I needed to replace an aging "speaker box" that was shedding its cover in my computer room. My wife was threatening to dicvorce me otherwise. We went to the AppleStore at the Falls Mall in Miami. With the assistance of German, one of the really helpful Apple sales staff, I bought the JBL Creature Speakers.The speaker was set up in less than 5 minutes. The color coded inputs mean that you cannot go wrong with the setup. The look of the system is great. The sound is crisp and clear. The bass and treble knobs are stylish. The volume knobs...the volume knobs....oh wait, there are no volume knobs.Of course, I did not read the User's Guide. I looked for volume knobs. There are none. There are two touch sensitive buttons that make every volume knob that I have ever used seem outdated. It is a nice touch to an already well designed product.Now I need to get one for the office......

I bought these sweet speakers 2 weeks ago - I replaced my BIG AND BULKY 100W stereo system from phillips and I feel that the sound quality is BETTER (weird huh?). I think there is better reproduction of the higher frequency sounds compared to my old system.PROS: They are great. The two side ones are small and unobtrusive, and the large one can be hidden from view without loss of sound quality. These are beautifully designed - they LOOK GOOD sitting on my desk. Also - the volume controls are very easy to use - just gently tap the surface and it responds. The speakers fill my living room and kitchen with excellent sound - we also use them for movies.CONS: no remote - so you need to be right there to control volume. Also, the power button is on the big speaker, which I have hidden behind my monitor - this is somewhat inconvienent. That's the old downsides.Buy this thing! It is a great set of speakers.

Look good. Sound poor. I'm far from an audiophile, but it's obvious to anyone that these speakers were made with design in mind, with sound as more of an after-thought. Tinny and hollow, music is unenjoyable to listen to on this system. Spend the extra money on a worthwhile system unless you plan on using these only for gaming and possibly movies, if you don't mind the tenuous sound you'll get.

These have a great sound and a great look. The only problem is the speaker cords are short so you can't place them to far from the subwoofer, but don't let that keep you from ordering, they are very nice.

This Creature II was a replacement for the factory provided speakers for our Dell, which had failed and were not under warranty any longer. The JBL purchase turned out to be a very pleasant surprise overall. The quality of sound is definitely a step up from the previous set.Only one detraction is the AC power "brick" is surprisingly bulky and becomes almost too hot to touch after being attached to power.

The speakers and sub-woofer do a fine job of sound reproduction, both with my MacBook and also connected to my headphone jack on my HD TV. The only concern I have encountered is static electricioty in very dry weather which can possibly cause problems when adjusting the volume control. I experience this issue when I was adjusting my JBL Sound stage with the same type of volume control and some how caused a short circuit to occur.

We bought these speakers for our daughter to take to college. It is small and has good, though not excellent sound. We have another JBL product (the JBL spot) that we love, but it was twice the price.

I bought a Jbl creature II 3-piece powered speaker system ,the sound is good,and the price is good too.then I recommend my two friend,they bought too.they feel great joy at the sound and the price.

I bought these speakers because they match my cpu and the tweeters are very small and don't take up much room. They also sound alright--I watched a couple of movies with the new speakers and they sound good.BUT, for some reason--I'm still not sure what the deal was, the tweeters were very frustrating to get working. When I plugged the tweeters in--the LED lights weren't coming on--so no sound. I finally got them to work by playing with the wires and unplugging them then plugging them back in. JBL has needs to get that fixed.A bitter-sweet purchase. And not a bad price.

One of the speaker does not work. Volume up and down buttons look fake. Sound is not clear. i will not recomend this item at all.

I have given these speakers as gifts on two occasions and own them myself as well. The sound quality is excellent and they're easy on the eyes also. In my opinion, there is no better system in this price range.

I came across this little ditty at the Mac store in Ginza (and now regret I didn't get it at Amazon who have it for almost half the price!) Still I had to get it. I remember Small computer speakers from that recent age when they were synonmous for cr*ppy listening. These seemed quite juicy !But how would it hold up on MY tiny i-pod I wondered... especially keeping in mind that the bass response on some i-pods do seem a bit weak at times. The answer... Unbelievable. Turned my i-pod into a home stereo system overnight! I put on some JB as well as Jazz -- the bass was really kicking. Overall range and dynamic great.... And the big treat was with FELA KUTI - - I could really hear Tony Allen's killer work on the kick drums...And a few added pluses - - aside from the speakers being magnetically shielded (no worry about placing them near the computer screen), you can place the larger bass speaker wherever you want (sound is omnidirectional.) Of course its best sitting in between the two tiny speakers, but even from across the room the sound isn't that bad. Overall power and volume won't shatter windows... but neither do I find myself playing them at top volume either. You can also mute the volume instantly by simultanouesly touching the right and left volume controls.BOSS proved that BIGGER is not necessariy better...JBL is proving that you can get a nice computer/i-pod speaker system with really great sound and not putting too much of a dent in the wallet.SOLD !

My computer's sound was just mediocre . . . I checked on the Apple Discussion Boards, and many people over there recommended these speakers. Then I looked at the reviews here. Almost all seemed very favorable.I ordered them yesterday. Got them today. Hooked up in 5 minutes. No configuration, just plug and play. I'm stunned! Now I'm keeping them way less than half-way powered up, and I know the neighbors can hear me three doors down. Sound Quality is excellent as well. I'm thrilled.

