People have reviewed this screen up and down so I'll keep mine short. In short: I agree with all the positive reviews.I've now had this screen for over two years and am still extremely happy with it. It's sharper than most screens, brighter, colors are more accurate, and the design is elegant. It's a little thick in depth, but I don't really care about that because even if it were thin, the stand would take up that space anyways. Anybody who sees my screen compliments it, to this day. I also like the fact that the stand allows you to position the screen however you want without having to adjust the stand itself. If you're thinking of buying a quality screen, this is definitely a great option. I do about 10 - 12 hours of work on it, daily, and my eyes never hurt. It's pretty good for gaming too, but it's not something I focus on. I do a lot of coding, 3D, cad, and regular computing with it and it helps to be able to see everything clearly. I'm actually only using about 4/5 for sharpness because 5/5 is too sharp!

I purchased the HP ZR24w monitor about 2 months ago, and I love it! It took the place of a Samsung 17" CRT that was still working fine after some 15 years (but the coating was starting to come off the screen surface). The ZR24w is evenly lit from edge to edge, and has no bad pixels or sub-pixels. Both text and photos are super-crisp.As stated in other reviews of both this monitor and similar ones, the brightness out of the box is set WAY too high for photo editing. The factory setting would probably be OK for spreadsheets and word processing, but for photo editing some setting changes were definitely needed. I don't have a hardware monitor calibrator, but was able to get the monitor image and the printed photo (Canon Pro9000 Mk II) to match really well after some trial and error. I also used some on-line tools to adjust gamma (my Gforce video card had it set to 1.0). Using the monitor's own menu I knocked the brightness down from the factory setting of 90% to 0% (that does not make the screen black, it just reduces the backlight brightness the most possible). It was still too bright, so I used the driver for the video card to reduce further by changing the setting from 100% to 88%. After the brightness was good, I made small prints with different color settings (on the monitor's menu). I found that the factory settings (255 for R, G, and B) made the screen image too cool compared to the prints. So I knocked back both the green and blue to warm up the screen image. I'm sure hardware calibration might do a better job, but I'm pretty pleased with what I could do without it, and I'm a fairly demanding guy when it comes to photo printing. Most of the IPS monitors are advertized to have a viewing angle of 170 degrees or so. I found that not to be the case. There is still much less contrast change when you move your head side to side or up and down compared to TN monitors (like laptop displays), but not 170 degrees. I don't find this to be a problem though. After looking at reviews of Dell, HP, and some other brands, I decided on the HP, and am very happy with it.

I spent several weeks researching monitors for my new workstation desktop. I do a lot of video and graphic design work (both print and web) with Adobe Creative Suite 5.5, so monitor size and color quality were important to me. My decision was finally narrowed down to the HP ZR24W and it has been a good choice. I have owned the monitor for 4 weeks and it has performed beautifully with no dead pixels and no color issues.SCREEN SIZE: The 24" size combined with the 16:10 aspect ratio really gives me a lot of screen real estate to work with. This is very beneficial with the video work, but also makes my photoshop and dreamweaver workflows much easier. When I am designing for web, I do have to be more conscious that most of my viewers will be viewing on smaller screens, and plan my layouts accordingly.COLOR: Colors are awesome and uniform across the screen. The IPS "grain" does take a bit getting used to. As stated in other reviews, the whites look a little "dirty". It is weird, and almost like you have a matte screen protector on the screen. After you get used to it, however, you don't notice it all and in reality the colors and whites are true to color (not "dirty" or misrepresented on the screen). That said, I LOVE the viewing angles, and would never go back to a non IPS. I have not color calibrated yet, but have tested against proof prints and it seems pretty well calibrated out the box (aside from brightness, see below).BRIGHTNESS (WARNING): This sucker is BRIGHT out of the box. The brightness, combined with screen size, gave me considerable eye strain the first few days. After reading tips online, I took the brightness down to 24% and that helped a lot.STYLE: While I was looking for performance over looks, I really like the style of this monitor. It is fairly thick compared to most modern day flat screen monitors, but the addition of aluminum trim on the size, combined with the fact that the frame on the front is only 3/4" thick, still gives it a sleek, modern look.

