I was really pleased how well the Denon performed the speaker setup. Ever speaker sounded loud and crisp. Even after I selecting the cable/satellite, DVD and Roku inputs, I was incredibly pleased at the richness of the front left, right and center speakers. However, no matter what method I tried to use, I could NOT get sound out of rear speakers. Neither could Amazon Technical support; so I returned the Denon.

A trip to Best Buy proved to me that my 8 y old Sony was outdated. I never realized all that I had been missing. I bought a Denon AVR-X2000, great sound good finish, but had a HDMI input problem out of the box, I took it back and took what is considered a VERY reliable receiver. My comparative findings; Yamaha RX a730 sound quality for movies is better, Yamaha has a VERY complicated Remote full of stuff you don't need or can't read, the buttons are plenty and very small, video is just OK. Denon has a better user interface, and elegant remote and is easier to set up, better stereo sound, and Video quality. I will keep the Yamaha for a bit, although not terribly impressed with it. I may go back and get another Denon, it feels like a better RX. It appears that in this range ($) you do get what you pay for and must spend 1K to get it all.

i brought this to replace a 10 year old yamaha unit that some of the channels stopped working on. the price was great and using the system set up, it has made my old speakers sound great. i also only used my old amp really when watching movies, with this system i use it for everything all the time, as is just easy to use once set up. let hope it last 10 years

over complicated if you have got 4 speakers forget it you need 7 or 5 the thing is a waste of time and does not work properly that's why they are selling it for 250 pounds not 500.at to
send 2 all of them back, just forget it buy a normal amplifier!!!!!!!!

Pretty great deal! Have a 5.1 setup with Energy Take Classic and sounds amazing. My favorite function is to be able to control with your iphone. The sound quality is pretty good but does need manual adjustments. The auto calibration is not that great. Video up conversion is pretty good, specially for items such as RCA like Nintendo Wii. Not HD quality but much better than regular 480.

I'm extremely satisfied with this amplifier. It was very easy to set up, sounds wonderful and is very well made.
It's a pleasure to listen to movies, video games and television through it and adds a wow factor to everything from clarity of speech to crisp bass and music.

Upgraded from a Sony STR-DN1000 and couldn't be more pleased. Never realized what I was missing from my Definitive Technology ProCimema 1000 setup. I actually hear much better improved low level sounds and wonderful Bass management. The surrounds are much more enveloping.
Takes a bit of tinkering to get all the options dialed in per source input but in the end you'll be pleased. No issues passing HDMI thru Xfinity X1 Cable Box, Apple TV and Sony BD player. The Xfinity X2 remote pairs right up for power and volume control with the X2000.
I suggest visiting the AVS forum for any technical questions, they have a dedicated thread for the E*** and X**** series Receivers.
I also have this AVR in an open front cabinet with 3/4" top, 2.5" side & 8" rear clearances with no heat issue.

Works as advertised, except for the air play which I didn't know would be audio only, but that seems to be the standard on all receivers (so you still need an apple tv if you want to stream video).
Heats up quite a lot, make sure you have enough space around it in your rack.

This is the best bit of kit I've ever bought and it has transformed our music, TV and media experience at a reasonable price. Not for the true Hi-Fi buff but for my taste it is superb. The surround sound from TV and Movies is now fantastic and coupled with Apple TV takes everything to another level. I have a Full HD 47" LG TV with Tannoy Speakers and I can wirelessly stream video and music from my iPad and IPhone to the system flawlessly and with my QNAP NAS Server adding to the package I have a great system. The Denon is easy to set up although there are loads of connectors (use Banana Plugs to make connecting simple) but the manual is good so it isn't too difficult. It comes with Spotify, Netflix and other external suppliers of media (at a small price) but we are satisfied with our own collections.
Highly recommended.

Works perfect with my 7.1 home theater setup!!! ... it's been more than three month's I bought this Receiver from amazon,
Haven't found any issue till date, My setup is paradigm 7.1 setup with Benq w1070 projector.... I ran about 300 hours of playtime....
Average 3-4 hours per day....

Despite mentioning network and streaming wirelessly, don't make the mistake assuming that this receiver has Wifi. It doesn't. I couldn't get 3 different Wifi extenders with ethernet to work and connect to my network.
I could get anything on this to work. Hooked up a number of things via HDMI, hooked up new speakers. Got no sound and no picture from anything. Everything worked fine on my 20 year old receiver.
Very frustrating 4 days trying to get this thing to work.

Totally frustrated with this product...previous Comcast HD Set top box could not send signal to this receiver....recently replaces with another new Comcast Xfinity HD Set Top Box...When I connect it to my receiver in Cable Input through HDMI only Audio comes out, NO VIDEO.
If I directly connect the set top box to my HDTV with the same cable output comes out fine.
Not sure if anybody can help me.

Not the quality I am used to with Denon. The 2nd Zone didn't work, which is one of the main reasons I purchased this receiver as I just bought a new home and the home is wired for sound in 2 other rooms and outside and this receiver wouldn't allow me to play those speakers.

I used to use an Onkyo 515, but ran out of HDMI slots. Looked at the new Onkyo, but there seemed to be a trade off of features at the level I was prepared to pay. After some research I decided on the Denon. It really does have all the features I need and I am so glad I switched from Onkyo. The Denon has 6 HDMI inputs, more than I think I will ever need and has a dedicated USB input for Iphone/Ipod

After doing research on the Mfg.'s and models I decided to switch from Onkyo to Dennon. I used to have an Onkyo 575x which I thought was great until I heard the Dennon. The integrated network capability, HDMI inputs, and easy set-up made the great sound even better. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for top class receiver.

Excellent sound from this multi channel receiver with a 32bit DSP processor in sound very good with SACD'S war of the world and dark side of the moon and HD pure Audio discs like Elton john and Genesis in surround sound can set up manually and in automatic program made, very flexible

My AVR-991 is unhappy and keeps shutting down and going to protect mode (even with nothing connected). Have generally been very happy with the AVR-991, but decided to fix the AVR-991 and move to a art studio / basement exercise room area and replace with a newer equivalent device. The new AVR has mostly the same specs, but can handle and up convert 4K video signals. Have been using for a few weeks and did have one minor problem - unit refused to shut-off with the remote (just the main speakers went on/off), but a full reset seems to have died the issue - somewhat painful since I had to re-enter my configuration changes and account logins for Siriux./XM, Pandora, Flicker, etc.

This is the second Denon receiver that the HDMI card burned out on in less than three weeks. The first was an AVR-X1000 and it lasted about an hour before it blew up. Then we ordered this one. It worked for 8.5 days. Do not buy Denon products.

I was just listing to the Denon AVR-X2000, what a great receiver. This thing has clear sound that will make you smile. I also got a pair of Polk speakers that are Bi-Wired. I am stunned at how nice the music quality sounds on this Denon

I had a Denon AV receiver that this one replaced. There was an intermittent chip in the surround processing unit, that would cause the unit to turn off when watching cable. So this unit replaced it. The manual is on a CD, so no paper instructions. The on screen menu was a little confusing. But after about 10 minutes, I got video and audio from Direct TV.
