I've seen many people run into the issue of the headset not syncing to the receiver, which really eliminates the plug and play aspect of this device. Due to the poor documentation that comes with device I thought I would share what I discovered to fix this common issue:Once everything is installed to the point where the XBox360 receiver is showing in the Device Manager (not under the sound, video, and game controllers section) I did the following,*Pressed the sync button on the USB receiver to where the green light started blinking.*Pressed and held down the power button to turn on and force my headset to sync.Once I did this the headset was detected, the four flashing lights turned solid, and an extra audio device showed up under the sound, video and game controllers section of the Device Manager.I was then able to follow the following instructions, starting from Step 2, to setup my OS to use the headset: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935748I hope this helps out others experiencing this issue and if you are thinking about purchaing this headset, it would do it from some place where you can return it. You may not find the sound quality to be any good.

Do not buy this for your Xbox 360! Many sellers claim it will work the same as the Xbox 360 product and that is simply not true.

I've never written a review on Amazon before, but I am so thoroughly disappointed with this piece of junk that I am now.Microsoft does not provide any literature useful for actually getting it to work in the first place. I had to search online to learn how to sync the headset to the receiver which was an aggravating and annoying experience.I finally got the thing to work and audio quality was comparable to that of a bad cell phone call. Lots of static, and audio sounded distant. I thought maybe it was a bad MSN connection, but audio did not improve even when I played music or videos straight from my hard drive. I was also told that I sounded distant and static-y. I ended up using my old wired $5 headset from eBay with a broken taped up earpiece, which sounds crystal clear. At least until I get a replacement.I don't advise anyone to waste money on this crappy product.

Got a nonspecific, unhelpful error message during installation, there documentation is horrible. No trouble shooting guide, the quick installation guide is incomplete and has no pictures. Once I got it to work (by going into device manager and clicking update driver) there was horrible sound quality right out of the box (everything is staticy no matter how close you are, both sounds you hear and what other people hear when talking to you)."

Please note: I don't use it for gaming. That being said, it does exactly what I need it to do. Provide clear communication via video conferencing when experiencing mild to moderate ambient noise interference. Charge while sleeping, use for 6-8+ hours.Only downside...for me...is that it's difficult to sleep with it on your ear.Overall: I dig it.

I bought the ZX-6000 to record sound during webcam based videos. This device is functionally terrible. (BTW, the Microsoft Lifechat Camera/Mic is pretty good.)The device looks good, has a low profile, and fits on the ear pretty well (there are two sized of ear rings. It is light enough that it should be comfortable to wear for long periods of time - except I will never use it long enough to test that theory. Both the microphone and the speaker are abysmal.OK, so how can I be objective about this. First, I called Microsoft, tried the device on two different PC's, waited for them to subsequently send a replacement, and then experienced the same poor quality. Two devices, one bought from Staples and the second direct from Microsoft, are likely from different manufacturing lots and both have the same issues. Here are the issues:1. The microphone doesn't appear to have enough gain to work well with the simplest of programs, the default "Sound Recorder" that comes with windows. Yes, I can record, no, it isn't a volume controls or advanced settings problem. It just doesn't output enough of a signal.2. The earpiece speaker, while silent as it should be when nothing is going on, has strongly distorted sound whenever ANY wav or other sound comes from the PC. Something as simple as clicking on the Windows toolbar's speaker and adjusting the volume (which generates a 'ping' sound when released) sounds TERRIBLE through the earpiece. The best way to describe it is that sound contains electronic distortion that resembles an undersampled signal. Two earpieces down, tested over two different types of pc's. Why did Mirosoft release this product? The quality isn't even close to acceptable.

I really like the concept of a wireless headset. I have not come across one that works anywhere near as well as a cheap wired headset performs. I tested this headset for use with Skype. Result - Avoid buying this product. The setup was easy. I downloaded the installation instead of using the CD. I didn't install Live Messenger even though Microsoft strongly suggests I do... I could use the headset right away without making any changes in Skype or in the headset's software.Using it - The design is okay. It fits well as long as you don't have earrings on. If you wear earrings that are any bigger than a stud, this headset won't fit around your ear. The call button is useless unless you use Live Messenger. I thought the power on button was a pain - really small for someone with big fingers.Sound Quality - Here's where this product becomes junk. The quality of audio is so poor that this product should not be considered for use as a phone headset. My friends had a hard time hearing me and my voice come through not sounding like me. I could turn the volume up to hear them but the quality wasn't good.

