This sound card is great. Works in Windows 7 64 bit and Windows 8 64 bit with no need for driver install. The x-fi cards seems to have trouble with Windows 8 64 bit, and the beta drivers don't work. I don't see a difference in sound quality between the two.

This card is good for windows 7, 8 channels, good sample rate, drivers are awesome. But....Card does NOT have front panel connector, it's my fault because I didn't get the info first but I thought all cards had it (I was young and foolish back then)... I use my front jacks heavily so it was a turn down.I Couldn't get it to work fully in Debian Linux, after a month of researching (and reinstalling) I got bored and stop trying. ALSA will give you 2 channel output no matter what you do, some hacks can route the sound to all your speakers, but will only work with *some* applications, other applications like totem and flash player would hang. And don't even think of watching a movie in 5.1, because it will NOT work.Pulseaudio would hang randomly with this card. It seems chipset CA106 is not very well supported under Linux.So I end up buying a HT | Omega striker 7.1 after a month of having this card, to which I also wrote a review (It's good but not perfect).

While this has decent sound it doesn't seem much different from the sound from the internal chips in our newer computers. If you need a sound card it isn't bad but I'd not call it an upgrade to an existing internal sound chip.

On-board audio may very well be enough for most people, and it was for me too for 5 years until my on-board audio started to give nasty crackling noises. Then I got the Audigy SE to replace it. Voila! I not only got clear sound again, I got much better sound! I'm no audiophile, but I can easily hear things in many songs that I haven't heard before. All that being said, there is no guarantee that this sound card will give you a more pleasant listening experience. I can only tell you about my experience with this card, and my experience has been pretty darn good. If your on-board audio is giving out, consider this.

Does not appear to have a 2-channel stereo line input. Not usable with software defined radio. Very little technical documentation.

I used this to replace a sound card in my old Dell 2400 computer that had failed. It worked as good as the original but a full version rather than the scaled down version that came on the Dell.

If you use M-Audio Delta 66 for recording, you won't need this. Delta 66 has its own card which makes a standard sound card unnecessary

This sound card works fine, and the audio quality is good for the price. However it will not work with guitar or mic instrument or direct-in recording. It is not ASIO compatible. Had to send back.

I read the previous reviews, but since so many said it worked really well I went ahead and bought this to replace a broken sound card. Then, when I installed it, the search for a driver took a long time so I ran the disk. BIG mistake. HUGE. Not only did my computer still not make sounds, but it froze completely. Restarting did not work. Removing the drivers did not work. Restarting in safe mode did work, but it's not like you can operate that way. The presence of the card in the computer made it impossible to download from the Creative Labs site as well. Even after I uninstalled the card and made sure the drivers were gone AND restarted the computer, it was still malfunctioning. I thought it had killed the computer, but finally thought to restore it to the day before I installed the drivers. That worked.Possibly this might have been averted had I installed the drivers straight from the Creative site, but I'm afraid to risk it. And what kind of company continues to send its product with a driver disk that is clearly faulty?Complete and total fail. I sent it back.

Brought this card to replace a older Sound Blaster Live! that I had on the system I used most of the time. After buying a set of new 5.1 speakers to go with the card I'm very happy with it. Worked out great. Good low end-in buy!

This product is still being sold by Creative Labs through Amazon, and this card or any other Audigy card has no service or tech support from CreativeLabs - it is stated "End of Life" in relation to service. Stay away from this company, they are just greedy - primitive business, isn't it? China is getting expensive... It is a shame - CreativeLabs. Finally, the card does not recognize 2.1 speaker system with subwoofer from Altec on advanced Dell PC where the ECC memory is supported. Certainly, ECC memory has nothing to do with the card compatibility. It is a 2006 product and still being sold by these crooks. If someone wants to join me in filing a lawsuit, please contact me through Amazon.

Wonderful upgrade from my On board Realtek audio. You can notice a quality difference the second you listen to music or play a game. Software on included disc is outdated for Windows 7. a modded X-Fi manager can be found if you search.

This is an awesome sound card if you want to go digital, sound quality is aboslutely amazing, if you want great sound for a low price then purchase this sound card, Creative Labs have done it again, another great Sound Blaster.2 THUMBS WAY UP !!!!!!!!!!!!

My Asus motherboard did not have any drivers available for the on board sound so I bought this PCI card as a solution. Works great. no complaints except no ability to swap center/woofer so I had to make an adapter. Took some load off my motherboard and sounds great. As other reviewers say, don't bother with the included disc. Download the latest drivers and SW from Creative.

