I agree with other users.... If you read the TIVO recommended wireless network adapters, this adapter will not work in TIVO because AMAZON is going to ship you out V.2. V.2 does not work, and V.1 is not longer made. I suggest you just order the TIVO brand.... that's what I did, after trying numerous others.and YES, I have a brand new unit with the latest software, that's NOT the issue.

This thing constantly overheats. I have to restart the computer 3 times a day just to reload the drivers. I can't transfer large files across my network, and I can't use P2P without it screwing up and requiring another restart.Go for it if you just want to browse the web. Anything else? Do not buy this product.

Великолепно

I bought this after a friend told me how great this model was working for him. I found the same thing. This one router covers my entire house well -- all 3 levels -- and out into the backyard. All this at higher speeds. Not having the antenna sticking up makes it blend in better -- but the blue flashing lights on top call attention to it. It comes with a little plastic cap to hide the blue light if you get tired of it.

While version 1 (WG111v1) works with later versions of TiVo, Version 2 has not compatibility whatsoever. To make matters worse, it is impossible to tell which version you got until you open the friggin box and look -- which is totally ludicrous. Bait and Switch, people, Bait and Switch.

Netgear makes many fine products - but this is not one of them. If you like rebooting your router at least daily because once again you cannot connect to the internet, then by all means, buy this device. If you like slow communication speeds - then it is for you.They just don't have this thing right yet. Tried firmware upgrade and not much better.I also suggest getting a product that is more specific to your needs. Maybe the multifunction is too much for this little guy.

After months of trouble-free use, started experiencing system lockups. Took quite a while to figure out the problem didn't come from other hardware or software but from this! Reverting back to Smart-Wizard ver.1.1 solved lockups but connection drops intermittently and reconnect a few seconds later. Out of frustration, disabling Smart-Wizard all together and let Windows handle wireless connectivity; and so far no lockups and no drops for 2 days, very happy!! Other users experiencing this problem should give it a try.

I put the router in place and had it working in 5 minutes. We had to replace our current router when it quit allowing the playstation to pass through it. No idea what happened there. But my husband played Socom 3 on his playstation from 7pm until 4am with no problems. I haven't had any issues with it dropping the connection.4/4/2006 - I've had the router for a few months now, and it's dropping packets like crazy. Can't even play the playstation through it anymore, it's useless!

I have the WG602V3 with the current firmware updates appled. This is the first Netgear product that I am truly disappointed in. I need to reboot this unit at least once per day. It completely drops out of sight on the wireless network as well as the wired network. The only way to solve the problem is to remove power and let the unit restart. After reading other reviews, it's not even worth trying to call netgear support, this unit is going back to the store for a refund.

I bought the Netgear Wireless Kit XE02 and WGX102 because my Apple Extreme wifi does not cover all my rooms through the logs of my log home. This kit however was plug and play. I plugged the XE102 into a wall socket and then into the Airport Extreme via ethernet cable and then the WGX102 into any other wall socket and that room became an instant wifi hotspot. Now both my 2 Macs and my PC (with Aria extreme Airport PCI card) easily find the Netgear signal and surfing I go. I am purchasing a second WGX102 extender to add another far off room to the network. Only one glitch. After 5 months my first WGX102 extender went belly-up. Netgear is sending me a replacement under the 1 year hardware warranty for only S&H

Same as everyone... pain in the butt to install. It managed to disable my wireless rather connnecting it... The tech support guy, clearly reading a computer screen somewhere in India, was clueless, a jerk on top of it, and rude... Finally after getting it connected, it now drops the connection repeatedly just as advertised in the other reviews... I should have listened....

I installed this device and it's accompanying cd software according to the included instructions, and it totally messed up my computer (running Windows XP). The software seems to be severely flawed because it first eats up all of my CPU usage (suddenly in task manager it says "System" is using 99%), then it messed up my Windows XP SP2 firewall, and then it disabled my Norton Antivirus. If this software wasn't from Netgear I would have thought it was a computer virus! Oh, and the wireless usb adapter doesn't work, of course. I had to switch back to my wired networking.The only reason I am giving it two stars instead of one is because it seems to work fine with another computer in my house. Go figure. Netgear's support and website aren't useful either.

Spent 2 days trying to get WPN111 to work continuously, and encountered all the problems the other reviewers had. Achieved a signal strength with my new RangeMax router 50% of the strength of my 2 year old NetGear Access Point! NetGear seemed to have jumped the gun on the RangeMax items which is a pity when their previous products have been so good. Their support people didn't even know that there was a firmware upgrade for the RangeMax router however applying it didn't resolve my signal strength problem.

This product was very difficult to setup. I had to run the web based setup over and over again, in between shutting down my computer and DSL modem several times in sequence. I finally had to call their tech. support line (based offshore, hardly spoke English well). And when I was eventually able to get connectivity through this router, my speed seemed slower than before and some images on certain websites refused to load in my web browser. I returned this Netgear back to the store the next day because by that time my connection kept breaking off.What happened? I thought Netgear was supposed to be a good brand. Based on this product, I would never buy another Netgear again. Terrible product, terrible reliability. You could and would do better with a Linksys or D-Link router instead.

I bought this to use with my TIVO. The TIVO didn't recognize it because I was sent a v2 instead of v1. I tried to use it on my Windows XP and 2000 computers and both crashed repeatably. I am going to return it and look for a V1.

1. Ease of installation.2. Detect network at < 20% level, where Linksys Adapter shows 40-55% (was testing both adapter). So far unable to receive or transmit any data using the WPN111. Gave it away as present.3. Made a mistake purchasing one of this unit. Linksys is half the price.4. Do not encourage anyone to buy this unit.Totally disappointed with purchase. Was only attracted by writeup as claimed on the box cover. It didn't work to my expectation.

