I installed four of these memory modules in my new computer. They are working just fine. I ran a (self-repeating) memory test for over 24 hours prior to loading the operating system. Before you order memory modules, you should review the webpage and "User Guide" for your motherboard. I recently built a new computer using the ASUS Maximus V FORMULA LGA 1155 Intel Z77 Extended ATX DDR3 2800 PCIe 3.0 HDMI SupremeFX IV Audio Motherboard. The ASUS website (quite conveniently) provides a Qualified Vendor Lists (QVL) of compatible memory for this motherboard (although it may not be up-to-date for 8GB modules). Your motherboard's vendor may have a similar list.If you purchased a ready-built computer, then look on the manufacturer's website to verify that you are purchasing the correct memory. For example, if you purchased your computer from the biggest computer maker, then log-on to your account, enter the Service Tag number for your computer, and then find the memory requirements. Or, you could just call and ask.My computer's motherboard requires (1.5 volt) DDR3 dual in-line memory modules (DIMMs), installed in "matched sets" for "dual channel" function. My motherboard's "User Guide" recommends installing DIMMs from the same vendor, with the same CAS latency, and of the same version or date code (D/C). Because of this recommendations, and because these memory modules are ridiculously inexpensive, I went ahead and installed the maximum memory of four 8 GB DIMMs (32 GB). You can buy this memory with one pair of DIMMs or two pairs of DIMMs: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10) or Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMZ32GX3M4X1600C10).If you are interested in over-clocking memory, then you might want to research (1.5 volt) DDR3 DIMMs with higher clock ratings (i.e., 1866 MHz, 2000 MHz, 2133 MHz, and 2400 MHz). Naturally, I wanted the 2400 MHz memory; but I decided to try the much cheaper 1600 MHz memory first. Please note: If you are only installing two DIMMS, you may need to install them in only two specific slots on the mother board (i.e., you can't just install them in any two slots). Check the "User Guide" for your motherboard to ensure that you are inserting the DIMMs in the correct slots. Of course, if you fill all slots with "matching" DIMMs, this will not be a concern. No matter how much physical memory you install, your copy of the Windows operating system may limit how much memory your computer can use. Only Windows Professional 64 bit can access more than 16 GB of memory. The 32-bit editions of Window only support 4 GB of memory (3.5 GB usable). The 64 bit version of Windows Home Premium only supports 16 GB of memory; the 64 bit version of Windows Home Basic only supports 8 GB of memory.Lastly, I recommend that you run a memory test on your newly-installed memory. I used Memtest86+ (it's free). Extract the image (iso) file from the ZIP file, and then create a bootable CD by burning disc from image (do NOT copy the iso file to CD, burn disc from image). I ran this memory test prior to loading the operating system.

This is not a review, just for info: Computers and parts have been erratic lately with wide price spreads. I am now placing things in my favorites to lock in prices when at low point, waiting for lowest or buy in cart items if prices drop no further. It is similar to locking in a loan rate on a home.I just brought these at $73.74 and had them in my favorites for a week. They are now $89.74. Saved $16.UPDATE: The higher profile of the corsair made them (2x8) easier to install. I now humbly admit that it has been about 4 years since my last dimm installation. I vaguely remembered that the dimm of mixed couples must be a staggered installation (1,3:2,4) counting off from the back of the computer cpu. Since the 2,4 slots were occupied by 4 gig chips, I installed the corsair 8 GB into the open slots. No good, just a blank screen. Reversed the new/old chip installation, still blue screen. Then kept the 8 GB into the slots originally occupied by the 4 gb and then removed the 4 GB's from the installation. That worked and the computer reports 16 gb of ram on board. This appears to mean that installation of dimms must not only be of the same speed, but also all chips must be of the same capacity in GB.Success. I now have 16 gb on board, but have no use for the original 2x4 gb chips. What I encountered was maybe exclusive to my motherboard, an AMD Jasmine (7778}. It is an HP 2378 computer, 3.6 MHz processor, 8 gb ram, on board graphics and audio chips. No speed burner.I have no plans on future expansion since I don't want to try replacing the hard drive, which is 7200 rpm but only a 3 gb transfer rate, which I believe is the bottleneck for this computer. And since I don't play games, I really have no business putting my hands into a computer case. Cruse the web, buy on amazon, play dvd's checked out of the library.... I am 60 and so totally boring.Flog me at will, but I learn.

