Glad to see that some people had good luck with this card, but it was a nightmare for me. Spent 5 hours this morning trying to get this thing to work. Tried different drivers,settings,pci slots, searched all over the web for solutions to my problem, and no luck.Sound comes out horrible, and playing music causes my comp to reboot. No error message, just reboots.So it may or may not work, and your probably better off buying a different card. Also no hardware acceleration.

My first review was deleted ... probably because I told the truth. This is a great sound card and I'm glad I purchased it. However, "Varpak" is apparently Amazon's way of saying, "we will ship this product to you in a plastic bag."That's right, I received my sound card (delicate electronics that could easily be broken) in a plastic shipping bag with no box or other protective material. The CD-ROM with drivers that came with the sound card was cracked during shipping but it was easy to download drivers from the web. I really recommend this sound card but I don't recommend purchasing it from this website.This is great product. Buy one ... but buy somewhere else.

I purchased the Creative Sound blaster Audigy about 4 weeks ago. The day I receieved it in the mail I installed it. Here are my findings;1) I received it very quickly in the mail with no dents and in great condition.2) I installed it (PS- I have my CompTIA A+ Hardware Installers Certification) with a great deal of ease and no issues whatsoever. Most anyone who has any knowledge of the inner workings of a PC can install this card.3) I am pleased with Amazon's service and the product as a whole. It recreates very accurate and clean sound on my 5.1 surround system. And it does not tax the system resources in order to do what it is made to do. (Less than 2% CPU usage at best)4) As a side note, Creative labs products usually require some sort of software upgrade after you purchase them so if you have an internet connection, go to the MFG's homepage and download the latest version of soundcard drivers. I noticed certain sounds in my gaming worked better after the latest drivers were downloaded.My Summary5/5 on this product. Buy it if you are in need of a simple, high quality sound card. I would recommend it for gamers and music enthusiasts alike. I would not recommend it for MIDI inputs and extremely high end audio workstations as there are most likely better soundcards designed for that purpose.

If you are looking for a no-frills answer to good sound, this is an excellent option. I'm not someone that is looking to edit and create sounds on my computer, but I have a very large library of music to which I listen while I work or play. The computer I built for home came with 7.1 on the MB, but it just didn't cut the mustard. I needed a cheap sound card, but wanted one that would adequately handle my 6.1 speakers and provide good sound. Creative has always been a leader in sound, so I gave the Audigy SE a shot. I am NOT disappointed! As I stated, there is not a lot of frills. You can play with some synthesized sounds, but for the most part, it is a simple equalizer that perfectly fits the purpose I required. Easy install with no problems at all.

Haven't tested on Vista, but OS compatibility might also depend on the manufacture date of product.I recently got one of these and the box mentions compatibility with Windows 2000 (SP4), XP, and Vista. But when I popped in the CD on a Windows 2000 SP4 machine, the software stops, stating that it found an incompatible OS. Turns out Creative shipped only the new drivers on CD, which are incompatible with Windows 2000.To get the Windows 2000 drivers, you need to download the older driver for the card from Creative's website (~50MB). Sadly the older driver has less features, one that I especially like that was missing was "What U Hear" audio mixing capability of the sound card.

Great product. The product gives you better sound than the motherboard sound card. Also computer does not freeze often when playing computer games. A must for anyone interested in true sound on a computer.

Easy installation no problems. I had to do a lot of clicking around before I got it set up in the correct mode for my speakers (stereo mode to feed PC speakers and AV system simultaneously, rather than multi-channel). But after the initial setup it has been working great.

I upgraded to a new PC but wasn't paying attention when I picked the sound card. So to make use of my 5.1 surround sound, I had to upgrade my sound card after I got my new tower. Amazon had it, extremely reasonably priced, so I installed it and was up and running in less than an hour...and I'm not even that much of a geek.

Received from Amazon right on time and in perfect condition. Installed it and loaded the drivers without a hitch. I am a musician and use Jammer 6 Pro for creating backgrounds for my songs. The ability to load and modify Soundfonts is perfect for this job. Card has excellent output quality, and combined with the included equalizer and effects software I can create almost anything I can imagine. Have other system with a high-priced M-audio card and the Audigy can hold its own against it. Very good card for the price, and I would recommend it for anyone who wants high quality audio without breaking the bank.

