I was skeptical about the SSHDs, especially since its more expensive(around $1 per gig) than a traditional HDD. Once it was installed, and my OS and files were transfered, I booted up and WOW!!!! It was up and fully ready in 20 secs as opposed to 1-2 mins. I HIGHLY recommend upgrading to a SSHD instead of getting a new laptop!

I was running OCZ Agility 3 60GB RAID 0 in my gaming rig and had an annoying issue where a drive was not recognized on boot causing a "Failed" message. I'd have to reboot and hope for "Success." After taking the array down to flash to v2.22 firmware, an OS reinstall only to have the same issue, I was DONE. I sold them off and bought a 120GB Intel 520. I was only expecting an end to the drive recognition issue. The speed increase is noticable and welcome! Everything from OS installation, to surfing and gaming is faster and smoother. A single Agility 3 scored 7.6 on Window Experience index. In Raid 0 they scored 7.8. A single Intel 520 scores 7.9!You have a lot of nerve Intel doing away with my SF-2281 issues AND providing a performance increase over OCZ's in Raid. Seriously though, very impressed Intel; you've gained an SSD fan. Wish 520 was released a year ago..

This (as ANY SSD) is MUCH faster than a regular hard drive. But Intel makes solidly good products. I feel that the money spent is well worth it.

So very glad I spent the extra money on picking up an SSD for my main drive. I also have a back-up HDD for mass storage, but I'm running OS/all games/all main programs off this SSD and its about 80-85% full and boot time is less than 15 seconds. I will never go back to just an HDD thats for sure! Highly recommend this product to those buying SSD's

Other tasks that would make the cursor pinwheel do not happen now. I also have 8GB of RAM so this little mac is moving along nicely.Highly recommend this drive for its speed.

I can't say that this works that well. I installed this into my desktop, and the transfer went without a hitch. The honeymoon was over the first night. The drive would continually hang for minutes on end and then resume. Eventually, it would hang and would require a hard reboot. My word of advice would be to wait until a new firmware revision comes out to address this issue or better yet wait for the revised SandForce controller to come out in the fall. I replaced it with a Samsung 830 256GB which Amazon also carries. So far that has worked without a hitch. NB: The drive is not AES256 compliant as claimed by Intel. Apparently it is a controller issue.

All my computers -- two desktop, one laptop -- now have SSDs housing their O/S and programs, and this update is simply the best way I've found of increasing my systems' performance, for the most part to a really startling degree. I bought 520 series Intel drives for all of these partly because of the 5-year warranty, and partly because I have some confidence that Intel products will integrate well with my other components. So far, I have no complaints, and having a responsive computer wherever I've working has been a very good way of reducing my stress level!
