I found this webcam to be very easy to connect and use. The picture was excellent and, after getting used to the sound lag, the audio was also good. I would highly recommend this product to anyone searching for an excellent webcam.

The Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 WebCam has been a wonderful webcam thus far since I purchased it October of 2006. It is extremly easy to set up. Just rember NOT to plug in the webcam first. I was told it will mess the camera and the computer up. This camera is perfect if you plan on talking to people via webcam. The quality is good, NOT great. It's better then most, but could be improved. I upload alot of video's on YouTube and the quality of upload has not been great with this camera. Which is why I personally gave it 4 stars. Also be careful with lighting around this camera, and the color black. Whenever I wear a black shirt other colors run through it. Other then that it has been a wonderful camera. Enjoy!

My experience with the QuickCamPro 5000 WebCam has been disappointing. Perhaps the problem lies with me rather than with the product. However, I have not yet been able to maintain a good "sound" connection between myself and my daughter (who has a less expensive version of the Quick Cam). When I do have a reasonable connection, there is a significant delay between the sound and the video. Also, the video, though not all bad, is somewhat distorted. When I tried to install the program on my son's computer (which is somewhat faster than mine), we weren't able to do so. As already noted, the problem may be with me rather than the QuickCam. However, after many tries, my disappointment remains.

Overall, this camera works pretty well. The video is good. At first, my HP laptop did not recognize the mic but after rebooting it worked. The avatars don't really work well enough to be useful so don't buy the camera for that feature.

This camera does what you want it to do. It does great video and audio. I use the camera for overseas video calls and the other party complements me on how good it works. The audio is also above average because of the built in echo cancelling (not found on cheap cameras). I have also used the included headset and mic and this also works quite well.The video is quite good because of it ability to work in all light conditions (low to bright) and adjusts automatically.I have other PC cameras and most are very inexpensive and I got what I paid for. While they do work, the picture tends to be quite poor in most light conditions. I would compare this Pro 5000 camera to an inexpensive camera as either watching s-video as to watching a snowy picture with rabbit ears on your TV. This is especially true in low light conditions.I use this mostly with "skype".

Me encanto, fue incluso mas de lo que esperaba, la imagen es super n?tida, es f?cil de colocar en cualquier lugar y ubicarla hacia el ?ngulo deseado, el software es muy bueno ya que te permite agregar varios efectos a la imagen: avatares, objetos que se agregan a tu cara (la c?mara identifica tu cara y la sigue inclso moviendose y te puede poner desde unos lentes a una flecha que atraviesa tu cabeza), efectos varios. Y adem?s tiene soporte de drivers para todas las versiones de windows. Recomendada 100%.

I tried all types of chat software that provide audio and video, but could not get both working at the same time. If the audio worked the video did not and visa versa. i am very frustrated with this web cam, i would not recommend this. If anyone know a solution please let me know...

The winning points for this webcam are great low light ability and nice field of view. The Fusion is supposed to be a step up from this one but its' low light capability is markedly different (not as good, in my opinion). But one would expect the visual experience to be somewhat different since the fusion uses a cmos sensor whereas the 5000 uses a CCD. Cmos sensors have been playing catch up to CCD technology for quite a while now and are almost equivalent now but in absolute terms, I think CCD still has a slight edge over CMOS when it comes to image quality. Setup was quick and painless. Go for it.

