Had some difficultly getting the stand to secure to the top of out flat screen monitor at first but it all worked out :)Put 5 for linux and windows messenger but have not used either application w/cam yet

Other then using 100% of my CPU and lagging my computer, it works good. I really like the autofocus and auto light adjusting features. The microphone easily picks up my voice for skyping. I was trying to record my monitor to make an instructional video, but it could not pick up the details very well. My desktop is 4 years old and currently has 3GB of RAM and 1.66 MHz processor, so now I'm looking into upgrading.

I use this webcam primarily for video chat on Messenger and Skype. It's important to me that my kids' grandparents and relatives can see my kids with a clear image. This is definitely one of, if not the best, webcam I have used for this purpose. Microsoft has done some things right with their latest release. The video quality is great, especially when looking at low light performance. The webcam handles well-lit rooms and poorly-lit rooms very well. It is impressive how well the video shows up in low light. The other improvement that is welcome is the reduction in motion smear (what Microsoft calls Clear Frame).While I don't typically use the webcam to create videos, I have tried it and this probably shows off the HD capabilities best. I found video editing using Movie Maker to be really simple as well.The value for the money is great. I got this camera on sale for under $60. Even at $79, this is a great value. I am very happy with my purchase. The video quality is definitely improved; however, I just am waiting to have the ability to use the full HD capabilities for my video chats.

I really had high hopes for this camera after reading so many positive reviews. Unfortunately the camera would not work on my Vista laptop. I installed it fine on my XP desktop, but it just refuses to work on my laptop. The video seemed to be very good on my desktop, and I was impressed with the auto focus and sharpness, however since I bought it for use with my laptop it gets one star

On the plus side for this camera, it is very easy to setup and install. I think at most that installation took maybe 15 minutes. The resolution of the picture it great and it works well with skype.I do have 2 gripes however.1. The little stand is pathetic. At least on my desk it tips over a lot.2. The auto white balance does a poor job in adapting to lighting conditions. I have yet to find a setting for custom white balancing, so given the room lighting, everything looks too orange.For a windows users, who wants a basic webcam,I still think this is good value for the money. If they would just have given it a bigger base or a mounting clamp, I would give it 4 stars.

This is one of the best webcams available today. We conduct online video lectures frequently using this HD webcam. The video quality has been superb. It performs better than many expensive camcorders in a very low light situation.

I bought this to communicate with my parents who live 150 miles away. In the past, I would only get to see them a few times a year. Now we setup a Skype call about once a week and the whole family can see and talk to each other. The nice thing about it is you can show them things and with a laptop, you can walk around the house to show them something in the house. In terms of the 720P capability, I believe it provides a better video for the person watching on the other computer. I definetly recommend getting a video cam to communicate with friends and family.

The firs day I used the camera everybody and I mean everybody I Skyped with instantly was amazed with the quality of HD picture on their end. A still photo I made with my grandchildren I will post for some kind of contest. The service and shipping was just like webcam. Excellent. 5 Stars guys.

Camera installed quite easily on Windows 7. Everything was automatic, I didn't even need to insert the installation disc. Picture quality is good, motion blur not bad at all. I like how easily I can attach it to my two different monitors or even set it on my table using its flexible tail. Image quality does suffer noticeably under low light conditions, but so long as you're using this for Skype like I am, that is not a problem. Overall, a nice reliable (so far at 1mo) camera with good image quality.

The s/w that comes with this webcam does not even start in xp. I got a message saying that "lifecam.exe encountered an error and needs to close. We apologize for the inconvenience". Did a web search for this problem and it looks like it's fairly common on xp. I've installed it on another computer that runs Vista and it runs great, the s/w is sleek, image quality is v good even in dim light, skype video calls are good. Really my only issue is the xp behaviour. I'll probably sent it back to amazon...

Best little camera for quality, ease of use and for using while Skypeing with friends and family. The picture quality is incredible and it automatically adjusts with background light changes. It adjusts to fit any monitor and I think it is the best little camera I have ever used.

I am amazed how good this product performs and its quality. I got it for my parents and I have to say skype-ing them makes it more enjoyable now. I can see them clearly and not distorted or even whitish/grayish. I recommend it to anyone who meet the system requirements to support the product.