This Audigy was to replace a Creative Soundblaster Live Digital Sound Card that Creative no longer supported. Not being able to upgrade the drivers I desided to go for a Audigy SE. BIG MISTAKE as , you cannot down load the new up dated drivers as the program will not accept the new drivers. Even Creative support was no help. In my opinion , creative who used to be the best has really fallen . I, personally do not recommend any Creative products. I have since purchased a good quality sound card that is NOT Creative

Maybe you made the mistake I did of buying a bottom of the line computer because it was cheap, but this card fits into all PCI slots, and gets rid of all the problems associated with integrated audio cards. The only reason to get a more expensive card is possibly for the software functions they might come with or do get yet even more sound quality. This card is the best!!

I upgraded my computer's video card to the ATI all in wonder 9600XT last week, and realized the on board soundcard did not have an extra input for the video card due to my 5.1 sound speakers. I went out, bought this at 10pm at night at a chain retailer, and slapped it in, and in 10 minutes my computer was up and running with new sound that is better than the on board soundcard, plus descent recording software and other sound software that my onboard card did not have. This card does not have any fancy digital inputs or outputs, nor a joystick port, but it gets the job done cheap and efficiently, and is from a brand I have trusted in at least 4 of my last computers. Worth a look at.

For the money, this is a great card. Just as it says, though: It's an upgrade from onboard audio. If you're upgrading another sound card, you might want to go with something a little more beefy, but for the average home user with no need for extreme audio, this is a wonderful sound card.The only thing that I couldn't get to work was turning on hardware acceleration inside my games. Windows hardware acceleration works fine, but the games don't like to do it with this card. Game audio without that is superb - I have the game's sound channels cranked up and it is crystal clear.Please note that the BLUE jack on the card is for the microphone, not the red jack. You'll have much less frustration if you know that beforehand. Veteran computer users are accustomed to plugging the mic into the red jack, but the red one here is an output...

For the price you can do a lot worse than a Audigy SE. It does support EAX, kind of and it sounds a notch or two better than your typical onboard audio. However, it has a lot of issues as well. First off, it disables the treble/bass option under the tone control in the control panel. This causes a muffled sound since treble controls the clarity to some degree. The card does come with its own software but the software is merely to beef up the bass, no treble options whatsoever.Even games suffer greatly because of the fact that the treble can't be adjusted. I really don't know what creative was thinking by creating a card that dismisses this option. Maybe they assumed most speakers have a treble adjustment, don't know. Either way, this card is going back and its being replaced with the audigy 4 SE, which better re-enable the treble option.In short, like it says on the box, this is a great upgrade from onboard sound. But that isn't saying much. Did I mention even games sound muffled on this thing? I played a few games and the gun shot effect on all of them sounded like the guns had silencers. This is a result of to much bass and not enough treble but that can't be adjusted thanks to the fact that that option isn't enabled on this piss poor card. The soundblaster live was actually a better card, it had those options enabled. This card is actually worse than a card from 6 years ago which is kind of pathetic.

This sound card has a "Works with Windows Vista" sticker on the box, but the software that came in the box is only compatible with Windows 2000 and XP.You can get a basic Windows Vista driver (but no additional software) from Creative's web site, but that driver has known problems with crackling and studdering noises in games that use DirectX. Read the Creative support forum, and you'll find dozens of angry customers who are having the same problem.I'm sure that the card works great with Windows XP, but as a Vista user I got hosed!

As others have said this is a good sound card. But beware that once you've installed the card, there's no going back. Installing the Audigy SE disabled my onboard sound permanently, even after physically removing the card and uninstalling its drivers. And I couldn't get the onboard sound back even after doing a System Restore in Windows XP! I was planning to go back to the onboard sound and use this card in a different computer, but once the card is installed it's a permanent commitment. Never thought I'd be legally married to a piece of computer hardware.

