If you want a very precise and refined sound, you're out of luck. These Sony's don't come through with a "realistic" level of detail; however, they're very fun to listen too, have an impressive sound stage for the price, and actually make rock/anything similar in its instrumentality captivating due to its warmth and added sensitivity for the more subtle and cinematic low end frequencies.
Contrasted against the general experience I get from my KEF speakers, these things really hit the soft spot for their intended purpose: a spaciously warm sound that makes for an easy listen while working, commuting, or even relaxing in bed. Would recommend if you don't mind the lack of mid/high pronunciation.

These were great ear buds for the price. I got them for $35 When I got them, the bass was very boomy and did not blend well with the rest of the sound. After a few hours of white noise burn in, the highs increased a bit(still recessed), the mids got louder, and the bass got less boomy. I listen to mostly dubstep, drumstep, and trance with these.. I occasionally listen to Jpop/rock, classical and jazz music but it sounds like crap on these earbuds because of the bass spike (which is expected for a basshead iem). It doesn't go well because the highs are pretty dull and not sparkly at all. The bass quantity at this price range cannot be beat though. Clarity is good and it is very forgiving of low quality tracks.
Isolation and build quality is great though
Not exactly sure how it compares with the narmoo s1 but these sony xbs aren't anything special.

I picked up these sony earbuds a few months ago and I could not be happier. For the price I paid (about $20) I feel i got great deal. I allowed "burn in time" before I did this review of course!
Build Quality: 10/10 The build quality on these is insane for the price! Plastic build but not cheap at all! Also the flat non-tangle cable is very nice.
Looks: 9/10 Although I don't really care about looks at all, I really like the looks of these things. The gold color is very attractive. The only reason its not a 10/10 is the angled design is kind of strange.
Sound Quality: 10/10 For the price I was shocked at how clean sounding these bad boys are! Rich and deep bass without becoming too muddy at all! the mids are nice and smooth sounding! The highs are very loud and distinct, Slightly too bright for my taste but an EQ can fix that up! I listen to mostly Dubstep and Trap music and these headphones are amazing for any bass heavy music!
To conclude, I would highly suggest these earbuds to anyone that likes bass and listens to any bass-heavy music. If you can grab them for under 50 bucks they are definitely a must! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

When my Bose IE2 broke, I was in doubt of what earphones to buy for my daily walkings. So I've bought these: Klipsch S4, a Sony MDRXB60EX and a Shure SE215.
The Sony XB60EX has a great, balanced sound, especially if you consider its price. It's almost the same quality level of the Shure SE215 and Bose IE2. Bass is ok (lower than Bose). It fits great and it's not very heavy. Built quality looks good. My last Sony lasted many years.
The big issue is the noise the cord does. I cannot walk with it, because the thumping sound is too high.
This is a common problem with all noise isolation phones.
If you tend to use it while sitting then it's the right choice.
My overall notes for sound quality (SQ) / Comfort (C) / Noise Isolation (NI) / "body" noise (BN)
Bose IE2: SQ: 9.2 / C:10 / NI: no / BN: 10 (best)
Shure SE215: 9.1 / C:7 / NI: 8 / BN: 6

The earphones are nicely designed and even come with a small carrying pouch and a clip for the wires to attach it to your shirt. There are lots of size replacements too for the buds.
As for sound, like I said in the title above, the device you are going to use with this needs an equalizer. I currently own an HTC One and it's only audio enhancement is Beats Audio which can't be changed or tuned. The result was bass that needed the phone to be really lound, and unclear highs at any volume. At this point the stock ones my phone came with sound miles better. I'm guessing because it was fine tuned for the Beats Audio, where the stock ones sound super clear and super bassy.
However, I tested it out on my brother's Samsung Galaxy S3, and used it's equalizer settings. This is where I got my money's worth out of the earphones. These earphones truely shined on it. Bass was booming and the high ends were clear. This also simulated the Concert Hall setting on the S3 with great results.
As a warning again don't buy this if your device has no equalizer. The kind of equalizer you need to have are the ones where you could see the individual sliders for each frequency. I don't recommend using it on a device like the HTC One or iPhone. I practically bought this for my brother in the end, he didn't have earphones.