Great product. Very easy to install. Works great in low light and the picture is relatively good in HD format. You will have to download the latest firmware for the product in order to reduce the auto focus from consistently coming on. Or, if you like, you can just cut off the auto focus altogether. In any case, this product seems to me to be the best in terms of both quality and price on the market today.I highly recommend this camera over any other including Logitech's best.

MS advertises that this will do HD resolutions at 30 frames per second. Yet, I'll be damned if I can get 30fps on ANY resolution. The picture looks great, as long as you don't move. Then, there's a trailing blur that follows any movement. I spent countless hours uninstalling, reinstalling, wasted two hours with MS support (which was useless), installed on a second computer with the same results and even installed a new 1GB Nvidia Geforce 9500 video card again with the same results! This is on a new Dell XPS MT-435 iCore 940 with 8GB of RAM. So, it's NOT the computer, it's their crappy driver!

The Microsoft LifeCam Cinema is easily the best webcam we've ever owned. Setup took approximately 30 minutes to get everything installed and do a practice run with Skype. Quality couldn't be much better. The colors are sharp, motion is solid, and it does well with low lighting (as long as it's not too low). The mic is a little soft but still better than the Logitech cam I was using before. Works GREAT for videoconferencing and just everyday use, and works well for more in-depth projects where you'll want high quality. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the LifeCam. It's possibly the best Microsoft product we've ever used.

I live and work in Afghanistan, okay ? I hop on helocopters with tools and equipment and my laptop, and sometimes I actually have internet service ! ! ! This is THE best webcam I have ever owned ! It is NOT flimsy ! IT is durable, and pretty wildly adjustable, as well as a fantastic image ! ! ! Now, if I were in the States, most of this imagery would come through Yahoo Messenger to the other end, to who you are speaking with. However, my wife sees a better image than before, but I am using satellite internet from across the planet . . . So, yeah, this camera is expensive, but it will LAST and not give poor images ! It is exactly what it advertises to be !

I use this camera with skype and get complemented all the time for the great picture quality. Auto-focus sometimes starts adjusting in/out and it is a little bit annoying, but not really a big problem. I am very happy with this purchase.

This webcam does not only install easy (didn't even need the installation disk with Windows 7), but it also feels quality build, and produces a nice picture quality.I'm using this webcam also with a MacPro (intel) and Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) picked up this camera right away. It even works right away in PhotoBooth. The only downside: it's a 16:9 (I think) formatted image, which is something an application on the Mac does not expect. So you're loosing a few points in weight when looking at yourself through this setup.Since more and more people have Mac's where they run both Windows and MacOSX, I think it's about time that one of the bigger manufacturers (like Microsoft and Logitech for example) should include software and/or drivers for both sides ... (unfortunately; I did not have a chance to test this webcam under Linux)I'd recommend this webcam for all Windows users.

best webcam i have used, i love that is has 720p. good quality however occasionally it has trouble focusing. i don't think skype will let you call in HD which is sad. Mic on it works great. i actually used it as my mic to play games online too which was cool. use it frequently to skype and have yet to be disappointed. im running 64 bit vista(yeah, i know) and its worked flawlessly so far. i have 4gb ram also, works well with this computer.

This is my third webcam I've owned, and I'm very pleased with both the audio quality (major improvement over the Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 (Red)). The best part of the camera is it's ability to work well in low-light conditions. My kids use the web cam to talk to friends online and upload youtube videos of their musical recordings, and we used to have to put on extra lights with our previous webcams. The recordings on this one show up nice and bright with smooth video recording. The ONLY complaint I have is that the monitor mount is not well designed and I wish there was a more secure way to attach it to the monitor.

I researched various web cams and decided to try the Microsoft LifeCam Cinema based on the many positive reviews. This camera performs very well (especially for the price point). In fact, I bought one for myself, then my wife, followed by my brother, sister and parents (5 of these webcams in all). Now we are all skyping with each other. Both the video and speaker are of excellent quality. I highly recommend this item. Planning on purchasing a couple more for my daughters.

I use this to Skype with family and friends and it works perfectly for that. We didn't need anything super fancy and this was more than I expected. We purchased a "used" one but it was in perfect condition, the box was still unopened and the packaging was all intact. Great little camera, picture is nice quality and there isn't too much drag.