Getting the right monitor is a balancing act. My own monitor is a 27 inch 2560x1440 Apple Thunderbolt Display which I love but know is not for everyone due to cost and Thunderbolt requirement. I also have a 27 inch 1920x1080 HP 2711x which is cheap but has a poor picture and horrible viewing angles. In the middle, price wise, I bought this 24 inch 1920x1200 monitor for my wife, mainly because that is the maximum resolution supported by her 4 year old Mac Mini, and I have been pleased with the choice. At a higher resolution and smaller size than the 2711x, text is smooth and clear, while the IPS panel gives great viewing angles, and the colors have fine saturation without being cartoonlike. It's comparable in picture quality and brightness to the more expensive Thunderbolt display and leaves the cheaper monitor in the dust.On the negative side, USB power management is too aggressive. I really don't want to power down my USB devices if I turn off the monitor. I ended up not using the built in USB hub, this contrasts with the Thunderbolt which has USB, FireWire, Ethernet, a camera, a microphone, Thunderbolt out, speakers, a MacBook charging cable, and a subwoofer, most of which I use daily. So, this monitor is mainly about its excellent display and not accessories. I am happy it has a DisplayPort, in addition to DVI, so there is some future proofing there. The buttons and display LEDs are attractive, easy to find, and the configuration menu is easy to navigate. In general, if you want a real computer monitor, don't have special requirements and are willing to pay for quality, I think you will be more than happy with this beautiful device.

This is my primary screen in the office.. everyone there has a large and cheap panel these days but this one has a more vivid and colorful display.Pros:- Excellent visual quality, noticeable better than common TFT screens- Built-in USB hub for easier access to ports (no bending under the desk)- Very bright; important when you have a windowed office.- Screen rotates to Portrait position when neededCons:- Flourescent backlight generates noticeable heat on top and in back- Can't seem to get it perfectly level when rotating back to Landscape orientation. The stand has a mechanical detent that is slightly off-level so I have to play with it a bit to become level.Verdict:Very nice screen but today I would look for an IPS screen with LED backlighting.

I bought this monitor because I had read good things about it. For a while it worked fine.Nine months after I bought it the monitor went into sleep mode and did not come out of it. The USB ports no longer were recognized by my computer. The only way the monitor would work was to hook it up via VGA. To make sure it wasn't a problem with my computer, we hooked it up to a different computer. It was the monitor.Contacted HP and after a fight with customer service, they sent another one. Had it three days and the monitor went into sleep mode and the USB ports are no longer recognized by my computer. It is now hooked up via VGA, which is the only way it will work. Again, we tried it with another computer, it was the monitor. Not sure whether we will try customer service again or just go with a different company.

The monitor itself is good. The response time feels OK.Could be five stars of not two things:1) One thing which keeps bugging me is the electric "flickering" sound, like something is wrong with the power. It appears when the monitor starts for zero to 20 seconds and generally doesn't return once it goes away. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature though.2) No HDMI input, only VGA, DVI and DisplayPort. And HDMI => Display Port cable doesn't work for legal reasons which I hate too much to go into any details. Basically, had to get an extra video card for my desktop to have the monitor connected via a non-VGA cable.

I was very happy with my previous monitor, Samsung LCD SyncMaster P2370. Alas, I wanted to install it on a monitor stand but it doesn't support the VESA standard mount. So, my search began for a worthy replacement. In my search I tried a Viewsonic, I considered the Dell UltraSharp. The picture on the Viewsonic was OK but the screen would not completely fill with the desktop image. Also, I mistakenly ordered 10:8 (HD) aspect ratio instead of 10:9 (1920 x 1200). You see, the Samsung 2370 had spoiled me. Trying a new HP I borrowed from work (with its VESA compliant mount), I discovered how solid it was. I found the ZR24W had the specs I needed. Purchased from B&H because Amazon doesn't sell this unit directly.Upon hooking up the new HP ZR24w I was impressed. The blacks are black and the screen is super crisp at its native 1920 x 1200 resolution. I didn't do much adjusting - I'm not the color calibrating type - but it's plenty bright and you may want to play with the OSD. I enabled Dynamic Contrast Ratio and cut back some brightness. Hooking it up to my new Dell Latitude with Win7 Enterprise OS, the laptop did not recognize the higher resolution. Installing drivers from the supplied CD did not seem to work. I downloaded latest from HP's website and then the laptop recognized the correct (higher) resolution. Makes a huge difference.I'm very happy with this monitor and surprised that I am now an HP customer.