Lots of people do not know the difference of CMOS sensor and CCD sensor... and that is the biggest impact on the quality of the images they will have with their webcam...The QuickCam Pro 5000 has a CCD (which is the best sensor) and this means a great light sensitivity.I had the QuickCam 4000 and since I was impressed with the quality, and all of my friends stated that the image of my webcam was really great (compared to the cheap ones), I decided to give my 4000 to my parents and get the new one.Acctually, there is not a whole lot of difference between both of them, and I keep most of the coments I had for the 4000 to the 5000...I was amazed with the quality of this camera, and believe me that all my friends mention the same thing... This is perfect for Web Conferences... I use it on Skype, MSN, and to record some movies with the software that comes with it.. Quality is Great !!The Microphone on it good as well... It may pick up the background noise, depending where it is located of course.. but in the overall it has a good quality...Another simple but real handy feature is the plastic cover that goes over the lens and will prevent it from beeing on and filming when you really don't want it...Also, it comes with two goods monitor (or shelf) stands..CRT or LCD...The list goes on with Face Tracking, Zoom and other stuff...You will Love this camera... Just as I love mine...And I must say I am a fan of it since the 4000 :-P

I just got my webcam and I installed it immideatly. Everything was working fine. I was checking to make sure everything worked and messed around with it a little bit.After 10-15min, my monitor just went black...and I had to reboot the computer. Everytime i logged on I would get an error message from windows saying that some driver had caused this error and my windos operating system (XP) wasnt working properly. After a few reboots I had to uninstall the Logitech webcam driver so get it to work again. Obviously you need the webcam driver to use the webcam so Im thinking of downloading the software from logitech to see if that will make a difference. If not then i plan to return this which is a shame because the 10 minutes i did get to use it seemed quite nice for my first webcam.UPDATE: I got my webcam working fine now...just went to the logitech website....downloaded their software..and followed some simple steps to get the webcam to work fine without cauisng problems with Windows. I really recommend this camera...because it look better than i thought it would.

We got this camera so grandmother/granddaughter could see each other. We have an H.323 capable video phone and need to use Microsoft netmeeting to connect to this from a PC. The current Logitech drivers (version 10.5) do not support Netmeeting (Windows actually gives a blue screen of death as a result of these driver). I'm disappointed with the fact the drivers for this camera are so poor.Before buying this camera, I'd recommend going to Logitech's website and looking at their User Discussion Forums for the list of issues.Camera was returned.

Pros: can use on both crt and lcd monitors picture quality goodCons: Logitech never resolved the mic driver issue for some XP versions. The mic does not work on XP Home Edition, even with SP2. Has driver conflicts with the OS. Used the latest 10.5 Quickcam software. I noticed someone else had the same issue but figured it was resolved by now, but it's not and will never get fixed. This is b/c Logitech support sucks. For a company that size, they are a DISGRACE!!!!! If it ain't the blue screen of death then it's no audio. take your pick.

I've had this web cam for about a month now and I have nothing bad to say about it. Some reviews in the past mentioned that the lens cover comes off too easily and they're right, but it takes all but a second to put it back on - when you're using it. We hardly use it.Great quality while on the cam, and the microphone works great! Blocking out outside noises, and it really zeros in on the one chatting with the camera.I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking to purchase a webcam.

I was pretty desperate for a good webcam and was willing to pay alittle extra for good quality stuff. I was so dissapointed that the intel webcams were no longer being manufactured(I still feel they were the best), so I had to hunt for another manufacturer. I tried the Pro4000 which I like but it was too pricey, so I returned that because I already knew by then that the pro5000 was coming out. I had to return the first pro5000 since it was defective(a thick horizontal black line across the image), but Amazon replaced it with a good one and I've never been happier. I have been using this webcam for 5 months now and I love it. The image quality is much superior than some of the other logitech and creative webcams that I have tried. The mic quality is too goo as well. I can walk all over the house and people can still here me as if it were a speakerfone. All in all a good buy.

I had a QuickCam Pro 4000 which worked fine on XP Pro. But when I tried to install it on my Vista PC, no good. The 4000 is not and will not be compatible so I upgraded to the 5000 and it works fine on Vista. Great clarity and lots of features. This is the way to go if you have Vista or any other operating system.