I just doubled my rig's memory for considerably less than the cost of the 8GBs that these replaced - and I bought those three years ago. And so far, so great. I can open up programs until my WIN7 taskbar is full of things like Photoshop, Word, a browser or two, a media player, email, skype, etc. And the load on the memory barely hits 6GB. Same with playing a resource-intensive game. Well worth the money.Do not believe a single review that states these modules can't be set to 1600mHz. The default frequency is 1333 but that can be easily manipulated in the bios. An increase in frequency will often need an accompanying increase in DRAM voltage. So if there is instability after upping the mHz, increase the V incrementally. The majority of motherboards made in the last couple of years will have an XMP or automatic overclock setting. I slapped these modules in, started up the computer, and the system read the frequency as 1333. I went into the bios. On a Gigabyte board, the automatic frequency profile settings are called DRAM EOCP. I selected that and it asked me what frequency profile I wanted. I chose 1600. It told me the current voltage was not optimal. So I selected the optimize DRAM voltage option. It automatically adjusted the voltage and said that the DRAM was now optimized. I booted into windows, run CPU-Z and it showed each module at 800mHz (which - since these are dual-channel - means 1600). Fait accompli. If your DRAM can not be set to a certain frequency, it means either a defective module, an outdated/malfunctioning memory controller (CPU or onboard), an outdated bios, or simply user error/ineptitude. But this item is absolutely rated as advertised.

I hope I can afford a second set sometime for 64GB for a larger RAM drive. The RAM works great. Simple and easy to use by just loading the XMP in BIOS on my ASUS P9X79 WS motherboard with my i7-3930K CPU. I'm getting around 34 to 35 GB/s in the Windows 7 Command Prompt memory test (just type "winsat mem" without the quotes, or "winsat formal" if you want the whole computer benchmark test to run) with default setting speeds (no overclocking) but with XMP loaded. My only complaint is that they're making DIMMs too large these days with their heat sinks, so it can be difficult to make them fit with the CPU heat sink. Fortunately at least the top fins on this set are removable. I haven't needed to remove them, but if I get another set, I will.Overall, highly recommended....Update: February 16, 2013I picked up a second set of this RAM from here and installed it on the same computer for a total of 64GB. RAM speed test results have increased just slightly with the additional RAM. Nothing you'd be able to notice using the computer though, unless of course what you were doing actually needed that much RAM.After all the horror stories I've heard of people not getting this many DIMMs and amount of RAM to play well together, especially from two different sets of the same kind, this RAM was disappointingly easy to install. All I had to do was put it in. XMP was already loaded in the BIOS from the first set, so I didn't even need to go into the BIOS (even though I did just to poke around a bit).I was also able to leave the fin heat sinks on the top of the DIMMs. It was close, but they fit alongside the bottom edges of the fans which are on the sides of my CPU heat sink.So far, I'm still more than satisfied with this RAM, even using two sets of it together, one on each group of quad channels.

Well it's ram. It doesn't have the lowest latency but I don't run it at 1600 speeds anyway. I do not game on any of my computers so I have no opinion on that usage aspect. I can say that at 1066 speeds I get a much faster program response time since significantly fewer clock cycles are required for operation. This ram allowed me to create a decent size ramdisk where I was able to put my windows temp folders for an increase in speed and the ability/necessity of clearing said folders upon shutdown. I have a ssd and wanted to have enough ram to negate the use of a pagefile and it's constant/unnecessary reads & writes. I run multiple vm's daily and have yet to utilize more than 75% of my available ram even with the aforementioned ramdisk. Although I wouldn't pay the current price of $97 for 16GB of ram from corsair or any other mfg... at $67 for some red corsair vengeance ram I just had to jump on it. With no reviews I was hesitant at first but some homework on my end showed me the light. They (Amazon) really should link up the reviews for the red, black and blue CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10* vengeance ram since the only difference is cosmetic. Overall, I think this ram is a great deal when you can get the right price. If you have questions ask me and I might have some answers.

I bought this memory to replace a bad stick of a different brands memory. This is your no frills memory. It is fast and cheap. I am running 32GB, which makes Windows 7 fly. All four sticks of this ram passed memtest86. As a developer, I use the extra ram to launch virtual instances of machines. I can quickly deploy a virtual server with my SQL database, a virtual server with my application, all the while having plenty of ram left over for my bloated IDE.If you are using this ram with Windows 7, make sure you flip on superfetch. Superfetch is a Windows technology that will analyze your computer usage, and automatically load programs into ram. So for those applications you launch frequently, they will start almost instantly. [...] will explain how you can enable Superfetch.

As with anything time will tell in the long run, but so far this memory has been awesome and was easily recognized by my ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard. I have used the 2x4GB corsair xms3 memory on my old build for a few years with no problems and so I tried out these as well. They were recognized right away and have really sped up my main programs like SONAR X2, Powerdirector etc. Well worth the money. Having two sets of these are amazing. I read reviews from others saying that it didn't work for them but I bought anyway and glad I did! It's always possible to get DOA anything but It also could have been that their motherboards were not compatible. Awesome memory and a great Price!

