In general the volume delivered was compareably low. Especially the Walkman was not able to drive my Bowers&Wilkins PX7 headphones in wired mode. Impedance mismatch - Had to send it back.

Encore un très bon baladeur Sony. Plus cher que le NW-A55 à sa sortie, il bénéficie d'Android, et donc du wifi.
On peut ainsi profiter des applications Spotify ou VLC par rapport au NW-A55.

Cependant suite à ce changement d'Os, sur 16go, il restera à peine la moitié au démarrage. Prévoir la carte microSD!

Le processeur n'est pas non plus puissant si vous souhaitiez y mettre des jeux du PlayStore.

Le format est idéal, l'expérience google est largement satisfaisante pour son utilisation (deezer fonctionne bien).
Mais le manque de puissance est rédhibitoire pour ce genre de produit. Impossible d'utiliser des casque hifi même a faible impédance.

Déçu par ce baladeur qui est limité dans le volume sonore avec mes casques audio HI-RES je l'ai donc remplacé par le FIIO M11 est rien avoir.

Let’s get one thing straight. The only reason you will consider this product is for the sound quality. As we all know, any old smartphone can play audio with decent sound quality, and if you want an MP3 player, you can find much cheaper ones. So if you are not after something special in audio quality, look elsewhere.

With that out of the way, here is a look at what Sony has come up with. What you get is a small Android 9.0 device with a 3.6”/9.1cm 1280 × 720 pixel touch display. It also has hardware buttons on the side for basic music player functions: play/pause, volume up/down, skip back and forward, on/off.

On the plus side, the sound quality is superb. I tried it with a couple of high quality earbuds (one Shure, the other a noise-cancelling set from Digital Silence) and was delighted with almost uncanny realism on well recorded material. I am not sure if there is a characteristic Sony sound, but if there is, it is about clarity and imaging and sweet treble. Bass is good but very clean; you might mis-interpret this as being bass-light, but I love being able to follow every instrument in jazz, for example, without the bass bloat that often makes this difficult.

There are also some annoyances. Using Android is great for the ability to install other apps like Spotify but also uses a lot of storage space. As a result, of the 16GB on board, less than 7GB is available for music. If you want to take advantage of things like high-res DSD, you will soon run out of space. Plan to get a large micro-SDHC or micro-SDXC card, you will need it. Luckily you can buy a large capacity card for not much; I fitted a 200GB card. Android also means shorter battery life than with the non-Android Sony players.

Another issue is that there is a built-in noise-cancelling feature, and another for ambient sound, hearing external sounds, but these features only work (according to the docs) with the Sony IER-NW510N earbuds which are neither supplied nor all that easy to find on sale.

Third, there is this remark in the docs. “When using a music application other than ‘Music player’, High-Resolution Audio is down-converted to 48 kHz/16 bit for playback.” This means Sony’s own Music Player. You can argue about whether the difference is audible, but it seems an unnecessary limitation.

Fourth, the maximum volume level is not that high. This could be an issue with inefficient headphones. It is not a problem for me. I used the player on a bus and on a train and it was more than loud enough; I never turned it up over 110 out of a maximum of 120.

With that out of the way, a quick look at the good stuff. This gadget excels at supporting high resolution formats, PCM up to 24-bit/384 kHz and DSD up to 11.2896 MHz (four times SACD resolution). It also supports Meridian’s MQA format. Whether these ultra-high resolution formats are really needed you can debate elsewhere; all I can say is that the high-res files I have sounded wonderful. I tried the player with MQA, double DSD, and DSF sourced from SACD, as well as with 16-bit 44.1 kHz CD quality.

Operation is pretty easy. I simply connected to a PC and copied tracks to the Music folder on the device. Bluetooth with NFC connectivity is supported, including aptX, aptX HD and Sony’s LDAC which claims hi-res 24-bit/96kHz over Bluetooth in optimum conditions, though personally I’m a fan of wired connections with a device of this quality; you get longer battery life that way too. I found the quality over Bluetooth noticeably inferior.

