Had this CD player for about 3 months now and its working flawlessly. It plays all the copied CDs I have, which some other players would not. I had some bad luck with other Teac products in the past: i.e. a cassette player and a four-track portastudio whose rubber belts and wheels dissolved into a black goop after a few years! The player does everything it should. It would have been nice to have the shuffle mode shuffle through all five discs instead of only one-at-a-time.

I'm very pleased with this purchase. I looked all over for a CD changer that plays MP3's. I really couldn't find any or they weren't in my price range. This was a great price and a great player ! I haven't had any problems with it and i'm super happy !

Bought mine new here at Amazon. It worked initially but within a few months it stopped working. It simply wouldn't play. I had to throw it out. It's easy to fall for the MP3 versatility compared to one without it, but I strongly recommend buying one without MP3 if you want to mainly listen to CD's - or just find another brand.

I purchased this player to use at an event where we needed music over many hours, switching often between tracks and discs. I tried the player out at home after receiving it and experienced some very minor issues but decided to use it at the event. Unfortunately the player stopped working correctly quite early in the event. The major problems were the disc tray not opening and the carousel not moving between discs - sometimes it would play one track on a particular disc, other times nothing would play. We scrambled to find another player and managed to make everything work, but it was a major inconvenience and caused a lot of stress at the time.
The good news is that the return and refund with Amazon were easy and handled quickly. Looking again at the other reviews it seems there are perhaps some quality control issues - many units work fine, but a significant number have problems out of the box. If you don't mind taking a chance and/or dealing with exchanges this could be a good player for you at a decent price; I took the chance and lost at an inconvenient time, but the situation was resolved in the end. I won't, however, consider buying this Teac player again.

BEWARE of ORANGE CHIMP, the rascals that took my money for this worthless piece of junk. I've e-mailed them 3 times about the problems I had with this cd changer and those lovely folks have ignore all of them. I sure wish I had read the reviews before I purchased it.
Power button works, disc ejector works and that's it. It won't play the cd's. I, just like one other reviewer, didn't plug it in before the short warranty ran out. That's a mistake I won't make again. Judging from a lot of the other reviews you've got about a 50% chance you will have some significant problems with this thing.
I have a recommendation for Amazon - you really should allow someone to award 0 stars on a product. When something doesn't work it's worthless!!! Period!!!

It was Dead On Arrival. The 5-CD turntable would not turn to load CDs. No CD would play :-(
However, I just love the Amazon return policy. The item was confirmed as DOA and back in the box with return shipping label within an hour.

After considerable shopping to replace my malfunctioning 14 year old disc player it was a pleasant surprize to see the offerings from Amazon. The TEAC 5 disc player suits my needs very nicely with a very fair price - easy installation, and easy to use. Many of our local electonic stores don't even carry these units anymore and those that do have a poor selection that were much more expensive. The young folks like the more advanced high-tech units but as a senior with several hundred discs it's a pleasue to load up my new player and listen to hours of entertainment. A very gratifying, cost efficient purchase.

I'd be wary of this changer. The first one I bought failed mechanically (disk door wouldn't open) after 14 months of fairly frequent use. I rather foolishly (in retrospect) bought an identical model to replace it. This one failed after only 5 months. It plays one disk, but then hangs up and requires restarting to play another. I don't know whether this is a poor product or just chance, but I thought I ought to let people know about it.

After correcting some connection problems, we are very pleased with the performance. The music is clear and it plays both the CD's and MP-3's without any problems. We previously had a high-end CD (CD's only)player and there is no loss in sound quality and this one also plays the MP3's we are adding to our CD collection. To date, we are completely satisfied with our purchase

The first player received would not open the carrousel and the unit had loose items inside it. It was returned. The second unit worked well, for maybe five times. The carrousel would refuse to completely open, then refused to completely close. Unplugging the unit from AC power and plugging it back in seemed to cure this problem each time, but that actually is something I prefer not to have to do. The remote seems to need a bit more attention in the design since some buttons don't work every time. But, audio quality is on par with TEAC. I would not say that product quality, in as much as mechanical design, appearance, or remote control functions, are anywhere close to what I would expect from TEAC. Although it does seem to be an appropriate product coming out of a manufacturing facility located in a chinese prison. I cannot believe that a company such as TEAC would lower its standards to have its products produced by anyone other than their own people. This is the last TEAC product I will ever purchase.

