I travel a great deal, both domestically and overseas, and internet access is critical for me. I often have one of two problems:1. Internet available in the room only via hard-wire2. Weak wifi signal in the room (sometimes a router is out and the nearest one is 50 feet away in the hallwayTherefor many years ago (3?) I learned to carry a portable router/repeater. I have been very happy with the Asus mini router, but wanted to try something newer.So far, the TP-LINK TL-MR3020 has served me well as a repeater and as a router.Pros:-Cheap-Small-Reasonably easy set up-Reliable-No software glitchesCons:-None so far

Lighting fast shipping from Amazon, well packaged and easy to open. I almost laughed at the size of it but it but after a close inspection it's a powerhouse of features. Very easy to pack way for trips and the distance of use is at least over 150 feet, not sure of the total distance, but suffice to say it's well worth the cost. I didn't know what to expect with this small portable router but must say I'm pleased. I travel a lot and always have my laptop, while most hotels have wifi service I'd rater plug my router directly into the wired service then have the freedom and safety using my own Wifi secure signal. Range is ok for what I need but don't count on having a wide area of coverage as it is limited. The mini USB power outlet is handy for charging or powering other items you might be traveling with, while overseas this always comes in handy because I know the voltage is correct and don't need to search for another power adapter.

I tested this router out at home, so I would be prepared on what to do when I was traveling, or had to stay at a hotel with just wired service. I was very surprised at the quality of this little router. I replace it with my Netgear router which I'm really not too fond of, because my wireless phone always interferes with the Netgear. This little router is a powerhouse for sure. Not only did it not interfere with my wireless phone, but I noticed that the speed increased as well. We tested it with four tablets, two laptops and my desktop, and I have to say that I was really impressed with this little gadget. The instructions are a little tricky, but if you know what you are doing, you won't have any problems with it. If not, you can always call customer service to guide you through the process. This is a keeper!

This router is compact and portable and is relatively simple to install and use. Build quality seems good.There are already 72 or so reviews of this item on this page so I am pretty sure I cannot add any more technical data. What I did find though, is it is the instructions are ok, not great, but it if one has a rudimentary knowledge of modern computing and connecting, it won't be difficult to set up and use.I did appreciate the fact of how it easily converts to wifi with just an ethernet outlet, as others have previously mentioned. The range is limited as others have found out and that is a disappointment. I may use it for some other applications as a variety of these other reviews have detailed. It may be that one of those is the best way to use this router.

Setup is simple. Will share one connection wirelessly to multiple devices. Useful for remote areas that do not offer wireless. I'm sure there will be more to post but I have to come across more situations to test it's abilities.UPDATE: I thought this would do something other than the router provided from the ISP. That router spreads my landline DSL throughout the house. For some reason I thought this would boost the service but it does the same thing. So far the only person this would be good for is those that have a "phone line" internet service and want to transform it into a wireless signal for multiple users. It's my opinion that most ISP's provide this equipment - if I'm wrong or there's another reason, please enlighten this "regular" user.

This device will create a wireless hot spot by connecting a single 3G/4G modem or an Ethernet wire to it. It is very useful when you have multi users and a single USB modem or when you use a tablet or some other device that does not have a wired Ethernet port in some hotels where only a wired internet connection is available.Set up is very simple, and it can be powered by its mini USB connected to a laptop or the power adapter. The very small size makes it easy to fit in a pocket. Great product at a reasonable price and it works as advertised. Well-earned five stars.

This is just what I needed for routine travel. It provides a fast and easy connection for any of the wireless devices in may arsenal (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch). This is way easier than some of the other other solutions out there. I have used this to connect multiple devices over a variety of platforms and all performed flawlessly and had a strong internet connection. There was never a point at which the service failed as a result of this device. I have to say that the stability of this item is one of the major selling points. Other items in this class that I have used seem to be a bit sketchy from time to time. Not the TP-LINK. This device made travel a breeze and allowed for multiple connections. For the price, it cannot be beat. I had zero issues with this product.

This a little wireless router which includes a USB port for a 3G or 4G wireless card. You can connect a number of devices from what would normally just run on one laptop and share the connection. This is neat.A cool feature of the router, however, is that it runs in three different modes. The default is the 3G/4G mode. There is also a mode for connecting with a WAN. A really cool mode is the AP mode, in which the device acts as a normal wireless router that you can plug into a LAN.The device's small form factor makes this perfect for setting up rogue access points. Note that I do not advocate doing anything illegal here, but it might be nice to turn that wired network into a wireless one.The versatility of the device is really great, and installing it is great (as much as I hate those mini CDs).