It is also worth noting that device works a bit differently depending on whether you are using the Sony Music Player app or another Android app. Using the Sony app you just get music and you get the best quality as mentioned above. Using any other app, the audio goes through the normal Android sound system using the system volume control and by default including system sounds like taps and notifications. You can turn these off but it is another factor reducing the sound quality if you go this route.

The software is fast and responsive, thanks to 4GB RAM and a 4-core ARM 1.8 GHz chipset.

The supplied leaflets are not much use but there is a “Help guide” icon on the home page which links to a detailed on-line manual.

Can you use this as a USB DAC to get better quality from your PC or Mac? This is a puzzle. Some of Sony’s models support this but not this one, though the feature is referenced in some tables with a blank next to it. Maybe in a future firmware update?

In the end I love this music player, despite the annoyances mentioned above, mainly for the great sound quality. Running Android is also a considerable advantage, letting you sign into public wifi, play videos and use other music apps, even if it is bit less efficient than dedicated firmware. A very enjoyable device.

The biggest changes with Sony's latest range of Hi-Res Walkman models are the standardisation on USB-C connection over the proprietary connector (at last!) and the use of Android as an OS. The most obvious impact of the latter is the amount of storage capacity lost. Although this is advertised as a 16GB device, 10GB of this is used by the operating system, leaving you with 6.29GB available for music or apps.

Sound
=====
Above all else this is a music player so let's talk about sound quality first. Suffice to say, it's very good but, like a number of Sony products, tries too hard to protect our hearing. By which I mean the maximum volume may be too low depending on what headphones you plug in. Again, this is a Hi-Res player designed for optimal sound so wired headphones should be the primary choice. I tried B&W P5 series 2 and Sennheiser Momentum 2 headphones, both of which are the right level of quality but the player struggled to drive them. Initial volume (88/120) was way too low but as soon as I started increasing it the player issued me with a volume warning! By the time I got to 112 it was a reasonable level, certainly not dangerously loud.

In terms of quality, the player retrieves a lot of detail from recordings and presents it in a very musical way. I would describe the sound as 'lean' though and probably more suited to acoustic and vocal music than rock or orchestral. Instead I linked the excellent WH-1000MX3 wireless headphones over LDAC. What a difference! Those 'phones sound great with most sources but formed an excellent and very enjoyable pair with the NW-A105.

Build/Operation
=============
Build quality is the exemplary and solid standard you would expect from Sony. The screen is high quality and the cassette tape screensaver is a neat touch, especially as the tape is 'labelled' with the current artist/track and the type of tape varies depending on the quality of the source file. Physical control buttons and Hold switch are on the right-hand edge and the USB-C socket is on the base next to the SD card slot. This is - thankfully - still a click-in/click-out slot unlike the flimsy tray used on more expensive models. Given the 6GB of space left for use, you'll need this slot to listen offline.

Whether you like the presence of a full Android OS is a personal choice. Personally I have no need for browsers, email clients and all the other apps far more suited to a phone than a tiny device like this. On the other hand it does mean you can install third party music streaming apps. Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon, Qobuz... any of these can be installed and used over wireless networks. The lower bitrate streams are noticeable in comparison to local CD quality or above files but it's there if you need it. I installed the Harman MusicLife app and streamed Hi-Res files from my NAS box with no issues.

Overall this is a really good little device if only it was able to drive wired headphones better. The sound balance is a tad too lean for my preference but this issue goes away when paired with the WH-1000MX3's own amplification.

nach nun eingängiger Nutzung des Sony NW-A105 Walkman möchte ich Ihnen meine Rezension zur Verfügung stellen.

Da ich sehr gerne MP3-Player / Highres-Player und/oder auch Kopfhörer teste, könnte Ihnen vielleicht die schiere Größe der Rezension sauer aufstoßen. In diesem Fall können Sie gerne auch zum Kurzfazit herunterscrollen….vielleicht reicht Ihnen das ja aus. Ansonsten wünsche ich Ihnen viel Durchhaltevermögen…..