I purchased the ZR24w after looking for a good 24" screen to replace my 21.5" Samsung LCD. I also purchased the Dell U2410, and the HP 2511x. The ZR24w was the best of the three.Pros: - The screen is sharp and easy to read at 1920x1200. This is a good resolution for a 24" screen and you will appreciate the extra vertical space with a 16:10 ratio.- Color is great (after using a pre-calibrated profile from TFT Central). Out of the box the screen needs some work. Viewing conditions vary, and so will your calibrated settings.- Clean easy to read text. Images / video look great.Cons:- Size is larger than most modern displays (in terms of depth). The monitor on the HP stand will set the screen a few inches closer to your face than a normal LCD would. I have limited space on my desk and would like to be able to push this monitor a few inches back. The design of the stand makes this impossible, this is my one complaint about the product.- Grain... This is something I noticed on both the Dell U2410 and the ZR24w. I thought it would bother me at first, but to my surprise after using the monitor for 4 days I no longer notice it at all. Calibrating the display and setting the correct brightness and contrast levels really helps here. I no longer see it. If it bothers you out of the box, correct the brightness settings and give it about a weeks worth of use.Other Thoughts:- Would like to see a card reader on this display like on theU2410.- The screen is good for gaming (to me). I am a casual gamer and don't notice any problems.- I would choose this display over the U2410 (having owned both). This monitor costs less and is getting much better reviews compared to the U2410. Keep in mind that the U2410 is a wide color gamut screen and not applicable to your average consumer. My U2410 suffered multiple problems out of the box which seem to be pretty common.

MY HP ZR24w now has Horrible Image Persistence/Burn in all along the sides of the screen, Hewlett-Packard's warranty conveniently "for them" doesn't cover Burn in ether... This is unacceptable for a $400.00 product! Hewlett Packard has wasted my time with this money sink and they've lost a customer from buying another product from HP. From now on I'll take my business elsewhere, thank you for reading!

I've had this monitor for two years. The screen has a good viewing angle, there is no burn in of text, and I've never had problems with it overheating or making whining noises. This contrasts heavily with the 24" Dell Ultrasharp which I paid more for at the time but is similarly priced now. It had to be replaced due to power supply issues and while it does have the same good viewing angle it exhibits enough burn in. It not permanent like CRT burn in, but if I leave the same text up for a few hours it will be visible for a day or two afterward.I like the FHD screen on my T520 laptop better as the pixel density there is higher. But I think this screen is very good if you work with a lot of text and need a screen that is easy on the eyes.

This monitor was purchased to replace a Samsung SyncMaster 213T (21.3" 1600x1200) shared between four computers (Mac & PC). The HP ZR24w has the same pixel size as the SyncMaster (0.27 mm pitch), but is wider and brighter. It's also lighter, and uses less power. The HP has no bad pixels, is completely silent (it's used in a recording studio), does not radiate a lot of heat, is very bright, and very sharp. The color balance is excellent, and colors are even across the surface. The surface has a very fine non-glare matte finish that doesn't blur the image at all and has very little grain. It's driven via analog VGA signals through an IOGear KVM, and there is no ghosting or image artifacts of any kind. A 15" Macbook Pro drives the VGA via the Apple DVI-VGA adapter dongle. One note: Like most LCD monitors, the ZR24w only supports 60 Hz (+-1Hz) refresh, which is not one of the standard 76 and 85 Hz settings for 1920x1200 resolution on the Mac. Amusingly, the Mac's help popup for the refresh rate says "Your display is not supported." This is like saying your toaster is broken because your house is wired for 165 volts instead of the standard 117 VAC. No problem, SwitchRezX4 let me add the necessary refresh rate option to the Mac's display properties in the system prefs. This is a free-to-try app, but you only need to run it once to create the new settings option.

