I needed a replacement for my Macbook and looked at this drive it's pricier hybrid cousin. I decided to purchase this one for half the price and upgrade the RAM with the savings. The HDD works great in my Macbook!

I have owned this hard drive for awhile now and have no complaints with regards to it overall design and functionality. It has been functioning quite well and doesn't seem to have any overheating issues even though this is used in a gaming system. Would recommend.

I always buy Seagate for the reliability and was not disappointed by this one. Most of your cheaper laptops come with lower quality drives and fail quickly. This is a good one to get when you hear the old one start making strange noises.

The drive itself is pretty good. Only complaint is that it is advertised as 320gigs but after installing my computer only recognizes 290gigs. As a clean drive without anything installed, where did 30gigs go?

OEM or barebone drives are those that ship with absolutely no extra parts. No manual. No mounting screws. No cables. Nothing. Just a deeply discounted drive tucked inside a vacuum-packed electro-static discharge bag. The idea with OEM drives is to save some extra cash by not getting all the extras. On average, the savings can range from $20 to $60 per drive.This drive shows up as pictured...and with nothing else. You open the ESD bag, install the drive, and go.Mine installed in minutes into a Thinkpad w700. Drive performance is mid-range. It isn't an SSD but it runs at 7200rpm and has 16MB cache. I purchased two.

We were easily able to install this replacement hard drive after the one in my late 2009 Macbook Pro failed suddenly. We did the installation ourselves with information online to guide us, step by step, and the folks at the Apple Store volunteered to reload the Lion operating system. The new drive has more space than the original, and we have been able to restore most of our lost data from back-ups.

My wife laptop is experiencing some problems which I narrowed to disc failure, bad sectors occurring and so fort. So I suddenly need to replace the disc. The first and best place is Amazon. I ordered on Saturday to be delivered on Tuesday with Prime.Item arrived, well packaged, I am opening it and just before putting to new laptop I noticed that it is incorrect model.I ordered 7200RPM and received 5400RMP model ST9500325AS instead of 423AS, what a bummer.Amazon is not able to replace it as item is under "review" for 7 days ! I can only get full return and now start searching for item again.If I knew I will loose 2 days I will go to best buy and bought this disc already.That second failure (after not working kettle) and I am really disappointed with Amazon supplier.

Fast, quiet, a little warm. I upgraded from a 5400 rpm drive. Battery life is not hindered at all. Overall, I'm happy with it. For the price and performance increase, it is well worth the upgrade. I recommend you watch the 10-minute youtube video showing how to upgrade the macbook pro--you need 2 special tools. In the macbook pro, the cable is taped down to the old drive, so be very, very careful removing it not to break your cable.

I've had this in my computer for about a month to wonderful results. I believe my computer is a 2006 MacBook pro. It took quite a bit of care deconstructing my computer and replacing the hard drive because the hard drive is located underneath the keyboard. Besides this being a total pain in the butt if you've never done it before which I had not, this works totally great. My now my old school computer is running like a champ. It saved me an absolute ton of money and has completely done what I needed it to do. I would recommend anyone try this.

It appears to boot faster than before. Has ample storage for my needs and was very easy to install. I bought it because of the G-shock where my previous drive failed I should not have to worry when I throw my laptop around in the truck.

as i have read, product does not sleep in macbook pro when i tell it to sleep. this is incorrect. my hdd sleeps in both mac and windows operating systems on my macbook pro 13". also does not seem any faster than a standard hdd but if they say its faster then it probably is.

I'm seeing a lot of mixed reviews here, so I just thought I would add my input. I got one of these about a year ago. I got the 500 GB, and came back today to look at the 750GB because I liked it so much. I've loved the drive. Fast, and easy to move my data off the other drive. No problems, no noises. Just works, and works fast!I've did some basic testing, but I forgot the numbers and don't have them anymore. But I had the non-XT version of the drive before and did some comparisons. Even after just the first boot or two, it was faster. Word, Picasa, profile switching, Eclipse, VMWare ... all seem to work faster. It's a pleasure to use this machine that my wife mostly uses now. (I got the company laptop myself)I recommend the drive highly, almost want to buy one for my work machine. It's nice to have the capacity, speed, and low price.Maybe I got lucky or something, but it think it's worth the chance. But as always, be sure to backup your data. I've got tonz of photos on my computer, and I make sure they are backed up to an external drive every now and then. (And I don't clear them off our camera until they are).

I wish I had read through these reviews to look at JUST the 750GB reviews.I had one die on me twice. The first time was after a couple months, and the replacement Seagate sent died within a few weeks. The one star is for the drive, but Amazon gets a bazillion stars for helping me out and replacing it with a different brand.If you get a 750 GB, which I would avoid like the plague, make sure you at least backup your data regularly.

