Hey thanks for reading my mini review on the sigma 16mm f1.4 lens the I bought from amazon UK via their prime service
The lens comes in a simple box with a protective egg type box protecting the lens, it comes with the warranty information and a nice little lens hood and end cap
The lens is significantly bigger and heavier than the 30mm f1.4 but don't forget it's a wide angle lens that is very fast and bright so it's going to be quite large
I use this lens on my a6500 and it fits lovely and although a little heavy and large it doesn't feel out of place in the small body
The lens has auto focus and supports all focus points and focus methods on the Sony system and the focus is fast and snappy with little noise... Is it as fast and quiet as native lenses.... No... However its very good and find me one native Sony 16mm f1.4 lens at 400 pounds that can compete or compare
I use dmf focus... Single shot mode...face focus switched on... Spot metering... Focus peaking switched on... Central focus.... It performs great for the way I shoot and I really can't grumble
The lens optics are top notch and it renders sharp images across the frame, even wide open at f1.4 it is a solid performer and produces great images
The ability to shoot at f1.4 helps keep iso low indoors and when the light gets a little dim which I find very useful
So you have a well built, high performing lens from a reputable company with a great warranty for 400 pounds
If you use this focal length... 24mm on Sony emount.... 32mm on micro four third systems then this lens is a definite purchase and well worth the asking price
Sigma have done some great work recently and they have filled gaps in the emount system that sony didn't care about... I cavy wait to see how their new 60mm f1.4 lens will perform in the near future
It's a 5 star rating from me... Great lens... Competitive price... Sigma deserve some credit for supporting the emount system that Sony seem to have forgotten about

Recently I was on a coach holiday in Scotland, visiting the West Coast, the Moray Firth, and the Trossachs. I had with me the wide angle Sigma 16mm, f/1.4 lens for the Sony e-mount on my Sony A6300. I found this very useful in taking a photo of Glen Coe, as the sun was rising, the valley floor was still very dark, although the sky was very bright. The photo of Glen Coe won me a third place at a photographic competition. Where this lens really came into it's own was when we stopped at the Dochart Falls, in Killin, at 3pm on a very dark, and wet November day. I was able to shoot wide open at f/1.4, and still obtain some respectable images despite the inclement weather. So while a kit lens can be very good, a "fast" prime lens is always useful to have at hand especially if some locations are many miles away, and you may not have another chance to revisit those locations again. This lens is fantastic for landscape, architecture, and group shots, the image quality is fantastic, the build quality is excellent, the lens is a little heavy, but there’s a lot of glass in there!

Das neue Sigma ist echt ein Knaller und jetzt schon mein Lieblingsobjektiv.Schon ab Blende 2,0 superscharf bis an die Ränder,keine Verzeichnungen oder Vignettierungen bei der Sony Alpha 6000.Das Erscheinungsbild ist sehr robust.Die Kombination aus hoher Lichtstärke und Brennweite ist bisher einzigartig im APS-C Sortiment für E-Mount.Den fehlenden Bildstabilisator vermisse ich nicht,da das Objektiv gut in der Hand liegt und knackscharf fokussiert.Klare Kaufempfehlung!

Everything good you’ve already read about this lens is correct. Having such a wide field of view paired with such a fast aperture is a truly unique and wonderful experience.
You can focus on objects so closely that the lens hood is touching it. This, combined with the speed, and therefore shallow depth of field, makes for a really interesting lens.
Obviously it’s also amazing for night photography and low light in general. I’ve attached some pics to demonstrate what I’m taking about.

Very pleased with the purchased the Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN lens- primarily to capture night sky and Northern Lights images. The lens performed very well and connected with all the features on my Sony A6000 camera.