I got the monitor last August. Less than a year, I cannot use it to play video and to play game at all. When I play the video (DVD, Bluray or video file), either by VLC media player or Corel WinDVD player, the screen turns black from time to time. When I play Diablo III, I get the same problem and much more frequently. It worked before (both video and game) but now I can only use it for "regular" use, not video intensive ones. I tried different computer and different graphic card and got the same result. Big disappointment.

It worked great right out of the box. Easy installation.Great stand, it feels solid and strong enough to trust the big 24 inch lcd panel. This monitor works flawlessly with the DVI or DisplayPort connection. Colors are right on. Text is sharp. The brightness is great, same goes for its contrasts, however I calibrated the brightness down for easiness on the eyesight. No dead pixels. Great color uniformity and no backlight bleeding. I worked with the 27in. Apple display, however its glossiness and strong reflection made me hate my work at times. Now I can easily work 8-10 hrs non-stop without a headache thanks to the Antiglare screen. Now, please understand that this is a professional lcd. Its 16:10 aspect ratio (1920x1200) is not old technology, its actually perfect for working professionals of the graphic industry. If you want to watch movies on your computer look somewhere else. There are lots of lcd panels that are great for all entertainment needs and are more affordable than an IPS panel. I think the 16:9 lcds were manufactured with the entertainment needs of every consumer in mind. Sure, we are all free to buy as our wallets allow, but I dont understand it when people complain that this is not a 1080 lcd and that its not Glossy or that it doesnt have speakers or HDMI connections. Please take at least 10-20 mins. to read the items' specs. Read the buyers' reviews before you buy. Its really worth it and saves you from being frustrated. Dont just ask your friend at work which is the best LCD in the market. Everyone has different needs and your friend's needs might be different than yours. Make your own research, its worth it.

The monitor looks great but only if you are using a DVI connection. Tried multiple computers connected to Display Port (DVI -> DP, DP -> DP) and it just shows no signal. DVI works great but I can't get the DisplayPort to work correctly. This is my second ZR24w monitor. I returned the first one because I thought it was a bad port but with the same issues on this second monitor lead me to believe it may be a bad production batch. People on HP's forums are also having issues with the DisplayPort.I contacted HP Business Support and tried everything to resolve this. I installed the HP ZR24w drivers (When have you ever had to install drivers for a monitor?) and it still didn't work. After swapping cables and installing drivers HP Support says it is my laptop that's the problem. My workstation laptop works fine with my Dell 24" monitor connected thru the DisplayPort. After a couple of hours of troubleshooting they finally conceded that it may be a bad port. They did offer to send a technician to repair and replace it but I've wasted a little over 2 days trying to get this monitor to work. It is also really annoying to have to answer the same troubleshooting questions from HP Support when you are returning a call to update your case.Another problem with this monitor is that there is no internal scaler. If you plan to watch 1080p content (Apple TV, PS3, Roku, etc) it will not display at 1920x1080 but the content will look stretched at 1920x1200.HP makes great workstation products but unfortunately this monitor isn't one of them. 2 bad monitors and only Tier 1 Level Support for this product.

I purchased one of these several months ago for one of my workstations, and just recently purchased another. I'm a graphic designer, spending most of my time on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Obviously for me, resolution, color accuracy and consistency (i.e. no light or dark spots, no fading from top to bottom) is very important, and this monitor performs beautifully. I'm pleased, and I think the price is more than fair for this kind of quality. And, for someone who NEVER reads manuals, this took me less than five minutes to have up-and-running.

When I turned on the monitor I couldn't believe the clarity and sharpness. My photos took on a whole new look. I could see detail in my photos that I could not see with my old monitor. If you are serious about photography or enjoy any kind of graphics work make sure you buy one of the IPS monitors. This is the first IPS panel I've had other than my TV. Coming from cheap LCDs, it's great. You don't notice changes in color from top to bottom. The colors are really clear. There's no saturation like on the other monitors I have. I have an old 21" IBM CRT which just looks blurry and dim compared to this monitor. There is a bit of dimness on the right side, about 2 inches. It's not particularly noticeable at higher brightness. The top left corner is also slightly dimmer. These things are really only noticeable if you have a white image in them. The stand is hands down the best I've used. It swivels about 30 degrees in either direction, tilts up past where my cables will let it right now, but only tilts down perhaps 5 degrees. It also spins so you can position it vertically 1200x1920. If I had a second one (which I'm contemplating buying), I would position it that way for my programming.I've had this monitor for 16 months and it's still working quite well.

