unit defective out of the box.Wired works fine.Wireless disconnects every few minutes - router needs reboot...then it loses wireless again in a few seconds to a few minutes.

this is the biggest piece of junk i've seen in my entire life.. the range of this is poor and the speed just suck. It's no fun at all.. this is the second time i've had a bad experience with a netgear product and from now on i'm avoiding it like plague.. what a waste of money and time.

Alas, this product doesn't work with Macintoshes - a Mac running OS X won't even be aware that it's connected. And for a system that, 99% of the time, sees what's connected to it as soon as it's connected and knows immediately what it is and what to do with it (even if the box makes no claims toward Mac compatibility), that's pretty bad. I figured there had to be some workaround that would just get the thing showing up on my system, and from there my technical know-how would likely help me get it working...but no. I tried everything my 20 years of Mac use have taught me, to no avail, and finally contacted Netgear's support, who told me that the thing just don't work with Macs. Ugh. So I guess it's time to give the PCMCIA card a try. I hope *that'll* work.I must say though that even if the card doesn't work I won't regret buying my RangeMAX router. Even just by itself that router gives me a better, stronger wireless signal with better coverage than two Airport base stations working in concert ever did.

So I bought this router a month ago even though the reviews at that time were poor at best. I've never had a problem with netgear and still haven't. I bought this to get gigabit through the house and wirelss n coverage; and to replace my old Super G router (108 mbps). I paired this with a 5ghz wireless bridge to expand my network (Netgear WNHDEB111- Also Awesome!) and a netgear GS116 ProSafe 16-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch. I now have a gigabit wired network and wireless N and set up couldnt have been easier. Albeit a bit akward using the provided CD. But Setup of wireless security was a snap using WPA2 and have had no downage at all from my new network. Definitely glad I bought this router. I only wish It was in the $70 range but given all its abilities $129 isnt too much... 4 out of 5 because of the price.

You've likely seen warnings from Vista owners already. Windows XP users should also tread carefully.I was optimistic that this wireless adapter would work my well-patched and reliable Windows XP Pro desktop, and so I bought it to connect with my new Verizon FiOS router. Regrettably, I didn't read the reviews beforehand.Following the initial installation, my computer would freeze every time I inserted the adapter, requiring a reboot.After updating the software with NETGEAR's online update, the adapter still would not work. Each attempt to launch the NETGEAR software failed: there were no error messages, it simply refused to launch.And so I was never able to launch this product to the point where I could even attempt an Internet connection.These issues were not addressed on NETGEAR's support knowledge base. Following this string of failures, I have no intention of further troubleshooting and potentially jeopardizing my Windows XP installation with this unstable product.Look elsewhere: there are other alternatives with solid ratings here on Amazon.

I upgraded from a pre-N Linksys model because my internal N WIFI product kept dropping the signal. The NetGear RangeMax Premium Wireless-N Gigabit Router has been flawless. It has never dropped my connection. The speed is comparable to a wired connection or better. I got what I wanted.

Do not buy this lousy product. I really recommend you go with something else if your thinking wireless. Take a look at Crapgear's web sight and search the support forum for this model number and you will see that there is an issue with this adapter and XP. This company really doesn't seem to care either. Last update was in 2006 sooooo they must think their drivers are working just fine and dandy!!! This sooooooo is far from the truth. I cannot count the number of times that I uninstalled this F'in card and the drivers to try to get it to work!!! Don't pay attention to J. Temple's review that he had no problems as I can tell you that he is sorry that he bought this card now!!!!!! To J. Temple, from everybody that neg'd this card, instructions WERE followed NUMORIOUS of times!!!!!! Still with the same end result, a card that works whenever it wants to and software that likes to crash when ever it wants to or to a card that doesn't want to work at all!!!! To people who don't believe me and go ahead and buy one, don't blame me, as I warned you. Trust me from my experience with this card..... I will never buy NETGEAR AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an excellent product especially if you are running Vista. It was very easy to install and has work like a champ since I installed it. It does not require a Computer Geek to install. A couple easy instructions and you are operational. Go for it!

I purchased this router about 3 weeks ago. Arrived 2 days after I purchased it online. I am able to stream at 300mbps wireless in my 3 level home and even outside. Easy install and looks great too. I was able to pick it up for a little over $100 so this was a bargain! Looks great, runs awesome and free shipping. What else could you ask for. I saw the bad reviews and I only saw them on Amazon and purchased it anyways. So glad I did and I am sure you will too. This is one clean, hard working router!P.S. Everyone who didn't get a dud actually liked this model. Of course anyone who gets a bad product is going to hate the product. That is why you get a return policy!

It is one of the best networking equipment that I have in my home today !! To test this, I use this to transmit huge HD DVD files and this thing just flies. I think the 5Ghz makes it interference free and makes this kind of data transfers possible - forget about this kind of speeds in 2.4 GHz.From the looks, it looks like a very complicated device to setup, even though I am a gadget wizard - I hate to configure devices that are difficult to install.This netgear device was very easy to install, almost could it use it out of the box - I configured unit 1 to my cable modem and unit 2 to my apple TV.The best part is that like one of the other reviewers noted, I do not have any deadspots in my wireless network in my home.