I am pleased with the ease of using this little portable router.Perfect little travel companion just in case there are no wireless or PAID wireless access in you hotel room...this has happened to me more than one time and I have a tablet Nexus 7 that doesn't' have wired access.. so this solved the problem.This will be traveling me on all trips going forward.It is small enough to tuck right into my carry on luggage and powerful enough to solve my problems and saves me a little money.Use can't be any easier just plug in the cables, setup was almost automatic, and instant wi-fi connection to the Internet. At this price point it is very affordable solution to a nagging travelers problem.

This is so much smaller and lighter than I anticipated, though I did read the product description. We used this as interim router in our home until we had the time to look for a full size, decently priced, less portable one. Setup was easy and no one noticed a change in download or surfing speed. I will use it in hotels when we travel, but am most looking forward to using it while camping! I love surfing and watching movies on my Kindle Fire in a tent. I know, so not the point of camping.The product comes especially well-packaged and the directions are concise and easy to understand. Even though I'm not highly proficient in technical matters, I'm pretty confident that I'll find myself using this router more often than I originally anticipated.

There are good and not-so-good points about this portable router.For the positive, it is very small, lightweight and very attractive-looking.On the down side, the instructions that came with this unit are very difficult to follow, do not make sense, and are often contradictory. It is impossible to find out what the user name should be, what the initial password should be, and it does not make it clear if the user can set these two pieces of information separately. Two friends and I tried to figure it out, but it was impossible.I should point out I wanted to use this as a portable router, but the main reason for this router supposedly is to use it as a hot spot for your laptop, when hooked up to your 3G or 4G cell phone. I did not attempt to use it in that manner.

Got this to use with my USB760 version modem. Out of the box I upgraded to the most recent version of its firmware as many have suggested. That probably was not a good idea, after a few days of emails with TP-Link I was finally able to get it to work. IT NOW WORKS GREAT!. Apparently the newest firmware (as of this date) will not work with the USB760. You have to revert to a version of the firmware that is not the most recent version. TP-Link knows this and are working on a solution so by the time you get it they may have it fixed. I am definitely recommending this, just don't expect it to be worry free at first if you are planning to use a USB760 from Verizon in the US.

This is a great product first of all. The reason I gave it four stars is because there is something better. There is a product that does the same thing but has a battery in it. This produce will do the job of mobile internet, but having to plug it in seems to defeat the purpose behind it. The plus of the device is that it is small, looks good, and really works well. But if I am taking it with me for remote internet access, I do not want to find a plug for it. And the need for cables is too much. Look for the battery operated product, it is just as good and more convenient. But if this works for you, go for it, it works well and is well made.

I travel every week, so this Portable Router has become a constant companion. Many of the smaller laptops, tablets, etc. don't have Ethernet ports. Unfortunately, that's what a lot of the hotel rooms still use.I'm not very tech savvy, but this router was very easy to use. I just attached the hotel Ethernet cord to it, and my iPad picked the WiFi signal up right away. It's as simple as that.I think the price is great too - can't go wrong with this if you travel a lot! (it's also very compact and easy to throw into your carry-on or laptop bag)

The appeal of this was the fact that, with my house size, I need a mobile repeater, as I didn't want to buy 2-3 repeaters to cover the whole house. Added to this, I thought the unit would be great rather than trying to plug my computer into the one CAT5 port and having that be it.It is pretty sleek looking and the perpherals I found worked better wither the power adapter.Basically, unless you're in the exact circustances this is deesigned for (a mobile 3G modem and so many devices you can just use the modem itself) I don't think its really useful. The modem should be able to pipe straight to this and have it use that signal, but if it can do that, it hides the function very well.

I purchased the TP Link TL-MR3020 wireless router thinking it would work as a router for my smartphone. I was very wrong but not until I attempted to connect it to my smartphone and spend an hour on the phone with customer support. The device itself is very compact and I suppose if you needed a small router due to space concerns it would be an okay choice. No way could I imagine wanting this over a conventional router that had USB ports and a stronger signal.

I configured this as kind of an extension as our wireless signal strength in the master bedroom was a bit too weak to stream movies etc. Connected to the network via a wall port (our house was pre-wired cat 5 when built) and plugged the DVD player into the router and voila!..a solid connection to the network that's stronger than wireless. The footprint of the router is very small so it was easy to place it out of view behind the DVD player. My only complaint (a minor one) is the color. White makes this device stand out a bit when I'd rather it just blend into the background. Other than that however, this is a very solid and reliable device.

My first impressions of this little "pocket" router are good ones. For my use, so far, the setup was almost plug and play (I was testing it as a repeater and a Ethernet to wireless hotspot). The instructions for various use and configuration are easy to follow and I had no fail points. I have not had the opportunity to test it for 3G/4G use, but have some ideas that I would like to test with it. I wonder if I can use the 4G connection from my phone to turn this little device into a WiFi broadcast and plan to explore those ideas with further testing. I find this is a very solid device and easy to use.

