My on-board sound went out on my MB, rather than ditch the MB and install a new one which also means reinstalling a new OS I went for this option instead. It works, is it the best no, does it work very well for it's price point you bet. If your doing some casual listening or even some gaming this card will be sufficient in rendering 90% your needs. If your doing studio quality work this is not the card for you. Also if the audio is up too loud I get a popping noise but that's most likely due to me turning up the music too loud and this defect would not prevent me from purchasing this card again.

OMG!!!what a HUUUGGGEEEE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!i cant even think straight right now!i upgraded from on board audio with sound coming only out of one end, and i was actually ok with it!!!! wow!!!! i cant believe it worked right the first time!! no problems at all!!! UUUHHHHHim in disbelief at how much better everything sounds now!!im so happy i could cry! ive been missing out for YEARSWHAT A GREAT START TO MY DAY

My new Sound Blaster Audigy SE sound card exceeds my expectations -- the sound quality is much improved over the original, on-board card, which failed after approximately 6 years usage. I highly recommend Creative Labs sound cards!

I would rate this card higher, but it's not the latest and greatest card.The reason I bought this card, and the reason I like it so much, is that it's pretty much a workhorse card, and has no problems. I've used this exact card in other machines, and it does the job, when it comes to gaming, etc.Installing a dedicated sound card is always a good idea; I've found that just adding a dedicated sound card improves overall system performance, and this one definitely handles the business!

This is a replacement sound card that was delivered in 2 days with standard delivery. Replacement installation was a snap and setup with updated driver was easy. Sound quality is great.

works very good. better than the X-fi Fatality I had earlier. this one had knows for you to adjust to different genre of music. NOTE if you have Windows 7, you won't be able to install the driver. To do it right, you have to install the Creative softwares FIRST, then install the driver afterward.

This card replaces built in motherboard sound that lost the left channel. The computer only uses simple twin stereo speakers, not a surround setupPros: Easy install in PCI slot, software install was OK, sound is very good, decent price, delivery fastCons: Too many selections in the software for choices. Just install driversWorks fine with my pair of speakers, has software options for surround sound if you need it

There are pros and cons to this audio card alas.PRO: easy to install, and plays well with PC speakers, up to PC surround sound speakers. Drivers took minutes to install, and the converted volume control allows you to set each speaker.CON: Does not support true Dolby 5.1/6.1/7.1, thereby making it incompatible with HD DVD and Blu-ray. Optical sound to an audio receiver stands at Stereo PCM, not 5.1. The add-on needed for optical/coaxial sound is seldom available even on Creative's store. Lastly, tech support is severely lacking.If you wish surround sound on a desktop PC, this card might suit you. However, if you need Dolby in any way, avoid this card like the plague. For Blu-Ray and Media PCs, get this card: Diamond XtremeSound 7.1/24 bit Sound Card with Dolby Digital Live ( XS71DDL )

This is a good cheap sound card for those looking to go away from onboard audio without spending an arm and a log for a bunch of features and hype that most people really don't need. I hear a bit more detail in my music and games using this card as compared to the Realtek onboard audio on my motherboard. I actually only ended up with this card after purchasing it to try and solve a problem I was having with audio stuttering using the onboard audio. It turned out to be an issue with my motherboard, not the onboard audio specifically (so the sound card didn't fix the problem), but after using the card for a few weeks, I've decided to keep it anyway since I can notice some subtle differences in the quality of my sound as compared to the onboard audio on my motherboard.

this card is a lot better then i expected. i suppose if you're an audiophile, hardcore gamer, or professional of some sort who works with audio, this isn't the card for you. but for the rest of us with modest speaker set ups who also want some quality, this is a fantastic buy. i bought this for music, as i'm an avid listener and use my computer as a jukebox, basically. this card has not disappointed. its pretty darn good with all kinds of music. i thought i was going to want a 5.1 system to go with this, but after hearing what it has done for my years old Altec Lansing 2.1's, i'm in no hurry to change. the difference from onboard audio is loud and clear.if you buy it for games and movies it does a good job there, too. your speakers will have a lot to do with it, but this card does its job well, delivering the sound where its supposed to go and at the level you want. i downloaded the drivers straight from the Creative website. no bloatware included, just the driver and Creative Audio Console, which features the most basic and essential controls. its all the casual home user really needs. if you want or need more, use the disc. i opted not to, and i'm glad.if you play games you should know EAX and 3D Surround, etc...will not work with most if not all games with Vista. MS removed a feature from Vista which enabled this, so you will need a program called ALchemy to do it. strangely, its not a free program, as Creative is selling it at $10 a pop. i guess if you have Vista sound for games isn't part of the deal. but even still, the card is well worth it. and if you need those effects for games thats worth it, too. also, a program called "Open AL" is available for free that will allow EAX to work in games as it does on your computer, although not adjustable in game.install was easy, pretty much plug and play. besides replacing RAM, easiest thing i ever changed out in my computer. just powered back up, clicked cancel when the Windows "New Hardware Found" box came up, and opened the folder with the previously downloaded driver package from Creative. Vista did the rest, no issues whatsoever. very easy, very nice.