I purchased 3 of these APs with the expectation to replace 3 Cisco "b" APs and drop in. The setup used Radius for authentication which is claimed to be supported in both the online info and docs. After config (the web UI constantly has problems with cookies and forced you to re-login) the system would work. One quark was the IP address field for the radius server wouldn't accept more than one character in the forms. Up and running. However, upon reboot, the WG302 loses it Radius info and then cannot authenticate a client again. SHOWSTOPPER. After logging this with Netgear support - their response is this is an unsupported config and requires premium support. While this would be fine if it was a config issue, it's not ok given they claim support for these features and this was a required feature for purchase. They give no further support now.I would HIGHLY recommend against the extra cost of this unit given it's buggy and has poor support. Config is difficult (I had to learn how to use the command line config), the upgrades are not well documented (they imply you have to import some obscure file with tftp - you don't but...), however the unit does have good range and works (No RADIUS of course) in a basic config.

This would be a great device if it would keep working for over a couple hours. It drops the wireless or Internet or both connections multiple times daily. Upgrading to the latest (8 month old) firmware, if anything, worsened the problem.Search Google - This is a very common problem that Netgear doesn't seem to have addressed.I am surprised this product hasn't been discontinued.

I purchased this router to replace my Netgear FR314 (the features are similar, but this router has wireless).After installing it, I could only get about 32Kbps download bandwidth from the internet (the FR314 gets about 3Mbps down). I called tech support. For the next few frustrating hours they walked me through all kinds of "stab-in-the-dark" settings changes. Nothing helped. They told me this router is defective and to return it. I got a new one and it had the same problem as well.I don't know what the issue is, but their tech support and knowledge base were completely useless. This router just didn't work. Luckily I still have my FR314 and it works great.If you buy this router and have issues, just do the following in this order:1. Reboot the router2. Adjust the MTU up or down by a few hundred3. Reboot everything (PCs, cable modems, etc)4. Upgrade the firmware5. Do a factory reset (put a paperclip in the hole in the back of the unit)6. Randomly change other settings and see what happens7. Try to find a reason to blame your ISP, network configuration, or PC8. Declare the router defectiveIf you do this, you will save a few hours on the phone with their clueless tech support because that is all they know how to do.

Although, this is a great deal: easy to setup, easy to install, easy to reset, etc., it does contain many problems.One problem is that it heats up to quickly, mainly because its through USB, and USB travels really quick, especially if you are running a USB 2.0 port instead of 1.1 port.Another main problem is that it doesn't function well unless you have a netgear router. I got a new router when I renewed my Verizon contract, and decided to get this so I could network my two comptuers without having to open it up. Often times it says that network is unavailable, even though the adapter is receiving fine. When I bought a Netgear router, it worked flawlessly, but if you don't have a netgear router, its a hassle.The size is overall good, and you can either plug it in directly to the USB, or have a cord so that you can wrap it around or hang it on the side of your computer. Netgear has great customer support, even though their lines are often full the wait time is long, they are always there.I've only had one for 2 months, but so far, it really hasn't given me any problems. Just make sure when your not using it, to unplug it, or it will heat up and wear quicker.

First, let me preface, like many have posted, the unit can reboot continously. However, this can be FIXED and the unit is rock stable afterwards. The solution: Update the firmware. Unfortunately, the automatic "check for firmware updates" menu function does not do this correctly.Go to Netgear's website and download firmware V4.2.6_1.0.1. After downloading, manually update the router from the "Router Upgrade" menu.The link to the firmware is:http://kbserver.netgear.com/support_details.asp?dnldID=900Prior to the upgrade, under heavy load (ie. Bittorrent), the unit would reboot continously and lock up after 6 hours. Since the upgrade, the router now has handled 6+ days of a continous heavy load (300k down, 50k up) without as much as a hiccup.As for the router itself, it is beautiful and functions perfectly. It has a small footprint than almost every other router available and hosts every conceivable option necessary. The only function it does not have is QoS (quality of service), but I have never encountered a situation where it would be necessary. I've had VoIP for over a year now and not once has heavy downloading affected my phone quality.

This product is great. Even if there is a lot of people who seem upset about it, I say a lot of good things!The setup is hard, but after check on the net (via my modem not the routeur, I find some explanation for the setup (just check netgear website and seach the tutorial), in 15 min, everything was working.I now have a double network : one 108Mbps for my self and a few friends, one 54 Mbps for the others friends. And it works, even sharing files from/to a 54Mbps connection/108Mbps connection.Good material.

Had this card about a month now, and I am getting rid of it. Since installing in my notebook I get intermittent loss of signal. Randomnly it just drops and then comes back. Not repeatedly, like every minute, but at least once or twice a session. Also, signal strength never goes above "Very Good" Used to be Excellent with my previous Wireless G card. They may get this card right with a new firmware upgrade, but as of now, I'd wait or buy something else.

I have had great success covering houses that have the router on one side and the notebook/pc on the others side about 60ft+ and on different floors. Here are a couple of hints though:1 - do not use the installation disk, just hook up a pc to the router and follow the instructions in the quick-install sheet.2 - do the firmware upgrade, most of them ship with 1.0.3 and now there is 1.0.103 - enable the xr feature under "advanced wireless"4 - use the corresponding notebook/desktop card: while strongewr than most routers, MIMO needs an intelligent counterpart. So if you cant get a signal where you need it, drop the money on the card the resukts are great - in one case I was able to connect through 60ft of house and into a yard an additional 150 more feet away and downhill!!!