I needed a new monitor for more "screen real estate" in the home office. Since it'd been more than 5 years since I'd gotten a new screen I wanted to get the most current tech and IPS was it, Reviews were examined and this was amongst the best 24" 16:10 screens out there.I'm really blown away by how bright (!) and crisp this screen is. I've had it on my desk for a couple of weeks now and I'm still impressed.I've just discovered that I do have two stuck pixels though. They're only visible on a full blank screen since they are stuck blue and aren't obtrusive. I'm disappointed since its the most expensive screen I've ever purchased and I had expected perfection. That flaw cost it a star.

If you're looking for a 1920x1200 monitor with vertical pivot, this HP is hundreds of dollars less than all the competition. Seems like a good deal to me. I can't comment on how the picture quality compares with $1000+ screens; but it compares favorably with my other consumer-grade monitors. The build is quite solid, and thankfully the advertising is limited to a small HP logo. Unfortunately the stand seems a bit flimsy, especially the base - much less sturdy than the monitor itself. My work productivity definitely went up when I got this monitor. Vertical orientation means a lot less scrolling. Lots of screen real estate means my tools no longer have to compete for space. And the picture quality seems pretty low-strain on my eyes so far.One thing to keep in mind when deciding to get one of these: this thing is BIG. It's not a svelte little LED - the monitor is a good 6" thick, and the stand continues another 4" or 5" behind that. I have a quite a large desk, but still end up sitting it on an adjacent table to get adequate distance between me & the screen. If you have a small desk and nowhere else convenient to mount it, you might not be comfortable with this monitor.

I got this as an external monitor for my Macbook. My criteria were:1) The ability to read two full letter-sized pages side by side.2) Good viewing angles and crisp clear text3) USB hub (to connect my mouse, keyboard and flash drives) and DisplayPort inputThis monitor, with its 16:10 resolution and 24" screen fulfilled the above nicely, so I decided to give it a try. So far, I have been very pleased. No dead pixels, beautiful color rendition with no oversaturation, great viewing angles, can't hear even a faint sound when it's running. The only thing I had to do was turn down the brightness to nearly 0, as the default setting was far too high. After doing this, the monitor passed all the LCD tests on lagom.nl very nicely. The USB ports worked out of the box, as expected. Two ports are on the side, while two are at the back next to the video inputs. The monitor came with VGA, DVI and DisplayPort cables, a USB cable, as well as a quick-release stand that was super easy to set up (no screws or tools required). The stand itself feels rock solid and is capable of adjusting monitor height, tilting, pivoting and rotating.I am very happy that this is a 16:10 screen, as the extra 11% of display space at the bottom gives you more vertical room to read text. I did not feel the need to do any calibration, although I have seen that there are custom color profiles out there that can improve color reproduction for users that need the very best. For users that have a computer with minidisplayport output, I recommend using this monitor with a MiniDisplayport to Displayport cable (search on Monoprice), as the cable is very thin and it frees up space that will otherwise be taken up by a large adapter.

I bought this monitor for my home, since I have HP LP2475w at my work and need the same resolution. 1920x1200 monitors are hard to find. I couldn't quite afford the LP2475w (more than $500), so I first tried the cheap alternative - ASUS VW266H from Fry's. But the viewing angle was absolutely horrible. Even when viewing straight on, there was a huge shift in colors and contrast from the top to the bottom of the monitor. So I quickly returned it and started looking for an alternative. Then I found the HP ZR24w. It's not quite as good as the LP2475w. Clearly when it comes to monitors, you get what you pay for. But the ZR24w will do it for me. The colors are pretty stable from any angle. However, there is a pretty big increase in the background gray level (and corresponding decrease in contrast) when you move off-center. Clearly much worse than the 2475w. This is pretty minimal though when you look at it straight on (i.e. working). So "good enough" for me.A couple of minor points. I found no dead pixels, so that's good. Also, the stand is quite nice - easy to move up/down. The ASUS didn't have ANY up/down adjustment. The menus are very easy to navigate. The one gripe I have is overall slight decrease in the brightness in the lower 1/3 of the monitors. While some amount of uneven brightness toward the edges is expected on any flat panel monitor, this is more pronounced and across the whole 1/3 of the monitor and the transition is pretty sharp. On the positive side, this is ONLY noticeable if you have a uniform background across much of the screen. If you sprinkle in text and other objects you won't notice it.So there you go. If you absolutely can't tolerate the poor viewing angles of today's cheap TFT monitors, then this upgrade if well worth your money, even if you are on a budget. But if you don't mind spending extra $200 for the LP2475w, then you will be extra happier - better contrast from any angle and more uniform brightness.

