As a Manfrotto tripod user I find these Quick Release Plates (200PL) an invaluable accessory. This is the third one I have purchased and they are now permanent fixtures on my camera body and large zoom lenses. Yes, you could swap the plate from lens to lens, body to lens etc, but that rather defeats the purpose of a quick release system. Some may question the cost/value for money of these plates and even suggest you consider the cheaper third party generic options available. Personally I would much rather entrust my 5DMkIV and an 'L' series lens to the 'real McCoy' as opposed to a cheaper third party option of indeterminate quality. As they say, 'You pays your money and you takes your chance'. Five stars for quality, four for cost...

My first semi pro tripod and very impressed so far. Sturdy feel to it in every way. The fluid head is smoothe in operation. Setting the weight for the head movement is very easy. All the fasteners a made from durable materials and do not feel light and or brittle like cheaper brands. All comes with a lovely case. Once packed away in the case it slings over your should with ease. I have a lowepro sling style bag so with that and the tripod on the other shoulder its no bother. Its not too heavy to carry long distances I find but if weight is a critical point for you then spend the extra and go Carbon. Can't complain at this stage. Its going to Iceland soon so this review will be updated. At present the only improvement would be for the case to have some extra loops on it so that attaching it to a rucksack would be a little easier and more secure. Point being so that you don't have to pay extra for check in luggage as a separate item since it obviously won't go in hand luggage. NB: I like proper tripods on holiday and not the travel style.

They may cost a little more than the third party manufactured plates but they are a good fit and sturdy made. When I clip my £2K camera and £2K lens onto my tripod I like to feel reassured they are going to stay there. Maybe the cheaper versions are as good? I don't know because I like what I have bought.

I have always used monfrotto heads. My previous one 324rc2 had an easy to use grip device rather than a series of butterfly bolts making head adjustment a breeeze. I would still be with that one if it wasnt foor its lack of ability to shoot straight up for taking astrophotography / lunar shots. This one does it perfectly and fels rock solid so you know your 400mm prime lenses is going to be knocked off. I have dropped it one star as i did notice a weird phenominum on my copy. If you adjust the angle slightly, it has a slightly spongy feel to the movement and it tries to creep back to the previous position but as soon as you lock down the buuterfly bolt it stays in place. Would definately recommend this head.

Although the Amazon description does not say so, this is the 200PL Quick Release Plate. I bought it for use on a Manfrotto MH804-3W head and although slightly different this plate fits as well as the original. It has the advantages that it can be used with a camcorder that needs the VHS pin (choice of three positions) and it has the optional 3/8 inch thread adapter as well. The ring for tightening the screw is larger than the original making it easier to use when wearing gloves or if you are ham-fisted like me! Well worth the money!

This product is outstanding and exceeded my expectations.
Although called lightweight it is larger than you might expect. My Canon Legria G25 sits very comfortable on it and if anything makes it look big. It's very well constructed and finished.
I'd previously read suggestions that there may be stiffness in the panning and that the control knobs can be hard to access but I'm mystified as to why. The panning is easy and is perfectly controllable. The tilt counterbalance works well too. I particularly like the sliding plate as when you've finished loading up the mic on top of the camera etc you simply loosen the lock and move the camera backwards and forwards until the counterbalance mechanism has settled into the equilibrium position that you want the camera to settle on. I've been filming football games so I want the camera to be angled slightly downwards and not pointing perfectly level to the horizon and this trick is perfect to achieve this effortlessly. The bubble level on the heads is easy to see and use too.
I spent ages dithering and looking at cheaper options before taking the plunge and buying this but wish I'd done so earlier. It's worth the investment.

Acheté pour remplacer le plateau rapide de mon trépied Manfrotto Befree que j'ai malheureusement perdu.
Il est moins cher que sur le site officiel de Manfrotto et en boutique physique spécialisée en photographie qui les vendent minimum 28€.
Très bonne qualité, léger et il n'y a pas de jeu sur le trépied, il est très bien maintenu, à la différence des copies qui ont souvent des problèmes de dimensions.
Mettez le prix (qui n'est pas très élevé) pour avoir de la qualité directement au lieu de passer par des copies à quelques euros qui feront bouger votre appareil photo ou pire faire tomber celui ci. Ne faites pas reposer du matériel de plusieurs centaines d'euros sur un accessoire à 2€.

