When lightning struck my Motorola Surfboard 5100 cable modem and fried the ethernet port, I decided to try a D-Link cable modem hoping for better compatibility with my D-Link router. I ended up having to re-position this modem closer to the main cable feed into the house because it couldn't pick up a consistent signal from my cable company. It works fine now that it is tethered to a 10 ft cable line, but then I found out my D-Link Router was also fried by the same lightning strike that killed the Motorola modem. Knowing what I know now, I would have purchased another Motorola Surfboard modem. It didn't have any problem picking up the cable signal at the end of a 75 foot cable.

My toshiba modem broke after a year and this one looked cool so i got it. Worked fine for about a week, then couldn't hold a signal for more than a day. Lost connection then I'd Unplug wait and plug back in. You know the drill. work, stop. over and over.Replaced it with a motorola surfboard. A full year later and never a single drop. Not the computer, same connection, problem was clearly the modem.Cheers

THis is a good modem .Supports Docsis 2 which supposedly brings higher speeds and such.Im using it on my insight network with no issues so far.Total plug and play as far as installation is concerned.Get 2.5 mbps during day and 3.7 at nights of the promised 4 from insight.The base could be a little wider for a bit more stability but this is a non issue.looks a little sci-fi ;;so if you have neons and stuff inside your case ,this would give it a neat look(only for gray\black cases).good modem.

Великолепно

The first cable modem I purchased (same make and model) was defective. I couldn't even power it up. So I returned it and got another one. This one works great!! I had no trouble powering it up and connecting it to the PC. So far so good.I paid $60 for this cable modem. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Overall a good cable modem. Doing it's job as good as the motorola unit that my cable company was leasing to me. It is no faster nor slower than previously modem I used. I like that it is a bit smaller than my previous model.[...]

I have had nothing but trouble since I installed this modem. Contacting D-Link for help is not a lot of fun whatsoever. It could be other problems, but highly suspicious given everything started with it being installed.

This product works great--as long as you leave your computer on continuously. Every time I turn my computer off, I have to restart the modem. No big deal--just annoying. Why wouldn't they test for something as simple as this?

It works and works well, what more can I say? Connected to Comcast and hasn't dropped the connection since. Very easy setup too. Don't rent your modem! Buy this one and $ave.

I bought this cable modem when I moved into my new apartment because it would be cheaper than renting one from Comcast in the long run. Everything worked fine for about a month, but then I wouldn't be able to connect to anything outside of my local network. Comcast technical support said that from their end it didn't look like anyting was connecting to their network, and my router could release and renew its IP address, so that narrowed it down to the cable modem. Unplugging the modem and plugging it back in would make it work again for 30-45 minutes at a time, but it would cut out at random without warning.I downloaded and installed new firmware from d-link's website that was specifically for Comcast customers and everything seems to be working ok again, but I know a lot of non-technical people who wouldn't be comfortable doing that. If you are a technically unsaavy person and use comcast, you may want to purchase another cable modem all together.

I couldn't be more pleased with this cable modem.I called up my ISP, told them I was switching modems from the one they gave me and this D-Link one and they asked for the MAC address and serial number, and said to plug it in after about an hour. They said to give the network time to add the modem to the network. An entire hour without Internet! AHHH! OK so I didn't have to be without Internet, but I was.So after plugging in this modem it connected with the network rather quickly and I was able to use the Internet in less than a couple minutes. From then on I've been able to browse the Internet with no interuptions and I thank this D-Link cable modem for that.

As have most other people who reviewed this Cable Modem, I had a splendid time setting it up and getting it to work. Basically just plugged it in and it worked. :) OK so I had to call my ISP first and tell them I was going to do it, but after THAT, it was as simple as it gets. There are no extra ports to confuse you, the cables only plug into one place, and I don't see how you could mess this up. After plugging it in, it takes about a minute and all the LEDs go green and you are connected. No biggy.

Though not listed as one accepted by COX High Speed, I took a chance and got lucky. Boy did I ever!! With the rebate, this is less expensive than the other cable modem models and it gets the job done. Very easy hook up, Tech support needed a little from Cox....but found out very quick it was Cox's fault and not the modems. They fixed really quick on their side and off I was screaming down the broadband highway. Definitely a Great Choice!!

I bought this product several weeks before, and the technical guy in the store gave a upgrade disk, and since I have been upgrading this kinds of profucts all the time, so I just went home and try to upgrade it, but I was not successful, so I called the Dlink support, it's apprently in india, and the technical support knew nothing, and in bad attitude. But finally I found that u can not upgrade this product with cable connected. Anyway, my point is, if a company want customer to like their product, pay attention to the technical support. It's understandable to save money by hiring india people, but at least train them and make them responsible.

I updated firmware for using COMCAST cable.If you use Windows XP SP2, you have to stop firewall.Because DLink FTP Server cannot send Hitr252.bin file to cable modem.I wasted an hour to find this problem.Also Login ID is not "admin/hitron". (PDF manual was wrong)You should use "dlink/dlink" for web login.It works fine. That's it.

This modem has some sort of problem, I am on my second defective modem. I returned the first to the store, and the second I sent directly to D-link. My cable supplier (Cox) told me they have found many of these modems to be defective. Nether one of them ever worked, they were both defective right out of the box. After sending the second one back at My expense, I am being told it will be at least 15 days after they received it before a new one will ship. I was told this after being on hold for over an hour and already waiting 2 weeks.

Великолепно

This modem works great with my Adelphia HSI service.I just replaced a Motorola SB5100 with it and it is fast or faster.Nice modem.(Comcast users need to update firmware to use this modem,Go to D-link website/support to do this.)

Великолепно

I'm new to cable internet, and am happy I did not read the reviews before I purchased the DCM-202. I did a self-install using USB, and have not experienced any of the problems some of the reviewers wrote about.

Ужасно

I upgraded from DCM-201, bad move. This modem was hell trying to get it to sync with the Internet provider. I returned the modem and exchanged it and the problem was still there. They had to send a technician out here. Once it got going it kept disconnecting during downloads. Also during downloads this modem got really hot. I returned it for a refund.Avoid this modem.

Ужасно

This is a horrible modem I have had two, and had a tech out and it still wont work. It also get extremely hot when it is just plugged in.AVIOD THIS MODEM!