Grundsätzlich sollte man sich im Klaren sein, dass ein Highres-Player im Grunde genommen genau dasselbe macht wie ein herkömmliches Smartphones. Die einen können auch hochauflösende Musik (also 24bit als Beispiel) abspielen, andere wiederum haben damit Schwierigkeiten. Wenn es dann aber mal in den Bereich DSD-Format geht, dann wird ein Smartphone nichts mehr abspielen. In solchen Fällen macht ein Highres-Player durchaus Sinn, sofern man eben auch die Dateien bereits besitzt oder besitzen möchte. Wer dann aber die Musik lediglich über Bluetooth konsumiert, sollte wissen, dass die Übertragungsrate selbst mit LDAC (derzeit die beste Übertragungsrate) nicht an die Qualität eines kabelgebundenen Kopfhörers heranreicht.
Man muss ich auch im Klaren sein, dass die wenigsten von uns dies heraushören werden, denn man sollte durchaus ein geschultes Ohr besitzen, um überhaupt solche Feinheiten herauszuhören. Nicht dass ich das den Menschen absprechen möchte, aber es gibt eben auch den Placebo-Effekt. Man besitzt was Teures und dann bildet man sich auch ein, dass man nun den Mördersound heraushört. Oftmals ist das vermutlich einfach nicht der Fall.

Was ist mein jetziges Equipment?
Ich nutze den Astell & Kern KANN mit einem Beyerdynamic T1 2nd Edition. Weiters habe ich auch den Shanling M0 in Benutzung. Weitere Kopfhörer die ich verstärkt nutze sind beispielsweise der Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd Edition sowie die In-Ears Shure SE846 (kabelgebunden – nicht mit dem schlechten Bluetooth Modul!). Im Bluetooth Bereich nutze ich beispielsweise die erste Generation der Sony MDR-1000X sowie auch die Bose NC700 und diverse andere.
Somit hab ich ein bunt gemischtes Programm, das nicht ganz so günstig war oder ist.

Verpackung/Qualitätsanmutung
Die Verpackung ist einfach gehalten, beinhaltet aber einen sehr sauber verarbeiteten kleinen Walkman aus dem Hause Sony. Generell ist das Display für den Zweck hochauflösend genug. Die Knöpfe haben einen guten Druckpunkt, aber man sollte sich durchaus einprägen, wo welche haptische Taste ist, da die Größen recht identisch sind (bis auf das lauter- bzw. leiser machen).
Insgesamt also von der Optik ein toller Player, nur die Verpackung hinkt da etwas hinterher.

Einrichtung
Wer ein Smartphone mit Android kennt, kann sich die Einrichtung bereits vorstellen, denn sie verhält sich damit identisch. Der Unterschied ist eben der, dass man nicht telefonieren kann….;-)
Um den Player ordentlich nutzen zu können, benötigen Sie ein Googlekonto. Dieses sollten Sie zumindest einrichten, um auch anderweitige Streamingdienste nutzen zu können (Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer, etc.)

Was hat Sony nun endlich begriffen?
-Sie nutzen nun endlich nicht mehr ihr eigenes Betriebssystem sondern Android! Das bietet auf der einen Seite viel mehr Möglichkeiten als man vielleicht benötigt, auf der anderen Seite kann es einen auch erschlagen. Der Vorteil bei den damaligen Sony Walkman war eben der, dass man ein auf die Musik ausgerichtetes System hat.
-Endlich sind sie weg von den eigenen Steckern. Hier gibt es endlich USB-C und das war auch gut so.

Wie ist der Klang?
Grundsätzlich nutze ich einen Player immer neutral, also mit ausgeschaltetem Equalizer, damit die Ausrichtung grundlegend nicht verfälscht wird! Für den Walkman von Sony hab ich dazu die Beyerdynamic T5p bevorzugt, da die T1 mit 600 Ohm dem Walkman nicht gerecht werden. Dies bedeutet, dass der T1 viel zu viel Dampf benötigt, was der Walkman nicht imstande ist zu geben. Wenn Sie also einen hochohmigen Kopfhörer besitzen, so sollten Sie hier abbrechen und weiter schauen. Alternativen gibt es allerhand mit den Marken FiiO, Astell & Kern, Shanling, etc.
Der grundsätzliche Klang mit den T5p oder auch den Shure SE846 ist durchaus präzise und kommt sehr fein rüber. Highres Aufnahmen klingen damit sehr gut und detailliert.