Just replaced my dying sound blaster audio card with a new Creative Labs SB0570 PCI Sound Blaster Audigy SE Sound Card purchased thru Amazon.com from Equickship. Arrived earlier than promised and exactly as described on their site. I couldn't be more satisfied and I can see why this site has so many excellent reviews!

I made the mistake of buying a replacement motherboard that didn't have all of the output ports needed for 7.1 speakers, and the only way to get the extra ports is if the case had them with a cable that was compatible with the motherboard. Mine didn't. Plus, the 2 speakers that did work popped when the system went to play a sound, which is much more annoying than you would think. My biggest challenge was finding a sound card that worked well with Windows 7 64-bit, and this one fits the bill.Having used the SoundBlaster Live before, I knew Creative Labs products were good. Surprisingly, this card wasn't expensive so it became my low-cost solution to getting my extra speakers online again. Installation was very easy, and I downloaded the latest drivers straight from Creative's web site before the card was delivered. Everything installed without fuss.I reviewed all of the default settings which seem more geared toward a low-end system. I bumped it up to 24-bit and everything works great. The sound is better than my previous on-board chipset. I'm a bit particular about audio, so I do notice subtle differences between cards. This has some extra options that I consider "toys" such as EAX sound effects like you're in an auditorium, hallway, stone cavern, toilet, etc. But at least it does have them if that's your thing.My system is a quad-core AMD Athlon II chip, 8GB of DDR3 RAM on a Gigabyte motherboard. Use of the sound card doesn't affect CPU usage hardly at all, which is good.If you're looking for a good, budget sound card that is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit, you will very likely be happy with this.

I contacted Dell to figure out which soundcard to use as our machine wasn't pulling back any. They gave me an $80 and $130 option, I was thinking more like $15. This was a great alternative. It plugged in quickly (I did have to switch PCI ports, I had it in one that wasn't compatible at first). It took Windows 7 64 bit awhile to figure it out, but eventually the card popped up in the device manager. We didn't need anything fancy, just a way to make a former Dell server that was no longer being used into a machine for an employee to use - this did it exactly.

The sound card runs perfectly on Windows 7 64bit system. It has much better sound quality than onboard chips such as Realtek ALC 66x and 88x series. If you have a micro motherboard and a thick graphic card (GTX 460 or above), this PCI sound card will be a good choice since there may not be an extra PCIE 1x slot on micro motherboard or it is very likely covered by the graphic card. So if you have an available PCIE slot and want the greatest sound, choose those PCIE slot creative cards. If you only have PCI slots available or want a cost-efficient product, this sound card wont disappoint you.Pros:1. Greatest sound quality at 30 bucks. Supports raw DTS/DD output to a decoder through SPDIF. I tried this function on Logitech Z5500 with PowerDVD 10 and KM player, and it worked very well. (Need to buy a Mono to RCA adapter and a coaxial cable)2. Fully compatible with Windows 7 64bit.3. Very compact. It does not affect your graphic card's fans.Cons:The included CD does not provide drivers for Windows 7.Driver suggestions:1. For official driver, you can download its Windows 7 driver through Creative official website. It works perfectly. Make sure you do not use the included CD if you use Windows 7.2. For unofficial driver, I recommend Daniel K P17x support pack 2.7. It is actually better than the official driver and gives you full functions including crystalizer.

This product's packaging states it is formatted for Windows Vista. It must therefore be at least two years old, and is probably older. It would not install from the CD on my Windows 7 PC. I downloaded the updated software from Creative that it is claimed works for Windows 7, but I got the same exception errors when I tried to install using it. Native Windows 7 drivers do not enable it to work.The exception errors caused on-going problems with my PC even after I abandoned the installation. My PC continuously rebooted, and the only way I could get it back to normal was to use Windows' Restore function, after having booted into safe mode.I returned the product to Amazon and my advice to potential purchasers is to avoid.

As most people do these days, I'd been getting my audio off the motherboard for a while. That failed, and I bought this card as a replacement.The good: Sound quality is noticeably and genuinely better, especially for games using atmospheric effects (tunnels etc).The bad:1) No AC97 or High Definition Audio headers on the card. My case's front-panel headphone and microphone jacks aren't useful. These are well-established and venerable standards that pretty much any motherboard supports without fuss - - can we do that here, guys?2) Bad driver packaging. OK, guys? Maybe this marks me as old-fashioned, BUT...Windows 7 doesn't recognize the card and install drivers. Fine, I download and install the 44MB driver-and-random-other-crap package. Then I reboot, and Windows 7 goes and updates the drivers anyway. I ended up with something that worked, but why should I download and install a 44MB package to make it work, just to have it immediately updated? Why can't you just supply a working (and reasonably-sized) WHQL driver package so the installation is seamless and we can just all move along?You've been at it for 22 years. Your drivers don't have to suck anymore.The bottom line: It's a fine-sounding and reasonably-priced card which will give you a 1998-esque driver installation experience. Don't let that scare you off, just put on some *NSYNC and get to work.

