I purchased the Wii controller for my kids who are probably not as gentle with it as they could be. The controller still lives on despite the "little monsters".As a side note, we purchased a used controller in the past and it has since been laid to rest after only a few months -- spend a few more dollars and let your controller live on ...

I just purchased this unit last night for my wife. The Wii Sports package on 12/3/09. We are both loving it. Its fun, entertaining, and you work up a sweat. If you bother to read the 1 stars, they are just idiots. This system was not meant to be put up against X-Box 360 or the PS3. If they have done their research, they would of known better. I also own the PS3 and strictly use it for blu-ray movies and few games.
As for the Nintendo Wii. It is fun, fun, fun. The package I purchased came with Wii sports which include Tennis, Boxing, Bowling, Golf, Baseball. And Mario Super Sluggers, with an extra controller and nun-chuck.
The resolution on the system is 480i/480p. (not a high def unit)
Does not play Blu-Rays nor DVDs. (again, not going up against X-Box / PS3)
Unit is very small and comes with a vertical stand.
Small sensor bar that either placed above or below the tv, to read the controllers.
A/V composite cables, (red,white,yellow)
plug in adapter
My advice, check out the other reviews, and research. This system is meant to have fun. For all ages. My wife has rheumatoid arthritis, and she can use this.

This is one of three games my wife and I bought for our new (used but new to us) Wii and it's my favorite. It took me a while to learn the nuances of the various sports and it was frustrating at first. But eventually I've begun to get better and I'm having a blast. My favorite of the sports is probably the baseball. I really like the feeling of being part of a team and I love the body language of the players, especially when they make a good fielding play. Golf and bowling have been the hardest but I'm finally making some progress. I actually got a hole in one! One thing for a newcomer to be aware of - the tennis game can strain your shoulder if you play too long.

The wheel that i also i purchased is the wonderful thing i bought for myself and for my fiance. He is not a big fan of if it but he uses it when he want to. I like it better then the controller. Sometimes it gets confusing how to turn and you have to turn with it.

I don't like how they advertise the "Bonus" disks. Seperately, the game disks both cost about $90.00, but they are "free" with the new console. I thought I lost one of the disks, and soon found out the possible replacement cost. In other words, Nintendo is making it seem like you are getting a better deal with the two extra sports games disks. But I guess that is really par for the course in modern retail business.Next, I think Nintendo has a long way to go with the controller. The better I got playing 'Table Tennis'(ping pong), the worse the controller got at reproducing my intentional motion. When you play the game there is even a statement that your paddle may get out of wack, in so many words, and you have to point the paddle at the center of the screen and click a button to recalibrate, which as you might expect is unreasonable in the middle of gameplay. It sometimes gets a lot more than a little off center during play. The paddle faces the wrong way, and sometimes your 'put away' shot comes up like a dying moth, and your returns have some undercut chop-shot thing, when you intended a top spin shot.I think whatever the mechanism that recognizes the motion of the paddle is wearing out fast. We have only used this thing for a few months, and never more than an hour a day, usually a half hour. The controllers are not cheap to replace and there are no aftermarket replacements for some reason. I don't think anybody buys this game thinking they'll need to buy new controllers like printer ink cartridges.

My kids 7 and 9 love this game. They spend a lot of time just running around the resort and playing with their Miis. The actual games don't seem like anything special compared with the other wii sports games, but they love it.

We recently purchased Wii console and received super marios game along with it. Super marios was ok but we wanted something more fun and came across Wii sports and Wii sports Resort. We chose Wii Sports for its 20$ price and were surprised when we started playing the games.All the games are nice with the exception of golf. The training and fitness are bonus stuff. All in all a good one for the whole family.

My husband and I are first time Wii users. We had fun playing all those games on "Resort" with the grandkids and friend's kids over the winter. They were fairly easy to learn and we had lots of fun getting on the kids levels and trying to compete. Of course, they always won! But the interaction time was priceless! We really enjoyed the games.

Our Wii broke. We went to get it rebuilt, and they wanted too much for it. So, I simply ordered another one here. We didn't have Mario Kart before, and man, is this thing a lot of fun. We ordered a couple more steering wheels, and we have not stopped playing since. Our other games have been geting no playtime anymore. LOVE IT!

We bought our Wii in 2007- my husband went down to Best Buy in the middle of the night and waited on a line that snaked around the building in the hopes of maybe scoring one of these elusive consoles.He DID score one, and we've been playing almost daily (which is pretty amazing for a console and games that are more than three years old!) since then.A snap to set up, incredibly easy to use. The Wii-mote is a game control like no other- simply wave it like a magic wand and the sensor bar, which comes with the console, picks up the signal and communicates your position and movement to the Wii so that you can twirl, swoop, smash, lunge, jump your heart away as you play.Our whole family has gotten a lot out of this console. I'm 36, female, and NOT a gamer, and I've found myself gravitating towards puzzle games, fishing (!!), the Endless Ocean series, brain teasers, and the Wii Sports Franchise, my daughter (who was a little over one year old when the Wii arrived) has always been able to play along and now is addicted to the many games out for preschoolers (Dora/Diego, the different Disney games- especially Princess and the Frog, Carnival Games, Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort) and my husband, in his 40's, does everything from Zelda to playing poker on the Wii.We spent a significant amount of time playing together, but we also play alone.I think, in many ways, the Wii has become our "family board game". It's a life saver in summer and during Florida Hurricane Season, when it's rainy and too hot to go outside. We can all gather together and get our mind off the gloomy weather for a bit.I've always had game consoles since I was a little kid- everything from Atari 2600 (which I MOURNED until the Wii came into my life), Super Nintendo, Xbox. The Wii has not only shocked me with how much use it's getting, but the fact it's STILL getting so much use- it's novelty has NOT worn off at all, which is rare for any technology, especially game consoles.I can't recommend this enough. Definitely a GREAT investment- instead of spending $20-50 for each member of your family on a toy/gadget that loses it's luster, get the Wii and make everyone happy for a long time. And you will be more than ready to go with both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. Even though we've had both games for a while (we've had Wii Sports forever since it came with our Wii), they are still the games my family always goes back to.

This was a gift for my 5 year old nephew, he loved it and plays it daily. He loves everything Mario and this game was no exception. Shipping was quick. Highly recommended for any 5 or 6 year old.

this game will blow you away if you are a sports gamer as i am. only thing i do care is does takes some time used to. and if are looking to get major franchise games please dont this is better and so much funner and enjoy it as much as most people do.us

I had to replace one of my original nunchuks (after several years of use) while the other still goes strong. This replacement however lasted less than 2 months of light use. It fits in fine with a "click" but the connection is interrupted if not applying pressure to the connection. Now useless...

family had one and we played it last christmas. just what we wanted, will have to add a second remote at some point and looking forward to Pheasant's Forever Game with shotgun for Wii, which will be a family christmas gift. also, hoping to get some work out with it on long term, such as Zumba or Dance... looking forward to this years winter and family nights. also saw a family game night pack for the Wii. Easy to set up and even our 4 year old can play it and plays all of the Wii Sports games. Helps to burn some extra energy on bad weather days. Love it! Also Love the Wii News Forum when connected to the Internet. International News with scroll down headlines. and weather and other Internet features. would next time maybe wait for the new one to come this winter so I could install flash player and watch online videos and more. This version does not support flash.