Wie sieht es mit dem Speicher aus?
Bei diesem Walkman hat man einen Slot für eine Micro SD-Karte. Ich hab derzeit SanDisk Ultra mit 200 GB in der Nutzung und bin damit sehr zufrieden. Es werden mutmaßlich auch noch größere Karten gehen, aber dies konnte ich mangels Masse nicht prüfen.

Wie übertrage ich die Musik?
Ich nutze ein MacBook Pro und übermittle die Musik über Drag&Drop über den Finder. Funktioniert ganz gut, allerdings meckert er immer wieder, dass ich nichts eingesteckt habe. Hier würde ich aber eher die Schuld an Apple suchen, denn unter aller Voraussicht läuft das ganze über Windows besser.

Was gibt es zum Akku zu sagen?
Das ist in meinen Augen eine klare Schwäche, denn wenn man den Player im Standby lässt, dann zieht er zumindest mit eingeschaltetem WLAN und Bluetooth enorm Akku. Über Nach hatte ich hier einen Schwund von über 60%, was ich als extrem empfinde.
Generell ist die Abnutzung bei normalen Dateien nicht so hoch wie bei speicherintensiven Highres Dateien.
Die avisierten “bis zu 26 Stunden Audiowiedergabe“ sind natürlich nur theoretisch, da die Bedienung an sich nicht miteinbezogen wurde. Wenn man den Player regelmäßig nutzt, also auch fürs Streaming, dann ist der Wert utopisch.

Kurzfazit:
Der Player macht vieles richtig, Sony macht nun vieles richtig, aber eben nicht alles. Auf der Habenseite sind sicherlich die Kompatibilität mit Android, einem üblichen USB-C Anschluss und allen relevanten Codecs, die man heutzutage benötigt. Negativ ist mir da lediglich der unterdimensionierte Akku aufgefallen. Das der Player wenig Leistung für hochohmige Kopfhörer bietet, kreide ich ihm nicht an, da der Player eher für unterwegs konzipiert wurde. Klar könnte man auch mit dem T1 draußen in der Pampa umherlaufen, aber das macht irgendwie wenig Sinn. Da sollte man eher einen portablen Kopfhörer bzw. niedrigohmigen wählen. Dann macht der Sony Spaß und vor allem hat man einen auf den Musikplayer reduzierten Walkman vorliegen, kann diesen aber auch erweitern, in dem man sämtliche Streamingdienste nutzt, sogar offline (sofern man ein dementsprechendes Premium-Konto dort besitzt).
Dennoch stört mich in der Summe bei dem aufgerufenen Preis die schlechte Akkuleistung und die nicht so ganz große Power. Klar muss man nicht zwingend einen T1 an dem Player anschließen, aber wenn man ihn besitzt, möchte man ihn auch nutzen, denn das ist zweifelsohne ein sehr guter Kopfhörer! Daher vergebe ich gute 4 Sterne. Mehr ist von meiner Seite ausgehend leider nicht drin.