I had 3 main requirements for a monitor: 1920x1200, 24in, and having Displayport, DVI and VGA connections. I like the picture quality. The monitor came with the cables, which was a pleasant surprise. It automatically recognizes which computer is on and switches to the right input. My Win7 PC is connected via DVI, Mac mini is connected via DP, and VGA is free to connect to other computers I work on occassionally. The only complaint I have is minor: not having a single button to switch monitors manually when more than 1 are on simultaneously; it takes 6-7 button pushes with 2-3 buttons using the menu.

I absolutely love my new 24" HP monitor I got for home-work! Its an amazing IPS screen, that needs just a little brightness adjustment out of the box. Awesome birthday present =]Honestly, I really do see the light. I use a bunch of E-IPS displays and they just don't do graphics design work justice. I'm a converted man! Only true S-IPS displays can get the right work done. No more E-IPS for me!

I have been looking at various IPS monitors for a while and the ZR24w looked like the best bang for your buck I could find.Pros:- viewing angles are fantastic- color is much more natural than my previous TN monitor- 1920 x 1200 resolution is perfect for photo and video editing- 16:10 aspect ratio is great middle ground for general use- sturdy construction with a solid base and smooth telescoping stand- controls are physical buttons, not touch sensors- 4 port USB hub- lots of inputsCons:- minus 1 star for a couple of screen defects (one stuck pixel and a couple of dead pixels), not a big enough deal to return though since the pixel density is high enough that they are barely noticeableOther Thoughts:I found this review at TFT Central [...] very helpful with the calibrating of my monitor. This combined with a Datacolor Spyder resulted in a beautiful looking display.

Great monitor and boy do I wish I would have picked up another one for the low cost they were at before. Paid around 400 with next day air.I didn't like the fact that the monitor had 2 stuck pixels (nobody would when you pay this much for a monitor). So I contacted HP to test out there warranty while I was still under Amazon's 30 day warranty. The rep on the phone told me that since I had just purchased the monitor she wouldn't recommend the next day technician repair. Especially since the issue was not a major fault. The reason being that she couldn't guarantee that I would get a brand new monitor or refurbished. Instead I got a brand new monitor from HP within 3 days at my door and a prepaid slip to send my defective unit back.Due to good customer service and amazing monitor. I won't drop the stars to 4 since the problem was fixed on the first call.

This is a great looking monitor at a great price as others have said. I'll add that 4 powered USB ports (2 at back, 2 at side) are very handy for situations where you might use this monitor for multiple computers. Switching the one master USB cable over to another computer carries all the attached USB devices with it (such as keyboard, mouse, headphones).Mine arrived with a few bad pixels. This is a business monitor so HP's business support took care of it. A technician visited and replaced it within a couple of days and now I couldn't be happier.

I have this monitor sit next to two DELL 2405FPW, its colors are far more accurate, but my 2405FPWs don't even have same colors to each others because they both are different revision. This monitor HP produced colors very nicely, brightness is great, but it also produces more heat and thicker in size, however, that's not the reason why this gets 3 stars only. The matte screen, not the panel, but the actual piece of plastic matte film is much more grainy than I expected. If I only set whole background in white color, it's clearly shows grainy texture over the display. From what I read, this is designed to reduce glare but also reduce the quality of the display. It is much noticeable when it sits next to my DELL monitors although it has much better colors. I will be keeping this one, but I'm sure to say that I'm quite disappointed with this for the money I paid for.

