Wer von einem mobilen Telefon nur erwartet, dass er damit telefonieren kann und sich dann freut, dass es sogar möglich ist, damit SMS zu versenden, der ist mit dem Samsung E1100 bestens bedient!
Klein, handlich, kinderleicht zu bedienen, mit einem sehr leistungsstarken Akku ausgestattet, ist es allen zu empfehlen, die ihr Handy weder als Spielzeug noch als Statussymbold nutzen wollen. Also für alle, die schlichtweg nur mobil telefonieren wollen.

Took a while but I killed it - eventually
B2100 - Handy, hardy little gadget, worth every penny as I have enjoyed my time with it. Basic, has its quirks, but with time you get used to them. Ideal for people like myself who work in a variety of environments where hard-wearing is a must. I notice since buying mine a large amount of other contractors have these handsets too.
Big buttons for larger fingers, rubbery keypad isn't too bad at (although text heros will have to slow down just a little), screen is adequate for a phone, sunlight reading can be achieved by playing with the colour schemes, it's easy on the pocket being small and lightweight.
Battery life is fantastic, when working away for the week I didn't pack my charger, didn't need too, gave in and charged it the wednesday of the second week when I first had it, and thats leaving bluetooth on all the time so my headset would connect when I got in the car, making a few calls and using the oh so handy torch.
Was pretty handy at holding a signal too, my nokia would always be telling me that there was no network when I compared them
The mp3 is brill for a spot of music in the shower, sounds quite good. The torch is (in many ways...) brilliant- never realised how much I needed a torch on my phone till I had one. The camera is adequate for the odd snap but you'll be needing a proper camera for the good shots, although underwater photography is ok, and quite fun.
Used it in the rain without a worry, and it still worked like a dream, physical buttons rule.
I even invested in a bury cradle for it, this is an old fashioned plug and socket, direct connection (rather than the bluetooth that used so much now) so it works as expected every-time, but using with a bluetooth car kit or headset also has a high success rate in my experience.
Have used it here in the U.K. and in the U.S. as its quad band, and worked like a charm, with an O2 sim installed logs onto at&t or t-mobile quickly and without drama.
And then there is the drop it in a glass of water and ring it novelty, always raises a smile.
Bad bits: web is not the best, hotmail doesn't perform on it, and even opera mini can't make it totally right.
Sound quality can be a bit muffled in noisy environments, but the noise cancellation was trying its best at this point.
The headphones have to be in to use the radio, which in turn defeats the i.p rating, Samsung, can we not get the antenna made internally?? this would be a great feature!!!!
But the biggest bad point for me is that I mostly killed it, after 18 months of abuse, it didn't like being taken in cold water after cooking in the hot tub which drew moisture in with the temperature change, basically asking over and above the i.p. rating of the case.... bluetooth is dead and the output side of things which would normally only work during a phone call is permanantly on which kills the battery in few hours now, but if asked too will STILL make a phone call, can't ask for more.
So, in summary cheap hardy communications which won't let you down, self inflicted failiures aside, I eventually will be buying another one to replace it as soon as I can find another black one.
Update - bought a red one as the side peices and the bit at the back of the hoop unclip and can be swapped. New one is a B2100i which is worlds apart from the old one, not as basic (which I personally liked) but has a whole new persona which I am currently getting to grips with. will update further with time.
The seller on here I had the new one from turned out to be an offshoot of a company I bought the first B2100 from too, have used them a couple of times before now and only have good feedback for them.

Ein Telefon zum Anrufen und für gelegentlichen SMS-Versand wollte ich kaufen, und ich bin nicht enttäuscht worden.
Die Marke ist mir egal, für Musik habe ich eine Stereoanlage und ins Internet gehe ich am PC. Die Klingeltöne kann man auswählen, es gibt einen Vibrationsalarm, Taschenrechner, Lampe,Sudokuspiel, Stoppuhr und andere Spielereien, die für mich nur Beiwerk sind. Ob spezielle Klingeltöne oder Hintergrundbilder installiert werden können, kann ich nicht sagen. Das Gehäuse ist recht fest geschlossen, aber die SIM-Karte muss ich nicht ständig wechseln und der Akku hält bestimmt auch noch 2 Jahre. Für mich beim Preis von etwa 20 Euro ein gelungener Kauf!