Obwohl Schärfe und Kontrast zunächst wunderbar schienen, musste ich bald feststellen, dass die rechte obere Ecke immer unscharf aus dem Rahmen fiel. Dies konnte ich durch systematisches Testen verifizieren: mein Exemplar war dezentriert.
Außerdem brachte mich die Linse wegen des fehlenden AF-MF-Schalters vorübergehend dazu, alle meine individuell belegten Tasten an der a6300 umzuprogrammieren. Vorher hatte ich back-button-AF-Fokus und Live-view-Zoom auf der rückwärtigen Taste mit dem Kippschalter direkt nebeneinander verfügbar. Letztere Belegung musste ich mit "MF"-Belegung ersetzen, um manuell fokussieren zu können, was nicht erforderlich gewesen wäre, wenn am Objektiv ein AF-MF-Schalter verfügbar wäre. Ohne einen zusätzlichen Knopf zu drücken oder die Kamera gänzlich auf MF umzustellen, tut sich jedenfalls nichts, wenn man den Fokusring des Objektives dreht. Das ist echt bescheuert.
Am Ende fehlte mir trotz Umbelegungen also immernoch die Möglichkeit, manuell zu fokussieren, ohne irgendeinen doofen Knopf zu drücken. Das allein hätte mir fast als Rückgabegrund gereicht, hinzu kahm dann noch die Dezentrierung.
Hatte dann keine Lust mehr auf diese Linse, obwohl ich sie gerne benutzen würde. Mit dem Fujifilm-Equivalent (16mm/1.4) wird man zwar zunächst ärmer aber dauerhaft wäre das sicher die elegantere Lösung.
Fazit: Sigma sollte sich die Kameras, für die es Objektive kontruiert, genauer anschauen. Weniger ist nicht immer mehr und ein MF-Schalter gehört einfach an jedes Objektiv, besonders an ein Focus-by-wire. Dass die Firma darüberhinaus alte Untugenden bei der Qualitätskontrolle wieder aufleben lässt (schelchte Zentrierung - siehe identische Erfahrungen anderer Rezensenten), kratzt erheblich am frischen Lack, den man sich mit der Art-Serie erworben hatte.

Me decanté por este objetivo porque me gusta la fotografía en condiciones escasas de iluminación (de noche o en interiores). La apertura f1.4 es ideal, incluso cuando la luz ambiental escasea da resultados notables sin necesidad de forzar a altos valores de ISO; por otra parte, la nitidez y la calidad constructiva cumplen con las reseñas que se encuentran en internet de esta óptica.
Lo mejor: Luminosidad, nitidez (incluso a plena apertura), viñeteo inapreciable en formato APS-C, autoenfoque rápido, calidad constructiva y precio muy competitivo.
Lo peor: No tiene estabilización óptica, pero no es crítico en esta focal. Es un poco grande y pesado, llega a producir sombra al usar el flash interno de mi cámara (Sony a6000).
Adjunto un par de fotos del cielo nocturno tomadas por mí con este objetivo, los resultados son dignos de una full frame.
Lo mejor: Luminosidad, nitidez (incluso a plena apertura), viñeteo inapreciable en formato APS-C, autoenfoque rápido, calidad constructiva y precio muy competitivo.

Full disclosure: This is my first kit replacement lens so my limited experience is why I'm hesitant to give a 5 star review yet. A few things to note - This is a large and heavy lens to pair with a Sony a6X00 series camera. Its something that I really like about it after a while but depending on your needs or even carry equipment, may not be ideal.
From what I can tell, this lens performs fantastically well. I've been comparing my results with the kit lens (and though you can definitely get some great pics with the kit lens), the biggest upgrades here for me are sharpness (especially at the corners), BOKEH is superb, autofous is actually really snappy for photography and still good for even lowlight video.
If it's in your budget and you're considering this lens, I doubt you'd be disappointed with any real aspect of it provided you are aware of its size and weight. I really wouldn't sweat no OSS at this level of zoom, unless maybe you're a vlogger. I mostly take landscapes and urban landscapes with some portraits now and again. I think this lens is fantastic for this use case.

The first thing you notice about this lens is how sharp image quality is. Colour reproduction is also excellent. I’ve had no issues with manual or auto focus and the build quality it fantastic. It will add bulk to your compact A6xxx camera, but this is a must have prime lens. Perfect for landscapes and semi-macro shots. Also great for street and portrait once you get used to it. Do take into account that this lens does not have built in image stabilisation though, which shouldn’t put you off it, but if you’re using it for video make sure your camera has in-body IS or that you use a gimbal. Click buy now and enjoy the awesome photos this thing takes.

If you're Vlogger or an enthusiast landscape photographer you will love this lens. I also feel it will be widely appreciated if used for wedding or other occassions. Superb lowlight capability . Potraits can be taken but composition requires free or else you will get distortion.

Por el momento mi objetivo favorito, por encima del Sigma/Sony 35mm 1.8 (que también es muy bueno).
Lo uso principalmente para Vídeo y tengo todo lo que necesito dentro del mismo objetivo:
- Gran angular, pero sin ser demasiado amplio ni deformar la imagen.
- Perfecto para Vlogs.
- Perfecto para Timelapses, tanto de paisajes, calle, como del cielo.
- Muy luminoso, genial en interiores.
- Estupendo enfoque y agradable bokeh.
- No hace ruido.
- Al tacto es muy cómodo de manejar.
- A pesar de su tamaño es ligero.
Como contra podría decir que no tiene estabilización, pero no es un problema con un buen estabilizador extra (Zhiyun Crane); y que es un poco grande.
No puedo especificar mucho más porque no soy experto en esto, pero puedo concluir que estoy muy contento con su compra. Lo recomiendo!

