If you look through the comments, it's too common an occurrence to be bad luck.
If you're buying this item after reading this review, don't accept the parcel if there is any damage to the outside.
It's such a massive pain in the arse.

The initial setup when switched on the first time is straightforward but lengthy. Surprisingly for a mega-multi-national, the English prompts in the setup read like they’ve been translated from Korean using a dodgy online translator. Still, the meaning comes through ok.
Once set up, the default picture setting is “eco”, which is dull and disappointing. Happily there are other better pre-defined modes and also “expert mode” to set the picture up as you’d like. The TV recognised HDR from my FireTV stick all by itself and it does an ok job of the HDR picture.
The sound is ok, and keeps fidelity to about 70% volume - which is LOUD. Beyond that it’s let down by vibration from the case. However, unless you’re using the TV in a *huge* space then it won’t be an issue. The various modes for sound work reasonably well. There’s an “AI sound setting” mode but the LG Magic Remote is needed for that and it’s not supplied
The supplied remote is terrible. Plasticky body, bouncy buttons, too small and too complex for old folk. Power, volume, channel, subtitles, would be perfect for my 86 y o mum - there are some 3rd party learning remotes that might do the job. The LG one - nope.
The Amazon Alexa setup is incredibly complex but it does work if you struggle through. For iOS, install the LG ThinQ app, create an account via the app (it seems to want a huge amount of personal info and you MUST agree to your data being exported outside the EEA and third-party use of your data before letting you use Alexa), log on to the account on the TV, get the LG ThinQ basic and complete skills, account link both skills to your app-created ID, scan for new devices in Alexa... At the end of it all it does work, but the command sequences are pretty long and unwieldy - “Alexa, tell LG to set volume on Living Room TV to ten”. Meh, I'll use my Sky+ remote instead.
For a £400 TV it’s ok but I feel it’s been built to a price rather than a quality. Many years ago I used to sell Lucky Goldstar branded stuff when I worked in Woolworths, and the rebranding to LG seemed to bring better quality. I’m not convinced this is the case now.

The TV is smart - very smart - and within 20 minutes I had it set up with all streaming apps set up, TV channels tuned in and I had worked out how to use the magic remote.
For the price of the magic remote it changed my job from 2 weeks of being moaned at because new stuff is sooo complicated and having to patiently explain again and again how to do a particular TV function. I set up the TV and I pointed out the microphone icon on the (magic) remote and just said press that, wait for it to come up on the TV screen and then talk to it. She did, it listened and responded. My wife is not a computer geek, unlike me, and only uses one for what she considers important. The magic remote is now in her arsenal of TV bits. She speaks to it as much as she does to me (well almost).
The TV itself has a 4k screen that took our breath away with its quality. Just to be picky I looked closely for stuck on and dead pixels. The count for both was 0. The screen is bright, great natural colour and at 43" (diagonal) is a great size as it is an easy size to watch and get immersed in what one is watching without being so large that it takes over a room and turns your room into a one function room.
The sound quality is also quite astounding and (don't forget that this is very subjective) for me, it meant a sound bar was excess to requirement. BTW I love heavy loud sound drenched rock music as well as classical music inc Mozart and Sibelius. The TV audio copes feautifully at both ends of the audio spectrum
Lots of inputs, usb gives pause (time shift) and record (basic like most tv's in this price range) but wow as a package, it am overjoyed by it. As a husband, my job is done!

One bad point.... the remote is rubbish and poorly built. Sometimes have to press the buttons a few times. You can upgrade to a ‘ magic remote’ which are better but they’re at least £50

I did have to buy a stand as my TV unit wasn't wide enough for the feet that come with it - this one is great https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077SNNDTB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It didn't get 5 stars for the following reason:-
Freeview - My 10 year old Sony TV received about 140 Freeview TV and radio channels via aerial, this only receives 43! I had a satellite dish too, which received over 150 channels so was OK BUT if I didn't it would have been going back unless LG could provide a solution.