I expected this to be working with my xbox 360...b/c it looks the same with the 360 wireless headset. The problem(for 360ers) is that it doesn't have sync button to use with controller.wondered why this, even with the receiver, could be cheaper than the wireless headset for 360...the bundled receiver works for wireless 360 controllers on computer though.just wanted to warn you guys not to make the same mistake that I made.I'm struggling installing the driver on my computer.Amazon should make this product not show up at xbox 360 section.

For an analog headset, they are very comfortable and the sound quality is great, both directions. What impresses me is the mic: it picks up my voice very well (with the mic boost in the + position) but doesn't pic up background noise. Also, my gripe with many headsets is they are tight to my head, which after a while causes a headache. These are loose, and since they are over the ears that's fine (ie, they won't fall off).

I grabbed this in a retail store on a whim. I needed a USB headset for Skype on my Mac, and figured that a wireless one would be nice. MacOS X is pretty good at recognizing new USB devices, even those not specifically advertised as working on a Mac.No joy -- the Mac doesn't recognize the Lifechat. The device ships with a Windows-only installation disk, so no help there. Mac users, move along. Nothing for you here.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but after receiving my unit, I plugged it in, loaded the software and WOW! This thing does everything it says it will. I have even used it for a dj session. I use it to record some classes that I teach, and have gone downstairs and outside, and it still worked. Keep in mind that this isn't meant for music, so don't purchase one if that's what you have in mind. The speaker relays voice perfectly and with good fidelity.

This headset works satisfactorily. HOWEVER, the connection is via analog stereo miniplugs, NOT through USB as the product title states. For an analog connection, the set works well enough. However, for about $10 more, you can upgrade to the LX-3000, which IS the USB-connecting headset.UPDATE ON 12/8/08: It looks like Amazon fixed the product title, which no longer claims that this headset is USB. As advertised, then, I would probably up the star rating to a 3 or 4 because these headphones work as you would expect any analog connection to work: sound quality that is just "good" (not great and certainly not crystal clear) and mic quality that is only satisfactory for basic microphone functions where recording quality is not a concern.

I want a wireless headset for Skype and maybe some gaming. I thought the ZX-6000 was it, but it's not. Not even close!First, the sound can get really bottom out. Sometimes my Skype friends sound like gurgly lagoon monsters, hungry and ready to feed. I can't hear the mid or high ranges of their voices. And the connection seems unstable, causing pops and drop-outs. So I take it back, lagoon monsters may be more coherent. Initially I thought this was a Skype problem but I plugged in my wired headset and I could hear them clearly.I like the headset design, but it doesn't feel comfortable on my ear. I imagine if my grandma took out her dentures and sucked on my ear I could get the same sensation. It's OK for a few minutes, but after that, I can't take it anymore....wearing the headset, that is.Volume levels are fine and the volume buttons work, as does the power button. The call button, on the other hand, is an anomoly. It does nothing unless you use voice on Windows Live Messenger. And even then, you have to install software. The button doesn't work for Skype or Yahoo. But what annoys me the most is that button would serve much better as a microphone mute button. This headset does not have a mic mute! Volume and mic mute controls are essetial on any headset! How could you not have mic mute!So those are my big gripes. A few other things that annoy me:1) The USB receiver is large considering the dongles that come with mice and other peripherals are pretty small nowadays. It also has a cord, which is good if you want to set the receiver on your desk, but I prefer just a small USB dongle that plugs directly into my PC. I bought a wireless headset to...forego wires, not take one off the headset and add it to the receiver.2) It would be nice if the headset was Bluetooth so I could use it with my cellphone. As it stands, it just works with PCs. I know, I'm probably asking too much seeing how Microsoft overlooked some of the more basic elements like a MIC MUTE!I want to use a wireless headset, but there's not much to like about this one. I regret purchasing this headset. I just hope my $[...] rebate comes through to soften the blow.

This was tough to get to work the first time. There are no instructions and it disconnects frequently. This was frustrating.Still not sure what all the little lights are. They say it is for battery life and signal strength but I am not sure which is which and how I am supposed to see it when it is pressed against my cheek.THis is a great product idea but not ready for regular use. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I tried to use sound recorder program to see if I could get good qualify sound but it was very low and there was background noise.I don't recommend this product to anyone. I wasted my time and money.