If you spend a lot of time in motel rooms, this is the perfect device to have if the motel doesn't have Wifi, you know, they've only got an ethernet connection and you want to use your laptop in bed. I'm on the road a lot and greanted most motels, even the cheap ones, have Wifi that doens't depend on an ethernet connection, but every now and then they don't and that's where this little wonder shines.

This is a great little router that is far more flexible than the description implies. This can be used as a 3G hotspot, a Wifi repeater, a wireless access point or a Wifi adapter for a device that does not have Wifi connectivity. It's powered by a USB and comes with an adapter but you can plug it into your laptop to get power. I found it was not compatible to my Novitel 2200 (Truconnect) 3G hotpot USB port but that didn't matter. I configured it as a Wifi adapter and now I have a wired ethernet port on my Turconnect 3G.The documentation is great but I was unable to use the quick start installation. I called Tech Support, got right through, and the gal took me right to the issue.It's tiny, comes with auniversal USB wart, a short RJ45 cable and a USB cable with 2 standard USB plugs so you can connect and power at the same time.I'm going to buy another.

This is a great little router. It's footprint is very small, so it doesn't take much to toss into a laptop bag. Setup was relatively easy, although the little barcode label containing the password on the back of the unit was very difficult to read without reading glasses. It has a very robust signal. One real benefit of the unit is it can run on AC power or by USB connected to the laptop. It doesn't have the same level of customization as a traditional router, but for travel purposes, you wouldn't need all of the controls necessary at home or at work.

Yes, I said ADORABLE. It is tiny and good looking in a way you don't see with routers at all. I'm sure many out there don't care but there's nothing wrong with having something cute associated with your computer. I tested this out on 2 laptops and my bigger dell and it worked perfectly. We took it to Virginia where I wasn't sure of an internet connection. We tried it in our hotel and within minutes were hooked up. I used it with a Toshiba notebook. I'm giving it to my son for his dorm, travels and I'm sure he'll use it a lot. I may even buy some as gifts for graduates in June.

Lightweight and easy to use, it delivers as promised and makes it easier for others to plug into simultaneously. Easy to pack into a suitcase. My only warning is to make sure you don't drop it. It is made of a very light plastic (which is helpful if packing for a plane trip), but will break easily. I was able to repair a small chip with super glue and it continues to work fine. In our household this may not last long since things are often dropped and stepped on. However, I will enjoy it until I find something similar made of a much tougher material.

I bought this not to use it as a router.The unit can be flashed with OpenWRT and become a mini linux embedded device.Since it takes power from USB (5v DC) it's easy to power it with alternative sources.It also has an onboard USB host which I attached a passive USB hub and could sustain a webcam, a USB drive and a USB to serial adapter.My project was using this a Wifi capable "brain" to control a Roomba robot through serial interface.For it's price it's a great toy. Though I cannot comment on using it as a router, it's indeed a little jewel for hobbyists.The on board memory is really small. If you run openWrt on it you'll most likely need to add USB storage for anything more than basic routing.Thumb up!

First and foremost, Amazon shipped fast, arrived on time, undamaged, good job Amazon. As others have said, its a small dimunitive setup and feels and looks rather cheap. But she performs great when hooked up to your network. My plan is to install Piratebox on this badboy and share with other users (legally) public domain books. Ill report back with my results, but this router is known to work good with it. If your into tinkering with a Linux system, definitely get this router. If your looking for a simple small router to just use on your home network, this will work fine as well.

At first I was scared when I took it out of the box and looked at the different modes you could use it for. I plugged it up into the wall, went into my computer's network sharing and it was there. Then I just adjusted my sharing settings and I was done. My purpose for this was strictly to have a secure wifi connection between my laptop and my equipment. I didn't need to have internet access. I've worked all day with no interruption in my connection. I'm very glad I bought this and at such a good price.

When I'm at hotels with only wired connections, this is my life-saver. I just connect this to the Ethernet and then have it share the internet connection with my iPad and iPhone. The setup was minimal and it works like a charm.It's also small, easy, well-built, and a great price point.Highly recommended!

If you often need to create your own hotspot for Internet access when a wired port is available (such as in conference rooms, hotel rooms and more) this little device will work wonders. It can also be sufficient as the only wireless router you use in a small apartment. Great deal for the price.

It is a small wifi router. Yes we know. Other than that it's easy to use. Strong signal is usable in a few rooms over. I'm not sure why most reviewers are complaining about setting it up. You plug it in, Find the IP address and make your changes to the name/wpa keys. Took me 3 mins. You honestly don't need to read the manual. Small, Light, Portable and Easy to use!I haven't used the 3g port so i can't comment on that.