The Border-Collie dog of phones - but you'll be patting it on the 'Ok' button for ever.er!
I'm not a bug of these fancy 'all-in-one-iPhone' type gadgets as I believe in evolution but not "convergence" of mobile gadgets and I thought the whole point of mobile devices was you didn't have to plug them be it to use or to charge on a nightly basis. I go out and get wet riding horses, walking and having a life while commuting to work 3h a day by train to pay for my hobbies. I have an iPod touch to play music on and wake me up when my train is arriving; I have a NetBook with a proper keyboard, 11 inch screen and Dongle to do 3G / Wi-Fi / email at conferences; I have a Nikon D80 & various lenses for 10 to 500mm for taking photographs. To carry all this gear around I have more rucksacks than Thunderbirds have "pods". I am happy; laugh if you want.
I have my B2100 on a SIM Free contract to do SMS and phone calls (and generally be there in the morning to light the way around a strange bedroom) that gets thrown into my magazine pockets of my army trousers at 7.30 on week days and whacked into a least one plane/train/automobile/door/chair/counter once a day.
I never, ever worry about hurting my B2100 it like I do my iPod (which I would have my man-servant carry in padded box should I be able to afford either the box or the servant).
Occasionally the screen of the B2100 (tiny!) gets scratched when a set of keys end up next to it and I'm wearing denim trousers because I think these are 'cool/sexy'. Sometimes - about once a week - I remember to charge the battery of the B2100. It is happy in a glass of lager - I have pictures - but seemingly doesn't want to drink it / use the beer as food. It also doesn't tell jokes well in the pub but the whole in-the-glass-of-beer thing is a cool party trick.
The torch is brilliant (in all senses: bright, low power and seemingly takes no space/weight); the battery life superb at over a week on standby even after 2 years of use. I might buy another battery for about 10 quid - try that with an iPhone!
Generally I love this little gem...apart from:
a) It might be tough on the outside, but inside the UI needs constant reassurance like a scared puppy. Indeed - yes - you did want to do that and I'll pat you on the head [click 'Ok'] almost constantly to reassure it during text messaging.
b) I have never found the quotation mark used in SMSs; either I'm stupid or the phone GUI of the phone is. I've had it 2 years and a PhD in Computational Biology for 8 years so I'll leave the point open to Peer Review.
c) The 'confirm-cancel' sequence in text message mode is very easy to activate with my podgy fingers. Even today (2 years after buying the unit) I still loose 5% of my text messages to this horrid piece of design.
d) I presume it does Bluetooth; never managed to get it to connect to any of my PCs (cf. my 3x Nokia 6310i s which just did).
e) The camera is absolutely terrible. Still - I can be a nice lens for my D80 with the money I saved _not_ buying a new i[Device] every 14 months.

Ein kleines Handy, das alles bietet, was zum Telefonieren notwendig ist. Sogar Freisprechen ist möglich.
Die Bedienung ist anhand des Menüs recht einfach. Dass der Akku im Standby auch 2 Wochen hält, ist schon mal ein Lob wert.

Great rugged phone with phenomenal battery life
Bought to replace a smart-phone (never again!!). I used to have one of these before my smart-phone. I remember it being almost indestructable. I dropped it down a mountain ledge about 25 feet, I dropped it in a lake, I used it in the shower, and the battery life ... 3 weeks between charges!! I also liked the powerful LED torch with dedicated button, which has proved so useful to me in the past.
So when my smart-phone finally gave up the ghost, I was delighted to find this model still available. It took a severe power surge during a lightning storm to finish-off my old B2100, or I wouldn't have needed a new one!
Samsung seem to have updated the phone since I last had it, as the hardware is identical but the software is different. The battery life is improved. I now get a month between charges, based on light usage, or maybe a couple of weeks if I talk a lot. The phone now comes pre-loaded with rudimentary facebook, twitter and browser "apps", that one could use if absolutely desperate, but be aware that these apps are significantly more basic and slower than their smartphone counterparts. They also rely on your network's slow GPRS/Edge data service, as the phone doesn't have 3G or WiFi.
On that subject, please be aware that a 3 sim-card won't work in this phone (I have tried, just to confirm). This is because the handset is not 3G-capable. Other sim-cards work just fine though. With a good signal, data isn't that slow - it's adequate for urgent purposes - although that's not what this phone is designed for. With a good signal, I have successfully used this phone as a "mobile broadband" modem by connecting it via a USB cable (available elsewhere on Amazon) to my laptop (running Ubuntu Linux, but I'm sure you could do it in Windows too - I did with my old B2100). Browsing was slow - but perfectly adequte for checking e-mails and even online banking. Forget streaming videos and the like, though!
I only have a few criticisms with this phone, and it's mostly due to usability. My old B2100 allowed the left softkey to be used as an "enter"/"view"/"OK" key, in addition to the button in the centre of the arrow-keys. Unfortunately, the revised software on the later edition of the B2100 does not allow this, so as a result the little square button in the centre of the arrow keys gets a disproportionate amount of use. I do worry that this will wear out quickly, rendering the phone unusable. On my old B2100, the failure of either of these two buttons still allowed the use of the other with no loss in functionality.
The sound quality on the new revised phone also seems a little worse than on my old B2100, although this could be related to issues that my phone network have been having recently. The old B2100 had very effective noise-cancellation, which appeared to function both for the speaker and the listener. On this phone, people sometimes report that they can't hear me in a noisy environment, which I didn't used to get much on my old B2100. That said, for the most part, sound quality is extremely good for both speaker and listener.
In short, if you want a good, solid, reliable, almost-indestructable phone that just does what a phone does, this B2100 is perfect. I've tried the Facebook app and Opera web browser on it, and if you're not addicted, they're both more than adequate for the odd update.
Alternatively, if you want a mediocre and confused device that doesn't quite know whether it's a computer or a phone (so attempts to do both functions... very badly), has diabolical reliability and no battery life whatsoever (but looks sooooooooo trendy), get a smart-phone.

