I am a software developer and i am very happy with this purhase. The screen shipped the same very same day i ordered it. I put in the order at 2pm, they shipped it at 4:30pm. I picked ground shipping, yet it only took 3 business days. The item was brand new as stated in the description and so far everything works greatly. The resolution is very high and it is well worth the money. This is different from the HP ZR2475 monitor, so be careful. The only difference is that ZR2475 has a higher color gamut percentage and few additional ports like HDMI.

I discovered the limitations of my previous (TN-technology) monitor when I compared photos with my Nikon D7000 camera monitor. The vivid colors (especially yellows) could not be duplicated on the computer. This HP monitor (in this admittedly non-scientific test) solves that issue.PROS: 1) good color rendition in the sRGB color space out of the box, 2) relatively low price, 3) DVDs play well - no response time issues, 4) stand is steady.CONS: 1) (minor) factory brightness setting requires adjustment- brightness needs to be backed down to near minimum.

I am not a video/graphics professional, just need to get general use out of the computer system. That said, the image on this monitor seems nicer than the one on the Dell 2005FPW that it replaced, and I did not have to make any adjustments to it whatsoever- instantly optimized settings (for my purposes, anyway) out of the box in Win 7. Also, as noted, it has the increasingly rare to find 16:10 ratio, which gives more screen real estate to work with. My feeling is that if you are going to put this large a monitor on your desk, then might as well make the best use of it. The only trade-off would possibly be small black bars on the edges when viewing HD video? I use this for business apps, so that's not really an issue for me, anyway. Just need to get the HP speaker bar (NQ576AA) to get basic sound from it. Finally, no bad pixels on mine.

Great image quality, bright, and with decent menu navigation. Reasonably attractive and reasonably priced. Side-by-side with my old Dell 2004WFP, the ZR24 is *much* brighter (both are set to max), presumably because the Dell is 7 years old and I would expect they dim over time? The ZR is also bigger, of course, but otherwise the two are still pretty comparable. My only gripe was that, by default, it overlays an annoying Monitor Status dialog over the image for several seconds every time it turns on. Fortunately, this was easily disabled in the hardware menus.

Like reviewer Big Fudge, I'm a programmer who wants real estate, 16:10, and sharp text. I haven't yet graduated to multi-monitor displays but was just looking for an upgrade replacement for my trusty old 4:3 19" Dell UltraSharp LCD (1905FP). I looked first at the new Dell 24" UltraSharp (U2410) - it's not only about $140 more than this HP (probably for features I don't need) but also I was scared away by lots of problems reported in the forums (e.g., hardforum) even after a firmware revision. Since I'm not a gamer or serious photographer, I'm not sure how many of the "problems" I would have even noticed, but with this HP available as an alternative I decided not to take a chance on the Dell.I've had it for about a week, and at 1920x1200 I'm still getting used to all the room: 76% more area to work with compared to the 1280x1024 on my old Dell. At 0.270 mm dot pitch, the HP's text is a bit smaller than the 0.294 on my old Dell, but still a very nice size for working efficiently, and *SHARP*. And while graphics, photos, and videos are not my priority, they all look great (to me) on this monitor.I would have given this five stars, but I did a quick, simple screen test and found two defective pixels. One is visible only with a pure blue screen, so basically I never see it, not even with the classic Windows XP deep blue desktop. The other pixel is only visible with either a green or white screen, so this one is more likely to be visible because of the white space present in many applications; however, it's so tiny that it's actually difficult to find if I look for it, so I hardly ever notice it and am not distracted by it under normal working conditions, so it's not worth the time and trouble to try to return the monitor.

Bought this monitor because it is one of the few 24" screens that actually has a full 1920x1200 resolution (not the smaller 1920x1080) and features a good IPS panel type. The monitor is packed well and is very sturdy when assembled. Height adjustments work well. However, the monitor I got seemed to have slightly uneven color distribution, the left half of the screen seemed to be slightly purplish/bluish while the right side looked fine. There was also a stuck red pixel.I ended up returning it and getting a Dell 23" UltraSharp (1920x1080). I do notice the missing vertical resolution, but it was almost $100 cheaper and featured the same panel (but with no suck pixels this time). The color uniformity still looks a little funny (bottom left corner has an orange-ish tint and bottom right corner has a purplish tint), but otherwise it's doing its job quite well. These monitors were replacing a GATEWAY FPD2485W with an S-PVA panel. The S-PVA seemed to have just as good of color as the IPS, but without the weird tinting. The problem was that it also had very bad ghosting. With these IPS panels I've tried so far, you really only notice it on black backgrounds and only slightly on white backgrounds. Nothing seems to be perfect, so find one that has the features you are looking for at the cheapest price.