I love the picture. Finally can watch 1080P trailers without resizing. Running an HD5850 video card on an Asus P67 Sabertooth motherboard with an i5 2500K processor at stock speeds currently. Everything runs smoothly. Of course this is a review on the monitor. Resolution is set at 1920 x 1200 which is higher than full HD (1920 x 1080P) so there are small bars top and bottom but this doesn't bother me. The picture is tack sharp and blu ray movies look fantastic on this display. Finding free blu ray playing software is a hassle but using Cyberlink Power DVD 10 during the trail period right now. Don't want to pay $80 for something that should be free and should be on every blu ray disc. But I guess someone did the development work and should get paid. But I digress. Zero problems so far and no dead pixels. Not that i would be able to see one easily. Lots of controls available which I have not used yet. I suppose I should calibrate it for correct color. That will be a learning experience. I will update this review as I become more experienced with the controls.

I've owned this monitor for four months. If you're considering buying it, I don't see how you can go wrong. The image quality and color is excellent (IPS). The price is excellent for the quality of product received. The 1900 x 1200 aspect is much better for office work and software development work (my use case).Just buy it, and enjoy. And don't pick a TN just because it's $50 or $100 dollars cheaper, you'll regret it.

I picked ground shipping, yet it only took 3 business days. The item was brand new as stated in the description and so far everything works greatly. The resolution is very high and it is well worth the money. This is different from the HP ZR2475 monitor, so be careful. The only difference is that ZR2475 has a higher color gamut percentage and few additional ports like HDMI.

I discovered the limitations of my previous (TN-technology) monitor when I compared photos with my Nikon D7000 camera monitor. The vivid colors (especially yellows) could not be duplicated on the computer. This HP monitor (in this admittedly non-scientific test) solves that issue.PROS: 1) good color rendition in the sRGB color space out of the box, 2) relatively low price, 3) DVDs play well - no response time issues, 4) stand is steady.CONS: 1) (minor) factory brightness setting requires adjustment- brightness needs to be backed down to near minimum.

I am not a video/graphics professional, just need to get general use out of the computer system. That said, the image on this monitor seems nicer than the one on the Dell 2005FPW that it replaced, and I did not have to make any adjustments to it whatsoever- instantly optimized settings (for my purposes, anyway) out of the box in Win 7. Also, as noted, it has the increasingly rare to find 16:10 ratio, which gives more screen real estate to work with. My feeling is that if you are going to put this large a monitor on your desk, then might as well make the best use of it. The only trade-off would possibly be small black bars on the edges when viewing HD video? I use this for business apps, so that's not really an issue for me, anyway. Just need to get the HP speaker bar (NQ576AA) to get basic sound from it. Finally, no bad pixels on mine.

Great image quality, bright, and with decent menu navigation. Reasonably attractive and reasonably priced. Side-by-side with my old Dell 2004WFP, the ZR24 is *much* brighter (both are set to max), presumably because the Dell is 7 years old and I would expect they dim over time? The ZR is also bigger, of course, but otherwise the two are still pretty comparable. My only gripe was that, by default, it overlays an annoying Monitor Status dialog over the image for several seconds every time it turns on. Fortunately, this was easily disabled in the hardware menus.

Like reviewer Big Fudge, I'm a programmer who wants real estate, 16:10, and sharp text. I haven't yet graduated to multi-monitor displays but was just looking for an upgrade replacement for my trusty old 4:3 19" Dell UltraSharp LCD (1905FP). I looked first at the new Dell 24" UltraSharp (U2410) - it's not only about $140 more than this HP (probably for features I don't need) but also I was scared away by lots of problems reported in the forums (e.g., hardforum) even after a firmware revision. Since I'm not a gamer or serious photographer, I'm not sure how many of the "problems" I would have even noticed, but with this HP available as an alternative I decided not to take a chance on the Dell.I've had it for about a week, and at 1920x1200 I'm still getting used to all the room: 76% more area to work with compared to the 1280x1024 on my old Dell. At 0.270 mm dot pitch, the HP's text is a bit smaller than the 0.294 on my old Dell, but still a very nice size for working efficiently, and *SHARP*. And while graphics, photos, and videos are not my priority, they all look great (to me) on this monitor.I would have given this five stars, but I did a quick, simple screen test and found two defective pixels. One is visible only with a pure blue screen, so basically I never see it, not even with the classic Windows XP deep blue desktop. The other pixel is only visible with either a green or white screen, so this one is more likely to be visible because of the white space present in many applications; however, it's so tiny that it's actually difficult to find if I look for it, so I hardly ever notice it and am not distracted by it under normal working conditions, so it's not worth the time and trouble to try to return the monitor.