Pretty much in line with my expectations for premium Sony in-ear headphones. My old ones sounded better, especially treble wise, but these will certainly do.

I've been a fan of Sony ear buds for years, owned several pairs. My beloved French Bulldog ate my last pair, so I went shopping here on Amazon for a replacement. The "extra bass" description on these MDRX-60EX drew me in. I like to listen to lots of electronic music (Pretty Lights, RJD2, Deadmau5, etc) so I like to have that bass pronounced.
Out of the shipping container they come well packaged in a rigid plastic box. Inside you find the ear buds, and several sets of rubber ear buds for a custom fit. Like every set of Sony I've own, the ones that came installed from the factory gave me the best fit/comfort. There is a black pull string bag included, however I prefer a hard zipped case which I also got on Amazon for $4.
Sound is great, the highs are not overwhelming, and the "extra bass" is no false advertisement. I'm only about 2 hours into them, so they will more than likely change slightly once fully broken-in.
My cons, the cable and length. For me I use these primary with my MacBook Pro so the cable length is perfect. However if you were using them with your iPod/iPhone in your pocket you might find the cord is too short. The cable itself doesn't not have a smooth finish, but I can live with that. The only other complaint is the large size and gold color. These are not incognito, people will notice the huge gold bits hanging from your ears. With that said they might be the most comfortable Sony ear buds to date. The size does not translate into heavy weight or fatigue at all.
Highly recommended, I would purchase again and recommend to a friend.

I've had these headphones for a few months now. I'm a college student, so I can't afford ridiculously expensive headphones. I bought these as a step up from the $20 headphones I'd been using prior to these. Out of the box the sound was good. I'd expected them to get better with some use, which for the most part they did. However, after only a few months now, the left earbud rattles at times and the sound is subpar, almost as if it will stop working sometime soon. I take very good care of my headphones. I'd had my last pair for over a year and only bought these because I wanted something that was noise-isolating. Yes, they are good for the price, but I expected a little more in terms of quality. I'd recommend them with a warning that they may not last too long.

The headphones sound great. The bass is very deep without sacrificing treble. The noise cancellation is very good as well. Be carefully, though...if someone is trying to get your attention while wearing these, they will need to tap on your shoulder or jump up and down in some wild manner or they will be unsuccessful. You will not hear them if they are screaming for you. I would say these are very nice headphones for the price, but they are very regardless of the prices. I highly recommend!

I purchased these headphones since they are supposed replacement for the Sony MDR-XB40EX that I currently have and Sony MDR-XB41EX that came after. These headphones do sound great and look cool, they are nice and clear sounding and come with even smaller buds than the earlier version that I own. You will enjoy a nice rich low frequencies. However, they do not come close to producing the low frequency sound of the Sony MDR-XB40EX. With the Sony MDR-XB40EX you could actually feel the bass down to your upper body without having to pump up the volume. So, I was a little disappointed since I purchased this as a supposed upgrade where I could pass on the older version. I immediately after spending time comparing the sound between the old and the new, I decided to pass on the Sony MDRXB60EX instead. I listen to my music from a Cowon D2 music player that sounds crystal clear with excellent frequency controls. If my older Sony headphones were no longer working I would have been happy with these. They are excellent for the price and clearly are better at producing low frequencies than more expensive headphones that I have used in the past.

The bass is pretty damn good, its like having a subwoofer in the the middle of your head. However, that does not come at cost of overall sound quality. Mids/vocals sounds great, highs are very good, but not stellar (and are not going to be anywhere for $35).
I listen to a lot of different genres, Prog rock, electronic, hip hop, etc., and these buds sound great with them all.
The real reason I bought these is that I have a few coworkers that blab all day, and it is very distracting. From what I have heard, active noise cancellation is helpful for low frequency droning, like on a jet, but not great for blocking out human voices. These are noise isolating, meaning basically an earplug. Works really well, and the bass drowns out anything anyway.
Best part for me is that it comes with 4 sizes of standard earbuds, and three of sound isolating. My left ear canal is smaller than the right, so I have a small on the left, and a medium on the right. Works perfectly.

I've always liked Sony buds for their frequency response. These are best so far. Great bass. I'm not crazy about gold, but at the time it was what was available.