The TP-Link Wireless Portable router is pocket size but thats the only perk. The connection is weak and the setup is difficult. Tech-support was great and I am glad they were because it took them walking me through the entire setup process to get the router working. Still once the setup was done the connection was not guaranteed. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I am not a computer programmer, but not technology challenged either.

This little portable router worked perfectly, with the setup minimal. Only thing missing was a case or pouch to carry it.I went to Las Vegas recently with my Nexus 7 tablet, which does not have a wired ethernet port. I also assumed that some of the hotels in Vegas still had wired internet connections in their rooms. My stay was at the Monte Carlo, which only has the wired connection in the room. So I plugged cable into this router in the Access Point mode, which in turn sends out wi-fi signals that my Nexus7 picked up. A couple of tabs on the Nexus7 to accept the hotels terms, etc. and I had internet access. I was able to check my emails, etc. in my room. Since the hotel charges you a daily fee which includes Internet access, might as well put it to good use.So this TP-Link router worked as advertised. Plug in the required cables, setup was almost automatic, and instant wi-fi connection to the Internet. The price was great too.

One of the worst products that I have purchased on Amazon.I followed the instructions given to the letter but nothing worked, then I called the customer support and they told me a totally different story. As per them we do not need to start using the wifi connection until the router is configured using a wired connection.This is no where mentioned in the instructions that came with the product.Anyways I followed all of the additional instructions given over the phone but the router's admin page does not show up at all.I will not recommend this product to anyone and am returning mine.

Received this router about a week ago, and I'm pretty impressed with how this little box performs. When I first opened it up, I was pretty skeptical about the cheap feeling plastic, and seeming weightlessness of it. However, I loaded up OpenWRT on it, as many others have stated here, and it works great. It's really low power, being able to run off a single USB port. I've had no problems with this router whatsoever. Which is far more impressive than a fancier Buffalo router I purchased a while back.I'd definitely recommend the router for someone who needs something small and portable, or for something like a Piratebox.

I was looking for something small but with good wifi signal strenght.This is not the router to do that.The signal is very week and though it is possible to make many configurations, it is hard to make it work properly, it always loses the connection.

Bought this for a trip to China and it worked wonderfully in the hotels as my own personal hotspot. Looked at a few others that were smaller, but I liked the idea of sharing the 3g from my laptop (though I have not tried that yet). Easy set-up with the WPS button.

I needed a router to run OpenWrt software on and was really concerned that I would brick the router in the process of flashing it. Unfortunately, my first router came bricked already -- at least I thought so. I may have not been able to telnet to the device because I misunderstood how the device worked at first, but it doesn't matter: I sent the product back and got the next one, which worked perfectly, within days.I mainly use this router in WISP (wireless internet service provider) mode, and it works great for that, emitting a signal stronger than my home router will ever emit. In AP mode the device works well, but configuration is more intuitive for AP mode with the firmware. Unless you are an OpenWrt/Linux guru, I don't suggest flashing the device if you intend to use it in AP mode.I love this product, but was must impressed with the service. That I could return the faulty product and get it replaced in a matter of days is incredible.

I've used this twice on trips to share a wifi connection. I'm using it with OpenWRT and haven't had any problems whatsoever. At this price point, I am thinking about keeping one in several different locations that I frequent.

Great product that works like it supposed to. You just hook up your 4g data card and it lets you share your wi-fi. You can share with a laptop or cell phone. Even share with a friend. If you have a data card with a carrier I would definetly get this and use to expand your network.

Configuration was easy, almost intuitive. Printed instructions were crystal clear. Testing out the 24/7 support line, the technician sounded Tai but easy to understand. I think this is the perfect fit.

Product realy well designedWISP function + 3G + AP a smart combination. Makes the device alsome.Looks like Apple productRealy ease to configure.No problems using abroad. I'm using it in Brazil (with a brazilian company - VIVO). I just plugged the modem and the internet became wireless!Recomend!

This device is simple to use and easy to set up. That this device is cheap is a nice bonus. This is not as good as a top of the line Netgear router, but then it costs a lot less too. Okay option.

I used this on my travel to London, its a great little router. You can configure it as a repeater for the wifi signal or plug it into the wall and make it an access point. Setup is real easy and quick.

When I first ordered this I thought I was getting another router-I was wrong! I often use my iPhone and iPad as hotspots and this little beauty has come in handy. Just one warning: watch out for your usage or you may find yourself using too much data!

My hotel offered both wired and wireless Internet. However, the wireless signal was abysmal. So, having this baby with me to try out, I hooked it right to the wired connection and voila! I had a great signal and speeds of about 8 down and 1.5 up with a ping of 73. Pretty good for a hotel Internet self-wireless setup.