I bought this card to replace an external box that quit working after several years of use. I have six speakers and a sub-woofer connected to my computer, so the standard sound card thats installed on the motherboard only allows for one connection. This Sound Blaster Audigy Se card intalls inside my computer so I don't have to tie up a usb slot like I did for the external box. The Sound Blaster card is a whole lot cheaper than the external usb box that it replaced. I am totally satisfied with this card, as it allows me to have true surround sound, and also comes with a program that has a graphic equalizer and allows you to add all different kinds of special sound effects. It is worth every penny and out performs cards that are much more expensive. I am 100% satisfied with its performance and highly recommend it.

I've had this card for about a month now, running it on a Dell Quad-Core Vista 64 machine. At first I didn't think I'd hear any difference in my mp3s between the Dell on-board sound card and the Audigy, boy was I dead wrong! Sound quality is crisp and enhanced and pronounced, very very nice. I don't have a 5.1 speaker set up so I can't evaluate 3D surround in games, but as far as sound quality goes, the Audigy is fantastic, and it's not very expensive. Since I just wanted a decent sound card and not have to pay something like $200, the Audigy was definitely the best buy.

This is not a 5.1 sound card. I repeat. THIS IS NOT A 5.1 SOUND CARD. I have years of experience with computers and with sound systems. I don't know why you would buy this card if it doesn't play 5.1 sound and the resulting sound is no better than the on-board sound. A waste of money. If you are still unconvinced of whether to buy this, then if you do, and in a year's time you need tech support or any type of question for that matter, they will not answer your email. No phone calls, no email, no nothing. They literally sent me an email saying after one year of purchase they will only offer support if I BOUGHT it! Wow! Instead of purchasing support for this card I bought a SIIG 7.1 sound card and love it. See my review.

Before purchasing Augidy SE SB0570 I was sceptical about its qualities. By the way, I only got it by chance as my previuos sound card based on the ALC888 chipset stopped working suddenly. I thought I would only purchase a good quality card by selling my kidneys so I never minded much about getting a good card. However, Creative Augidy SE has changed my mind. It's unbelievable how a such inexpensive device could brought the sound quality of my desktop to a much higher standard.Main improvements: clear and open midrange, good soundstage (with my previous sound card it didn't exist at all), trebles better defined and better dinamics.As an audiophile I'm able to recommend an audio stuff. Believe me, the refered sound card is a bargain. Of course, don't expect a hi-end performance, but it's good enough to play those badly recorded MP3 files.Highly recommended!

if you do not have a full size computer case, save your money. I purchased this card to upgrade the integrated sound card that came with my computer. unfortunately, they do not specify that this product only fits full size comuter towers.When I discovered this fact I contacted Creative Labs, the maker of the SoundBlaster Audigy SE card and was told that they no longer offer the compact bracket nessessary to make it compatable with my computer.when buying a sound card make sure it states that it has a low profile bracket or chances are it will not fit your computer case. (most desktop computers sold now are compact towers).I'm sure it would be good product, if only I was able to use it.Kudos to Amazon for their easy to use and clear return policy.

I wasn't looking for anything special in a sound card. I just needed something to solve the sound problems I was getting in many games. I found out that it can be caused by using the motherboard's on-board audio. So I replaced it with this and it solved the problem.The audio isn't nearly as good though, and I just wanted a quick fix. I recommend saving up your money to buy an Omega Striker or Auzentech Prelude sound card instead.

I was running Windows XP with an old soundblaster card and upgraded to Vista and couldn't use the old sound card anymore, so I purchases this one. It works good. I like the surround sound feature. Music sounds really good. One flaw, which is due to this card on Vista or vice versa, is that it doesn't work with Audacity. Before in Audacity, I had multiple channels to record from, now I don't have any. Other than that it does the job. One step better than the on board sound card.

There have been a few interesting reviews for this product here on Amazon. Some are evidently due to lack of experience with computers. I will just list a few things you might want to know.1. The card was very easy to install and update. As stated in the instructions.. Install the card, then boot up. When it detects the card and wants to search for drivers.. hit cancel. Then when your desktop loads, insert the installation cd and install the software. This gets you the bonus material on the cd as well as the drivers. This includes an automated update system for driver and software updates. You can schedule it to check for (I recommend) once a month, but run it once when you first install. This automatically updates your drivers for you. Very easily done. No searching the net, no messing with anything. Just click the options you want.2. Sound cards in general. Most computers packaged these days come with onboard (chipped directly to the motherboard) sound cards. This is a terrible idea. The onboard sound carda. is using your system resources and will could be causing conflicts or bottlenecks that lessen gaming and other intensive cpu usage andb. not a real sound card and therefore generally a real pain (usually impossible) to upgrade the drivers on.I am a gamer from ancient history of computer gaming and can tell you this.. sound card drivers not being updated are the cause of just as many, if not more problems crashing other programs than anything else on your computer save the video drivers.Finally.. as for the sound. The digital 7.1 is awesome. I really notice a difference and have enjoyed the performance of this card very much.

