec, full duplex for just about 20Gbps of saturation. I'm sure it can handle the full 48Gbps as stated, I just ran out of machines to test with. It's not listed in the description, but it does support 10k jumbo frames. The lights go blinky blink.It comes with some rubber feet and rackmount ears, which can be placed normally or at a right angle, for those without racks that want to wall mount. It uses the standard IEC C13 power socket, aka the same cable/plug that computers and monitors have, an internal power supply, and it also comes with a grounding terminal.The only downside to this switch, is since it's designed to be installed in a rack, expecting higher temperatures, the fan is a bit loud. Not enough for rage face, but noticeable. In fact it's the loudest thing in my rack, besides my main machine. I'm sure anyone competent with electronics can open it up and swap out the fan, so it's no big deal.Basically- no setup, no configuration, no rebooting, no hassles. Just plug it in, connect your router and machines, then enjoy gigabit speeds on your network.

This hub is fast, 1000mb, simple and easy to install. I had no issues setting it up and it works perfectly. It is installed in my home theater and links to my main hub and router in another room. Most importantly it has no bottlenecks.

My roommate and I are in college, and share a gigabit ethernet plug. we use this to have fast internet on both out laptops, and there is no speed decrease. Works in the background, and I have never needed to restart it or anything.

I have two of these things. They are great. Inexpensive and works like it should. If only wireless was more reliable I wouldnt had to have purchased these. But Im glad I did.

I would definitely recommend this product to any home network manager or a small business network manager. I use it at home so that all my children's computers can connect at the same time also to break up my linux/windows environment and to add more/better wireless coverage to the house.

I needed a switch for my downstairs office. This one seemed pretty cheap for all the features so I was worried but the reviews here and on Newegg were fairly good so I ordered it along with some other stuff from Amazon.Just plug everything in and your ready to go. Nothing to worry about.

Very happy with this Switch. I too tried other more "known" network switches out there, but was never really impressed. Endless power cycles normally fixed the problem but thats not ideal. Based on the other reviews, decided to give this switch a try. Very happy. Have a BD player, two Apple Tvs, a Tivo, a networked receiver and a Tivo all connected into the switch. Many stream HD video. No network issues to report. Also runs very cool too !

Not much to write about an unmanaged switch except that these are inexpensive, simple and worked just fine. I got tired of my weak wireless in parts of the house and had ethernet cables available, so I just put a couple of these in. No issues.

Easy to mount and not very noisy fan. Performs very well under gigabit load. Metal case helps to dissipate heat. Recommended for small network with mixed gigabit and 100 megabit devices. Lights available on same side as ports is a bit of a hassle for desktop/flat mount. Use the enclosed rack/wall mount brackets for best airflow.

Purchased this for additional ports on our network. The performance is outstanding. The latency between our workstations and application servers was reduced to under 1ms from 4-5ms on our other unmanaged switches. Would buy again!

Works as advertised, a little bit light weight and can get pulled by the weight of the ethernet cables plugged into it, but hey, what ever. It's $15 lol. Very fast, no problems so far, totally worth the cash for a 5 port gigabit switch. Love it.

We had a problem with our wifi reaching through out the house. We are big online gamers and was losing a lot of download and upload. Once we got this switch, we were able to use it to wire our gaming towers up. No lag now :)

This item replaced a Netgear of similar design and this is far better and has more speed and control of the Ethernet ports, It helps out with congested internet by being fast and having ability to power down unused ports, and it controls the ports by data flow which helps out with speed I think. I notice more through put of data and faster. I would However suggest the 8 port switch if you have larger area or for future expansion.

I ordered the 5 port and the 8 port Gigabit switch.The order was filled very fast.The 5 port works great but the 8 port gigabit switch arrived dead.I am asking for a replacement. If all goes well I will update this review.

I got this switch to live under my desk at work. It allows me to have my primary machine, a licensing server machine, and my slate/tablet all connect to the single hardwired port available in my office space. I haven't had to mess with this switch or worry about a thing since plugging it in. Outside of a power outage or two it has run continuously without issue for months.

The TP-Link TL-SG1024D unmanaged switch did not connect correctly with some gigabit devices on the network, connecting at 100mb whether device was set for auto or 1000mb, and it seemed to have problems with jumbo frames. Since it is an unmanaged switch there was not much to do to tweak it. I suspect it would be fine in most environments where it is the only switch and the network is confined to one physical location. The price is certainly attractive. The vendor, Datavision Computer Video, issued an RMA almost immediately and was superb throughout the return process.

Running short of connections behind your TV? This is cheaper than running one wire and adds 7 connections. If you already have cat 5 or cat 6 wiring then you'll have gigabit back to your main Internet connection. I bought 3 and saved hundreds compared to running new wires.

I have a TP-Link wireless router and tried a different brand switch to save a few dollars. In the end, I returned the one I originally bought and got this one. I now have installed my very own shared home network and by adding a media streamer, I have created my own virtual cloud! Works great!