Bought this monitor because it is one of the few 24" screens that actually has a full 1920x1200 resolution (not the smaller 1920x1080) and features a good IPS panel type. The monitor is packed well and is very sturdy when assembled. Height adjustments work well. However, the monitor I got seemed to have slightly uneven color distribution, the left half of the screen seemed to be slightly purplish/bluish while the right side looked fine. There was also a stuck red pixel.I ended up returning it and getting a Dell 23" UltraSharp (1920x1080). I do notice the missing vertical resolution, but it was almost $100 cheaper and featured the same panel (but with no suck pixels this time). The color uniformity still looks a little funny (bottom left corner has an orange-ish tint and bottom right corner has a purplish tint), but otherwise it's doing its job quite well. These monitors were replacing a GATEWAY FPD2485W with an S-PVA panel. The S-PVA seemed to have just as good of color as the IPS, but without the weird tinting. The problem was that it also had very bad ghosting. With these IPS panels I've tried so far, you really only notice it on black backgrounds and only slightly on white backgrounds. Nothing seems to be perfect, so find one that has the features you are looking for at the cheapest price.

It seems the monitor industry has adopted 16:9 as standard widescreen which is great for watching movies but not for PC use! With a 16:10 aspect ratio (which I've found is hard to find!) you won't have to scroll as much since you have another inch+ or so height on your monitor. The height on the ZR24W, 1200 pixels, is the same as a 20" 4:3 aspect ratio standard monitor. If you pop in a movie you should have thin black bars on the top and bottom but no stretched screen like the another review mentioned. ??I use the Dell U2410 at work which is 12 bit and about $150 more than this monitor and I really can't tell any improvement. I'm not a power user but I do some entry level graphics design but this monitor is an 8 bit that shows 16.7M displayable colors, the U2410 is a 12 bit and can display 1 billion+ colors but the human eye can only distinguish about a million. Plus most video cards only process around 16.7 million colors. So someone please explain what's the big deal about 12bit? Also we have 8 of the U2410s at work and 2 have to be returned due to dimming in the bottom corners, not good odds Dell! About the only thing I like better on the Dell is the touch sensitive controls but usually you only adjust these when you first set it up.The picture on this monitor is stunning, I replaced an old SyncMaster 204B LCD with this one - me and my wife must have sat through our complete photo folder (she was beside me and she could still see the photos no problem at an angle thanks to IPS), it was like we've never seen some of our digital photos before! That together with IPS quality at $400 this is a great deal.

It is certainly more prevalent than DisplayPort and it would be nice to see this included. Therefore, I did bot buy it, but bought a cheaper Viewsonic.

Ужасно

When I turn this monitor on, on what should be a black background,I find two red wing-like splotches and two large red pimplesin the middle of the blackness. They are always there unlesssome color is superimposed on them in sufficient strength. This means if you are looking at a picture of a nighttime object, you will see the red on any blackness at that position on the screen. But that's not all -- it turns out that there are two additional areasof diminished capacity which show up as shadows on pictures locatedin their area. But that's not all -- I could not find a timer thatputs the monitor into zero watt mode after the timeout interval --instead there is a useless-to-me auto-turnoff "feature" that at prescribedtimes of the day will turn the monitor off/on. So, basically, otherwise, the monitoris always drawing circa 50 watts even in "stand-by" mode.I suppose the monitor is fine if you want to watch movies on it.It is sharp, although it really wants you to have a graphics card thatwill enable it to run at 1920 x 1200. The viewing angle is fine for the user. But the screen defects are so obvious,I don't know why it ever got past quality control, although there is a stampon it that says it did. I sent it back.
