Before I purchased by T20s I spent hours researching. I've had the same 5.1 surround sound system for years and frankly I was just tired of it. It was okay for gaming when I first got it but over time I've changed my online habits. Now I game on the XBox 360 and tend to listen to music more on my PC. Between Pandora and iTunes I usually have music running in the background and the old 5.1s just weren't getting it.I compared many of the competitors in the $75 to $125 range and, after reading dozens of reviews, clicked BUY and ordered the T20s. They were delivered within a few days and it took longer to unhook the old speakers than it did to hook up the new ones. The speakers are aesthetically pleasing. They are surprisingly heavy, plenty of heft. They are just the right size for me and look good flanking my 23" Samsung monitor. The master speaker, the one with the controls, also has two 1/8 inch jacks - one for and aux input (iPod, etc) and one for head phones. I've used both of these and they work great - very handy.Actually I like the look of the speakers with the grills off, the yellow drivers look cool, but with kids I figured discretion is the better part of valor an reinstalled them almost immediately. When turned on the volume knob is backlit with a blue light - I didn't plan it but it matches the blue LEDs on my PC and the monitor. Nice.Then I fired up iTunes and played Dire Straights "On Every Street", a song I've used to test systems for years. Man, I had forgotten what I was missing. The 5.1s were all boom and sizzle but now I was able to hear the music the way it was made to be heard. I'm a musician and always had serious home stereo systems so I appreciate good tone. The 20s have their limitations but for the application I am using them for, near field music, they are superb.Any doubts I had about these speakers having enough bass kick were dispelled immediately. With the EQ flat (bass and treble at 12:00) and the volume on 3-5 they put out bright, clear, loud music with bass to spare. I found that I was able to further improve the performance of the speakers by tweaking the 10-band EQ on the audio card software.I'm sure that I could have spent more money and probably gotten speakers that were even better but I'm happy with my purchase. If my budget had been a bit higher I might have gotten the T40s instead. As it is, I am very happy with these speakers and feel that I have gotten a great deal for the C-note they cost me.

I purchased a Sony 42" TV that has a great picture, but not the best audio. I tried an old 12 year old speaker set-up (Altec Lansing) from an old Dell PC and it was better than the factory set-up, but it was tinny. Did some research for a 2.0 and picked these from reviews here and elsewhere. They are OK, but to be honest, they are no better than a $15.00 set of speakers from Walmart that I have in my garage. They are OK, but don't get your hopes up. In my opinion, they are more like a $35.00 set of speakers at the most and not $65.00

Pros: Out of the box this has got to be the best looking set of speakers that have ever hit the luxury marketplace. Setup using Windows7 64bit was easy as the the operating system recognized these speakers immediately. For a desktop speaker set that is 2.0 the plastic used to house the drivers is thick and polished; providing a matted sound quality. Left speaker uses an RCA style input jack into the 28w pre-amp located inside of the Right speaker. A big jump from my tinny sounding Labtech 5w 2.0 speakers.Cons: Overpriced at $100.00; but, it is the best in class for under $100.00 category for desktop 2.0 speakers. In the last two days that I have owned and used these speakers, while playing music through my video game play, my computer has locked up twice and required a reboot using the power button on the computer.Other thoughts: Even though the VIA High Definition audio chipset was having problems it is aligned in Device manager with AMD HD Audio and Game Controller; so, to fix this problem I had purchased from Amazon.com with this order a Startech USB 7.1 Surround Sound Remote Audio chipset component and decsided to go ahead and just use it. It too was recognized quickly and a driver was installed from Windows7 64bit. Now, this USB Controller is located within Sound and Audio Codecs in Device Manager between the AMD and VIA chipsets all working together on one frontside bus. (Note: The Startech Sound Card came with a driver disc and I suggest not using it with Windows7 64bit as Microsoft has packaged everything needed to get your perfered sound from these speakers; I suggest using the Custom (Metal) setting from the Media Player's Graphic Analyzer.)I would reccommend this purchase to others; my package came two days early from Amazon.com well packaged and undamaged.

These speakers are very good all-around for sound. But I am definitely one who prefers the added bass of a separate sub-woofer. If you feel the same, get a 2.1 speaker system instead.