Mine arrived with no dead pixels, a complete set of cables, and a sturdy stand.Every test pattern I have run on this produces near perfect results for color, contrast, sharpness, gamma, etc.I can finally see all of the details on my black-background win 7 scheme with firefox running. Revisiting photos is a joy. Video looks great.I have no backlight bleeding, nor gradient issues, nor tints at all. Rock solid. This is a matte monitor and some may prefer to have some gloss, since it creates the illusion of brilliance to color.

It seems the monitor industry has adopted 16:9 as standard widescreen which is great for watching movies but not for PC use! With a 16:10 aspect ratio (which I've found is hard to find!) you won't have to scroll as much since you have another inch+ or so height on your monitor. The height on the ZR24W, 1200 pixels, is the same as a 20" 4:3 aspect ratio standard monitor. If you pop in a movie you should have thin black bars on the top and bottom but no stretched screen like the another review mentioned. ??I use the Dell U2410 at work which is 12 bit and about $150 more than this monitor and I really can't tell any improvement. I'm not a power user but I do some entry level graphics design but this monitor is an 8 bit that shows 16.7M displayable colors, the U2410 is a 12 bit and can display 1 billion+ colors but the human eye can only distinguish about a million. Plus most video cards only process around 16.7 million colors. So someone please explain what's the big deal about 12bit? Also we have 8 of the U2410s at work and 2 have to be returned due to dimming in the bottom corners, not good odds Dell! About the only thing I like better on the Dell is the touch sensitive controls but usually you only adjust these when you first set it up.The picture on this monitor is stunning, I replaced an old SyncMaster 204B LCD with this one - me and my wife must have sat through our complete photo folder (she was beside me and she could still see the photos no problem at an angle thanks to IPS), it was like we've never seen some of our digital photos before! That together with IPS quality at $400 this is a great deal.

This is great monitor for CAD users 2D and 3D.Huge screen with no dead pixels.Adjustable very solid stand.I was using dual monitors 22" and 19" for several years. After getting this one I see big difference.I just moved all toolbars on second monitor (especially useful for BIM programs).Having entire 24" for main window makes my working time very productive.Shipping from Amazon was fast as always.

I have not bought this monitor.Despite its excellent specifications and beautiful image, The biggest downside to the ZR24w is the connectors. It comes with three inputs via DisplayPort, DVI and VGA. One major interface that is missing is HDMI.This is a very common interface now for laptops and even desktops. It is certainly more prevalent than DisplayPort and it would be nice to see this included. Therefore, I did bot buy it, but bought a cheaper Viewsonic.

Ужасно

When I turn this monitor on, on what should be a black background,I find two red wing-like splotches and two large red pimplesin the middle of the blackness. They are always there unlesssome color is superimposed on them in sufficient strength. This means if you are looking at a picture of a nighttime object, you will see the red on any blackness at that position on the screen. But that's not all -- it turns out that there are two additional areasof diminished capacity which show up as shadows on pictures locatedin their area. But that's not all -- I could not find a timer thatputs the monitor into zero watt mode after the timeout interval --instead there is a useless-to-me auto-turnoff "feature" that at prescribedtimes of the day will turn the monitor off/on. So, basically, otherwise, the monitoris always drawing circa 50 watts even in "stand-by" mode.I suppose the monitor is fine if you want to watch movies on it.It is sharp, although it really wants you to have a graphics card thatwill enable it to run at 1920 x 1200. The viewing angle is fine for the user. But the screen defects are so obvious,I don't know why it ever got past quality control, although there is a stampon it that says it did. I sent it back.

I like this monitor a lot. I also have a LP 2475W, and this monitor compares very well to the performance of the more expensive LP2475W. I do notice that sometimes, after the monitor has been running for a couple of hours, the screen starts to go blank for about 4 seconds every few minutes, and then corrects itself after sometime. I am not sure if this is a problem with the monitor(overheating? perhaps), but since I don't see it very regularly, I haven't thought of asking for a replacement yet.All in all, a good buy for this price.

I love this monitor! I got one for work and another one for home. The image quality is amazing. This is the cheapest S-IPS monitor you can buy. The monitor generates some heat from the screen itself which is kind of weird. But, it is nothing out of the ordinary. It looks well built and sturdy. It has USB connections on the left side and the screen can flip vertically which doesn't add any value to me since I never use this feature. You will get the best bang for your buck from a professional grade monitor!

I live in two different cities and have an office in another. Bought over several years, I have three different 24-inch +/- monitors. The first is an Apple Cinema (about $1,400 at the time of purchase), the second, in the office, is a high-end NEC (about $1,200 at the time of purchase), and now the HP ZR24W in the second home. All three monitors have an IPS panel (good results from the Apple prompting the other two purchases). For my purposes, I'm a graphic designer working mostly in print these days, each of these monitors is identical to the other two. 1920 x 1200 resolution is necessary for my work, and that capability and the price were why I chose the HP. So far, a couple of months, the HP has done what it's supposed to do, sit there and work just like the other two monitors do. Again, no appreciable difference from one to the other. So, as far as I'm concerned, that would make the HP a real bargain at twice the cost.A note on another review I've seen here on this same monitor. The issue the reviewer complains about is likely caused by the video card, not the monitor itself. So take that one with a grain of salt. This is a well-built monitor, accurate enough for professional work.Buy it directly from Amazon if you can. The Marketplace seller's free shipping is very slow.