Gutes Handy ohne Schnickschnack
Samsung hat mit diesem Handy ein kleines, handliches Handy gebaut, ohne Zusatzfunktionen wie Kamera oder Radio.
Die Akkulaufzeit ist hervorragend und das Display groß und übersichtlich.
Wer ein günstiges Handy sucht, welches nur zum Telefonieren und SMSen genutzt werden soll, für den sollte dieses Handy erste Wahl sein.
Der Preis ist unschlagbar, und auch das Design ist typisch Samsung, schlicht schön.
Die Akkulaufzeit ist hervorragend und das Display groß und übersichtlich.
Wer ein günstiges Handy sucht, welches nur zum Telefonieren und SMSen genutzt werden soll, für den sollte dieses Handy erste Wahl sein.

Great buy - recommended if you're after a bit of a retro but very solid phone!
After the contract ended on my Blackberry I wanted a simpler phone, and went for this due to it's alleged durability. As far as I can gather, the other options for a rugged Samsung phone (the B2710 and C3350) are also really good, more sophisticated, and offer some quite desirable features like maps, better internet & data storage & so on. However, these extra features are inferior to what you'd get on a smartphone, whilst the B2100 is the smallest, cheapest & maybe the toughest option, and its basic software is more reliable (doesn't crash).
It is certainly as solid & waterproof as claimed, the torch is bright, speaker is good, & the battery lasts ages. I had low expectations for the software & applications, but it's actually great to use and there's more to it than meets the eye. You can get an 8gb memory card in it (costing less than £5), the browser & email are ok for occasional use, and the 1.3 MP camera & phone setting options are fine. It has some useful stuff like a world clock, unit conversions, voice recorder etc. I've managed file transfers by bluetooth - although you can use a USB cable (bought separately). A negative comment in other reviews is how the main central button is set to operate the internet browser. This is so, and as far as I know you cannot change it, but you can set a different internet profile so that the internet is never activated (preventing data charges if you accidentally press this). This button is used for everything else once you're in the menus, texting etc, and you get used to it - also the keypad lock is effective (and has an automatic or manual option). Other negatives I've heard of are the quality of the screen, but again I really don't think it's that bad compared to what I was expecting, I've watched videos & photos on it fine. Plus, for this type of phone it's far more relevant & impressive that the screen is almost break-proof.

Das Handy kannte ich schon von früher, wo es mich über Wochen (immerhin) zuverlässig begleitet hatte. Handhabung und Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis schienen in Ordnung bis.... ja bis ich mal das Aufladen versäumt und der Akku total leer war. Und seitdem gibt es keinen Mucks mehr von sich... und das im wahrsten Sinn des Wortes....
Also habe ich einen weiteren Versuch gestartet und siehe da: GLEICH VON ANFANG AN ließ sich auch dieses Handy nicht aufladen. Immer wenn die Nachricht aufblinkte, dass es "voll" sein soll, entfernte ich den Ladestecker.... und.... das Spiel konnte von Neuem beginnen....
Das ist wahrlich kein Grund zur Freude.
Also habe ich einen weiteren Versuch gestartet und siehe da: GLEICH VON ANFANG AN ließ sich auch dieses Handy nicht aufladen. Immer wenn die Nachricht aufblinkte, dass es "voll" sein soll, entfernte ich den Ladestecker.... und.... das Spiel konnte von Neuem beginnen....
Das ist wahrlich kein Grund zur Freude.

