Extra Bass is the name of the game here. There is more than you need really. These are excellent for all genres of music, the bass is rarely overpowering in my opinion, it reaches the lows, it reaches a lot of the highs. Overall just a really high quality set of buds. They are comfortable but the buds stick way out of your ear, which is something to consider. The cords are very nice, thick, they dont get tangled as easily.

for me. This goes beyond my expectation of "extra bass". Sound wise, it is pretty much all bass, very imbalanced. For example the opening song of Roberta Gambarini's Easy to Love CD. She opens, a capella, then a few finger snaps and then the bass accompanies her. But not with these earphones, she barely accompanies the bass, which is boomy and overly loud. Maybe some people would like this - can't imagine why - but this is not anything like the way this sounds on any decent playback system. It simply is not what the musicians, engineers, producer, etc. intended this song to sound like. I just plugged them in, so they are not burned in in the slightest, so I won't comment much beyond that. I did not find the mid range smooth or open, but perhaps burn in would help. Still, for me, boooooooooomy bass is not what music is about. The physical quality of the headphones is great, nicely made, pleasant to use.
I guess, given the number of high reviews that there is an audience for this type of sound. To me, enhanced might mean 3 dBs, something subtle. Trust me, this isn't subtle.

These ear buds sound GREAT. I like my bass and these headphones give me all I need. They are a comfortable fit and stay in place in all of my activities. The sound reproduction is really good. The base is solid, the mids and highs are clean. The flat cable seems to reduce knotting and twisting and the cable is as long as anybody could possibly use. I give them 5 Stars...

Although I haven't had any other brands of earbuds, these reproduce really incredible sound. I've had other Sony earbuds and I decided to to try out other models they make. These have incredible bass and great highs. The only problem is that they are bulky. But, that's is the only problem. You have to have large drivers to in order to recreate the lows these provide. I would recommend these earbuds to anyone wanting quality sound for their music.

I think they sound better than the similair beats earbuds for way less money. I got these for $40 dollars and believe this to be a great purchase. I am a little bit of an audiophile and these certainly deliver. They are just alittle bit bass heavy for some songs but they are advertised as Extra Bass sooo.... Very impressive earbuds even though they look somewhat strange. Fit great and are very comfortable. Would buy again.

They sound ok, was hoping for better sound then the Klipsch s4's that they are replacing. I've spent some time burning them in and they are starting to sound better, but still not up to par with the s4's

This headphone seems bulky, but when wearing it, it's not heavy at all. The best selling point is its bass, however anything else is mildly good.

Don't know what the designers were thinking. I could not wear these no matter how I tried, it hurt my ears to use them. They simply didn't fit well.

I've been through countless, countless both ear and in-ear buds, but, these take the cake. Sony once again pulls through i excellent fashion. These things are great especially at the marked down price $34 from $80.
I recently bought the Monster N-Pulse IEM and they were ok. They looked nice, sounded okay. Nicer than any bud i had at that point but they were very uncomfortable so I took them back after 4 days.
Now I had saw these Sony buds about 2 years ago but they were $80 then. Now that they were under forty dollars I said it's time. Oh once I put they in my ears I realized they were most comfortable IEM I had ever used.
The Sound is beautiful similar to the others in the XB line up. I thought the Monster had bass but, the XB60EX have a better clearer bass. Every things else sounds good as well. One things that I love about the XB series(by the way I have the XB700 and XB1000) is even though they are extra bass headphones that sound nice with other genres that aren't bass heavy like rock.
I almost forgot when you get these you get two sets of bud replacements standard and noise isolating. They come in the standard sizes S,M,L plus a super small and the cable is tangle free.
I would recommend these to anyone one and at this price you can't beat it

At this price it was an amazing buy! I've always been a big Sony cans fan and I love their XB line for those bass heavy tracks I enjoy listening to. These are pretty comfy and come with a large assortment of different sized rubber ear plugs to fit almost any size ear canal. SQ is really good. It's amazing the amount of bass that these deliver and the mids and highs are clean and clear.
I've own many buds and cans; Grado, Senns, Sony, Klipsch etc... and these buds are the nicest I've heard for under $100. In fact these sound nicer than some $100+ sets I've auditioned.
If you like bass & clairity then you should grab a set of these. So worth it.