This is a good upgrade for someone using the onboard sound on their pc. I installed one of these for a user who was having difficulties with stuttering sound as she watched DVD's, (she is in our marketing dept., and does quality assurance).The sound delivered via this card, watching DVDs, was excellent.This is the card that I would buy for myself, (and might have to for my Vista upgrade).Bottom Line: Much better sound than your onboard audio delivers, good price, and easy to install. NOTE: The software install takes a while and doesn't tell you what's going on. Avoid the urge to think it's done, and reboot. Other than that, a great product and I've installed these on Windows 2000 and XP systems without trouble. Vista, don't know.

I bought a new Vista 64-bit computer and just didn't feel I needed to upgrade from the Integrated HD audio. But, had been having some strange pops and whistles, so when I saw the Audigy SE in a clearance bin I bought it. The sound improvement is certainly noticeable, clear and bright compared to what I had before. It loaded up fine, and the update from creative website all worked great. One of the only "Plug N Play" installs I've had that was trouble free. With the Windows start up wav I could tell the difference, playing a CD was phenomenal. Worth every cent of the $18 I spent for it!

This is a great upgrade from the Sound Blaster Live Series sound card. Although it's the OEM version it is still a step up and well worth the cost since prices have dropped significantly. Easy install, Plug & Play, and great driver support all make it worth while.

I bought this for music & movies, that's it, so for my needs this one works perfectly. I'm not a gamer, so can't speak for its use there. But the way I always test this stuff is to put on some of my favorite jazz albums and hear how clearly all the subtle notes are picked up - and I was actually a bit surprised how good it was, considering the money I paid. And now I'm happy I didn't spend much more, because I doubt I would be able to tell the difference. So yeah...good stuff.

This, for me, was a clear example of getting what one pays for-- even less than what I paid for. The card worked for 2 weeks and then there was no sound. I tried every conceivable way to get the card to work, including new drivers, turning off integrated sound on the motherboard, and working with Dell technical support. What finally got back the sound was removing this sound card from my computer. Junk!

The sound card that came with my computer (now two years old) had developed a popping/crackling sound. I bought the Soundblaster Audigy SE from Amazon. It arrived within a week. Now, I'm not very experienced with computer hardware--I'd rather it left me alone, and I'd do the same, but this was very easy--just popped the side panel off the computer case--didn't even have to disconnect all the other wires from the case--just the speaker wire that came from the sound card--unscrewed the one screw holding the old sound card in place, and pulled it straight out. The new sound card went in the same way, then plugged the speaker wire back in (green to green), replaced the screw and the side panel of the computer case, plugged the power cord back in, and booted the computer up. Inserted the CD that came with the sound card--it installed the driver (along with some other sound software)--took about 20 minutes total. No more Snap/Crackle/Pop!

I had a Creative Sound Blaster with more bells and whistles than this one but when I had a hard drive crash, it stopped working. I replaced the old one with this one and it worked the first time.

If you are just using this for music. I highly recommend this. There is no need to pitch in another 70$ for a Xi-Fi. 50$ of that money went into buying the name of the Xifi. It actually the psychology of marketing. They jack up the price of new products because they know customers are going to spend mucho money to get the latest gizmo.My brother have the Xifi Gamer card. Don't get me wrong, the crytalizer is good, but only works well with bad compressed mp3 and only for a certain type of songs. If you are listening from lossless audio files or even 320kbps, there is absolutely no help at all. Let you the truth there is there is not much difference between the two card, at least i cant hear any of them and i save 70$.

Excellent product. I bought this card to replace the on-board sound of a 3.0 Ghz desktop so the wife could watch episodes of "Lost" with a clear audio. Vast improvement. Seller did a super fast shipment to boot.

While this card delivers great sound and features, woe be to he or she that experience a problem. Tech support is limited to a bank of seemingly recently graduated DeVry students who seem to be able to do little more than quote help files, and really aren't familiar with the hardware they're supporting. Hard as I tried to get a direct answer to my problem, all they could do is throw more help file links at me. When I asked to be directed to Level 2 support (a commonality in the industry) I was told that there was only one level.

I was really looking forward to this card, but I should've checked the "Sound Blaster Audigy" page on Wikipedia."The Audigy SE is a stripped down version of the Audigy, with software-based EAX 3.0 (upgraded to software-based EAX 4.0 with a driver update), no advanced resolution DVD-Audio Playback...It lacks the EMU10k1/10k2 processor, instead using a CA-0106 Family chip. As opposed to the rest of the Audigy series, the SE is a low-profile PCI card."The output to the speakers is better than my onboard sound, but I tried using my headphones and it's distinctly unimpressive.

A great sound card for the price! I replaced my daughter's on-board sound with the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE and immediately noticed the difference. I plugged in the Logitech x-230 2.1 2-Piece Dual Drive Speakers with Ported Subwoofer- New Whitebox speaker system and the sound was great! A good combination at a great price!

Can't adjust Treble or Bass, way worse than the sound blaster 16 that I had 10 years ago. Even worse than onboard audio! Not even worth 1 star but that's the only option.