I was a little skeptical when I made this purchase, due in part to some of the other reviews and the low price of the speaker system. I have to say that I'm very comfortable with the purchase. The units are stylish in design, have good sound quality, and are worth more to me than what I paid for them.My only criticism of the speakers would be the volume adjustments. One "feature" of the speakers themselves are push-button volume adjusters...you must tap the increase volume/decrease volume buttons to adjust the sound. Not a lot of finite adjustment available; adjustment through the computer sound control is better. The sub-woofer volume adjustment is bullet-shaped and relatively small; difficult for my larger fingers to make delicate adjustments with. Their slick metal coating looks great, but makes it difficult to get a grip on.Overall, these are great speakers for the non audiophile who simply wants to enhance the stock system that came with their computer and isn't over sensitive about sound quality. My hearing isn't fantastic, so I cannot speak definitively about the quality, but there's no hum, no static and very little distortion at higher volumes/high bass levels...

These speakers look really nice and are very well made. I am an audio enthusiast and bought these based on reviews. They get very good ratings on a number of sites. They sound very "hollow" to me though. There is no mid-range to speak of. I wish they sounded better because they have little LED lights on the satellites which is very cool.

The two main speakers are basically the same ones that came with my iMac (G4 model), and they sound very good. I picked up this set for my living room, and simply attached my iPod's dock to the bass unit, where all the cables converge. That's my stereo now. The gray models' color is slightly cool and is glossy but not metallic in finish. It doesn't quite match any of my other electronics, but it's not an awful mismatch either. The dials, controls and the covers for the speaker memberanes are almost all chrome-silver covered plastic. The bell shapes grow on you. Small integral pedestals in the molds hold them about 1/4" off whatever surface they're on, so vibrations are minimised fairly well for most settings. The two main speakers are quite small, and can tuck away fairly easily, though their bell shapes don't make them the best bookends. The subwoofer is smaller than some, but not too small that it affects their output.The speakers pick up plenty of detail from the music for most listeners, though if you're really trained, I'm sure they're not nearly as good as more professional gear. In my experience, the bass unit is maybe a tiny bit too aggressive at its normal level, but that depends on your music too. More recent music is being mastered to emphasize bass, and it can drown out midtones and treble. The level you can pump up the treble, bass and volume is almost ridiculous, so be careful if you have pranksters in the house who like to fiddle with the controls. :-)The volume is controlled by touch-sensitive buttons on the right speaker. There are no moving parts; it's like the iPod's scroll wheel in that sense. They're sensitive to touch and you can just hold your finger on the "+" or "-" buttons to keep changing the volume, no annoying tapping needed. The volume shifts are noticeable with each click, but are not too different that you'll have that problem where the voume seems either too quiet or too loud with nothing in between. The controls for the treble and bass are located on the subwoofer. This seemed inconvenient at first since you usually put that piece out of the way, but I never touch the two settings once I put them where I liked them. Others who want to fiddle more might find this to be a problem, though they might also find that two simple equalizers isn't good enough either. I find the default mid-range setting to be right for both. Basically, I trust whoever is mastering the tracks in the studio to get the equalizers right for me (even if it means a lot of bass). The dials "fall" into place at the mid-range easily although there aren't any visual indicators of their current setting. You have to "feel" your way around the dial. Again, if someone wants to interrupt your pacemaker with high bass, this thing makes it easy. ;-)The AC adaptor brick is kind of big. All the cables and their plugs on the bass unit are distinguished by color and shape -- square peg, square hole fit kinda thing. The cables are 4'-6' long, I can't remember exactly. Long enough so that my subwoofer is on the floor and the two speakers are about 30" higher and about 6' apart with the cables still slack.Considering that some computers get the equivalent speakers already, and that even without the subwoofer, they get good bass, this won't always be a good choice, especially at this price. But for my purposes, or for those who got cheapo speakers with their computer, these fit the bill nicely.

These speakers are small and look cool, but they do not do the job whether hooked to a computer or an iPod directly. They cannot handle any amount of volume. They are too tinny and the bass is too flat. The combination of the speakers really does not work. I boutght them for my house or office to simply listen to music while doing work and they were not good for even that. Go with Altec Lansing. That is a much better product.

I got these speakers for my iPod and thought they would work great. They look cool but mine broke two days later. I returned them and got my money back. Also, the sound is bad.

I could not believe the sound quality I received from these speakers. The "one touch" volume controls on the speakers was absolutely great. I recommend these to any person who enjoys listening to all kinds of music. I watched the movie "Happy Feet", on my computer with the speakers and the surround sound will knock you off your "feet".

I got these speakers because of the combination it madE with my mac. The speakers sound great, this is what I really needed because they are not too big and the sound is perfect for me. Probably if you are really fan of loud music you should look for something else but even though, these speakers are perfect if you want quality, good sound and design.

This is an excellent set of speakers for such a small price. It fits nicely in my room and is quite stylish with my decor as well as providing great sound. I use it with my iPod nano and I couldn't have asked for a better sound system for the price. I highly recommend it if you need speakers for a smaller space. It wouldn't fill a house with adequate sound, but is great in a bedroom, office or kitchen area.