As many others have mentioned, these sound just fine. The only flaw I've noticed is that the knobs are slippery, and therefore difficult to manipulate. Knurling them would be the obvious solution. On the negative side, pray that you never need to contact customer service ! You will NEVER reach a human, and the email responses I received were worse than useless. There are far too many alternatives in the marketplace to put up with such arrogance, and it will be a long, long, time before I purchase anything else from Creative Technologies.

Just bought these for my computer at work and what a joy it is to be at work now. I wondered if i would notice a difference over the Harmon Kardons that i got when i bought my desktop and upgraded to the HKs. Sure enough- the T20s have a great range. I worried that there wouldn't be enough bass without the sub and with the bass port on top of the speaker, but these definely put out some bass. I listen to all sorts of music, so i needed a diverse speaker. When i powerd them up with some rockin' blues, the bass came thru and i could even feel it in the desk. Don't need a sub; but others might depending on music or movie type. The tweeter does a great job - just what you would expect with a coaxial (two speakers per side) system. Love the separate bass and treble control. For those who like things to look good- these look sweet. And the power button glows blue when it's on.

i highly recommend these speakers for any1 who wants a rich full sound without the need for a 3 piece system. separate bass and treble controls,a tv adapter if you`d like to use them for your new flatscreen tv(many of them do not have the greatest sound), a great price thru AMAZON. EZ to hook up as well! you won`t b disappointed!

What I really like about these speakers is that they plug into my computer, and at the same time I can plug my ipod into the speakers (one minus point: it did not come with a cable). I can mute the speakers on my computer and still listen to the ipod. The sound is very decent, with bass and treble controls, and plenty of volume. The price was a bit steep, but you get solid quality speakers that will hopefully last for years to come. Well worth the price in my opinion.

great sound and design.sound level is quite impressive for computer speakers, it's obviously not going to be a home theatre system but for what it does it is perfect.would recommend.

I was looking to upgrade my current Creative Labs speakers and after some searching, decided on this pair. I wanted affordable speakers ($100 and under) that provided good sound. These speakers met the requirements and exceeded my expectations.These GigaWorks T20s are connected to a kitchen pc where music is played for most of the day with some video thrown in. Although I would love to add a subwoofer for a greater auditory experience, I do not have the space for one. I love the sleek look and the slim design which helps save precious desk space. After using them for several months, I am still very pleased with their performance. These speakers do a great job without a subwoofer and let me blast music, even at the higest setting, without distortion. Brilliant! I prefer these over other brands in the same price range and even a little higher ($150). I consider this pair a bargain and look forward to many years of use.© Margaux Paschke, 29 September 2011

I must admit that I'm surprised with the performance of these little beasts... The sound is crisp and clear, which in the way that I didn't expect from a 2.0 system. If you live in a dorm like me, these are the best choice cuz you can't turn up the volume too much anyway. And they're good looking.The only con is the price. 100$ is a bit high for a 2.0 system I think... Should be around 60-70$.

Bought mine awhile back,just tried em tonight.Blue light nor power comes on,all in pristine condition otherwise,tried various outlets and every idea possible in wiring,either transformer is bad or internal speaker amp is no good,either way warranty has expired and what I have is a useless product,back to Altec Lansing I go..

I purchased these speakers 5 years ago, from Amazon, for use in a kitchen/greatroom. I plug them into a laptop, an XM home dock or an iPod dock. For me the sound is great. Visitors have remarked that they sound good.After being bump quite hard, one speaker stop working. I was disappointed but, after removing the cover I discovered a small cylindrical fuse, the older auto style, had fallen out of its holder. I snapped it back in place and it works fine.I want another set for an upstairs desktop and wrote this review because I was surprised at the problems other reviewers/purchasers have had.Because of how they have performed for me, I recommend them.I believe I will get another pair.

If you listen to music and/or watch movies on your desktop, these speakers are a solid value if you don't want to go for surround sound on your computer. We have a MAC, so once the initial installation and wiring was done, using the speakers was pretty simple and straightforward. The sound quality is amazing for the size of the speakers and the money you spend for them.

