light, fast, good image quality!

Works great even underwater. films with excellent quality and also takes photos while shooting, but the quality of these pictures is only good during the day. recommend buying.

Terrible camera, gorilla glass in the front creates glares in pictures and all kinds of problems, since it messes up lighting, stay away from it, DSC-TX10 takes much better pictures.

The camera takes great pictures and is quite easy to use - just like a cell phone camera.

BUT..... one would think for an underwater camera, that the controls could be used while... UNDERWATER? Nope! The touchscreen is completely functionless while wet, nt registering any capacitive finger presses or pressure.

This was just what I was looking for! The manual says that it is water proof but i do not think I will take it when I am diving.

I just took delivery of the Sony TX200v and have played with it for the past several hours. Before I get into specifics, I will tell you that it is going back to Amazon for the following reasons:

- While pretty to look at, I don't see the glass front surviving very long. Not only with scratches, but I fear even a short distance drop will doom the glass.
- At $500, I expected better performance and more features.
- Build quality is lacking. I can physically press on the front and see the camera flex on itself. Additionally, the battery door is cheap, and I don't see it
keeping water out at any depth.
- Indoor photos leave much to be desired. Too much "softening" which results in poor sharpness.
- Micro SD card.... Really? I damn near lost the card trying to put it into the camera.
- Battery life with videos is terrible (within 10 minutes the battery was at 1/2 charge). This was with a fully charged, previously used Sony N type battery.

That being said, this camera has the best video of any point and shoot I have ever owned/tried. At max resolution the images are super crisp with no stuttering on playback, and the image stabilization is also exceptional. With good lighting, this easily replaces a camcorder. However, I found the focus to be slow and incoherent with less than perfect lighting. The camera continuously kept auto-focusing between landscape and macro which got very annoying. Additionally, one minute of recording at the highest level resulted in a file over 100MB.

My reasoning for returning the camera has to do with the awful indoor photos that it took, and the fact that it eats batteries in video mode. If it took decent photos, I might have kept it. But at $499, there is no way to justify its short comings.

Survived a 40' fall from the top of a castle wall in Lisbon and lived to take over 400 more photos. Not waterproof anymore, but still working like a jewel.

If you want a small camera with very nice picture quality then this is it! Please note that it's the same size as the average canon camera without the zoom. It takes very nice pictures and you don't have to do anything tricky. Just point and shoot and the pictures come out great! All the settings are automatic, you don't have to do squat. If you can afford it, buy it, don't waste money on big expensive cameras that will just give you the same picture quality.

This is the highest quality HD point and shoot I've ever had. The best part about it is that it's fully water proof and it doesn't look it at all! Great job Sony!

I own DSLR's, but I bought this camera for vacations because it is small and waterproof. I knew that with such a tiny sensor, the pictures would be noisy, especially in low light. I also knew that it doesn't have any of the pro features like aperture priority. But I am impressed. It does a very good job - better than I expected. I'm a little disappointed in the 3D modes, but then I didn't buy it to do 3D, so no loss. I don't have a 3D TV, so I couldn't test it with that, but I couldn't figure out how to do a decent anaglyph or 2-chip 3D. But like I said, no big loss. Battery life kinda sucks, so I bought a couple of spare batteries.

All in all, I'm happy with the camera.

Had about 9 months now and this is my 3rd waterproof camera. Works well, take great picture, movies are good and sound is good. That's all I want from my cameras beside rugged and small.

I wasn't in the market for a new camera, but when my son received his as a gift I just had to have it. It takes beautiful pictures, the touch screen is very easy to use, and I love the effects menu. I do have a bit of a problem with the flash being a bit too strong and washing out faces, but I am sure that I have to adjust a setting somewhere and haven't figured it out yet. The other reviews have mentioned fingerprint problems on the glass, but they don't seem to affect picture quality or ease of use for me.

I've used this camera both outside and inside and both places I found it worked fine. It is easy to keep in my pocket for it is about the size of a cell phone. It is doing a very good job of everything I need in its automatic setting. I just have to remember to remove my fingers from the left hand front side of the camera for that is where the lens is located. Neat little camera to have and does about what much more heavy cameras with 35MM format would do.

