I bought this headset for two reasons: one because I enjoy playing online gaming with friends while in Skype chat. And two, my laptop only has a headphone jack, but no microphone jack. But of course it has plenty of USB ports.My friends were complaining because the built-in microphone on my laptop was really weaksauce. So I tried to connect my Turtle Beach headset but it required separate headphone and microphone jacks to work. So after reading some reviews, this seemed like the best way to go. I like that it has only one ear and a handheld mute/volume control. It is really useful when talking to someone in the same room but not disturbing those who are listening to you over the mic.Sound quality is awesome, and my friends highly complimented my voice quality as well. The microphone is a little limp, just don't flip it back and forth a lot. Comes with a little black bag for storage. Lights up mouthpiece when on with a blue light.I would highly recommend this for Skype calls!

Where to start i purchased this product thinking it would work with my Xbox 360 and it dose not but on the adapter it actually says Xbox 360. So I tried to return it but to no avail the company said it clearly stated it wasn't meant to be used for the Xbox if I had been smart I would have taken the time to read the reviews because someone else had the same problem. Ok so I was like so its not a total lose I will try it on my computer but it dose not work on my windows system so needless to say I have no use for it I don't feel like looking for all the updates or whatever to get it to run

I'm no Microsoft fanboi by any stretch of the imagination, but like their Natural keyboards, they again show that while they're not a hardware company, they understand good hardware.I'm sometimes on loooong conference calls. These guys are super comfortable even during a long call. Sound is excellent, though I'm not using them for music or anything. The Lync controls are excellent, and the main reason I got these...I'd been looking for a wireless Lync capable headset, but all the ones I could find looked like bluetooth earpieces and I was looking for more of a headset like this.

The quality of the material are really good.Pros:- This fit well to use in one ear, you just have adjust it to the small size.- The microphone turn to both sides, so you can use it in the right or in the left.- The voice quality and the sound is great.- There is a light in the Microsoft, so another people can see when it is active.- It is comfortable and don't hurt your ear if you use it for a long time (~2hour in my test).- This blocked the environment sound better than I expected. Usually the small phones like this one, do not do it very well. This is great.- It seems like you can hear you voice when talking in the phone. This way you don't speak loud when you are using it.Cons:- Actually I didn't find any cons for this product.

I got this because someone swore by it, sound quality, etc. bla bla bla.The reality is that it's okay. Like many computer electronic sort of things, it doesn't always work as you'd hope or expect. Sometimes I have to unplug and plug back in to get skype to recognize it (that could happen with any headset, admittedly).There are buttons on it that don't seem to function at all on mine... but it's okay since it functions more or less otherwise.Glad I got it? Not really... probably would have been happier had I looked around a little more and settled somewhere else.Oh, the sound quality is fine when it works. Otherwise, not as reliable/good as I'd hoped.

Purchased this to use with Vent when talking to other players in World of Warcraft. Installation is a snap and this is so easy to use. Sound is great and background noises of the game are still heard. Highly recommended. Great price, too!

I purchased this headset for my desktop PC for games and listen to music. sound quality is OK , but i was expecting more comfort then i am getting. They don't stay where i place them on my head and bothers my ears after about 30 min. Also the volume seems low.I can not recommend this headset.

You do get what you pay for, in this case a cheap headset. Don't get me wrong, build quality is good; it will stand up to a decent amount of punishment. However, the space the headset has to fit round the ears are small; and after an 90 minute session you will begin to feel them hurt a bit. And the plastic band that fits around the head is fixed, so you cant adjust them. (I have a big head, and although they fit; it sometimes feels as if its a centimeter or two from being comfortable). Sound quality is ok; definitively not beats quality, but you will hear what you need to hear in good enough quality. The mic is sub oar however, at times I must repeat myself for the other person to hear me.Bonus: It comes with a nice carrying bag. Nothing special, but it's nice that it come with a little extra. They also fold away with a nice small form factor, so that's nice.

I work full time from home and these are perfect if you have to wear them all day. Light weight and durable construction, comfortable ear pad and long USB cord. Wish I would have bought the noise cancelling version but very happy with my purchase. Arrived on time and in the original package.

The voice quality is amazing on this headset! I use it when working from home via VPN. I use it with my laptop's Cisco IP phone. The cord is very long, which is nice, and the headset is VERY comfortable on the ear. I tried using different headsets that cover both ears, and I hated not hearing my own voice or other things going on around me.The only thing to watch out for when using this with Cisco IP phone is that the hard buttons on the headset's cord (mute and phone hang-up) don't work very well. However, I realize that this headset is optimized for Microsoft Lync, so this is not an issue with the headset itself.

I had already purchased a Microsoft lx-3ooo headset but it has two earpieces which totally cover the ear, so you can't hear outside sounds. I ordered the lx-4000 because it only has one earpiece and it doesn't cover the whole ear. Everything was fine for the first two days until the headband broke. I read another review where the same thing happened to another customer. The plastic used to make the headband is simply too stiff. Rather than get a replacement (which would probably break within a few days), I contacted Microsoft and requested a refund.