Before purchasing these I had previous good experiences with Sony's XBA and EX series (XBA-1, XBA-3, EX-210, and EX-85) but never wanted to try any because of their claim of EXTRA BASS (XB series). But curiosity got the better of me after auditioning my friend's set (he has these as well as the higher model XB90).
These iems put an emphasis on the mids and bass with rolled off highs. But what makes them stand out is the sub bass which only comes out when the source material contains it, there is no bass bloat that leaks into the mids like many lower end iems out there. From the images I saw online I thought they were ugly but when they are actually in your ears they look pretty good (imo). The build quality is good and I don't see these breaking any time soon. But due to their construction they feel a little weighty when you wear them (you get used to it).
I used these mainly with a Cowon S9, Sansa Clip+, and an LG Optimus phone.

Extra Bass is the name of the game here. There is more than you need really. These are excellent for all genres of music, the bass is rarely overpowering in my opinion, it reaches the lows, it reaches a lot of the highs. Overall just a really high quality set of buds. They are comfortable but the buds stick way out of your ear, which is something to consider. The cords are very nice, thick, they dont get tangled as easily.

for me. This goes beyond my expectation of "extra bass". Sound wise, it is pretty much all bass, very imbalanced. For example the opening song of Roberta Gambarini's Easy to Love CD. She opens, a capella, then a few finger snaps and then the bass accompanies her. But not with these earphones, she barely accompanies the bass, which is boomy and overly loud. Maybe some people would like this - can't imagine why - but this is not anything like the way this sounds on any decent playback system. It simply is not what the musicians, engineers, producer, etc. intended this song to sound like. I just plugged them in, so they are not burned in in the slightest, so I won't comment much beyond that. I did not find the mid range smooth or open, but perhaps burn in would help. Still, for me, boooooooooomy bass is not what music is about. The physical quality of the headphones is great, nicely made, pleasant to use.
I guess, given the number of high reviews that there is an audience for this type of sound. To me, enhanced might mean 3 dBs, something subtle. Trust me, this isn't subtle.

These ear buds sound GREAT. I like my bass and these headphones give me all I need. They are a comfortable fit and stay in place in all of my activities. The sound reproduction is really good. The base is solid, the mids and highs are clean. The flat cable seems to reduce knotting and twisting and the cable is as long as anybody could possibly use. I give them 5 Stars...

Although I haven't had any other brands of earbuds, these reproduce really incredible sound. I've had other Sony earbuds and I decided to to try out other models they make. These have incredible bass and great highs. The only problem is that they are bulky. But, that's is the only problem. You have to have large drivers to in order to recreate the lows these provide. I would recommend these earbuds to anyone wanting quality sound for their music.

I think they sound better than the similair beats earbuds for way less money. I got these for $40 dollars and believe this to be a great purchase. I am a little bit of an audiophile and these certainly deliver. They are just alittle bit bass heavy for some songs but they are advertised as Extra Bass sooo.... Very impressive earbuds even though they look somewhat strange. Fit great and are very comfortable. Would buy again.

I've been through countless, countless both ear and in-ear buds, but, these take the cake. Sony once again pulls through i excellent fashion. These things are great especially at the marked down price $34 from $80.
I recently bought the Monster N-Pulse IEM and they were ok. They looked nice, sounded okay. Nicer than any bud i had at that point but they were very uncomfortable so I took them back after 4 days.
Now I had saw these Sony buds about 2 years ago but they were $80 then. Now that they were under forty dollars I said it's time. Oh once I put they in my ears I realized they were most comfortable IEM I had ever used.
The Sound is beautiful similar to the others in the XB line up. I thought the Monster had bass but, the XB60EX have a better clearer bass. Every things else sounds good as well. One things that I love about the XB series(by the way I have the XB700 and XB1000) is even though they are extra bass headphones that sound nice with other genres that aren't bass heavy like rock.
I almost forgot when you get these you get two sets of bud replacements standard and noise isolating. They come in the standard sizes S,M,L plus a super small and the cable is tangle free.
I would recommend these to anyone one and at this price you can't beat it

At this price it was an amazing buy! I've always been a big Sony cans fan and I love their XB line for those bass heavy tracks I enjoy listening to. These are pretty comfy and come with a large assortment of different sized rubber ear plugs to fit almost any size ear canal. SQ is really good. It's amazing the amount of bass that these deliver and the mids and highs are clean and clear.
I've own many buds and cans; Grado, Senns, Sony, Klipsch etc... and these buds are the nicest I've heard for under $100. In fact these sound nicer than some $100+ sets I've auditioned.
If you like bass & clairity then you should grab a set of these. So worth it.
I've own many buds and cans; Grado, Senns, Sony, Klipsch etc... and these buds are the nicest I've heard for under $100. In fact these sound nicer than some $100+ sets I've auditioned.
If you like bass & clairity then you should grab a set of these. So worth it.