I do not know how many images I can take for I haven't needed to take more than 30 shots at any given time. I do keep a spare battery at the ready in case I need it.

I have not used it in the water as yet so can't say anything about that feature.

I ensured that the battery housing was sealed before it was submerged. Completely dead now. $400 bucks wasted and no pictures of my vacation. Farts.

I love this camera. It takes awesome pictures. I wanted to take a group picture against the setting sun, and the picture came out bright and clear with everyone's faces visible without flash. I have yet to try the waterproof feature, but so far I love it!!

Great specs and features! Love the camera but it NEEDS NEEDS NEEDS a rubber protective case like you can get for a smartphone!!! (Otterbox, can you hear me?) What really sucks is I ordered this camera to take with me in order to journal an epic 2 week motorcross trip across Mongolia and it dropped 2 feet out of an open zipper pocket on my backpack and shattered on the first day there (about 3 days after it arrived) rendering it useless. The good news is that Sony support, after finding that it was unrepairable, offered to replace it at a much reduced cost. I was VERY appreciative of this considering the nearly $500 this phone costs.

Those complaining about video quality are not using fast memory cards. A cheap memory card will not have proper recording at higher resolutions because the camera cannot write fast enough to it.

The picture quality is really good. The battery meter leaves a lot to be desired. It can be at 1 bar, turn it off for 2 seconds and back on and it will be at 3 bars. GPS seems to take forever to lock on. picture capture is great, video is great. Only thing I don't like is that you can't control PS from your computer. You have to do it from the camera itself.

BE AWARE: IF YOUR CAMERA HAS PROBLEMS, SONY WILL NOT SHIP TO A PO BOX. Not a good thing for me. I have a building number and a room number, which can't be shipped to. The only shipping address I have now is a PO Box. They are doing nothing for me. They can't authorize shipment to be held at a FEDEX location and they won't allow me to just get a new one from a local store. Their technical support is essentially useless.

This camera has a lot of nice features but it's unable to take good photos or videos.

If you take a picture with flash, is very likely that you're going to get a blue flare in the upper right corner and white faces.

It's a battery sucker!

Don't waste your money buying this camera, the older models like TX10 or TX20 are way better (and cheaper).

I tried hard to like this camera , sadly it was one great flaw. The smooth face . As you handle the camera , pull it out of the case , or just pick it up, you can not keep your finger prints off the lens or the flash. The camera takes great photos, the gps work fine and let's you know where the photo was taken. All the camera "stuff" is great. The smooth face is a design flaw. If the glass had texture where the lens isn't, is all that's needed. If you have a finger print on the flash, it shows on the photo as flare . I took almost 3000 photos over 20 days and was constantly cleaning the lens opening. I plan on covering the front of the camera with a plastic film , with cut outs for the lens and flash. The design is just a disappoint, I would guess that no one at Sony even tried to use it before starting production. This is my 5 th Sony camera.

The DSC-TX200V takes okay pictures. However, when I was using the camera in southeast asia, the GPS feature only worked 10-20% of the time even though I was taking the pictures outdoor. Sony should disclose the accuracy of its GPS function! If I had known that the GPS function works only occasionally, I would have purchased a less expensive camera.

This camera has great features, motion blurring really good, the picture quality,colors and clearity great! Even when during fast motion or if not enough light.
I'd like longer battery though (2 hours of video only) but its rechargable. And its colletcting fingerprints like crazy!)

Camera takes awesome pictures and at 18.2 pixels the image is sharp when enlarged. A must for the photographer who likes to get some underwater shots!

Great camera takes crisp beautiful pictures!!! so many options you can do with this camera its crazy you can even draw on the camera itself its waterproof makes it a piece of mind if it ever goes into contact with water you'll be fine. video recording on the camera is better than 90% of camcorders I've seen. all the other reviews on this site is just people don't know how to use a camera overall. i would recommend this to anyone who wants the best little thing the price is pretty high, but that's basically Sony saying "you want the best were really gonna make you pay for it". the camera is pretty close to a DSLR. my favorite thing about this camera it litterly takes like a second from power on to shoot!
