I was a prior fan of jawbone after using the first one on the market. Decided to go back to it and get the era. Bought it last week and read that I should create an account on mytalk, update the headset and download apps if I wanted any. Headset charged and worked fine when I then tried to do the update (only one hour later). Unfortunately the updater has some glitch and it fried the device making it unusable in any fashion.Returned it the next morning thinking I got a bad one. Same thing happened on a different computer and OS (subsequent search of forums indicated this was a known problem and only recommendation was to try a different computer). Second new era device destroyed in 24 hours.Spent last three days with tech support providing detailed info on everything including computer hardware used. No solutions given but they finally reluctantly acknowledged they were aware of the complaints on their forum dating back to January.Couldn't give me a solution so I returned the second headset and got an icon. Works flawlessly and no update issues on my talk.They are now offering me a free one if I will work with their tech people on the phone as we do a step by step analysis to see if I can get it to update.Do a search of the jawbone forum for era updater failure and be forewarned,

I bought this to be used with my new iPhone 4S.Pros:-Great audio quality for music and phone calls-Pretty good range-Fairly comfortableCons:-Doesn't interact well with the iPhone 4S/Siri-Annoying voice prompts on the ERA that are redundant with Siri; if you disable the prompts you lose your caller ID and battery indications-Phone won't do text alert noise when paired to blue tooth so I don't hear texts if I'm not wearing itOverall Assessment:Wouldn't recommend this to the iPhone 4S users yet. They say that it's an updatable bluetooth but so far they haven't responded to any of the iPhone 4S user feedback for improvements and haven't promised any software updates on their support forums. It may not be worth the money for the awkward functionality with Siri/iPhone 4S.

I used to despise talking on the phone. It's hard for me to stand still. And holding the phone on shoulder was too painful. So, I decided to get a blue tooth headset. I liked the design, the tap-tap feature and the 'noise assassin'. So I ordered the Jawbone Era in Midnight. It is very attractive and not too flashy! You can choose the 'voice' too. I chose one that reminds me of Craig Ferguson! LOL The tap-tap feature is my favorite part. And I have had no complaints from the other end of phone conversations. Have been very pleased with it. Then to make it even more awesome, it still works after dropping it into a bucket of water, a week ago, and in the bathtub last night! I turned it off, shook it, turned it on and it worked like nothing had happened! Amazing!I am using it on a Droid X. There is a slight delay between, "voice dialing"..............."say a command" I wish it was a little quicker, but no major problem. The only thing I didn't like about the Era is the fit, for me just wasn't there. I ordered some Jabra Eargels on Amazon, and the largest one, (over the small round one that comes with Era) works just perfectly. I wear it all day.It makes driving much safer and when I'm taking care of my grand baby, it is invaluable!

I am a UPS driver and need the best bluetooth technology available. I have tried 5 other bluetooth models over the last 2 years, most recent being the Jawbone ICON, and my search has culminated to this new piece here, the ERA. The problem with the icon was its subpar volume when playing media, since I stream pandora from my cell phone for many hours a day. The new ERA is substantially louder and of much better quality. I cant put it on its loudest level because its too much, and I never thought I would have this much welcomed problem.I know the phone touts all this tap tap shake shake stuff, which is neat, but I just use it the regular old fashioned way.As for call quality, its outstanding. The phone is light and fits snug and comfortably with the jabra ear gel inserts I bought for the ICON but also fit perfect on the ERA. I do not like any of the custom earpieces it comes with.The reason I wrote the review is because of the conditions I put this thing through. I drive the UPS truck, with an obnoxiously loud diesel engine roaring under my nose, and both doors are open so you can imagine the wind noise, and the ERA handles it like a champ. Its loud and clear on my end, and everyone I call says its sounds good on their end. Its a grand slam!!

First let me say that this is probably my 8th earpiece and as far as the technology has come, I still hate the "Borg" look. The Era looks pretty much like the first Jawbone, square and unattractive. Their fame was achieved by their claim of it picking up vibrations from your jaw for superior performance... if that's true or not I cannot say, all I know is I speak with my mouth and not my jawbone! I'll also say I've used $40 "headsets" (as they're called) and found better performance than the Jawbone 2 I owned.I was using a speakerphone in my car (on the visor) and loved it until it didn't work with my new phone. So I bought the Jabra Stone2 mainly because the look of it on my ear wasn't that bad. Unfortunately, it never sat in my ear right so I returned it for the Jawbone Era. As I already knew, I hated the look of it. But, I must say, it works great. The noise cancellation, fit, internet apps, VOLUME (a big issue) all work great. So until the earpiece Will Smith is wearing in iRobot is a reality, I guess we'll have to look like aliens. In conclusion, you will not be disappointed with its performance but I gave it four stars just because it looks like all the others - like something is sticking out of your ear!

Like many reviewers, I have tried a plethora of bluetooth headsets and have a draw of old models to attest to this fact. I have had every model of the Jawbone as they tend to get better and better with each release. However, this is definitely not the case with the ERA. It is far inferior to the ICON and in my opinion a total waste of money. First, you have to continually update the firmware to deal with poor sound, and other glitches. Once you get past the updates, if the headset doesn't work you have to call support to get the secret reboot key sequences to try to get the headset to work right. Yes - you have to reboot the headset. Is this windows or something? Just about every person I talk to complains of the static and how poor it sounds. I went back to using the ICON and all works well.So save your money on this Jawbone and either get an ICON or something different - but please don't get an ERA. I should have listened to the others that pointed this out before I bought one.