Great price for what youre getting. I've spent a lot more on inner ear headphones that weren't worth the sound, and didn't hold up. Probably the best inners I've owned to date. Good deep bass. Durable cable, and good fit. Great workout headphones.

Overall I like these headphones. I primarily use them for listening to my MP3 player while motorcycle riding. .They have good sound quality, stay in your ears and the "noise isolation" ear buds work well when listening to music at highway speeds. My only complaint is they stick a little too far from the ear when wearing a helmet. On the one hand the helmet helps hold them in place but sometimes pushes too hard against the ears.

I have been using Sony products for awhile now. I thought that these headphones would be a upgrade but turned out to be a downgrade. I compared these headphones to my Sony Walkman X Series headphones that I have been using for nearly 5 years. Almost everything about the Sony Extra Bass headphone is a downgrade. The materials of the headphones is all plastic and feels like it would break real easy. The plastic earphone housing also makes it feel less premium. The Sony Walkman X Series earphones is made with more premium materials and I could feel and hear the difference from each in-ear headphone. The earphone housing is made out of metal rather than plastic. The sound is clear and loud while the extra bass headphones sound less clear and muffled. The headphones I have been using for nearly 5 years is still in great condition and works like it did the day I got it. The sad part about the extra bass headphones is that the Sony Walkman X Series in-ear headphones has louder and clearer bass while the extra bass in-ear headphones doesn't even come close. What I found even more interesting was that the form factor of the Sony Walkman X series headphones was alot smaller than the Sony Extra Bass headphones and even managed to have noise cancelling capabilities. Unfortunately I don't think that Sony produces the Sony Walkman X series headphones anymore. Otherwise I would have gladly purchased it again. Sony only seems to care about profit now instead of quality products. They just crank out new headphones with inferior quality and sound than its predecessors and selling it for a premium. Until Sony starts thinking straight I can not recommend these headphones. Note that I may have gotten a defective unit.

the comfort is amazing outside noise is almost non existent! The best part is sound is crystal clear bass is amazing even at very loud volume. Worth every penny!
If I had to pick something wrong i would say cord length could be a little longer but it has not been a problem for me!
Do yourself a favor if you like loud deep bass and clear highs then buy this set you will not be disappointed!

These are nice headphones without paying far too much. They are not as heavy laden with bass as I had hoped, but I can cope. The flat cord is nice for tangle related issues and stronger than the usual type. They seem bulky at first but fit nicely in my ears. The sound quality is good. Try them yet-self.

As a mild audiophile, with an abnormally wide hearing range, and someone who loves heavy bass; these things are perfect.
They fit my ear comfortably, the cord has stood up to the punishment I put them through - due to it's more flat design, and the sound great for being in-ear headphones.
I highly recommend them for the price. These are still going strong since I bought them, even though I normally run both high (Bose) and low (Skullcandy) end headphones into the ground in a few months. Whenever these things do finally break, I'm just gonna pick up another pair.

I originally purchased some sennheiser branded earphones costing 90AUD. The sound was okay to good. Not being satisfied with sennheiser brand I tried to find a nice ear phone that was similar to the sony in ear bud bass booster earphones. the MDR-XB60EX model has SUPERB bass. You can hear 1hz bass to 25,000khz with impressive clarity. I'm impressed with these earphones. Don't spend any more money on other expensive earphones. These will more satisfy your need for bass and top end clarity.