This drive came in the Alienware M11x that I got last summer. When I first got the computer, everything worked fine; I don't really have any comments on it besides that there were no problems. A few weeks less than a year after I got it, my computer started having problems (slow processing, not identifying charger, CHKDISK running every 3-4 weeks.) I guess at that point I should have known to back up my data, but I didn't. Saturday night, the computer was running fine, and when I went to start it up on Sunday, it was dead, with multiple bad sectors. It wouldn't boot in any mode. I was able to slave it to my Inspiron 530 (by borrowing the data cable from the DVD drive; try slaving the drive to another computer before panicking about data loss) and the desktop tries to fix it every time I start up to no avail. I transferred all my important stuff off, and now I'm in the process of trying to see if my desktop can repair the bad sectors, to see if I need to get a new drive or just get a new laptop; I think the processor may be going too though. Two stars because for a failing drive, it worked pretty hard from the time it started acting up to when it died. It pretty much went 1 year good, 3 months acting weird occasionally but otherwise good, dead. There was no progressive degeneration.

Got this 720 GB HDD as an expansion hard drive for my Playstation 3 (fat model) and its been working great (installed for three weeks now.) No compatibility problems with upgrading from 5400 rpm to 7200 rpm. When I run the PS3 for hours I can hear the fan going louder to cool the system, but no overheating problems so far. Completely recommend it if you want a cheap upgrade.

I reluctantly ordered this drive since I have had problems with Seagate GoFlex external drives!! When I got it I cloned the drive in my laptop to it and swapped it in and......VOILA......an amazing improvement in boot speed and overall response time......WOW!! I would highly recommend this drive to anyone wishing to improve laptop performance.......heck, you can even use it in a desktop with an adapter!!GREAT drive and GREAT value!!

I ended up buying 2 of these Seagate 750GB 7200rpm drives to replace the Western Digital 1TB 5200rpm Secondary Drive I had originally upgraded my Dell Studio 1747 XPS Laptop (Western Digital 1 TB Scorpio Blue SATA 3 Gb/s 5200 RPM 8 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Notebook Hard Drive - WD10TPVT) due to the Later drives 12.5mm thickness, even through the 1tb drive worked flawlessly. So I decided to get the two Seagate 750GB 7200rpm drives (Which installed flawlessy since it was the laptop designed 9.5mm thickness) to compensate for taking out the 1tb drive (I could have gotten the Western Digital 750GB equivilent but the RPM speeds were only 5400rpm to the Seagates 7200rpm). Both drives fit perfectly into the laptop comparments and was recognized instantly by the Laptops BIOS.Other than that all I can say is both drives are working great (Along with it fitting in the laptop compartment great) and are a good way to expand the storage on your laptop (At least until the Hard Drives Manufactures can figure out how to make the 1tb and above hard drives that will have the 9.5mm thickness to fit in all Window based Laptops).I would recommend these hard drives for all Laptop upgrade needs who wish to increase thier storage with virtually no Headaches.Computer Specs:Dell Studio 1747 XPS (June 2010 Model)Windows 7 Ultimate SP1(64 Bit)Intel I7 Core 1.6ghz processor8GB DDR3 10666mhz Ram1gb NVidia 880 Video Card750gb (Previously a 120gb)\750gb (Previously a 1tb, removed due to drive thickness issues) Sata Hard DrivesBD-ROM/DVD-CD Burner1920 X 1080 17inch Screen1GB Broadcom Intergrated NICIntel WiFi Wireless CardCreative Sound Blaster CardASUS VH242H 23.6-Inch 1080p Widescreen LCD Monitor (External)

Hello there i bought this serial ata drive for a desktop before you all go WHAT!?!? 2.5inches are for laptops!!! NO theyre not! they are backwords compatible as long as your Case can handle 2.5inch sata drives! which my rosewill could! and i could not get any other 3.5inch drives with the same technology bandwith and RPM's! for anywhere close to that PRICE!!!! great buy and remember the only difference between a desktop sata 3.5inch and a noteboot sata 2.5inch is the SIZE! all the connectors are identical!

I bought this hard drive on July 1, 2011. I'm writing this product review on May 2, 2012. So, it's been 10 months and this HDD still works flawlessly in my PS3. It makes the PS3 system run faster and has shorter load and install times compared to the 80 GB 5400 RPM Seagate HDD my PS3 had originally. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great product! I'm considering buying another for my laptop just for the performance boost (the space is a plus too!).