Nice unit. Second one I have purchased. I like the way it plays both CDs and MP3s in one unit and can shuffle the play order. Also a "ticker tape" display of the artist and song title for MP3s is a nice feature.

This product did not work. Period. Unfortunately I did not test it within the ridiculously small return window so I will get almost nothing back on my return. If you still buy this, which I strongly recommend against, test the product immediately and don't wait.

I wanted a 5-disc CD player, plain vanilla, that was reliable and relatively inexpensive. This one fit the bill and has performed as advertised. Shipment was prompt, no problems hooking it up.

I had a Kenwood 5 cd player for 10 years that finally died. I ordered the TEAC as it is one of the few that still had a 5 cd carousel format and was a reasonable price. This unit didn't work well from the getgo. It took forever for the carousel to turn. After 2 weeks it wouldn't play the cd I selected and would constantly default to cd#1. I then had a problem getting it to play after I had turned it on. The only thing it did well was to open and close. Once I got it to play it sounded fine, but it was just a series of frustrations getting this unit to work. I have just returned it for a refund as I couldn't get a replacement on this item. The other options for a 5 CD carousel were either to expensive (JVC)or I read the terrible reviews on Sony so forget that one. I have reordered this unit and hope that the next one I get is better than this one turned out.

Out of the box this unit did not work. Tried old & brand new cd's but this unit would not get past reading the disk & sitting there on track one & not playing. Jumped through a number of hoops to try to get it going, but nada. Tks mucho to Amazon for a relatively painless return.

It arrived as promised and plays as promised. No surprises good or bad.
It replaced another cheap player that I bought two years ago at Circuit City. The cheap player messed up the CDs and they frequently got stuck inside the player. This unit correctly loads and plays the CDs. There are no special features, but all the available features seem to do what they were supposed to do. In short, a good unit at a reasonable price.

We ordered one of these CD players as a Christmas gift to ourselves. The first one arrived and did not work. The CD tray would not spin. We returned it and just received our second one. It does not work either! The tray spins, but there are places where it gets stuck. If you put a CD in spots 1-3, it will find them and play them. But if you put a CD in slot 4 or 5, it doesn't find them. Also, when you hit the disc skip button to proceed to the next disc, sometimes it moves one disc over, sometimes it moves a few discs over, sometimes it starts spinning and spinning and doesn't stop. So, we give up. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with one faulty player, but not with two in a row. There are obviously serious quality control issues with this product.

this is my first cd changer from teac , I should have bought it a long time ago, amaising sound quality , a smooth operation in the changer, in switching of the carousel . I am very happy and pleased of my purchase of this TEAC unit, thank you very much.

To be fair, this item has not gotten a huge workout since I bought it in June but it has done everything it's supposed to do & very nicely. Setup was very easy as far as which wires to plug into the amp & it has played CDs & MP3 disks very nicely. I have not explored the various program options but it serves my purpose well as a way to play my music with our "home theatre" amp & speakers. It IS big - I did measure it before ordering but they don't include the extra half inch you need for the hookups in the back - I had to cut out a large hole in the back of the console for it to fit behind the glass doors. If you have an open setup or a very large, flexible setup for your stereo or HT components, it won't be an issue but if space is a question (esp. from front to back) be sure to allow for this beyond the stated measurements. It was still a good price for a 5 disk changer. Note: no power control on the remote, you must turn it off on the front of the unit. Not an issue for me but may be for some, depending on your use.

Our old Teac 5 Disc CD player stopped working, so I tried using a single disc DVD/CD player. It was such a hassle always having to change the disc when one ended.
I did look at 5 disc DVD/CD players, but the units were bulkier and too deep for my stereo cabinet.
So I was quite pleased to find this TEAC player. We love being able to load 5 discs at a time, hit the "Play" button & just enjoy hours of hassle free music. The fact that it also plays MP3's is a bonus.

This product is great but I wish the manual would say if it is ok to leave in stop mode instead of having to manually turn off at machine. Even better, put on/off on remote. But overall a great machine.