I purchased this headset to replace my MS LifeChat LX-3000. This headset is much more comfortable to wear than the 3000. The sound is good and the audio output also seems adequate. I use the headset for Skype, podcast recording, listening to podcasts, and VOIP phone calls.

The Microsoft LifeChat LX-4000 for Business headset is designed for use in offices that use Microsoft Lync. Consequently the packaging is sparse: just a headset in some protective wrapping. This is a business product, not a consumer product. The headset came in a tough pouch that over time sort of self-destructs. That's by design so Microsoft can maintain its green street cred. For me, the self destructing bag isn't a big deal because I just leave the headset out of the pouch. The headset can expand to fit large noggins. The speaker boom rotates 270-degrees so the headset can be worn on the right or left side of the head. When the headset is plugged in an attractive blue "1/0" light illuminates. Under Windows 7 the drivers are automatically downloaded and installed. All controls for the headset are contained in one block-like device. On the side is a rocker switch for increasing or decreasing volume. The mute button, when engaged illuminates a nice bright red color. The call button is an attractive shade of blue. One thing that I don't particularly like about the open ear style of headset is the tendency to get a headache. Some designs just go right past "decent grip" and go straight for brain squeezing. Fortunately, the Microsoft LifeChat LX-4000 for Business headset is pretty comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The headset is compatible with the speech recognition software that comes with Windows 7.

If you own a MAC don't buy this. I'm even annoyed that I had to give it one star.I bought one of these, opened the impossible plastic package to just "plug in and go". I plugged it into my Mac Mini, and the sound worked fine, fairly clear, but I had no joy with the mic. After messing around with different settings for an hour or so I decided to try it in my GF's laptop, a MacBook Pro, again nothing, it appeared the mic is broken.After another hour or so on various forum's I found out that it is a hardware fault, but with the Mac and not the headphones. Most Mac's have a "line in" input, which unlike a "MIC" input does not provide any amplification power to the microphone, so it cannot operate. The solution: either buy a "pre-amp" model, a USB model or a separate piece of amplification hardware.I am still annoyed with MS, as it CLEARLY shows on the packaging and spec that it is mac compatible, using the term "plug in and go". It is not. This is misleading at best.Now I have to go through the inconvenience of getting a refund or a replacement, so I can't call home until tomorrow. Thank you Mr Gates.

Several years ago I went through three or four different headsets in the $30-$70 price range, all of them falling apart within the first three months of normal use (attached to my home desktop, on my head, or just sitting on the desk when not used, nothing else).Then I gave these a try and they've lasted over three years with no problems! And, since summer of 2011 I not only use them at home, but I stuff them into their included carrying bag, then into my backpack, ride my bike to campus, wear them all the day while working, then pack them and ride home again, then unpack and use them before I go to bed.After eight months of that the only problem is that the foam earpads are starting to wear out and I can't find a replacement pair specifically designed for this headset (but some of the generic ones out there seem close enough to fit, and not too expensive to try blind).Edit: Any generic 50mm foam earpads will fit, just tested.So yeah, five stars for inexpensive quality Microsoft hardware ending my headset frustrations (and I'm a 100% Linux guy if that says anything).

No issues with this headset as of yet from users on this headset. Much more comfortable than the headsets that cover both ears and the mic moving 270 degrees is welcome so users can pick which side to wear it on. Much better than another brand we tried out recently in the comfort factor, and the sound quality and mic quality is better than we had on our $200+ plantronics wireless headsets!

Microsoft! What were you thinking when you created this product? I didn't realize that a headset could fit so poorly!I highly recommend trying this on in a brick and mortar store, if possible, prior to purchasing. Otherwise, choose a different product.

I liked the headset and have no issues with the sound or audio functions. I have had the headset a bit less than a month and it just broke. There have been no drops/wire pulls or anything else of that nature. Pulling the ear pieces apart to put a head between stresses the thin part of the headset leading to the earpiece. There was an audible crack last week when I was slipping them on and I've been even more careful since then, but it still broke. Going to try and get it taken care of through warranty, but it still seems like a weakness unless the one I received had a defect that I did not notice.I spoke with Jason at the Microsoft Replacement desk and had no issues requesting a replacement though it's on backorder and may be a bit of a wait. That call was fairly short and pleasant. Bumping the review up from 2 stars to 3 as the combination of good audio and good customer service make it more palatable.

This is one of the worst products that I have ever bought. It's very uncomfortable to wear and you can barely hear anything from the speakers. I feel this may have been designed for a child because of the size of the headpiece that is not adjustable. If you have an average size head do not buy this product!

I picked up the LX-6000's through Amazon as they're not yet available at the company store on campus. They work great on Win7 and Win8 and are a lot more comfortable than the lx-3000/4000 the replace. The microphone is also much better than the microphone on the lx-3000/4000 series and they headset is Lync certified!

The headphones are satisfactory, they sound fine for what you'd expect and the headset is comfortable around your head.However I am dissatisfied with the microphone - I work from home and I am constantly told by coworkers or other people that I talk to via the headset that they can barely hear me and can I "speak up please?". I usually have to put the microphone almost in my mouth and shout.
