When I needed to purchase a network card for my Windows 7 64bit machine I was reading reviews and found mixed information on whether each product would or would not work on Windows 7 64bit. Even this product had mixed reviews.I decided to check the Windows 7 hardware compatibility list and found it should work. I decided to purchase.When I got the product I plugged it into the slot where it belongs closed the case turned the machine on and that is all it took. Windows 7 with all major updates had no issues with this product at all. Microsoft had native drivers for this item that installed with out any interaction from me, just like when you plug in a USB flash drive.If really want to check out the compatibility you can look at this page on Microsoft.(...)

A recent storm fried a couple ethernet ports and cards at my church including the onboard ethernet in a Dell Vostro 460. Unfortunately, the 460 only has PCI-E slots and our stash of PCI ethernet cards was useless.The Intel Gb PCI-E was a great, cost effective solution for us. I disabled the dead onboard ethernet and installed this in a free PCI-E slot and was back on the network in minutes. The OS is Win 7 64 bit and it already had a driver for the card. I ran Windows Update and it found an updated driver which I installed also.

The onboard MOBO LAN in one of our office computers was going out resulting in some network issues. So we installed this LAN card to fix the issue. Worked perfectly. Over the last 20 years, we have used a number of different brands of network cards but over the last 10 years have used Intel Lan cards exclusively as we have always been able to trust them for quality and reliability. I'm not sure they are the fastest, but for near bulletproof reliability, we have always been able to count on them to keep our business running.

My new Dell XPS came with a network 'card' built into the motherboard. I had a recurring problem when network access eventually became intermittant. I called Dell support and after several tries at a fix, Dell finally sent a replacement motherboard, under the initial 1 year warranty. In a few weeks it, too, started to give the same intermittant failures. No one at Dell could fix my problem.My solution - I bought and installed this Intel card. Sure, it takes up a slot (1 of 3) but I'm on-line now. BTW - I got the Blue Screen of Death a few times after I installed this Intel device. I (1) disabled the driver for the Broadcom 'card' on the motherboard and (2) found a driver update for this Intel card. I've been running fault-free for over a month.

Its very basic and windows will install the driver automaticially when you install it into your computer. Very easy to do. I have a Dell XPS 8300 the network card that came with the machine absolutely sucks, this has worked everytime for me.

Installed directly into available PCI-Express slot with computer unplugged. Plug a Gigabit Ethernet cable directly from my Linksys router into this Intel card. After turning the power back on, the computer correctly identified this network card, installed the driver, and recognized the 1.0 G LAN connection. Very pleased.

I installed this card in my Dell with windows 7 (64) which took 5 minutes. It worked without the need to install drivers or make any other changes. It seems much faster than the adapter that was built into the computer's motherboard.

Granted the price is a little higher than others.However, I bought two cheap PCIe Gigabit Cards ($7 ea.) and was expecting them to work.I was pretty much wrong, could have taken the $14.00 and thrown it out of the window, same effect.So, I decided to get a brand name and was not disappointed with the product.Installed, fired computer (Linux Server Box) up and here it was, no reboots, hang ups or anything else.It just worked right out of the box.I am happy with the product.I did not do any scientific tests to verify the design, far beyond my scope.It works, that's all I have to tell.The fact that a low profile mounting bracket was included, was absolutely great for my application.

The storms knocked out my modem and my Ethernet port, because the modem was not plugged in the surge protector.To make sure this fits in your PC, open the case of your PC and see if you have the necessary ports. Most likely you will have two them.Plug this card in one of them, and disable the old Ethernet card.This card was plug and play, and Windows configured it by itself.This card is as fast as the one that went out. I performed a speed test and my connection is as fast as before.I chose to go with a PCI card rather than a USB adapter because it doesn't take up USB ports, it fits with the PC, and USB adapters are not as fast.Order this card with no fear; it will work nicely.

I purchased this card for a home server whose motherboard did not come with gigabit ethernet connectivity. The server is a Ubuntu Linux box, and installation was as easy as plugging the card into a PCI-Express port, and inserting the cable, no configuration necessary! This will be my go-to card whenever I need gigabit ethernet.

The card comes all alone. I found drivers on Intel site but the readme.txt told me that it did not work on Vista 64. They were right the drivers never loaded and I had to return the card.

I opened the case, plugged it into an available PCI slot and Windows found it right away. The only potential difficulty is that you need an Internet connection to get the driver for Windows XP. I just used the old existing motherboard 10/100 connection that this board was replacing, but if the new board is your only connection, you'll have a problem. Once Windows installed the board, I switched the Ethernet wire to the new board and got a 1 gigabit connection right away. I disabled the old connection through control panel and was done.

This card has been around for a while and Intel doesn't even list Windows 7 in the supported operating systems. But basic NICs are getting hard to find (I suppose because of network integration onto motherboards), so I decided to give this a shot since others had said that they had had good luck with Win 7. Since the onboard networking had failed the computer didn't have access to the Internet to download online drivers. That meant that it had to already be in Windows 7 or it wasn't going to happen. I'm pleased to report that on boot the card was recognized and installation took place without a hitch. Up and running in about a minute's time. A good little inexpensive replacement for onboard networking.