I have used an HP2408 24" monitor since Nov 2007 and I love it except for the pronounced color shift with vertical viewing angle. In comparison, the ZR24w produces uniform color from top to bottom. However, I have not attempted a color calibration, so I cannot comment on the trueness of the color. The ZR24w I rec'd has [updated] 1 stuck-on pixel (0.2" from bottom in area of Windows taskbar) but no other defects that I have noticed. In addition to having a different panel type (ZR24w has H2-IPS), the ZR24w has a non-reflective, matte screen, unlike the specular screen of the 2408. That mirror screen has never been a problem for me since I work in a room with low lights, and a specular screen cannot be beat for sharpness. The backlight is good; I'm using a 15% brightness setting. The control buttons, including power and an LED power indicator, are in the lower right corner. The LED is bright blue when operating but is tiny, so that placement will not be a problem for me. The heavy stand is simple in construction compared to that of the 2408 but offers equal adjustments (height/tilt/rotate), and no assembly is req'd other than to slide the monitor onto the stand and click the locking lever into place. HP included a cable for each interface (DVI, VGA, DisplayPort), a USB cable to connect to the 4-port (2 on left side, 2 behind/under) built-in USB hub, and a detachable power cord. It's only been "on" a few hours now, but it seems to work perfectly.

yeah, well, whatever.I like it. I wanted real estate too, so I bought two of these. They were inexpensive enough for the technology. There is a little light bleed through in two locations on top of the screen. I didn't notice this until last night while wacthing a movie after having them for a month. My primary concern was for accurate colors, as I want to get more serious about my digital artistic endeavors. I don't have thousands of dollars to spend on a monitor, so I took a chance & got these. The lightened areas don't extend much beyond (if at all) the menu/toolbar area of my app.s, so I think I can still give 5 stars, especialy for the quality/price ratio.HP, if you happen to read this, please note that a main factor in me deciding to buy this, aside from desiring color accuracy, was the fact that there are NO BUILT IN SPEAKERS! :) when I want speakers, I'll buy speakers. I really hate this trend of combining things that should be separate. & it turns out that there is an optional speaker bar that one can attach to the bottom of the unit. I am actually thinking about getting one. Ironic? Well, it is still a separate device. The base is solid too.

I've owned this monitor for about two months now and couldn't be more pleased. I print a lot of photos and always had problems getting my prints to match my screen - not anymore. I created a calibration profile with a Pantone Spyder 2 and my photos are spot on. You won't be sorry. And yes, 1900x1200 was a big selling point for me. I paired it up with a new ATI/AMD 5750 with the Eyefinity software and can run whatever combination of resolutions on three different monitors - simply awesome.

It is getting increasingly difficult to find 16x10 monitors. I don't watch TV on my displays, I program computers. All I care about is real estate and text. I want maximum pixels. And the text must be sharp. PIXELS & TEXT. That's it.So I bought a $700+ Samsung 245T a few years ago. IPS or SPVA are the best options for a non-professional display, according to the internets. The cheaper TN-panel monitors look like crap. I know because a couple years ago I mistakenly bought a "cheap" (450 bucks) Acer 24" monitor to pair with the Samsung and it gave me a headache trying to discern the blurry text. Why I kept that turd around for 2 years is a mystery, but I did.Anyway, I was trying to dig up a comparable display to the Samsung (since it's no longer in production) and considered the very-well-reviewed Dell 24" IPS. It comes in at 500 + tax. Not bad. Then I discovered the HP. 405 shipped, no tax. Duh.It's not very pretty, it seems a smidgen cheap in build quality, but dang that text is sharp. I am going to buy another.

If you need gaming speed and excellent 8 bit color, this should make you happy. If this model hadn't been released this year, I would probably be looking for another CRT. If you can use 1920x1200 or 1600x1200 for gaming, you won't notice any texture blur. Using vertical resolutions below 1200 will give some noticeable lag, but still better than many TN panels. No stuck pixels or backlight bleeding. Color, contrast and black levels look great at defaults... I reduced brightness a bit and haven't touched it since.

I purchased this monitor last week for my dual monitor setup. It is sitting side by side with a DELL 2408WFP monitor and I have used it for about 3 days. Up until now, the DELL was my hands down favorite but, so far, I like the HP a bit better.I am a software developer so I am not qualified to talk about color accuracy and other related things but for a clear, crisp display at 1920x1200 it is one of the best monitors I have used. It is certainly the best from a price performance perspective. It was easy to assemble and adjust. It worked perfectly with my KVM setup (4 wired machine).I strongly recommend this monitor.