Possédant déjà un baladeur audio Hi-Res j'ai donc pu le comparer à ce Sony NW-A105.
J'ai un modèle de marque Fiio M9 que j'apprécie beaucoup pour ça très bonne gestion des fichiers audio Haute résolution, que ce soit en filaire ou en Bluetooth.
En le comparant au Sony NW-A105 je dois dire que maintenant ma préférence va au Sony.
Déjà l'interface du Sony sur une base Android est très simple à utiliser surtout si vous possédez déjà un Smartphone Android, vous gardez vos habitudes.
La navigation tactile est très fluide et l'ensemble des commandes et icônes très simples.
Le baladeur dispose de base que d'un petit espace de stockage de 16Gb déjà bien rempli par le système d'exploitation. Il vous faudra donc vous munir d'une bonne carte microSD jusqu'à 128Gb pour compléter et avoir un nombre plus conséquent de fichiers audio.
En plus de la lecture des fichiers audio embarqués dans le baladeur vous pouvez vous connecter à vos services de musique en Streaming favori car le baladeur dispose du Bluetooth et du Wifi.
Personnellement j'ai installé Amazon Musique et ça marche très bien
En filaire avec un bon casque la qualité sonore est superbe avec une restitution précise de l'ensemble du spectre et un très bon équilibre entre aigu/medium/basses. La spatialisation est parfaite et l'espace sonore bien présent.
En Bluetooth (avec un casque audio certifié Hi-Res), on sent une très légère différence mais très peu significative. La sonorité reste très bonne et vous profitez au mieux de vos fichiers audio haute résolution.
La liaison Bluetooth se fait très facilement, comme sur un smartphone et encore plus simplement en NFC. Vous pouvez vous éloigner de quelques métrés du baladeur sans perte du signale ni détérioration audio.
Ce genre de baladeurs s'adresse aux puristes, si vous n'avez que des MP3 ou des fichiers encodés et compressés en basse résolution ce n'est pas la peine. Pour pleinement en profiter il faut au moins des fichiers de qualité CD. Et comme tout est lié il vous faut un très bon casque, qu'il soit filaire ou Bluetooth Hi-Res.
L'autonomie varie entre 13 et 20H en fonction du type de fichier que vous écoutez et du mode de liaison filaire ou Bluetooth. Bien sur une utilisation importante du Wifi réduira cette autonomie.
La recharge complète prends environ 5 heures.

Pour les 40ans de l'invention du baladeur, Sony à ajouté un petit gadget bien amusant. Si vous le souhaitez vous pouvez afficher à l'écran durant la lecture une image de cassette audio qui semble en fonctionnement et sur laquelle s'incruste les information d'identifation du morceau musical que vous écoutez.

Comme il tourne sous Android il vous faut un compte Google pour bien en profiter. Une fois l'installation terminé vous pouvez ainsi utiliser vos services Google. Que se soit des recherches sur Internet, la lecture de vos emails, votre agenda, google maps etc...

Per gli utenti MACOSX questo device rischia di essere un incubo: se collegato al MAC, nel trasferire la musica si blocca se un titolo di brano ha un caratte speciale tipo ?-!-*"' ecc., il trasferimento si blocca senza capire perchè, ci ho messo un po', ma ho rischiato di impazzire. Molto meglio se si collega la scheda separatamente (ma poi non carica la musica e si potrebbe bloccare) La batteria dura circa 5/6 ore in BT ma se collegata con line direct ad un ampli dura ancora meno!
Il software android è piuttosto lento e pieno di app inutili e pesanti che riempiono la memoria interna: impossibile cancellarle perchè poi il device non funziona più (eseguire ripristino cond. fabbrica). La app Walkman Sony, lenta da caricare ma veloce in esecuzione, manca scandalosamente della funzione "cerca": bisogna andare nelle impostazioni, cartella e poi fare ricerca, il risultato però è che viene visualizzata la cartella al di fuori della app per ascoltare musica, il risultato della ricerca si puo ascoltare ma solo un brano per volta, per cui del tutto inutile e scomodissimo. Il suono non è gran chè, ma se si tiene sempre attiva la funzione "clear audio" il suono migliora. Buona la connettività e le dimensioni ridotte, ma lo schermo è troppo piccolo - non si legge niente. Se collegato ad una cuffia Sony WH-H800 BT funziona accoppiato al mio IPhone 6S, se mi chiamano la musica si ferma e posso rispondere al telefono sempre in BT. Credo che il prezzo giusto per questo device sia intorno ai 150/180 euro. Posso dire che non mi è piaciuto perchè posseggo un HiBy R6 Pro che è tutta un'altra storia, sia come resa musicale, velocità e praticità software. Se siete interessati, andate sul sito della casa, come ho fatto io anche sotto periodo covid, e ordinatelo da li, ci mette un po' ad arrivare ma lo prendete ad un prezzo giusto (qui su Amazon costa uno sproposito).