The positives are that the Picture was pretty good and the sound was definitely impressive, also we had no trouble with setting up Alexa via our echo dot - But when your TV constantly crashes & you can't just watch a show, this doesn't really matter! We have had 2 LGs over the years, one being an older model 4k smart and we were happy with them hence buying this model. So were supprised at how rubbish this TV was. It was such a waste of time hanging on a wall installing all the software, logging into all the streaming apps etc so then have to return it. it also has not been very easy returning it, Amazon were not very helpful and we've had to wait two weeks just for the TV to be collected so that means no refund as well until collection. I have literally spent about 14 hours of my life installing, trouble shooting and on the phone to amazon about this TV and I'm still awaiting collection and a refund!!
So after all of that we bought a Phillips, it's brilliant. Better in every way to the LG and it has not crashed once! Seriously impressed, it was hardly anymore money & the quality is incomparable.

Here's a list of pros:
- Snappy user interface with Freeview, Freesat, NowTV, Rakuten along with all the other well known apps and services like Sky, Amazon, Netflix and more that can be downloaded.
- Clean UI in general, easy to read font, large on screen and good clear programming layout.
- Sharp display at 4K HD, with different lighting and contrast options.
- Black is actually black, not grey.
- The sound is warm, clear and rich, especially when turning on the enhanced audio option. (didn't need to buy a Soundbar in the end).
- 2xHDMI inputs are on the side, 1xHDMI on the back. This is great for wall mounting.
Overall I'm very happy with this TV, having been lucky to get it at great price, would recommend and buy again!

At the time of purchase I did not realise the TV comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in, so a few accessories now live in a drawer! I guess nowadays this is standard, but the last time I bought a big TV was at least 10 years ago and it was crap and a LOT more expensive.
If I had to pick something to complain about I can only think of the lack of a remote (needed). Luckily for me, I had a 5 year old LG remote and it turns out it does everything with this TV. No need for the semi-expensive magic remote unless that floats your boat.
I do not use Alexa etc so can not comment on that, but for the price I would challenge anyone to find a better screen. For me, 10/10 very happy!

Also the TV's FreeSat tuner is faulty on these models, most HD channels have signal issues.
I bought a LG a while back and it had access to literally everything I needed so I didn't need 3+ remotes lying about. That's my idea of a Smart TV. This is not.
I'm not the best to describe how good the picture or sound is. It's a nice looking OLED panel and heard worse overall it fits the bill. However not having basic catch-up apps and LG not making it obvious it doesn't have them is just outrageous.
Im in two minds if I will be sending it back, unfortunately the 2019 model doesn't have freesat (only freeview play) but has the catch-up apps. So either way I would have to by a separate box or dongle of some description.
Very disappointed.
UPDATE:- Sent back in the end and downgraded it from 3 to 1 star. While LG customer services said that they are looking into getting the catch up services though a update it wasn't a definite. However, that wasn't the biggest issue. Nearly all FreeSat HD channels have signal issues which I can confirm is definitely a problem with the TV (Brand new dish professionally installed, signal double checked and channels fine on separate cheap FreeSat box)
This issue has been mentioned in other reviews and AV Forums. Not good enough from LG.

But feel misleading marketing about alexa voice control.
You have to buy expensive magic controller that is not included.
Bought Amazon echo to control, not user friendly not all that compatible
Sending for magic remote not convinced it will make things better
LG spoiling ship for a happoth of tar.
Very disappointing.

The TV is great. You can go straight to YouTube, Amazon, Netflixs, ITV hub etc. I don't subscribe to a TV licence as don't watch live TV or BBC iPlayer. TV set up still based upon channel set up which is redundant but I guess that's universal.
Still working on linking to Alexa. To do this you do have to allow 3rd party sharing of data and outside of the UK.
However - and this is the biggie for me. The REMOTE is so basic :-(. I thought I was getting one with a little mouse type controller, like a friend has. It is shown like this on the LG materials too - with a caveat that you might not get as shown. Indeed. So have a TV with great functionality but frustrated by searching limited to incredibly painful scrolling for letter by letter by forward and back keys. Soooo frustrated. If the TV wasn't already up and so huge to ship I would be looking at a return.