I've have every earpiece Aliph has produced and can say that this one is beyond a doubt the best to date. In fact, I wouldn't say I was particularly pleased with any of their previous efforts. I felt they were better than the competition but left a lot lacking. The Era is louder than the Icon and the extra length helps it stay in contact with the cheek where the Icon was a bit short. Obviously everyone has their own fit requirements, but for Aliph earpieces to work well they really need to be in contact with your cheek.While the earpieces tend to work extremely well for me for a month or two then start having issues, Aliph's support is pretty darn good. They always walk you through the typical troubleshooting steps (reset, repair headset) but when that doesn't resolve your issue they're quick to issue an RMA within the first 12 months and replace the equipment.My only real complaint is that they don't sell the ear loops individually. It kills me to pay $9.99 + shipping for a fit pack when all I need is a $.20 loop.Pros:* Great fit options for once (for my head, anyway!)* Much better sound* Best build quality yet* Finally, a carry case!* Great support* A2DP (was supported in the Icon, but not sure about previous models) is very handy.Cons:* Price* Price* Price* No Android battery meter (they're way overdue with this!)* Not crazy about the choices for the 'personalities'* I find the additional apps they provide useless or annoying (require 3rd party agreements)* Ear loops not sold individually

Had high hopes for this high-end, high priced headset. Feature list is impressive and the noise cancellation was superb. If only I could hear the party on the other end of the phone without all the hissing and crackling, and if only it would actually register with and stay connected to my phone.Looking forward to the day when companies implement Bluetooth with some consistency. This is not a brand new technology, just more promises than actual product.Jawbone got one star as their tech support was wonderful. Patient, and really spent the time with me to try to get things to work. Kudos!

this review is not for the product itself. i bought new from amazon. it came in a bubble wrapped plastic baggie from amazon and the ERA has permanent marker markings on it. far from retail. amazon is slipping in QC - this is the third issue I've had with them this year. will update if they make it right.Update:Amazon made this right, new product in a new package. Thanks Amazon.

The only reason I don't give this product 5 stars is the price; it was so new to the market when I purchased it there were no discounts to be found.My Jawbone ERA replaces a Jawbone Prime. The Prime was a fine headset but the ERA is significantly better. It's easier to turn on and off (always tricky with the Prime), easier to match with my HTC EVO (I only had to shake it four times next to the phone and I was up and running), and it has better noice cancelling. It also fits my ear better. I do a lot of work from my car and this is headset provides me the best call quality I've ever had. The MyTalk feature, while admittedly something of a toy, turns out to be fun. Some reviews knock it for not having a separate volume control but that's not been a issue for me. The fact that it uses a micro USB connection for charging is also a big plus.Bottom line? If I lost it, I would buy it again.

I just purchased the Silver Lining Era on february 25, 2011. I have both an apple iphone4 and a blackberry 8900. The device is great on both phones. Pairing is a snao. Sound quality is the best I have experienced yet on a bluetooth earpiece, although I must admit I have been a loyal jawbone owner. The earbuds provided cover a good spectrum and the era fits like a glove for me. Functionality across all programs is great. I've even paired the device with my HP netbook. Now the catch.... although it can pair as a hands free for something like 8 different devices simutaneously, this does not apply to the stereo function. So do have to turn on my devices in a certain order - the one I want to hear music from first. Other than than little fine print the era is great. Now they just need to make the jawbone the first bluetooth earpiece with gps - I'm tired of misplacing it!

I bought this as a replacement to the Jawbone Icon which I loved. I think the software is still buggy. It randomly disconnects and I have to turn the unit off and back on to get it to reconnect. Never had a problem with the icon. After Aliph updates the firmware a couple of times it will probably work better. Also beware they changed the size of the ear buds from those on the icon so if the icon fit perfect like it did in my case then the era may not work as well with the ear buds that it came with. The tapping was a nice feature to answer and hang up especially when working with gloves on. Didn't notice a difference with the speaker or noise assassin. Name Caller Id is a joke. You have to manually enter the names and numbers that you want it to say and only get 10.Gary.

I purchased the Jawbone Era after I tried the Jawbone Icon and neither seem to be Blackberry friendly.I've used the Era for approximately 3 weeks and its just not been very reliable. I have had lots of people complain about background noise and a echo sound. I've also experienced it not picking up my calls, I can just hang up from a call using the Jawbone Era and two minutes later my phone will ring and the Jawbone totally misses the call and I have to use my handset to answer the call so much for hands free! Both Jawbone products had great battery life and are extremely comfortable to wear I wore them for a ten hour shift and almost forgot I was wearing them.

Nice looking.Fits securely and comfortable.Excellent sound. The loudest and clearest of any BT headset I have tried.Excellent noise reduction. The best yet.Nice apps and voices available free through their app store. Fun and also useful.The streaming audio feature is just super handy for listening to audio and video podcasts wirelessly from my iPhone 4 and iPad. Most BT headsets cannot do that. This one can.Good build quality. Handy actual on/off switch. Nice standard micro USB connector for charging and updating. Easy solid pairing. Shows the battery level on my iPhone 4 screen.This is truly the BEST jawbone unit yet and definitely one of the BEST BT headsets around. Worth it !

I like this headset, it has several different options and ear bud sizes so that you can adjust it to your ear size. Its has a little bracket to go over the ear if you don't just like it hanging in your ear. The sound quality is great, both from a talking standpoint and being able to hear the other person. Its very fancy and has a bit of a learning curve since tapping it or shaking it are all shortcuts to do things. It seem to have good battery life so far. It was easy to pair even for someone who's not super tech savvy.

This bluetooth headset works better than any I've had. Most people have no idea I'm using a headset. The sound is clear and easily understood. Comfortable fit was easy with the numerous choices offered in the package. I use it all the time and hardly know it's in my ear.