I got this memory second hand for less than 60 USD. Been using it for around 1 month without any issues. The reason I am giving a 4 is because nowhere it is stated that this memory needs your board to support XMP to be able to work at 1600 MHz, I am unlucky and my board does not support XMP so I am stuck with only 1333 MHz speed. Thankfully that difference is hardly noticeable because I am working with Video editing or other intensive memory applications and I only use my desktop for gaming. Still I think there should be somewhere a statement saying to check this requirement beforehand.I have not done a full memory check but if something fails you can rest assured I will update this review :)Overall this memory is very much recommended from my side. Thumbs up!.Pros: Size, speed, reliability, good brand, good technology, ease of installation, price.Cons: XMP tech enabled board needed for 1600 MHz speed.

As the status says: my RAM filed after about 6 weeks of operation.I am especially disappointed because I chose Corsair mostly for their reputation for reliability. It was one of the two DIMMs that went bad. It took me a while to diagnose it correctly, but I eventually did. Corsair issued an RMA# pretty promptly, but they've already received my return shipment and they seem to not be as quick in handling the replacement.Next time I'll go with another brand of RAM.In older PCs that I've put together I used Kingston RAM. I guess I'll go back to that default choice.

Let put it simple - right now there is a trend to install huge heat dissipator in a memory bank. It seems that the marketing wants to create a cool look, but in fact that's a bad decision because most of the time they will create problems when you try to install the cpu cooler. And I want the best cooling solution to my CPU, not to my memory.I am a huge fan of mini-itx computers, and normally I have a limited space to install the cpu cooler (I usually recomend Cooler Master Gemini II M4) so this product is perfect, a must buy.

There isn't much to say about this RAM other than it works.I got it because it was reasonably priced, a relatively large matched pair, and didn't have any of those ridiculous heat spreaders that just take up room.I had no trouble getting them into my MoBo (AsRock LGA1155 Z77 Pro4), and my bios recognized them immediately. As with all RAM, you have to be firm with it to seat it in the slot. I'd recommend putting the RAM in before you mount your MoBo so it's a little easier to apply firm pressure. If I could find this at a good price in a year or so, I'd very likely buy another matched pair.

I have been plugging in memory since the 80's. A brand new Vostro blue screened with the set of this that I installed. Ran diagnostics and results were immediate that this stuff has issues. I triple checked the mobo and bios specs and all should have been well, so I can only determine that these modules were the issue. Since it is a Home premium os anyway I went with 4 sticks of the corsair value select to max the memory at 16 and that stuff runs great. I just did not have the same luck that other reviewers had, or possibly I missed something...but I doubt it.

Put the new 16 GB together with my cheap other 16 GB. Got suspicious when computer froze after 10 minutes of web surfing. New memory fails Memtest86 test 3 and 4. Old does not. I am running the memory at the specified timing and voltage. Returning!Update:Got replacement set. It is even worse! Now the computer will not even boot (post). Was able to boot with just one of the two modules and it passes all Memtest86 tests. This in unbelievable!? I have had good luck with Corsair products in the past. Getting money back.

I bought these to expand my computer's RAM to 24 GB. I use it for rendering, and in some big scenes I was runnig short of it.Low profile modules are perfect when you are using third party air cooling for your CPU, because most of them will be rignt on top of the first RAM Module in a standard motherboard layout. So I used my two 8GB modules on the first bank and the two 4GB modules on the second.Corsair Vengeance modules are reliable and fast enough (there are faster nowadays, but your motherboard and CPU must accept them). Never had any RAM related issues in my 3 years using them. They don't heat up. In my rig they are cooled by the case's fans, not by specific ones. There was no hassle at installation and were recognized at once by the BIOS.I'll stick with Corsair Vengeance modules for a while longer, even if faster ones come to replace them. They are my old faithful choice for RAM.

I purchased this product for my latest build based on an i5-2500k coupled with an Asus P8Z77-M PRO board...First thing I did was fire up memtest and it immediately started throwing errors.I tried running memtest with each stick individually and it still threw errors.I ran memtest on a Samsung module that completed successfully.I should have paid attention to the reviews here and on other sites and avoided this RAM.I put in an order for some Patriot sticks and will have my box back up and running next week.

I bought this as an upgrade / replacement for the Corsair 8GB memory I had installed in my system. I needed the low profile heatsink for compatibility with my my CPU cooler or. I've been using Corsair memory for 5+ years now across a dozen or so builds and I've only ever had one bad stick in that time. The one bad stick I had my have been user error, I can't prove I didn't short it out and fry the module.I'll be building a new system soon and I'll go with Corsair again. It offers great performance for the price.