I cannot live without these! These literally lasted me 8 months and finally the rubber piece where it says L for left fell off and shows the circuits. They are still usable but wouldn't want to get shocked,so I'm ready to get a new pair :)

These things are great. I use them primarily on my Fuze, but they're great on my 3DS as well. Nice bass enhancements whenever possible. This has a nice gold trim on it, which makes it look extra snazzy. Comes with a bunch of different sized ear buds. It also has noise isolating ear buds, but those are a little too snug for my ear holes, so I improvise by using the regular buds 1 size bigger than the size I normally take. Works almost like the noise isolating buds (snug fitting) but I keep those handy for spares. Also these are Sony, so you know you're getting a great deal, especially when you look at the retail price versus what these are selling for on here. Half price, Sony & all bells & whistles you need... can't beat that great deal. :) Recommended for anybody who wants a full featured high quality set of ear buds at a bargain price... :)

Bought these to go with a Sansa zip-clip and couldn't be happier. The tangle free cord I swear gets tangled more than any other cord I've ever seen, but they sound great and stay in my ears when I run without having to put a head band over them. That's what I was looking for and these work great!

I do not find the bass response as much as other reviewers, unless I push the speakers further into my ears. Maybe it is a matter of fit. But they do the job. I mostly use to listen to the radio while I run or want to listen to internet broadcasts at night. They stick out of your ears a bit, and so it is not always possible to lay one one side on a pillow with both of them in. They are a good value for the price. I think my Nutone ear buds from a few years ago had better base response. I had to stop using them after 3 years when the wire got frayed.

These fit all the criteria I was looking for...good, decent, and NOT over-powering base. Very comfortable on the ears, without having to readjust or constantly fall out. I use them primarily for watching movies, etc. while traveling, and couldn't be happier at the full, overall balance & depth of music without blasting out the dialogue. Great clarity and terrific with blocking outside noise. I was pleasantly surprised at the overall look as some reviews had mentioned they didn't care for the gold, but it's a muted gold, not shinny and I like not only the color but the cord that doesn't get tangled & knotted - yeah! Have used Panasonic & other brands in the past paying more that didn't give the sound & comfort these do. Great quality for a good price - would highly recommend!

I read the good reviews about this ear set and thought it would be great, so I ordered one pair of this ear set even though I already have 2 sets of Yamaha EPH-50BL In-Ear Headphones (Black and White). I was very happy when I received the ear set and quickly tried it on; however, I was very disappointed with the poor sound it gave. I tried my Yamaha pair on and what I could tell, the sound was totally different. My Yamaha sets give wonderful sound of Bass and Treble while this Sony set doesn't have any treble but awful bass that gave me headache, so I had to return it. This ear set is much worse than the first Sony ear set that I bought from Amazon, Sony MDR-EX300/BLK Vertical In-the-Ear Style EX Style Headphones (Black), which gave much better sound than this ear set.
For those who gave this set 5 stars, I am sure that you haven't tried Yamaha EPH-50BL In-Ear Headphones. You should try this Yamaha set, and you will say "wow" and will wonder how you could give this Sony set 5 stars. The full price of Yamaha set is $99.95, but I got them for very good price. Extra bass is really confortable, you can feel it, without sacrificing the mid and highs, which can reach a really high peak without distorting with instruments like piano or even violin, amazing earbuds.
Con? Come on, how you fit a 13.5mm drivers? XD So they are a little bit big, but not that much and it is not something really bothering, you don't even feel them when you wear it...

These headphones sound unbelievable! The bass is almost as heavy as a pair of traditional over the ear headphones. They are almost too bass heavy at times though, so make sure you really like your bass.
I was very surprised at how good these cancel out background noise. I used these in my gym theater room where the volume to the movie was very high and I couldn't hear the movie until I changed tracks on my MP3 player.
The cord is designed to not tangle and this feature works well. They still get tangled like any cord but, it's very easy to untangle compared to a traditional earphone cord.
There are only 2 bad things I can say about these: they don't look good because they're big and stick out of your ear and they can slip out of your ear to easily sometimes if you're running or working out.
Overall, for the price I highly recommend.

I bought a pair of the MDRXB30EX at a retail where I was able to listen and compare sound quality. They have the same driver as the MDRXB60EXGLD. They were easily as good as anything up to 100$ or more, sound wise. When I lost those I looked to amazon for a replacement because I knew the quality. The reason I didn't give a higher rating is because the 60 series don't fit my ear as well as the 30 series, I know every ear is different and I'm a 6 foot tall guy..