I've tried several different webcams, and the Logitech 5000 by far has the best image. Its especially good under low light conditions, where the other cameras I tried didn't work very well. I use the 5000 regularly for videoconferencing via Skype, and it works very well with this service.The software, however, is downright awful. When trying to set the audio, for instance, the whole system will freeze up completely. I couldn't kill the process at all, and I couldn't even reboot - I had to physically hit the power switch on the computer to restart it. As a programmer, I can tell you that it takes some pretty bad coding to completely lock up a system like that. As a workaround, I had to change the settings on my microphone manually in windows Control Panel and then never ever touch the Logitech camera settings program.In scanning the web, I've noticed that many other users have had similar problems with their Logitech software. Its a shame that Logitech would release such a nice piece of hardware with such horrible software. So, if you buy this product, cross your fingers that their software will work with your system.

I live in Houston, TX. and I look forward to saying "GOOD MORNING" to my nieces in Canada each morning via the Logitech WebCam. When I purchased the Pro 5000 model for each of them as Christmas gifts, I had no idea how much fun it would be for the little ones to actually SEE my 3 pets and me while we talk! They can't wait to finish breakfast and to get dressed before we chat with each other. This is going to be a gift that we ALLLL can enjoy throughout the year!Kay in Houston

Great Webcam. I own the Pro 4000 and purchased the Pro 5000 for my gf. This camera provides crisp clear quality and if you have broadband access, and skype the images are very clear with little lag (partially dependent on broadband speed). The stand is also really cool, unlike the pro 4000 the pro 5000 can be notebook mounted. Would recommend to others in the market.

We have purchased four of these cameras for various family members and ourselves. Our primary use is for Internet video chat, such as using Skype. And for that it works great. Is the video choppy? Yes, but that could be because of the Internet connection. We haven't done much recording with it so I don't know how video files look. The install was easy, the tools good for walking the novice through setup. For video chat, I highly recommend this product.

How does a major company release a flagship product that is entirely incompatible with Windows XP.... the operating system on the VAST majority of computers in the world?? good question and one that Logitech can't answer. If you run windows XP be prepared to have major crashes and lockups with this camera. I managed to get it running with thier latest "10.0" drivers from thier website but it's only stable as a USB 1 device....if I wanted a slideshow cam I would have paid 20 bucks Logitech. All that said I believe it it a good product if you can get it to run...sooo up to you. I would not reccomend it until Logitech has proven they can support it...lame-os.

I believe this is the second Logitech camera that my computer didn't like. I was running an older computer and the system would restart randomly so I just assumed it was time to get a new computer. So I got a new HP system with all the bells and whistles and I bought a new webcam (Pro 5000) to go with it. When I'm running any video software on the computer it randomly restarts. I would not recomend purchasing any logitech cameras. The face tracking is a good idea, and I like the zoom feature. but overall wouldn't recommmend this product to anyone.

This camera works if you do not mind replugging the USB in every time you use it. I have contacted Logitech and have not gotten a response. I would not recommend this camera. Also it does not come with the headphones as stated in the description I contacted Amazon about this and changed the camera and received the same. After second try they gave me a discount on the product. Look for a different camera this one not worth the hassle.

I have used this camera for last 2 days continuously with people over seas and with domestic friends, and i have not had a single complaint about the quality of picture. People need to understand that upload and download speed are different at all locations. So if you have a broadband connection (i prefer cable) this Camera is the best in its category.PROGreat Video Quality, Very Very Easy to Install, Graphic effects Software I just love it.CONYou will only have issues with this camera if you are not that technical to play with it, in others words the problem will be between the keyboard and the chair ;o)))

Logitech dropped support for TWAIN in the 10.X software release. Guess what, you want TWAIN w/ Vista? Forget about it. You can't install a 9.X.X release in Vista. You are screwed. The Creative Labs Optia has TWAIN support for Vista.What where they thinking?

Go check out Logitech's own forums. The software for this camera crashes Windows if you have a new AMD dualcore CPU. I have contacted Logitech about this and they offer no fix nor pretend to have one in the works. Don't get this camera if you have a CPU like mine.