I live in a small space by myself, so these speakers are totally ample for my needs. Most of the time I keep them on about half volume so I don't disturb the lady that lives above me, but if I am rocking out on a Friday night I can easily turn it up a bit and have the sound quality stay good. The bass is great for such small speakers, although it's no match for the 12" Kicker in the trunk of my car. ;)I mostly use these to listen to TV shows or audio lectures, and they work really well for this feat. However, I do use them for music on a regular basis and I am more than happy.I have these speakers going all day and all night when I'm home (I listen to stuff while I sleep), and these speakers are serving well so far. The reason I got them in the first place was because I lived with some friends for a while who had the same model. They loved them so much that it rubbed off on me, and when they moved out I was left with my stupid computer speakers which are completely lame compared to the Creative ones.I don't have much experience with big house speakers, but these are vastly better than the ones built in to my 15 inch MacBook Pro, and I recommend them. The only reason I gave 4 stars for "ease of use" is that the cord to plug them in to an audio outlet is kinda short. I had to rearrange my room a bit so I could easily switch the plug between my computer and radio, but rearranging was fun anyway so it's not very much of a complaint. :)Seth

Bottom LineThese speakers rock! Great looking speakers that produce pleasing sound.DesignThis category is where the speakers distinguish themselves from the others. They look great with or without the grille. The controls are easily readable and feel solid. The speakers are heavy so the main speaker doesn't move when you manipulate the controls.SoundI am not an audiophile, but I enjoy the sound these speakers produce. The bass is sufficient and the volume can be cranked way up. The speakers are used on a gaming PC. I've played sounds from Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Dawn of War II, as well as tracks from my iTunes. Everything sounds good.ValueI consider these speakers on the pricey end. I bought them for $80. But I bought them because I liked the design of the speakers and I've been happy with previous Creative Lab products I've owed in the past. Their sound and design offset the cost.QualityI've only owned these for 1 month and I have not had any issues. However, for me, quality is defined by how reliable the product works over time. So this is a work in progress.

I bought these speakers to play xbox on my large hdtv. Did not want to damage the internal speakers. I didnt want to go all out with full surrond stereo because of all the components and what not just wanted a simple setup. I was deciding between this one and bose for a similar price. the thing I liked about these is the black finish and the treble and bass controls are on the front and thats something I would like to play with. Had no demo to test but the only thing that really seperated them to me is Bose is a serious name brand.Its true if you go too loud it fuzzes up but I live in a house with other people so I never take it to that point, trust me there is plenty of quality volume before it reaches that point. I play lots of Call Of Duty and it sounds amazing.Sound Is bright and crisp with a good bass mix. keep my bass about half way and the treble all the way up.Got everything I hoped for with this purchase as far as price and quality. Sorry for anyone who has had problems with it breaking so soon. I've had mine for almost 2 years and it still works great. the only problem I've had is accidently smacking them off the surface its sitting on and bending the connection cords from the back but those are easily replacable. they still work perfect.the only thing I dont like about them is the removable mesh cover. dont know if its like that for looks incase you want them bare or because of less restrictions on the sound. no punctures yet but Im afraid theres still a potential risk.