Great price for what youre getting. I've spent a lot more on inner ear headphones that weren't worth the sound, and didn't hold up. Probably the best inners I've owned to date. Good deep bass. Durable cable, and good fit. Great workout headphones.

Overall I like these headphones. I primarily use them for listening to my MP3 player while motorcycle riding. .They have good sound quality, stay in your ears and the "noise isolation" ear buds work well when listening to music at highway speeds. My only complaint is they stick a little too far from the ear when wearing a helmet. On the one hand the helmet helps hold them in place but sometimes pushes too hard against the ears.

I have been using Sony products for awhile now. I thought that these headphones would be a upgrade but turned out to be a downgrade. I compared these headphones to my Sony Walkman X Series headphones that I have been using for nearly 5 years. Almost everything about the Sony Extra Bass headphone is a downgrade. The materials of the headphones is all plastic and feels like it would break real easy. The plastic earphone housing also makes it feel less premium. The Sony Walkman X Series earphones is made with more premium materials and I could feel and hear the difference from each in-ear headphone. The earphone housing is made out of metal rather than plastic. The sound is clear and loud while the extra bass headphones sound less clear and muffled. The headphones I have been using for nearly 5 years is still in great condition and works like it did the day I got it. The sad part about the extra bass headphones is that the Sony Walkman X Series in-ear headphones has louder and clearer bass while the extra bass in-ear headphones doesn't even come close. What I found even more interesting was that the form factor of the Sony Walkman X series headphones was alot smaller than the Sony Extra Bass headphones and even managed to have noise cancelling capabilities. Unfortunately I don't think that Sony produces the Sony Walkman X series headphones anymore. Otherwise I would have gladly purchased it again. Sony only seems to care about profit now instead of quality products. They just crank out new headphones with inferior quality and sound than its predecessors and selling it for a premium. Until Sony starts thinking straight I can not recommend these headphones. Note that I may have gotten a defective unit.

the comfort is amazing outside noise is almost non existent! The best part is sound is crystal clear bass is amazing even at very loud volume. Worth every penny!
If I had to pick something wrong i would say cord length could be a little longer but it has not been a problem for me!
Do yourself a favor if you like loud deep bass and clear highs then buy this set you will not be disappointed!

These are nice headphones without paying far too much. They are not as heavy laden with bass as I had hoped, but I can cope. The flat cord is nice for tangle related issues and stronger than the usual type. They seem bulky at first but fit nicely in my ears. The sound quality is good. Try them yet-self.

As a mild audiophile, with an abnormally wide hearing range, and someone who loves heavy bass; these things are perfect.
They fit my ear comfortably, the cord has stood up to the punishment I put them through - due to it's more flat design, and the sound great for being in-ear headphones.
I highly recommend them for the price. These are still going strong since I bought them, even though I normally run both high (Bose) and low (Skullcandy) end headphones into the ground in a few months. Whenever these things do finally break, I'm just gonna pick up another pair.

I originally purchased some sennheiser branded earphones costing 90AUD. The sound was okay to good. Not being satisfied with sennheiser brand I tried to find a nice ear phone that was similar to the sony in ear bud bass booster earphones. the MDR-XB60EX model has SUPERB bass. You can hear 1hz bass to 25,000khz with impressive clarity. I'm impressed with these earphones. Don't spend any more money on other expensive earphones. These will more satisfy your need for bass and top end clarity.

I cannot live without these! These literally lasted me 8 months and finally the rubber piece where it says L for left fell off and shows the circuits. They are still usable but wouldn't want to get shocked,so I'm ready to get a new pair :)

These things are great. I use them primarily on my Fuze, but they're great on my 3DS as well. Nice bass enhancements whenever possible. This has a nice gold trim on it, which makes it look extra snazzy. Comes with a bunch of different sized ear buds. It also has noise isolating ear buds, but those are a little too snug for my ear holes, so I improvise by using the regular buds 1 size bigger than the size I normally take. Works almost like the noise isolating buds (snug fitting) but I keep those handy for spares. Also these are Sony, so you know you're getting a great deal, especially when you look at the retail price versus what these are selling for on here. Half price, Sony & all bells & whistles you need... can't beat that great deal. :) Recommended for anybody who wants a full featured high quality set of ear buds at a bargain price... :)

I used these Sony earphones regularly at work at while riding the bus/metro. The bass is solid and tones are clear. A good, inexpensive option for those looking for quality and good bass.