I've had several third party copies of this plate and they are a lot cheaper but is false economy. The copies rarely clamp tightly in the tripod head and the rubber on the top of the plates fails resulting in slippage on the bottom of the camera. No problems with the genuine item. Get the real thing

Smashing video head in all respect bar one. The screw thread on the knob to tighten the long arm handle did not match the screw thread of the hole. Since I had a job booked the next day I just screwed it in, crossing the threads, as much as possible to secure the handle. By doing so I've probably damaged the threads and invalidated the warranty. If I didn't need the video head the next day I would have sent it back for a replacement. I assume this is a one-off since no one else has mentioned it. In other respects the video head is very good for the price.

Exact replacement and fit for my XPro head. I bought this so I can keep one plate on my camera body and one on my long telephoto lens’s collar. Works great.

This tripod is excellent and just what I needed to support my current video set up and lens choice. The fluid video head allows for smooth pans and tilts. Whilst I rate the overall product 5/5 the pricing of the product, is as expected, expensive. You know what you're getting with a Manfrotto tripod and this hasn't let me down at all. I bought it when it was on sale, and have no regrets on my purchase.

If you have more than 1 camera you will need this product as a spare to permantly screw into the tripod 1/4 inch screw hole at the bottom of most cameras. Your camera can then be rapidly and securely mounted on a mounting plate or ball head on the many tripods that are compatible with the PL 14 system.

I use it for filming (DSLR, Canon user). Minimal amount of shaking even if you are far away from you object. Movement is very slick and head is capable to support all the equipment (nearly 2 kg). Although I have to use a coin to tighten the crew that hold the camera, sometimes it gets loose.
Long handle is not the most comfortable, but it doesn't have to be. It's slim, firm, can be on both sides. That all I need.
The only downside is that it blocks access to battery. But thats for Canon 700D. I hope others don't have this problem.

Once fitted and lined up correctly on each lens, it becomes second nature and you can trust the mechanism has been positively locked in place. Well worth buying for each lens and they have an extra feature, namely the screw part which can double as a point for a tether strap/clip when not on the tripod.

Very rarely do I pen (or type!) a review on Amazon (or anywhere!!), however this item warrants it! The build quality is excellent, I use it for my spotting scope for bird watching. It sits atop my Manfrotto 055 tripod.
The panning is smooth and consistent, the mounting / quick release plate can be set back on the mounting tray so that if you need to find the centre of balance with items such as "front heavy" scopes or cameras, it is easily achievable. You don't have to, you could simply lock off the pitch movement with the locking knob, but its nice to get it naturally balanced.

To save moving from one to another lens I went for a 2nd plate. Good and solid, as usual with Manfrotto, feels very durable and price was lower than elsewhere.

Really love this video head - after seeing two friends using it on various independent productions all I can say that is it's smooth and sleek, has a nice weight to it and is really well made. As expected with manfrotto they have built a really great video head that doesn't overpower the size of your camera if you're using a mid range DSLR. This also has space for an articulating arm which is handy for attaching accessories.

I got this at the same time I ordered my Befree 2 in 1. All the numbers matched and it said it was suitable for the tripod. WRONG IT ISN'T.
waste of money. Be warned to check your spare quick releases as soon as you get them, and not when you need them.

Very sturdy build, feels and looks professional. Works great to provide smooth pans and tilts. It cannot be adjusted and comes precalibrated and tuned but i don't see any need for looser or tighter the joints, although you could use the lock screws but those are friction based and introduce some vibrations, so use them only to lock. It works great as is.

A good replacement part for when my camera and this plate got stolen. Works just as well as the original and in fact is better quality than the one that came with the tripod originally.

Only had chance to try this out in my back garden and around the house, but its (Film smooth) enough said. There are a few versions of these fluid heads knocking round, some with perhaps more control in some aspects, but fear not, everything you could ever need is in this one. Will be an asset to my media business and will be for many years.

This is my second one (I have two bodies). The first I've had for 4 years and have attached a shoulder strap to the clip that tightens the screw that secures the quick release plate to the tripod; it holds the camera securely when not on the tripod. (I find a shoulder strap much more comfortable than a neck strap with a DSLR.)

Panning screws comes off. It does do a good job otherwise. But do not like the screw adjustment for panning. That screw is a screw.......... you will never see it one day when you want to adjust it.

This is a top quality item, a great fit for my tripod and camera.
Have used Manfrotto for years and they are solid and reliable. I have many for each camera/thing that needs to be mounted and they are always good.