I was doing a search for low-profile sound card and this product came up in the search. If you need to get a low profile sound card. Don't get this one. At one time, this sound card was supported to enable it to fit in a low profile computer, but not any more. Don't get this sound card!

This card is a good replaceme. I had a Audigy 2 card that started crackling. The card installed easy on machinge with Windows XP service pack 3. I am able to play Doom, Fear2, and others with full hardware excelarations without and problems. Great for music.For $20.00 you can not beat it. I came in four day from the time I ordered it. I think Iwill now order the XF Extreme for my other computer.

Installed in Dell XPS replacing integrated sound. This was very easy to install and sound is 100 times better, I'm running 5.1 speakers, but it also supports 7.1. Great card!

I followed the advice of another reviewer - I installed the card and expected WIndows to find drivers.Win-7 (32bit) did not recognize the card as anything. It did not look for drivers.So, I tried the install disk. It crashed my system - badly. Took some extreme measures just to make my system start. When it did, a message said take the new unknown device out of the computer.Bottom line... It does not seem to me it is compatible with Win-7. The box says it works with Vista and XP. It does not mention Win-7.I returned it. (I appreaciate Amazon's customer-friendly return process!)

I just needed a basic sound card for a rebuilt machine. After installing windows I was shocked to find that that the motherboard had no sound card of any kind!I went online and did some research on a simple/basic sound card that would put out basic sounds and music to the computer.This fit the bill. Overall, very happy and so was my client.

UPS just delivered it, I popped it in my VERY OLD (dedicated mostly for music play) XP Service Pack 2 System, put the software disk in... The XP "new hardware" detection screen came up, I chose the "search for software" option, clicked, watched the files load automatically, and presto chango, I'm switched from the old mundane Realteck card to the new Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audiology card (which, of course now comes up as the Default Device on the Audio tab after I click on "Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices" which is in "Control Panel"). Simple. WAY BETTER. Nice crisp 24/96 sound playing right now as I type this. For under $33 delivered!!... A 5 star deal... Gotta love it.

I was very happy with this basic sound card until the color-coded plastic insulation for the sound-out jack broke into pieces and fell away. Not sure exactly how it happened. I do plug and unplug connectors into the jacks a lot so I guess the plastic insulation wasn't strong enough for that. On closer inspection, the plastic does seem to be the hard, brittle kind. I think a softer plastic is needed here. Anyway, the card is now unusable. I can make a connection, but I get a lot of noise and feedback without insulation around the plug. All of this happened after only 4.5 months of use. No idea if the manufacturer will replace it. Aside from this one problem, it was a perfectly acceptable sound card.

No matter how, or what I do; this sound card will not work with windows 7 32 bit. I have tried the drivers recommended, but nothing seems to work. I have the card installed, but that is all I can say about it. Am I unhappy with it....YES.....

First sound card I have installed. Dell 8250, built-in sound card no longer worked, but front headphone jack was working. After card install, headphone jack stopped working. Contacted tech support, got canned answer to reinstall. I reinstalled software, drivers only, and headphone jack still did not work. Bought a $3.99 Belkin audio splitter, and now speakers and headphones are working. Maybe all sound cards are like that - the built-in headphones stop working???

huge power for little buck - powers a small 5.1 channel surround sound loud enough to shake the building - and the quality is crystal. For Windows 7 don't bother with the install disc. Just let windows install it for you, sit back and enjoy!

This might work in Vista, but when trying to install the current drivers in Win2003, its sysaudio.sys causes STOP: 0x0000007E.Even booting into safe mode bluescreens before an uninstall can be accomplished.Rolling back and using the older drivers on the CD, they install, and the control panels look nice; however, it says the card doesn't work.When I looked into the box, it says Vista and XP. No such limitation listed in the product specs, and nothing useful on the Creative site.I'm swapping this out for a Siig DP 4 Soundwave. The site formally states there is support for 2003 and 2008. It's not fancy, but I don't need fancy.

I needed a cheap sound card, this worked fine. For whatever reason, a lot of the software and features that came with it didn't work.