I am so happy I upgraded my sound card to this one. The price and quality of this card was unbelivable. It works well with XP and now Windows Vista. The sound is clear and no issues with the drivers working in Windows. I highley recommend you by this sound card and you will not regret it. A+++++++

About 3 months ago, I upgraded an older PC to WinXPsp2. At the same time, I installed this card, with the latest web drivers. The system was stable, audio functioned fine, but I started to have all kinds of what appeared to be audio slowdowns in my games. No lock-ups or anything, but I had to turn the audio settings + video settings down in most of my games to get an acceptable framerate. I investigated, and, guess what? THIS CARD IS NOT HARDWARE ACCELERATED despite what they tell you. The EAX 3.0 is SOFTWARE supported not hardware. This card was slower than my old SBLive! Value.I just got a SB X-Fi ExtremeMusic - holy cow can you tell the difference!!Check this out:I went from stuttering frames at 800x600 in UT2004 with SB Audigy SEtoLiquid smooth gameplay at 1280x1024 with SB X-Fi ExtremeMusic!! WOW!!BTW use '3D Audio' setting over 'HW 3d +EAX' for best FPS.Far Cry is smoother for sure, the SE would hitch during the opening demo, the X-Fi was smooth.System:Athlon XP1800+Gigabyte GA-7DXR moboBFG Geforce 6800 GSOC768 MB PC2100 RAMHP DVD-RWSoundBlaster X-Fi ExtremeMusic (formerly SB Audigy SE)

Works great! Nice improvement over onboard sound. Just be sure to completely uninstall your old sound drivers and disable your onboard sound in the BIOS settings before installing. No need for the CD that comes with this card, Windows XP immediately recognized it and automatically installed the appropriate drivers. I'm very happy with this reasonably priced upgrade.

This was my first experience with the Audigy line and working with it made me glad I stuck with Soundblaster until X-Fi arrived! In my experience, installing this product in a friend's computer caused nothing but headaches. The largest of which was complete dial-up connection and sound failure when used at the same time. According to numerous Google searches none of these problems have any remedy, it doesn't even seem entirely clear what causes it. For my money, I would seek out a Soundblaster if I were on a budget or upgrade to X-Fi because the risk of failure with this product is too great.

This sound card is just absolutely phenomenal. Why spend upwards of $100 to get an X-Fi card, when you can get the same premium quality from the Audigy card. The EAX feature was great when playing games like counter-strike and Battlefield2. The added support for 7.1 features is great too, now all I need is a good speaker setup. I highly recommend this card. And for under $30, what is there to debate?

Creative's Soundblaster Audigy SE is far from the most feature rich card on the market, but it beats onboard sound. I had a problem with my AC97' audio crackling, and upgraded to this card, which has worked great since.

Have never found anything until now to transfer cassette recordings to CD's. Quality HD sound recordings. If you have a PC I recommend buying the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Se.

Before you buy anything from Creative, google the words incompatible + legacy drivers + sounblaster + windows xpHuge compatibiltiy issues that will have Creative Tech help telling you to flash and update your system bios, chipsets, leaving an entire PCI slot between Sounblaster card and any other card, update drivers, yada, yada, etc. Read all of the issues from the aforementioned google, and ignore the Creative employee reviews (they are easy to spot). Creative ignores the fact that its products have huge conflicts with Windows operating systems.

I just bought this sound card at Bestbuy to replace my Realtek HD onboard audio that was having problems. Playing BF2 with EAX sounds amazing, vibrant sound and amazing clarity. I was going to buy a Soundblaster X-Fi, but why pay $122 when you can get amazing sound for only $22! Overall no problems, except the volume is drastically louder than my last sound card (have to turn the volume down to 1/8 what it used to be). Your music, video, and games will sound great with this budget sound card!

I was looking for a decent, but cheap 5.1 sound card, and this was the perfect solution. It combines the powerful Audigy sound processor, as well with EAX and CMSS 3-D. The software package is also amazing.

I've held on to my Live! card for years, and it was time for an upgrade. I bought the Logitech 5300e speakers to go with this card, and what an improvement! I'm not an audiophile, just a PC Gamer. And this card made a night and day difference in all of my games. The sound quality and the improved 5.1 and EAX is just awesome. Very cheap in price, very good in it's performance.