I am very pleased with the Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 WebCam. It was extremely easy to install and operate. There was a little trouble configuring the sound, but Logitech's advisors worked that out fairly quickly. I have a 1.6 GHz processor and 128M of RAM which supports the camera just fine, but the imagery (avatars) software is just on the edge of my computer's capability. Overall, a fine product from a reliable company.

when the product arrived last week Aug'06. Installation was easy as i followed instructions. After it asked for a restart which I did, thereafter no problems with installation.The base of the camera is flexible so you can adjust to your liking. So far, the video feed has been very clear. I use it mostly with MSN messnger..and my friends continue to comment how how clear and crisp the image is. One of my friend has dailup but she can see my movements and expressions clearly. I look fwd to her gettin dsl to see further improvements.I have a 5.1 digi cam, so pics didn't fascinate me, but i will admit they looked decent anyway.the face trackin works well, keeps adjusting as you move ur head, also zooming in and out!My room is not the best lit, but the camera's low light technology handles that superbly. My features are very distinguishable.I would recommend this cam to anyone!

I would definitely recommend this product. This is the 2nd webcam that I tried. The first one was a Creative Live Cam Notebook Pro and it doesn't compare to this one at ALL. The quality on the pro 5000 is very good, and it is running fine on Vista for me.

You should be warned before purchasing this - IT MAY CRASH YOUR COMPUTER! I installed this just before April Fool's Day, and the joke was on me. After it crashed my computer and I had to restore all my files, I realized that I have to unplug the camera before I reboot the computer, otherwise the computer just keeps rebooting. It is a driver problem with the included software, which is necessary to operate the camera. My system operates on Windows XP, on a computer which is about a year old now. The camera itself is okay, but I would NOT buy this product again, because of the driver problem. BE WARNED!

Love this camera and the face tracking ability of it is great. When you have a two year old that cannot sit still it comes in handy. The rightlight technology is great too as I don't have the greatest lighting around my desk.Definately recommend this camera to anyone in the market for a new webcam.

I have it for over a month now. It's been used only for web video never tested the still picture capability. It delivers very decent quality video in various lights. The built in microphone works pretty good deliveryng clear sound. I have been complimented more than once by my web buddies on the quality of my video, so I would recommend it to any day-to-day user

This was my first web cam purchase. I researched reviews on Amazon and PC Magazine. This cam seemed the best bang for the buck. I purchased one for myself and one for a family member so that our distance didn't seem so far. The cams are working out terrific. The audio and video are very good. I would recommend it!

I have been very satisfied with this WebCam. It takes Great still pics and has Wonderful video. The effects available with this Cam are lots of fun. Since my Dad moved across country, it has been Fantastic! I can still see and speak to him every evening.

What a brilliant way to see and be a part of my 2 year old grandson's life on a continuing basic despite living states away. The webcam is easy for a non tekkie grandma except that the placement of it to get a good and flattering camera angle is a problem. The webcam also falls off its base when adjusted. All in all, it is something I am glad I have.

The cam has a very good image quality, I use it only with Linux and while drivers are not yet in the official trees or in distributions, they work resonably well (search for linux-uvc).Unfortunately they use only the Video4Linux2 interface without backward compatibility with the older V4L1 api, so some applications will not work.

I have purchased Logitech 5000 pro beofre. And on the box, there would a a stereo headset and a picture of it on the box. Today, when I recive the box of my new purchase Log. 5000, there is no picture of the headset...I started to worry. I open the box....AHHHH S@!T. NO headset! Amazon specific stated on the web saying that there is a stereo headset in the box. Man...what a disappointed. I'm gonna ship it back to Amazon. But as for as the webcam...Logitech webcam is the best, I own logitech 4000 and 5000.

Other than one blue screen of death on my laptop (none since -- likely a USB problem, and may not have anything to do with the camera itself), this camera works fine. It was reasonably priced, and has a decent image. That's all I am looking for.