Great Tough Phone
This is a great phone if you are actively out and about. You can get it wet, drop it in the mud etc and just wash it off. It does not mind being out in the rain or in your inside pocket when you are hiking along. Normal body moisture would kill any other phone. Battery Life is great I only have to charge it once a week. Camera is not brilliant but it has one. If I want to take a good picture I would use a proper camera. The torch on the other hand is very useful, just be careful you don't switch it on when you are on a call. The on / off button is right by the side of the volume buttons. With regard to volume. If you a partially deaf this phone will be OK for you. The ear piece can be made very loud. Likewise the ring tone.
My problem is that the phone I was supplied is obviously not UK stock and if anything goes wrong with it I don't know how I stand with the warranty. I don't mind having all the middle eastern holy days in my calendar but wish it gave an option to remove them. Likewise I don't want the mobile prayer on my phone and I can't get rid of that either. Now that's how I know its not UK stock.

Habe das Handy für meinen alten Herren gekauft. Vor allen einfach in der Handhabung.
Es ist doch nur zum Telefonieren da.
Handhabung ist auch Problemlos.Für Ältere Leute wunderbar.
Sind sehr zufrieden.

A phone you can rely on
Pros:
1. Rugged construction. The phone feels very solid, unlike other phones in this price range, and can be handled without care.
2. Battery life. Good for those who travel a lot.
3. FM radio. You can listen to it through the built-in speaker provided you have your headset plugged in.
4. MP3 player.
5. Ease of use. I found its user interface very intuitive.
6. Built-in torch.
7. Memory card slot. Very useful if you are planning to use this phone as an MP3 player.

1. In order to activate the torch, you have to unlock the keypad. It's good because it won't turn on while the phone is in your pocket but it's bad if you need a torch quickly.
Cons:
1. Low resolution screen.
2. Keypad may be too stiff for some people.
3. "_" is on a "#" button instead of "0" which is not very convenient.
4. Loudspeaker tends to distort sound when on maximum volume.
Conclusion: If you want simple and reliable phone for a reasonable price, this is a phone for you. If you want tough phone with a better screen, 3G and GPS, I'd suggest checking out Samsung B2710. It feels slightly bigger in the hand and its torch can be activated without unlocking the keypad.

A good solid basic phone
This is a very solid, easy to hold, light phone that does calling and texting well. The torch is excellent and can be really useful. The speaker phone facility is particually good and is better than most other phones I have tried (Blackberry, JCB, Nokia E71, E72, E51, iphone).
My only real issues with it (and these may be just requirements that I have) -
1 - the contacts list is very basic, it links with Outlook but the fields need to be simple with little information otherwise it gets confused and is not very usable. I really need to be able to carry my contacts on my phone and this does not work for me here.
2 - I cannot use the phome as a modem with my laptop. This would be a really useful feature to allow internet access where there is no WiFi.
But those issues aside as a basic phone it is difficult to fault. Signal strength is excellent even in remote places. I use the phone as a second phone (because of the above limitations) when I go out and about and do not need a smart phone with me.

Die grafische Umsetzung der Piktogramme ist enorm schlecht gemacht.
Die Uhr und das Kuvert ist auf einen Blick erkennbar.
Der Rest - Müll. Der Aktivmodus ist zu schwer erkennbar.
Wer ein Handy ohne Kamera kauft, will telefonieren und SMS versenden. Mehr nicht!

Great little basic phone but WATCH OUT FOR THE PLUG!!!!
I originally had an earlier version of this phone for 3-4 years. It had survived being dropped from small heights (1-2 meters), being swamped by waves when I took it rowing and the general day to day bashing that a phone not in a case receives. The need for a new phone came when my old one just upped and died on me. I decided to stick with what I know as I dont have need for an all singing all dancing mobile phone, and I had been very happy with my old one. This is a newer version of the phone I had and I had no problems getting used to the small changes between the two versions. the buttons feel smoother the screen seems brighter and more clear and it is easy to navigate through the various functions. The only gripe I have is that the torch switches on when it is in my pocket even if the phone is in locked mode. Only a small gripe but mildly annoying that I have to keep an eye on it otherwise it gets a bit hot around the bulb area if it is on for a while before being noticed. One other thing mine came from some place far far away and the charger was not compatible with the uk plug socket and whilst a 3-pin plug was supplied you had to cut off the supplied plug and refit the 3-pin one - luckily for me I still had my old charger so just used that. Dont bother buying a case for this phone - my old one survived just fine without one.