My integrated network adapter died on my home computer, HP Pavilion Elite HPE. This fixed the problem and is cheap. Works better than the integrated one. Easy to install and set up. Don't be afraid to open up case and fix something simple.

Got this card in the mail today. I got it installed in the machine in 5 minutes. The computer recognized it immediately and installed software no problem. 1000% improvment over terrible integrated motherboard network. Highly recommend and a very fair price for performance and the fact its Intel.

Outstanding NIC. I put this card into my Windows Home Server 2011 and started working without a hitch. Great speeds, no disc, minimal packaging.I attempted to get a Realtek based NIC to play nice with my server, but couldn't get it to work. Spending $10 more on an Intel card was so worth the time and effort I would have spent on a different card. I couldn't be happier.

Assembled a complete computer system only to find out the LAN port on the motherboard was dead. Opted to use this add-on card and continue to use the system rather than tear it apart and restart after RMA'ing the MB. Glad I did.This card improves upon the flexibility of the LAN features vs the motherboard's built-in. And like all Intel cards it's built to last--not flimsy/fragile like so many other brand LAN cards.Great add-on for those needing LAN or looking to replace/upgrade onboard LAN that is flaky or broken.

Works great windows 7 detected the card and installed the newest drivers automatically.Copied a file back and forth to my homeserver 100MB+ in less than 2 seconds.Bought this card to replace the problematic Bigfoot Network Embedded ethernet I had nothing but headaches with Bigfoot Network. Stay away from Bigfoot Network E2100.EDIT:1/21/2013Ethernet card still kicking butt working great still ZERO problems I'm so glad I bought it.

Great product as I only buy Intel products. no software to installand windows 7 had no problem installing it right out of the box.there is software to install if you want to upgrade the boot Rom chipso you can have option to run config at boot up or in windows.And it has a transfer rate of a gig. Nuff Said!!

This item replaces a competing product that never did get the correct driver software installed - BOTH under Windows 7 AND Linux Mint 13!The board installed without problem (once I found the PCIe socket on my mobo :-) ) and simply works both under Linux and Windows. No special drivers, no special adjustments required.Motherboard is an ASUS "Sandy Bridge" P8Z68-M-PRO running an I5 at 3.3Ghz

I bought an off-brand GigE PCI board and all that gave me was 80Mbps. I replaced it with this Intel board and the speed jumped to 400Mbps (which was good for my outdated PC and environment). If you want to go with cheaper brands, make sure you test their speed. To be safe, pay a few dollars more for the brand chipset.

I have an AMD phenom II with a Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H, the integrated NIC was blown by a thunderstorm, so i needed to replace the NIC. First i used an Realtek RTL8169/8110 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter but it doesn't work with gigabit switches; weird, that thing works on 10/100 networks but not reliable; so i bought this little NIC: Intel Gigabit CT PCI-E Network Adapter EXPI9301CTBLK.The installation was easy: open the case, put the card in the appropiate slot (PCI-E 1x, but it works with longer PCIE slots), put the screw to fasten the card and close the case.After then i start windows, (I'm using windows 7, i also tested with windows server 2008R2), it detects and installs the appropriate driver, so i just need to configure the network parameters. So long the card works fine.

It was easy to install, and it works well. I did not perform speed tests like other contributors did for their reviews, but it handles the 50 GB speed of my Internet connection without any problem.

I bought this NIC because the on-board NIC on my Gigabyte Mobo did not work with VmWare VSphere 5. The Intel Gigabit CT PCI-E Network Adapter works perfectly, so I'm all good now!!!!

NIC was picked up immediately by win7, no touch install.I can move files now at 48 mb/s at 50% of 1 Gb pipe.My other hardware may be a limiting factor.Previous top speed was 10 mb/s at 100% utilization of 100 mb pipeline.

I got this NIC because I read that it is better to have a seperate card do the job rather than the onboard NIC so I got this and I can say it is better. I got better consistent speeds along with a bit lower ping. If your a gamer I would suggest it is well worth it.

The gigabit network adapter on my motherboard stopped working, so I replaced it with this one. Works great. It actually seems a little faster than my motherboard adapter, although I have no testing to back that up.

I've got this in my Arch Linux file server, speeds are good, I had no trouble getting it working under Linux. Zero configuration was required so this is definitely a good choice for a Linux box. I transfer a good ~50GB per day on this since I've got it and had zero issues.

Item works as advertised, but that's a gift. It was in a padded envelope with no paper work and had fallen out of a clear plastic container. No where does it say what the item is or number. No box. Could be used at new price.

Just got the card to replace my ailing motherboard-based Realtech and the difference is amazing. The RTL card couldn't manage more than 2 Mbit/sec on receive and threw about 100 packet errors per second. This Intel card showed none of that, no errors, 200+ Mbit/sec on SSH, everything perfect. Best $32 I've spent on this computer.