Seguivo da un po’ di tempo questo lettore e, dalle recensioni lette o viste, devo purtroppo confermare vari limiti che i tecnici Sony avrebbero dovuto evitare. La prova l’ho effettuata con vari tipi di cuffie, beyerdynamic t51p, koss porta pro, grado sr80, tutte di bassa impedenza. Ebbene confermo il volume troppo basso, anche al massimo livello, soprattutto quando si ascolta musica in streaming ( ho abbonamento Tidal HiFi); se invece si ascoltano file musicali trasferiti su memoria interna o scheda microsd , il volume è decisamente più alto , direi accettabile. Memoria di 16gb insufficiente, la maggior parte già occupata dal sistema Android, ...durata della batteria abbastanza limitata, soprattutto se si attivano tutte le funzioni.
Tra le cose positive l’ottimo sistema operativo ,un buon sound ed è ben fatto, ottimo anche il display. Complimenti ad Amazon e al suo usato ottime condizioni, praticamente nuovo.
Beh a questo punto il motivo per cui ho deciso di renderlo è il problema volume: no, non è possibile mettere in commercio un dispositivo in queste condizioni, posseggo un iPod Classic, un Astell&kern. Ak junior, un iPod touch, un iPod shuffle....bene il Sony perde alla grande il confronto quanto a potenza audio...dirò di più , un così basso volume non fa apprezzare l’ottimo suono di cui questo lettore è dotato.

Premetto che è un ''ottime condizioni''. Non appena l'ho scartato la batteria stava a zero.. completamente scarico, non caricava con caricatori a muro. Non essendo presente in confezione (c'è solo un cavo typeC) mi sono arrangiato da PC e dopo ore di rianimazione la batteria da 0 è passata a 1% 2% e così via. Il dubbio che sia ormai consunta però, permane.
In sè l'audio è OK.. ma non è superiore agli smartphone di punta. E c'è il grande limite che suoni basso anche al massimo del volume.
Gira con Android ma è antipatico il fatto che alcune app Google non siano disinstallabili e la search bar rimane su schermo.
Se si tiene il wifi acceso la batteria scende eccessivamente per un lettore musicale.
Molto bello da maneggiare, ma rispetto ad altri modelli risulta un pò grande e largo.

visti i pro e i contro secondo me ha senso sotto i 200 euri e non ben oltre.

Il Walkman ha una memoria limitatissima, quindi necessita di una sd xc capiente di almeno 32/128 gb. , servirebbe una buona cuffia BT , si consiglia la Sony WH1000XM3B . Riproduce tutti i formati, la scheda sdxc deve essere formattata, se inserita con la musica, non vede i files , questo è un bel problema in quanto il software è alquanto lento. Quindi si consiglia di aggirarlo, inserendo direttamente i files nella cartella "musica" all'interno del Walkman.
La riproduzione non fa gridare al miracolo, ma la qualità è ottima, anche se il costo potrebbe essere leggermente sopra ai 150 euro.

È il primo Sony Walkman che compro e sono rimasto contrariato da alcune scelte fatte dalla casa giapponese. In primis, ma lo avrete già letto ovunque, la batteria e inefficiente e in una giornata con un uso intenso non arriverete a fine giornata senza ricaricarlo prima, in ogni caso và ricaricato ogni giorno. Una ricarica completa richiede almeno cinque ore e mezza con il cavo micro USB type-c in dotazione collegato al PC. L'audio in uscita mi è davvero piaciuto, caldo, senza mai affaticare l'ascolto, anche se mi sarei aspettato un maggiore dinamismo rispetto a uno smartphone visto che stiamo parlando di un dap, ottima la funzione di clear audio che uso spesso e volentieri, dà una sensazione di musica dal vivo escludendo però le elaborazioni che la precedono. L'app che uso per ascoltare la musica e che vi consiglio caldamente di usare su questo nw-a105 è quella preinstallata del walkman. Lo uso tutti i giorni con un paio di Sennheiser IE40 Pro e la resa non è affatto male, può essere una buona accoppiata ma vi consiglio di vedere per un paio di IEM con più soundstage. L'uso di Android può piacere o meno su un dap, porta con sé i suoi pro e contro, le app proprietarie di Sony girano in maniera impeccabile, mentre per il resto non si ha il massimo della fluidità. La visibilità del display e la sua resa è ottima, nonostante le piccole dimensioni, circa 3 pollici, mentre per quanto riguarda la memoria interna (16gb) dovrete munirvi di una micro SD.