Dies ist ein Handy ohne viel Schnicknack. Einfach und gut zu bedienen.
Optimal nur um erreichbar zu sein und im Notfall telefonieren zu können.

Love the phone, getting used to the features.
Love the robust nature of this phone. It's tough, has the water resistance (although I've not yet tested it) that I feel I need being an outdoory kinda person.
I've had the phone just a few days and am still finding my way around the menus, most is easy to follow but sending txt to multiple people seems a bit hit and miss.
Torch fab, best ever, Camera not too bad, but lets face it this is a phone for people who like thier gadgets simple and rough-ty tough-ty.
The one annoying thing is that the middle selector button immediately connects you to the WAP application and there is no way (I have 3 friends who also have this phone) that we have found to change this option.
If you are the sort of person that drops your phone, leaves it in the garden in the rain, takes it hillwalking, skiing or any damp place, and are the type of person who generally abuses technology then GO FOR IT.
Get a micro SD card though, or you will fill the memory pretty quick by bluetoothing over those fave ringtones! Not much choice came with my phone.

Ich hab das Handy jetzt seit über einer Woche und bin Begeistert!
Einfache Handhabung,alles schön übersichtlich,Telefonieren,SMS und noch so einige nützliche Funktionen mehr.
Ich überlege gerade mir das Gerät nocheinmal zu kaufen.

Love this phone!
I used this phone for 2 years in Ireland and it was fantastic. Having an outside job I needed a phone that was hard wearing and could take a bit of punishment, it got wet, left outside in the rain, in pockets full of mud, dropped and it refused to give up. My dog even bit it and "ruptured" the keypad and it still had no problems.
It has a small torch which is extremely handy, space for a Micro SD card to increase storage for photos and videos you can take on this (not to bad quality either but don't expect great pictures it is after all a phone!) Also handy for turning it into an MP3 player and not missing any calls as the headphone is hands free kit.
It can even be a radio when the headphones are in but you can listen to all music through the loudspeaker which isn't too loud but again... it is a phone!
The only issue I had with this phone is the screen got scratched from all the muck that got in my pockets, I could have bought a screen protector but I didn't.
I missed this phone so much that when I moved back to the UK I bought another one and I am using it all over again!
If you're an outside worker who needs a standard, hard wearing phone without apps and gimmicks this is it.

Kein unnötiges Zeug
Das Gerät ist für das Telefonieren gut. Keine Kameras, keine Radios, keine MP3's u.s.w... also kein unnötiges Zeug das mit dem Telefonieren nicht zu tun hat. Vom Preis ist auch angemessen. Das passt mir ganz genau.

Waterproof or WHAT !
WOW ! I bought the Samsung B2100 as I needed a tough phone that could take rough handling. As a Vehicle AC Engineer, I'm usually found under a car, lorry or tractor and my phone has to cope with it. The Samsung has been fine and although a little dated, I'm happy so far. The battery life is amazing, usually one overnight charge a week is plenty and the buttons are large enough for my ageing digits.
Last night I finished work and threw my work clothes in the washer, boil wash as they were a bit oily. Yes you guessed it, I left the phone in the phone pocket, (new cargo pants, not used to them yet, more pockets than a snooker table), Didn't miss the phone until this morning and after searching the house and van, (yes, I did try ringing it), went back through events from the last use. Which led me to the washing, now fluttering happily in the breeze on the washing line. My heart sank as I felt the phone pocket, and there it was, smelling nicely of Lenor, but not showing any sign of life. As it had been through a 3hr boil wash and a 1600 spin, I was expecting the worst. So, imagine my delight when I switched it on and it was working PERFECTLY !
Now recharged and dried out it is as good as ever. Well done Mr Samsung.

Samsung Builder's Phone
I bought this phone in 2010 and liked it initially but I found the messaging awkward and in general the whole thing was not as responsive as a Nokia for example. In the past couple of months however it has come into it's own. On Boxing Day it went through a full cycle in the washing machine in the pocket of my work coat. An hour or two on the radiator and it fired up no problem. There was some moisture on the inside of the screen which cleared after a few days.
Three weeks ago the phone fell out of my pocket at work and fell 50 feet to a concrete floor and bounced out of sight. I went down to the phone and picked it up still working--no cracks or problems.
On the basis of the above, I would thoroughly recommend this phone to anyone working in a rougher environment.