SO I bought this almost a month ago and wanted to review it after a good testing. First let me tell you what I paired this with - the netgear WNR3500 (wireless N Gigabit router). And although the setup of the router was a bit akward using a cd-rom it worked out decently. But I digress. After the set up of my router I attached these 2 bridges and it was pretty simple. Almost as simple of pushing buttons but setup may neccesitate logging into the router to establish the initial connection... With that in mind the performance has been awesome! I have not had any disconnections and it provides amazing coverage throughout the house upstairs and downstairs. No deadspots in the house and connection to my laptop is consistently 300 mbps. Definitely worth the purchase.

I got the wpn311 to use in my HP a6357c vista desktop.I already had the matching Netgear Rangemax wpn824 wireless router that was working well with my HP vista laptop.I was a little hesitant to open the case of the new HP because I'm a newbie and I didn't want to make a mistake that would damage it.I followed the instructions from Netgear and installed the cd software first. Then I followed HP's website instructions and disabled the bio for lan network which was not in the Netgear papers. I can't say that that wasn't a wasted step but since I have zero experience and I didn't know any different I followed the instructions to the letter.In any event, the card was installed and IT WORKED!It worked right away and since that's what I wanted I am 100% satisfied.I expect it to continue to work, but if anything changes I will add an update.

I am big fan of Netgear, I have personally installed them in my office and home. They are very reliable and they do NOT go down. I have Netgear routers, hubs and switches many 10 years and older, and they are so easy to set up. This pair was no exception, just follow the directions. I am using the Bridge half for my XBOX 360 in my bedroom and the Access point is connected to my router in my Living room. Signal strength is amazing, even with the doors closed! Game play is smooth - I can tell no difference from when I was wired. Just make sure you engage the security features and all will be fine.

The Netgear WPN802 access point performed well once installed. I'm a novice at the networking stuff and had a bit of trouble accessing the 802 once it was deployed because of dynamic IP address. However, once I learned how to access my router I found the allocated IP address of the 802 and I was able to adjust its settings. This issue could have been covered in the really skimpy User docs.

i got the kit (pair) several months ago and now I am getting one more repeater so we don't have to carry the single repeater around the house as much. as far as setup, it worked instantly on our system. the range is not too great but the point is that you put it in the remote room you are working in - it works fine in a room and i worry very little about anybody three houses away finding our signal. it gets pretty hot so I just suspect it shouldn't be plugged in 24/7 since that might accelerate eventual failure. this even works in our backyard garage/workroom so it is pretty robust in terms of transversing the whole household electric circuit. if a conventional wireless station won't reach all through your house, even if this is not perfect, it will be a huge relief for you.

I have had this adapter for about a year now and this has given me a major headache. When I first got this adapter it worked just fine, I can surf the net and download files in an instant then about 2 months later the problems began. I first noticed that it took hours to load my home screen of my operating system account. It usually takes about fifteen to twenty minutes to load my background and programs. then once it connects to my router it takes another twenty five to thirty minutes to connect to the internet. I have also faced the same problems with the adapter dropping the connection when I am connected to the net. In summary, this is one of the worst wireless adapters available in the market today. Please, I encourage you to look at other alternatives for wireless adapters. This one is not worth your money.

Since our router is in the basement and our computers are on the second floor and in the office behind the garage, this range extender really helps. Both of our computers work much better.

When I first plugged it in it worked immediately. I had a brief, 4 minute power outage. Now it does not work at all. I have rebooted, unplugged and replugged. Nothing. The customer support response was less than intelligible to me. The device is not in use anymore.

Purchased months ago at Staples. Installed it on a Laptop that was running Windows 2000 Professional. Rock Solid performance on that platform. It would only require moving to a different USB port if the laptop went into standby, that would be my only complaint on WIN2K, other than that it was excellent and stayed at 108 and large downloads were a snap...Formatted the Laptop and Loaded a fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP2. Can't download large files to save it's life. It will disconnect from the world stare at you until you pull it from it's USB port and plug it back in. Occasionally a 1+ MB file download from the Internet will cause the same result to occur. Tried every driver. Tried unistalling the netgear utility and all associated software except the NDIS software and it still performs like it hates XP. Went on the internet to see if there was a fix and so far the only fix is to return the product to a store and purchase a different brand...that's too bad, I've always enjoyed Netgear products...I guess the production problem in China has now bit Netgear...just a matter of time before Americans are gonna have to start building thier own stuff again...That's a good thing right?

After opening the package from Amazon it took me three minutes to unravel the power cord and begin surfing the net using my new Netgear HD/Gaming Wireless-N Networking Kit! I simply plugged in one of the towers to my wireless router and it was ready to go. Then I plugged the other tower into my Apple TV and I was instantly sending video to my HD TV. I carried my MacBook out into the street and I was able to surf the net from my network about a quarter of a mile from my house. Using my regular router I used to have a few deadspots in my house where the signal was weak. Now I have full-bars wherever I go! Also, my Wii has been accessing the network much faster than it used to.

Works great. It has a lot of options, most of which I don't need, but it's nice that they're there in case my needs change.It did take a while to set up, and the fact that it requires a CD drive was annoying when I tried to set it up using my ultraportable laptop (that lacks an optical drive). I'm not sure why you can't just use your browser to set it up. I eventually got it to work by copying the setup files to a USB keychain drive. The setup process is very slow for some reason, but quite easy.Most competing products have cryptic labels for the settings and un-helpful "help" text (you're screwed if you don't know what "SPI firewall" means etc.) but this product has good help text that actually explains what each setting does (what a concept!)