Das Objektiv ist womöglich das beste Objektiv, das man sich - jedenfalls für die Sony Alpha 6000 - kaufen kann. Die offene Blende ist wirklich beeindruckend. Mit 9 Lamellen überzeugt es mit einem wunderschönen Bokeh. Jedes Bild wird gestochen scharf.
Ich gehe ohne dieses Objektiv jedenfalls zu keinem Shooting.

Erstmal zur Bildqualität:
Im Allgemeinen ist die Bildqualität des Objekts ausgezeichnet. Es lässt sich ohne Einschränkungen bei Offenblende verwenden. Zur Bildqualität:
Positiv:
- Sehr gute Schärfe
- Gute Korrektur der chromatischen Abberationen, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass es sich hierbei um ein f1.4 Objektiv handelt
- Keinerlei Probleme mit Flares/Ghosting
Neutral:
- Vinettierung ist recht stark, ist aber bei einem Objektiv dieser Art auch zu erwarten.
Negativ:
- Laut Sigma handelt es sich bei der "Contemporary" Serie für Spiegellose Kameras um eine Serie die generell mit der "Art" Serie vergleichbar sein soll. Eine einzige Ausnahme, die auch mit dem 30mm f1.4 geteilt wird ist die Verzerrungskorrektur. Hier wird eine Softwarekorrektur vorausgesetzt was man auch merkt. Bei dem 16mm f1.4 ist die Verzerrung zudem etwas komplex (Wellenförming), was heißt, dass eine vollständige Korrektur mit den gängigen Tools (z.B. Verzerrung-Slider in Lightroom) nicht möglich ist. Dies fällt generell kaum auf, kann aber bei bestimmten Motiven wie Architektur problematisch sein. Für manche Käufer ist es sicherlich empfehlenswert erstmal zu warten bis Korrekturprofile zur Verfügung stehen.
Nicht getestet:
- Komakorrektur. Werde ich nachtragen wenn ich hier mal anständiges Wetter bekomme.
Nun habe ich zwar oben mehr zu den negativen als den positiven Punkten geschrieben, aber ich möchte anmerken, dass es sich hierbei um Meckern auf hohem Niveau handelt. Von der Bildqualität her gehört das Sigma ohne Zweifel zu den besten APS-C Objektiven in diesem Brennweitenbereich und ist kaum mit Alternativen wie dem nativen 16mm f2.8 oder dem 16-70mm f4.0 Vergleichbar.
Und zum Rest:
Das Objektiv ist sehr gut gefertigt. Das Äußere des Gehäuses besteht aus einer Kombination aus Metall und Plastik was für eine angenehme Haptik sorgt. Manuelle Fokussierung ist (für ein by-Wire System) solide, sowohl von der elektronischen Kopplung wie auch von der Mechanik des Fokusrings her. Die größte Schwächen des Objektivs sind für mich die physikalischen Dimensionen. Für ein Objektiv für spiegellose APS-C Kameras ist das Objektiv so klobig und schwer, dass man hier kaum noch Vorteile gegenüber einer DSLR hat. Ich würde auf jeden Fall empfehlen, das Objektiv vor dem Kauf in einem Geschäft auszuprobieren um sicherzustellen, dass man damit keine Probleme hat. Wer hier allerdings dann auch ein Auge zudrücken kann, bekommt hier die Option eines Objektivs mit ausgezeichneter optischer Leistungsfähigkeit bei einem sehr fairen Preis.

Purchased for my Sony a6400, to use primarily for landscapes and architecture. I'd heard very good things about the lens so was keen to try it out.
There's no doubt the build quality is excellent and focus operation is beautifully smooth, but it is a large and relatively heavy lens on the a6400.
I tested the lens against my existing lenses; the little kit lens (Sony 16-50 f3.5-5.6) and also the Sony 18-135 f3.5-5.6, by shooting a series of varied photos (using tripod) and then comparing centre/edge details in each shot. I was hoping to see a clear improvement with the Sigma.
What I found was that, yes the Sigma was sharp and produced lovely colours, but so too were the images from both the Sony lenses. In fact there was absolutely no discernible difference. All my shots were jpegs at f8 (as I normally shoot at this aperture) which does of course flatter most lenses. Wide open results may well have favoured the Sigma, but that is not relevant for my use.
Naturally I returned the Sigma lens.
So my finding suggest if you intend to mostly shoot landscapes and buildings etc with small apertures, you might as well stick with the Sony zoom lens(es). The qualities of this lens are related to bokeh and low light performance.
One of my favourite lenses is my Sigma 150-600 which I use with my Canon EOS77D for wildlife. Just mentioned that to dispel any thoughts that I'm anti-Sigma!
