Set up was difficult and not well laid out in materials. Saving grace was in camera manual which got me through some of the difficult settings. The ia settings work very well and the quality in bright light is very good. Wished the lcd screen turned inward as I do not use it for framing. Fun camera but tricky at times.

The camera part of this one is very excitting to use on the intelligent Auto function. I havent had so much fun from a camera like this in a while. I have been using Canon POwershot for many reason but my problem was low lighting video recording.However, I still need to figure out the video recording since I am getting linear and pixelating images in a few seconds of recording. It doesnt happpen all the time and so I dont know what is causing it so far.Its a good weight for me since my right hand shakes , I like the floating effect of the video so there is hardly any shakes.

I was gonna buy this camera at Amazon but they raised the price a couple of days after I saw it going fod $429 with accessory kit. I wll suggest they lower their price as I found the camera going for $389 at 42photo.com and when tgey do I will buy it from Amazon.The reason for my 4 star rating is cause I have only been able to use the camera at frys n bestbuy n so far I'm in love with the long zoom.

I currently own the HX200 and LOVE it but wanted more zoom. I was disappointed with the changes made to the HX300. There is no securing strap for the lens cap. I also did not like that you could not have the LCD/finder on at the same time. The picture taking ability seemed equal or better than the 200 but the hassle of the other changes made the use of the camera frustrating for me. Unfortunately I returned this item.

the HX300 has to be the best point and shoot camera on the market. You talk about easy to use, and a great ZOOM wow!! And the steady shot modes, in photo and movie are unreal, smooth, clear shots. The menus are easy to navigate, and learn. I have had many cameras, from Cannon, Nikon, panasonic, etc. this is by far and away, the easiest, and best point and shoot out there. I have purchased many, many Sony products in my years, and I mean MANY, I think they have hit a home run with the HX300......

I was so excited for this camera to become available. I currently shoot with a sony DSLR, but I wanted something to take with me when I didn't want all my lenses. It just came last night so I didn't get to use it much. The tilting ability of the LCD is an awesome feature. Lots of bells and whistles, but it is crazy to see the zoom lens seem to come out of nowhere in this device. I know some of the reviews state that it is heavy, but being used to the sony dslr, this seems to be the perfect weight. I wanted something substantial for control, but not heavy to hold.Absolutely love it!

I bought the camera from Amazon and I bought a VCT-VPR1 Remote Control Tripod from Sony to go with it. I highly recommend that you buy both as it is much easier to focus on distant objects with the remote and take pictures without moving the camera. I have taken great shots of the moon and Jupiter with its moons. I use the camera mostly for birds and scenery shots and I am extremely pleased with all my pictures.
