When my router died after 5 years of use, I had trouble getting a new one to work. As it turns out, my 5 year old modem was the problem, even though it worked when directly connected to my computer. I'm so glad I purchased this modem. The new router works now and I'm getting much faster speeds than I ever got with the old modem!

I purchased this cable modem when I realized I could have purchased this modem three times over with the rent I've pay to my cable company over the last few years. This modem works with both my Charter cable high-speed internet and Belkin wireless router. To install, I called Charter tech support and gave them the MAC address printed on the modem's label. While on the phone with Charter, I had to plug and unplug the modem a few times while Charter connected. After that it was business as usual. That being said, I can't speak to longevity of the product yet, but I'm hopeful it will just sit there and work properly for a long time to come. On a side note, this cable modem is very small--it takes up less than a quarter of the space that my cable company-provided Motorola cable modem did.

I suppose it's not necessarily the fault of this device; it claims to be DOCSIS 2.0 compatible, but Comcast only supports it with DOCSIS1.0 meaning you will not get Boost! speeds, and who knows what else in the future.I do regret purchasing this now, but if you don't have Comcast my understanding is that it should be fine for you.

This works fine for me. I have Comcast. It took several calls to install, but the delay was not the fault of the D-Link, it was getting Comcast to cancel the "rented" modem from them I was paying $5/month for. Once done, this works just fine, and will pay for itself in no time.

I bought this modem as a back up in case my LinkSys cable modem ever dies. Recently I began having performance problems, and swapped in the DCM-202 (with the cable company's knowledge, and configured for the new MAC address).Not only did it *not* solve my problem, but my throughput dropped even further. I wound up having a cable company technician come out, who discovered a problem with the cable drop from the street to my house, but after fixing that the throughput and dropped packets were still horrible.We swapped the LinkSys modem back in, and voila! Now I'm getting nearly 6Mb/sec on the LinkSys. I was lucky if I got 800kb with the DCM-202.Now I'm looking for a new backup modem that isn't a D-Link.

I just replaced my old cable modem, D-Link Surfboard SB3100 with the D-Link DCM-202 DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem. It's streamline, with a "small footprint" and very simple to install. I had surfed the internet and found that Amazon had the best price and free shipping. I received it in two working days, installed it and have been very satisfied with its performance. There is only one thing I can say about this product, It's "Money well spent".

How easy was this? I bought this as a replacement to a LinkSys cable modem. I plugged it in, called Cox to give them the ID and I was up and running. The software is easy to use as well. Good buy!

I figured it would work great from the start. I read alot of the reviews prior to purchasing this product, so I didn't worry so much about the performance. But, the one thing I didn't really think about when I purchased this - was the fact that it actually looks pretty cool! Everytime I walk by it and I say "Hey, that looks cool." That's always a plus. Buy it people! Works great and looks cool.

I previously had a Motorola Surfboard 5100 which worked fine for years. Then our cable company was bought out and I would just lose my connection or my speed would drop to dialup speeds. With this dlink my speeds have remained constant and more importantly have not lost the connection (except for one storm) yet.

Had this modem for under 2 years and it's already dead. It worked pretty well til then. Only had to reset it a few times. Just seems like a short life span. If it was a Linksys, it'd still be under warranty. I just replaced it with a Linksys cable modem. We'll see if it lasts longer!

This modem works great for me, so far. I have only had it one month. But, I cannot get a connection fast enough to maximize the modem.

It came sooner than expected and took only a few minutes to get set up... Can't beat the price either, fast and cheap through on through. The modem has been doing well "so far", so I feel it's a good investment.

One of the BEST modems available. This is my second one purchased. I have done extensive research and this model has one of the fastest data exchange rates making it highly compatable with my Comcast Cable internet service.

Well satisfied with this product.However, I am unable to use a HDMI switcher (4 port) that I ordered at the same time. It interferes with my DVD player by cutting off connection. When I removed the switcher, everything worked fine. I was surprised something that seemed that simple caused problems. Guess I'm stuck with a lemon.

What can I say. This isn't the first D-Link product that I've purchased, and probably won't be my last. But, since this is my first experience with there Cable Modem product... and, since I've only been using it for a few weeks now...I'll hold back giving it the 5 star treatment until I've used it a little bit longer. Yes, it's a solid performer (but it seems to take too much time establishing a connection to the Cable system and my Router if I have to re-initialize it. But, that hasn't happened very often. According to the literature the unit is comaptible with just about every current Cable company currently doing business in the USA (and probably Europe). And it fully supports DOCSIS 2.0 to boot! All I can say is that it works perfectly for me and my Cable system. And setup was a breeze right out of the box. One more note: The unit Has two separate MAC addresses for both it's built in USB and Ethernt ports. This means that you can connect two computers simultaneously to the unit without the need of a router. But, a router is preffered! Of course your cable company would also need to support this feature...but, it's nice to know that it's available in a pinch. That's it. Hope this review helped. PS> My Wireless high Speed connections using this Modem are very fast!

The whole installation:1) Comcast cable guy install cable jack (5 mins)2) install d-link modem (2 mins) mostly unpacking from the box3) Comcast cable guy call service center to provide the serial, model, and MAC address (5 mins)4) boot computer (2 mins)5) went to Comcast site to install comcast software for Modem/mail (8 mins)6) reboot computer and modem (2 mins)7) I am online checking my mail. NICE!a total of 22 mins for installing from beginning to end. But I waited 2.5 hours for the cable guy to come.So far, I had it for a week, getting about 359KBytes/sec from RJ45 and about 140KBytes from Wireless G.

I was up & running less than 5 min. after RoadRunner called to tell me they had entered the MAC address into their system, on an Intel Mac, OSX (Tiger), going thro' a NetGear router that came w/ the Vonage phone I use. Everything is working fine so far - web, e-mail, & phone. Haven't noticed any speed increase over the Toshiba that RoadRunner supplied, at least when web-surfing; downloads seem slightly faster. Will update if things change when Comcast takes over from Time-Warner here, but can say it works fine w/ RoadRunner so far.

Ran fine for just over a year. Pointedly, this took it just beyond the warranty period. Then, the converter in the AC power cord failed, mearly bursting into flames. Unfortunately, the failure mode also took out the modem itself. So, instead of a $15 power cord, I got to replace the whole modem. I bought a different brand this time, with a 3-year warranty. Ominously, however, both modems were made in China.

Replaced an old Toshiba that was failing (lost connecting every 45 minutes or so). Working good so far. Speed not quite as fast as the Toshiba was based on speed test sites. I've done multiple tests because I know these tests can vary and the DLink is still 5 to 10% slower than the Toshiba was.Update 09/26/09: I've been using this modem for almost 3 years, and it's still going strong. Comcast has increased it's bandwidth recently and the Dlink DCM-202 has kept up. I get 18.7 Mb/s download and 9 Mb/s upload rates consistently. No complaints here!

My 5 year old Motorolla finally died a couple of days ago, and I had to go buy a replacement. Since I have been running a D-Link router with good results, I decided to go with a D-Link modem. All I can say is why didn't I switch sooner? Granted, my old modem was heavily used and had become slow and unreliable at times, but this modem is lightning fast as compared to the Surfboard. I've only used it for one day, but so far it's very impressive. The best I could do withe Surfboard was a little over 1 megabit. I clocked the D-Link at 3.6 megbits yesterday. Let's hope it will hold up as long as the my old Motorolla did for 5 years.Setup was a snap.