I had to move my computer to a small setup/desk and my 4.1 speakers just did not make sense. So, I decided to get smaller desktop speakers. I listened to a number of cheaper speakers and it was hit or miss. Some sounded downright awful while other were decent but a bit tinny.Since I really liked the "Creative" branded 4.1 Cambridge Soundworks speakers I decided to give Creative a second shot. Turns out it was a good decision. These speakers are loud enough for a small setup or small room. I would not expect them to fill a room like bookshelf speakers and a 80watt amp :). But these speakers make good use of the 28watts they have.The overall sound is good for the size, power, and price. The base and highs end are good while the mid range is a bit weak but not too bad. If you want really great vocals, these may not be enough. Of course if you really want full, accurate midrange, you probably need to spend a bit more on speakers in general. My previous 4.1 (Cambridge Soundwords) did a bit better with midrange but they were about twice as expensive. One tip to help with the weaker midrange is to simply turn down the bass and treble in your PC sound setup.The hardware itself is very solid and there is no vibrations even when you turn them up to 100%. That is rare with the cheaper speakers which just don't hold up at full volume. Basically, the speaker feel very solid and well build (and heavy) which is a good thing when it comes to speakers.The cables also are good quality but a few of them could/should have been longer. The power cord and PC (line in jack) are both much too short. I was lucky and the line in jack just barely reached my PC (on the floor). The power brick is nice and small but the power cord also just barely reached the power strip. Its too bad they did no fix this with this, the second edition, of these speakers. So, if you're PC is right at your feet (right side) it will be easy to setup but you may find these cords too short. Thats really a shame when the fix is so easy. You can get standard, longer stereo jack to replace one and maybe even find a longer power cord but Creative should simply add 2 or 3 feet to the cables so they easily fit most installations.So, other than the cables being much too short, they really have a quality product here. Worst case, you may need to hunt down a speaker jack for 3$ at Radio Shack :) Overall, I would recommend these speakers and I feel the price is reasonable given the overall good quality of the sound.UPDATE: After more listening of these speakers, I find the lack of good midrange more disappointing. For some material and music, this is ok but for others (talk and movies) it can be pretty muddy. They are still better than having cheap speakers and the bass is good but if you are looking for good multi-media speakers you may want to spend a bit more. Due to this lack of good midrange, I lowered the score to 3 stars. They are still decent sounding but something is just missing in the full range of sound.

When I think of all the things I have wasted $100 dollars on over the years... I can only imagine how much better my quality of life might have been if everything I spent $100 dollars on was as good as these T20 speakers. Straight out of the box all I had to do was dial down the bass to about 10 O'clock and turn up the treble to about 2 O'clock and... bliss.I stumbled upon the T20's because I was fed up with repeatedly spending $30 to $40 on 2.1 speakers that popped and crackled every time I adjusted the volume (and then died on me completely after 18 months). I started wondering if there were higher quality 2.1 speakers out there. I had never seen any in stores. My search quickly led me to the T20's and I'm glad it did.To those negative reviewers out there... what do you want for UNDER $80 dollars (at the time of this writing). The T20's are GREAT for the price. Plug them in, play 'The Oh Of Pleasure' by Ray Lynch and be transported.

Most of the music on my computer's hard disk are restorations in wav or mp3 formats of old 78 rpm shellac recordings of classical music,recorded in the 20's and 30's. These are notoriously deficient in bass and treble effects.My new computer came with Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Audio card, but an adequate sound could not be obtained no matter what combination of twin loudspeakers, with and without a sub-woofer. With the Creative Gigaworks T20 Series II speakers a rich sound is obtained, at least in the confined space of my home office/studio of 10 x 10 ft.

These speakers have solid sound for a small package. They aren't as loud as some other computer speakers. Sometimes you really have to crank them to get good volume, but it is always clear and never muddy, at least with music. I can't say for with movies/dialogue.The major downside of these is they are really top heavy/have a narrow base and are prone to tipping. They fall over at least once a day, anytime you bump them or the table- they are going down. A minor annoyance, but should be addressed for future models.

These speakers sound great on my PC when playing windows media..sound like much larger speakers. The Aux port allows me to play my IPod musing on them as well with a male-male cable.

Exceptionally good! I was searching for iPod speakers for a smaller living area that would not take up a lot of space. I have the speakers oriented on their sides with rubber feet mounts so the bass speaker is on the outside and tweeter on the inside. Also used slighty larger feet for the front so the speaker is tilted upward slightly. This gives a very clean low profile appearance free of vibration. They look less like computer speakers and more like high end home theater speakers. The speakers sound very crisp and detailed and play at a fairly robust volume for their size. They also produce very clear sound at low volumes which is nice and something you don't often get with a separate receiver and speaker setup. Stereo separation is superior to any iPod speaker dock system. My only complaint and it's relatively minor, is the knobs for volume, bass, treble, are very smooth and would benefit if they were redesigned to provide some grip. The speakers would be the ultimate if they had a remote control for volume and power. Creative includes a plug to be used with TV or DVD, but it would be nice to just plug my DVD player in and still be able to control volume using the speakers. I don't know of any dvd players that have an actual volume that controls the output of the unit. Overall highly recommended and well priced for the build and sound quality.
