Poor screen display, but seems solid
I would like this phone if only i could read the clock/see if i had a message etc when it goes into lock mode, is ok indoors but not outside, its frustrating to have to unlock (press and hold button for some seconds)to get this basic function. Other than that, the samsung program menu takes a little bit of getting used to, but is fine enough. Seems solid for the money. If only someone could make a phone that performs 7 or 8 basic things well like they used 10 years ago!

The thinking person's mobile
If you want to while away hours or show off don't get this. If you want a phone that is functional, durable and a reasonable size you won't find better. I gave up with smart phones because tablets are better and the networks are clever about data. Popped the 3G sim card into this and hey presto- no astronomical data bills and a phone that I am sure will last.
Btw review re 2 pin vs 3 pin plug is nonsense- buy with Amazon Prime and you will get a UK device and plug...

Not covered by Samsung warranty
I bought this phone in Jan 14 on behalf of my partner who is a plumber. The phone met his needs in terms of it being practical and surviving 7 months without having the screen broken. The main gripe he had was the sound quality wasn't great and it wasn't a network issue. However after 7 months it started to charge intermittantly and then stopped altogether. I had a load of hassle returning it to Samsung, when I eventually got that sorted we had a letter back saying we had to contact Amazon because the handset was not under Europan warranty as it was of non European warranty. Amazon were great and provided a full no quibble refund but it has taken 3 weeks to get to this point. Definitely more wary about some of the suppliers of well known brands

an exellent mobile phone
This has to be the best of the "normal" phones!throw away the instruction book!! It has to be the simpliest phone on the planet to navigate..chunky non slip feel, large battery, and a fantastic flash light..hooks up to the computer, and WIN 7 soon found the software and down loaded it, works great as a music player, with great on screen info, titles, etc..only (very minor, complaint) using the, non suplied headphone, 3.5mm adapter cable, I found that the volume on standard headphones was weaker than the supplied ones, maybe they are using a different impeadence?....all in all, a fantastic regular cell phone..

Superfantastic!
Received my new phone this morning, popped in a free sim from O2 and charged it up. Fully charged in less than an hour.
I am seriously loving this phone. It looks like a regular phone but is proofed to military spec-810F, dust/waterproofed to IP 57. So easy to navigate and use a really nice basic phone with good features, camera, light, radio etc. And very cheap too. I will be studying for an MSc in Environmental Forestry in Sept, This will be perfect for wilderness orienteering and general bog-stomping. Not an high-tec fashion phone. This is a Man phone.

good solid phone
Does everything you want it to. The text alerts are very quiet, even though the volume is on full....never know when you get a text unless it is next to you and the room is very quiet. A bit convoluted getting going through the menu's, but generally a good value phone.

Very strong as it says on the packet. Some strange applications however, such as mobile prayer ???
Also I havn't been able to send any pictures yet, maybe something to do with my network but I have used this sim in other phones and it has worked fine.

Robust but not very user friendly
Bought this for my husband thinking that it would be more robust for him as he is an outdoor person and has a habit of breaking phones. It is very good for robustness but he is forever complaining about the actual use of the phone - it seems to be very long winded to do anything like text or call and the software on it seems a bit dated. I think newer versions are probably better.

Solid phone - I can't tell you about all it's qualities as I'm not into gizmos I justed want a good basic phone. This phone is very robust, which is good as it has been dropped a couple of times and still looks in good condition - can't fault it for what I want - one extra that does come in handy is the torch light, really bright surprised how many times I have used that.

I work overseas in some pretty tough places as far as keeping things such as phones in good condition. I wanted two things a rugged and robust phone which was not full of gadgets I never use. Whilst this phone has numerous functions they dont get in the way of using it to call and text. Very simple to use and certainly meets the requirements of rugged and robust. Also nice size that slips into the pocket without even knowing its there.

Nice little phone
Had this for a few weeks now and quite happy with it so far, reception sound and transmission are good, camera could be better but I will be happy if it keeps the water out as it states, the side of the phone has a plastic plug which pushes into the power-head phones socket and I wonder how long it will take before it becomes slack, Samsung could have provided a spare in case it gets lost or worn out. Otherwise great phone for wet outdoors sports.

simple but good product
I needed a quick replacement phone after dropping mine in the washing up!
I have arthritis and find many phones buttons too small. This is basic, simple and functional with decent size buttons and the option of large font.
Cheap and cheerful and good value if you aren't looking for a glamorous phone.

Packs up in the damp
Waterproof to 1m ?? I don't scuba dive, but I carry it around in my camera bag. It is not even directly exposed to the rain. But after an hour or so in the cold and damp, it says "emergency calls only" - It needs drying over the radiator. Take the battery out, (and that required a scapel blade to prise the back off, damaging the case, but nothing else will get in the gap.) take the SIM card out; wipe the battery contacts and the SIM contacts with paper towel; put it back together again. Reset the time and date. And after all that it will finally receive and make calls. It is no more damp proof than the ordinary Samsung I had before it. Admittedly I knobbled that previous phone by spilling wood glue into it, and this one might survive a wash under the tap. But in terms of day to day reliability in the weather it is no better than a cheaper phone. Not recommended for fishermen, mountain rescue crews, or people operating car washes.

Quite good has some down falls but what hassent could be louder no good for Internet but just keeps going if Dr opted or gets damp only problem on mine is that after battery charged it sometimes switch of saying no battery left

unsuitable for use in the uk
I have no probelms with the phone but unfortunately we were sent a phone that was not for use in the u.k.
The instruction booklet was not written in English and the charger was not suitanble for use in the u.k
Amazon offered to replace the phone but this was the second phone that I have ordered and had problems with. I did not return the phone as I have been without a phone for long enough.

this is a great phone for people who work outside
i brought this fone for my husband for xmas as he works on a farm and enjoys sea fishing and as i had already brought him 4 phones that would not work due to the fact that he had dropped them in water last year i thought that it would save a lot of money. it's a smart looking phone and easy to use it dose waht it says on the can no fancy extras i would recomend this phone to anyone that has an outside job or hobby

Bought this for work as I work on a waste water treatment works out in the UK weather had water damage on previous phones have had this phone now for two years it has been dropped into 5 meters of concrete tank submerged in over 1 meter of water is washed every day after work due to the environment best phone for the money only downside is that it is not 3 g so vodaphone use only

So Far So Good.....
This was bought for a family member, who would be quite hard on mobiles. His last phone was a JCB Phone - virtually indestructable... but he managed to break it! So far, this phone is lasting well, and he seems very pleased with it! Fingers crossed it lasts!!

lasted for years great buy
big into rockclimbing needed a phone that would survive in the mountains. It fell off small cliff's (10Metres ish) into the odd stream and kept going. Could get signal in place where other couldn't

Extremely robust
It has survived the normal rough treatment of being dropped onto concrete floors and even being chucked into the bin in fits of temper. It still performs very well. If only masts and signals had advanced in line with the 'phone hardware.

Good battery life and solid build. This is Samsung doing a good rugged phone. The feature set is basic, but more than enough for a device that go anywhere outdoors you care to take it.

I needed another mobile as my smart phone was with vodafone and I couldn't get reception at my new address so I bought this phone with a t-mobile sim. It's fine for basic use and the handset is sturdy but light. Some things like texting and adding contacts aren't as straightforward as with other phones I've had. Very good battery.
